OnePlus Buds Z2 truly wireless earphones were earlier launched in China with the OnePlus 9RT smartphone by the Oppo backed smartphone manufacturer. It was also reported a while ago that both OnePlus RT and Buds Z2 TWS earphones would debut in Indian markets on December 16. Firstly, the OnePlus 9RT was launched in China in the month of October, and it is expected that it will see its India launch with the OnePlus RT moniker. Now the colour options and price for the OnePlus Buds Z2 TWS have been leaked before the launch.

Price and Specifications of the Device

The latest tip from tipster Yogesh Brar suggests that new earbuds from OnePlus will be available in two colour options for the Indian market. These colours reportedly will be Obsidian Black and Pearl White. The tip further suggests that the device will be available for Rs 6,000, which he mentioned specifically. If the rumour is true, the price of the OnePlus Buds Z2 will be less than that of Nothing Ear (1), which currently retails at Rs 6,999.

The price for the predecessor model – OnePlus Buds Z, was set at Rs Rs 3,190 in the Indian market. This means that the price of the upcoming model has been almost doubled. The reason for this could be credited to the specification of the device, which has witnessed technological enhancements.

OnePlus Buds Z2 TWS features an Active Noise Cancellation Pack (ANC) and has Dolby Atmos support. The earphones will be backed by an 11mm dynamic driver in each bud, and the gadget is also IP55 rated. The earbuds will also use the warp charge technology, which can enable a user to use the device for 5 hours on a 10-minute charge. It is also claimed that the device can run for 5 hours with ANC activated and 7 hours when it's not. The charging case can run for around 38 hours.

It is expected that the makers will continue the sale of OnePlus Buds Z at a discounted price rather than discontinuing it as it provides the users with a cheaper option when they are in the market for earphones.

The iQOO Neo 6 might sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC coupled with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Through the listing, the render of the device can also be looked at.

There might be a curved edge display with super-thin bezels across the body. The selfie-sensor might be housed inside the punch-hole cutout that can be seen at the centre top. Through the image, it can be seen that the volume rockers and the power button are on the right side of the body.

Starlink Connection Might Cost Rs 158000 Annually in India

Posted: 05 Dec 2021 09:02 PM PST

Starlink

Starlink, a satellite communications (satcom) company trying to provide global satellite broadband coverage plans to enter Indian territory with commercial services in 2022. The company has shared expected equipment and service cost for the Indian market. Sanjay Bhargava, India Head, Starlink, shared the cost/benefit analysis via a link in a LinkedIn post. The expected cost of the connection for the first year might go up to Rs 1,58,000 for the users in India.

Starlink Connection Equipment and Monthly Service Cost (Expected)

The base price of the equipment is $499, which is Rs 37,400 approximately. Further, the monthly service cost is $99, which is approximately Rs 7,425. So in the first month of purchasing the connection, users might have to pay up to Rs 45,000. From the second year onwards, the annual cost might come down to Rs 1,15,000. This is because the equipment of Starlink is a one-time purchase only.

The taxes and levies that will come out of selling these connections would be a substantial revenue for the government. Starlink said that schools and healthcare centres could benefit a lot from satellite broadband connections.

The company said that state and union territories could even choose districts that they want to include in the pilot project of providing cities/districts with 100% broadband coverage.

The company is currently planning to apply for a commercial license in India. Starlink hopes to apply for the commercial license before or by January 31, 2022. If there are no major roadblocks, this will go accordingly, and the company then expects to start commercial services by April 2022. Further, Starlink plans on having over 200k terminals in India by the end of 2022.

But if there are any delays, the commercial service rollout time for the company would increase by a few months. Starlink was recently blocked by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) from selling pre-bookings in India as it does not have a license or regulatory approval to do so.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE

Samsung Galaxy S21 Fan Edition (FE) is strongly anticipated to launch during the CES 2022 in January. CES 2022 is not very far from now (less than a month to go live). Samsung is unlikely to hold a special/standalone event for the smartphone's launch. If you have been excited about the device and plan on purchasing it, you can get the first look at the official design of the Galaxy S21 FE. The leak has come via the official website of Samsung for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) region.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE Looks Confirmed

Samsung

It is not just the design of the smartphone that has been revealed, but Samsung has also put up the pictures of official back covers of the device. A total of three back covers can be seen on the website of company.

From the design of the smartphone, it can be confirmed that it will come with a punch-hole cutout at the top centre and will look almost like the vanilla S21. At the rear, there are three camera-sensor. The camera specifications and details can't be confirmed yet but it is expected to don a 64MP primary sensor paired with a 12MP ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. At the front, the device might feature a 32MP sensor for selfies.

The initial supply of the Galaxy S21 FE is expected to be lower than what the company had initially planned. This is because of the ongoing chipset shortage in the global markets. The India launch of the smartphone could be around the same time as well. For the Indian market, the Galaxy S21 FE is expected to come in four colours – Black, Pink, Green, and White.

The device is expected to come with a 6.4-inch FHD+ display with support for 120Hz refresh rate. It might be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC for select markets, and in all the other markets is expected to come with Exynos 2100 SoC. Vodafone Idea Wants to Avoid Ericsson, Nokia Duopoly for 5G

Posted: 05 Dec 2021 06:52 PM PST

Vodafone Idea

Vodafone Idea (Vi) is looking to avoid a duopoly scenario of Ericsson and Nokia for 5G. The third-largest telco is looking beyond the two vendors and talking to other local and international companies/vendors for sourcing network gear. This will help the telco with being safe from overpaying to Nokia and Ericsson for the equipment. More so, Vodafone Idea would come in a strong position to negotiate prices with the two companies (Nokia, Ericsson) if it has other options as well. A senior Vodafone Idea executive confirmed to ET that the telco is looking for other options than Nokia and Ericsson to source 5G gear.

Huawei, ZTE Unlikely to be Part of India's 5G

The government has been against Chinese equipment vendors, including Huawei and ZTE, to be a part of India's 5G. The company executive said that Vi is talking to new vendors because there's uncertainty over the inclusion of Chinese vendors, and Samsung is only working with Jio in India.

The Open-RAN (O-RAN) based sites are a good to way reduce costs for the company. Vodafone Idea had already deployed O-RAN based commercial sites for 4G with the help of Mavenir in Maharashtra and Karnataka.

The company executive said that Vi has initiated talks with global system integrators and vendors and is closely tracking O-RAN developments in the international markets. But O-RAN is not yet a completely mature technology yet, and it will still take a few years to come around.

With O-RAN, companies don't need to depend on a single vendor for the deployment of the complete network site. O-RAN allows equipment/products from different companies/vendors to co-exist with several software providers, which at the end of the day results in reduced costs for the telcos. Telecom operators can purchase different equipment/products at the cheapest rates from different companies/vendors with O-RAN.
