| Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 vs Redmi 9 Prime: How Do They Differ? Posted: 18 Aug 2020 06:34 AM PDT This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/xiaomi-redmi-note-9-prime-differences/291134/, Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 vs Redmi 9 Prime: How Do They Differ?
In just a span of three weeks, Xiaomi has launched two Redmi smartphones in India. The first one to arrive was the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 and the most recent one is the Redmi 9 Prime. Both smartphones are very important to Xiaomi in the current scenario. The Redmi Note 9 is the first ‘Redmi Note’ series smartphone to cross the Rs 10,000 price bracket, thanks to the situation we are in right now. The Redmi 9 Prime, on the other hand, kind of takes the Redmi Note position in the country with its starting price of Rs 9,999. After the Realme C15’s launch in India, it is evident that the Redmi 9 Prime is the best smartphone under Rs 10,000 in India right now. But the Redmi Note series garnered a lot of popularity over the last few years and we should not forget the Redmi Note 9’s price of Rs 11,999. How does the Redmi Note 9 and Redmi 9 Prime differ on paper? Let’s find out. Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 vs Redmi 9 Prime: Design and DisplayKicking things off with the design, both the devices are built out of plastic which is a very important thing worth considering. The Redmi Note 9 follows the design language Redmi Note 9 Pro devices with a square-shaped quad-camera module on the rear side along with a fingerprint scanner. Coming to the Redmi 9 Prime, there’s a circular ring similar to the Poco X2 that houses the four camera modules and also the fingerprint scanner. Despite having the same build material, Xiaomi has cleverly differentiated the two phones. The Redmi Note 9 goes for a glossy finish on the back, whereas the Redmi 9 Prime has a matte finish. The difference can be seen on renders as well as real life. As for the display, we are looking at a 6.53-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD panel on both the handsets. The Note 9 has a punch-hole cutout on the top left side of the screen; The Redmi 9 Prime has the tried and tested teardrop notch. An aspect where the Redmi Note 9 shines is the presence of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection as the Redmi 9 Prime uses Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 vs Redmi 9 Prime: Hardware and SoftwareHere’s where things get slightly interesting. The Redmi Note 9 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 chipset, paired with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of storage. The Redmi 9 Prime uses the MediaTek Helio G80 SoC which works in tandem with 4GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of onboard storage. Both the phones feature a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 512GB. The performance in real-life may not be noticeable to the naked eye as both the processors feature identical specifications with the differentiating factor being the clock speeds of CPU and GPU.
They come laden with Android 10-based MIUI 11 out of the box and are slated to receive MIUI 12 update in the coming weeks. Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 vs Redmi 9 Prime: CamerasAs you have read above, the Redmi Note 9 and Redmi 9 Prime both feature a quad-camera setup on the rear side, but they are some noticeable changes. The Redmi Note 9 has a 48MP primary shooter as compared to the 13MP shooter present on the Redmi 9 Prime. The rest three sensors are identical on both of them- an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter with 118.2-degree field-of-view, 5MP macro lens on the Redmi 9 Prime & 2MP macro lens on the Redmi Note 9 and a 2MP depth sensor can be seen on both the phones. There’s a 13MP AI Selfie camera on the Redmi Note 9 and an 8MP shooter is present on the Redmi 9 Prime. Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 vs Redmi 9 Prime: BatterySimilar to other Xiaomi phones released in 2020, the Redmi Note 9 and the Redmi 9 Prime come with a 5020mAh cell. However, the difference between the two can be noticed in the charging speeds section. The Note 9 supports 22.5W fast charging (although it is capped to 18W and an OTA update will remove the cap very soon). Xiaomi is also bundling a 22.5W fast charger inside the retail box of the Redmi Note 9. The Redmi 9 Prime has support for 18W fast charger, but inside the retail box, we only get 10W fast charger. Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 vs Redmi 9 Prime: PricingThe Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 comes in three variants and four colours. The base variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage costs Rs 11,999, followed by the 4GB+128GB model at Rs 13,499. Lastly, there’s a premium 6GB+128GB model that’s retailing for Rs 14,999. Users can purchase the Redmi Note 9 in Aqua Green, Arctic White, Pebble Grey and Scarlet Red. The Redmi 9 Prime has been launched in two variants- 4GB+64GB and 6GB+64GB at Rs 9,999 and Rs 11,999, respectively. It also comes in four colour options- Matte Black, Mint Green, Space Blue and Sunrise Flare. As always, the devices are available via flash sales on Mi.com. Watch out to Xiaomi India’s Twitter handles or visit Mi.com for exact sale dates. Original article: Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 vs Redmi 9 Prime: How Do They Differ? ©2020 TelecomTalk. All Rights Reserved. |
| 100 Mbps Broadband Plans from Airtel, Jio, BSNL, Hathway, Eronet and Railwire Posted: 18 Aug 2020 06:00 AM PDT This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/eronet-railware-airtel-100mbps-plans/291099/, 100 Mbps Broadband Plans from Airtel, Jio, BSNL, Hathway, Eronet and Railwire
Fibre broadband networks have become a popular medium for people to get stable and high-speed internet. One of the high-speed plans which is sought by customers the most is 100 Mbps broadband plans. There are a number of internet service providers (ISPs) in India which provide this kind of speed. Amongst them, BSNL, Airtel, Jio, and Hathway have garnered the attention of a lot of customers. But there are other ISPs as well which provide 100 Mbps speed broadband plans to their customers such as Eronet and Railwire. Let's take a look at 100 Mbps speed broadband plans from each of these ISPs. Airtel Xstream FiberAirtel's broadband branch is known as Xstream Fiber. It is fiber-based broadband service from Bharti Airtel. Its base plan which is called 'Basic' provides customers with 100 Mbps speed. Along with that the customer also gets 150GB FUP data after which the browsing speeds will be reduced. This plan costs Rs 799 per month. In case you want to top the 150GB data with unlimited data for the month, you can pay Rs 299 extra and get 3.3TB data for the month. There is an OTT benefit as well — Airtel Xstream Premium. Along with that, Airtel Thanks benefits are offered too. JioFiberJioFiber offers a 100 Mbps speed plan as well and it is called 'Bronze'. Normally, a customer would get 100GB data with the plan but due to the lockdown, JioFiber is offering its customers double data benefit. So the customer would essentially get 200GB data for now. Along with that, the customers recharging for the first time, they will get an introductory 50GB data. This plan comes for a monthly charge of Rs 699. After the user has exhausted his/her FUP limit of data, he/she can continue to browse the internet at 1 Mbps speed. Along with that, there is free voice calling, TV video calling, zero-latency gaming, home networking, and device security for 5 devices included. As a welcome offer, JioFiber users will get a home gateway + STB for free. There is OTT benefit of JioCinema and JioSaavn for a total of 3 times as well. BSNLBSNL is one of the oldest and prominent internet service providers of the country. It recently launched a 100 Mbps speed broadband plan for Rs 849. The name of the plan is Fibro 425GB per Month CS359 CUL. This plan has been introduced in the Madhya Pradesh circle. But the users can only subscribe to this plan till October 5, 2020. This plan will offer 100 Mbps speed to the customers with 425GB data. Once the initial 425GB data for the month is exhausted, the customer can continue browsing the internet at 2 Mbps speed. There is an unlimited voice calling included as well. HathwayHathway is a private ISP which has been in the market for quite some time now. The ISP also provides a range of broadband plans to its customers. There is a 100 Mbps speed broadband plan which Hathway offers too. It comes with a monthly FUP limit of 100GB data. Post exhaustion, the customer can continue browsing the internet at 3 Mbps speed. It doesn't come for a monthly subscription plan though. The customer can purchase from the 3, 6, or 12 months plans. The 3 months plan offering 100 Mbps speed comes for Rs 2,100. The 6 months plan comes for Rs 4,200 and the 12 months plan comes for Rs 8,988. EronetEronet is a growing internet service provider in the country. It offers a different number of 100 Mbps speed plans. There are two types of 100 Mbps speed broadband plans the customers can choose from, one is the unlimited data plans and the other is the Limited data plans. There are six different limited data plans. We will focus on the base limited data plan of Rs 499 per month which is quite cheaper than the base plans of other ISP's which provide 100 Mbps speed. The user gets 200GB data at 100 Mbps. After exhausting the 200GB data, internet speed is reduced to 5 Mbps. The unlimited data plan with 100 Mbps speed costs Rs 999 plan. RailwireRailwire is a broadband service which is provided by the Railtel. The Wi-Fi which you get when you are at a railway station in India is availed by Railwire only. But Railwire is not just restricted to the passengers in the Railway station. Railwire is provided for home broadband users as well. Customers can opt from either FUP plans or Unlimited plans of Railwire. There is a 100 Mbps plan included in both. For the unlimited plan, there is no monthly service, the customer can opt from 3 months plan (Rs 2,997), 6 months plan (5,994), or 10 months plan (9,990). But there is a monthly plan in the FUP plans. For the 100 Mbps FUP plan which comes with 600GB monthly data, the customer can either choose the monthly plan (Rs 749), 3 months plan (Rs 2,247), 6 months plan (Rs 4,494), or 10 months plan (Rs 7,490). | Microsoft Set to Bid Farewell to Internet Explorer, Legacy Edge in 2021 Posted: 18 Aug 2020 04:52 AM PDT This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/microsoft-internet-explorer-farewell-2021/291096/, Microsoft Set to Bid Farewell to Internet Explorer, Legacy Edge in 2021
Microsoft on Monday said that the Internet Explorer 11 users will either witness "degraded experience" or will face connectivity issues when connecting to Microsoft 365 apps and services beginning November, 2020. The company said that the Microsoft Teams web app will not support Internet Explorer 11 from November 30, 2020 with the remaining Microsoft 365 apps and services halting support to Internet Explorer 11 on August 17, 2021. Microsoft said that it believes that the users "will get the most out of Microsoft 365 when using the new Microsoft Edge." It has to be noted that the new Microsoft Edge was unveiled in early 2020 after months of testing. The company built the new Edge browser on the Chromium open source engine similar to Google Chrome. Internet Explorer 11 Not "Going Away"Microsoft said that the "degraded experience" when attempting to connect to the Microsoft 365 apps and services on the Internet Explorer 11 includes "certain features" ceasing to work. The company said that the users have been using Internet Explorer 11 since 2013 "when the online environment was much less sophisticated than the landscape today." Microsoft said that the new browsers including the new Microsoft Edge have delivered "more innovative online experiences." "We believe that Microsoft 365 subscribers, in both consumer and commercial contexts, will be well served with this change through faster and more responsive web access to greater sets of features in everyday toolsets like Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and more," Microsoft said in the release on Monday. Crucially, Microsoft highlights that the development only affects the users accessing Microsoft 365 apps and services through the Internet Explorer 11 browser. "We want to be clear that IE 11 [Internet Explorer 11] isn't going away and that our customers' own legacy IE 11 apps and investments will continue to work," Microsoft said. "Customers have made business-critical investments in IE 11 legacy apps and we respect that those apps are still functioning." Microsoft said that the new Microsoft Edge with the Internet Explorer mode enables users to "experience" the "modern web" in one tab while accessing a "business-critical" legacy Internet Explorer 11 app in another tab. Microsoft to Stop Security Updates to Legacy Edge BrowserThe company also highlighted that the legacy version of the Microsoft Edge browser will no longer receive security updates beginning March 9, 2021. Microsoft highlighted that the new Windows 10 devices and future Windows updates will contain the new Microsoft Edge browser. "Now that we've shipped the new Microsoft Edge, and upgraded most of our Windows 10 customers to the new browser, we're ending support for the Microsoft Edge Legacy desktop app on March 9, 2021," Microsoft said. Further, Microsoft said that the apps and sites created for the legacy Microsoft Edge browser will function with the new Microsoft Edge. | One Airtel Plan Now Available Over 15 Cities Across India Posted: 17 Aug 2020 11:06 PM PDT This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/one-airtel-15-cities-availability/291037/, One Airtel Plan Now Available Over 15 Cities Across India
Bharti Airtel has expanded its One Airtel plans to over 15 cities across India. The One Airtel plan enables users to combine up to four services including mobile and Direct-to-Home (DTH) into one plan and under one bill. While the operator had initially launched the One Airtel plans in metro cities including Chennai and Bengaluru, Airtel in its dedicated portal for the One Airtel plans now highlights cities over 15 cities. Airtel offers four major One Airtel plans with the base tier carrying a price tag of Rs 899 while the top tier carries a price tag of Rs 1999. One Airtel Expands to Over 15 Cities Across IndiaThe dedicated portal for One Airtel packs highlights that the plan is available in Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Jaipur, Gurugram, Chennai, Noida, Faridabad, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Ghaziabad, Indore, Mohali and Panchkula. In the fourth quarter earnings call for the period ended March 31, 2020, Gopal Vittal, CEO of Bharti Airtel said that the company will scale up One Airtel plans in 2020. "The moment we bundle these services together again what we see is a significant reduction in churn and we see a much higher increase in ARPU for the consolidated account which is really a measure of lifetime value," Vittal said. Vittal highlighted that the one billing layout for most telecom operators "typically takes between three and five years" but that the Airtel team "developed this in six to eight months internally through APIs." "So, if you take those insights the real question is through building a strong platform and building a whole string of partnerships what you can now see is actually greater stickiness, greater lock in of customers, lower churn for the telco, higher ARPU which is through new streams of revenue and therefore consequently greater value and remember these partnerships come at a very, very low capex," Vittal said. Further, Vittal said that Airtel uses algorithms to recommend "right" plans for its users to combine multiple services into one plan. "They are really technology resource, ready to resource, it is people cost more than anything else and once you got your digital assets of scale then to be able to actually convert customers to get on to one or another service is much easier provided you understand who to offer what tool and this is where the data platform comes in which allows us to actually recommend the right thing for a customer based on a lot of algorithms and lot of data science which goes behind it," Vittal said. One Airtel Combines Four Services into One BillThe base tier One Airtel plan enables users to combine two postpaid mobile connections and DTH services into one bill for Rs 899. The One Airtel 1349 plan enables users to combine four postpaid mobile connections and DTH services into one pack. The operator enables users opting for One Airtel 899 plan and One Airtel 1349 plan to select Rs 350 worth of TV channels under DTH services. Airtel offers 75GB data and unlimited calls with the One Airtel 899 plan while the data benefits are bumped up to 150GB for the One Airtel 1349 plan. The One Airtel 1499 plan enables users to combine two postpaid mobile connections along with fiber and landline connections into one bill. While the postpaid mobile services on the One Airtel 1499 plan are similar to One Airtel 899 plan, the fiber services offer users 300GB data and up to 200 Mbps speed. The One Airtel 1999 plan combines three postpaid connections with 75GB data and unlimited calling facility along with DTH, fiber and landline services. Airtel enables users opting for the One Airtel 1999 plan to select Rs 424 worth of TV channels while the fiber and landline services are identical to the One Airtel 1499 plan. It has also emerged that Airtel users who want to add more connections under postpaid services on the One Airtel plan will be charged Rs 250 per month for each additional connection. Similarly, the users opting for unlimited data pack under the fiber services of One Airtel plan will be charged Rs 299 per month.
