Interest in Jio Platforms will Augur Well For Other Indian Tech Companies: GlobalData

jio-platforms-rs43574-crore-jaadhu-holdings

GlobalData on Monday said that the "interest in Jio will definitely augur well for other Indian technology companies" at a time when companies across the globe are bracing up for digitisation. The data and analytics company said that several Indian IT vendors are struggling due to the COVID-19 outbreak in stark contrast to its global counterparts who have increased their valuations. GlobalData highlighted Apple as a global technology company increasing valuations over the past six months. It has to be noted that Apple has passed the US$2 trillion mark in market capitalisation value.

Jio Platforms Transformed into Tech Juggernaut

GlobalData said that "Jio Platforms has transformed into a tech juggernaut" at a time when traditional Indian IT companies have been "waiting to tide over the impact of the pandemic."

Reliance Industries in July highlighted that Jio Platforms has raised Rs 152,056 crores from 13 investors including Facebook, Google, Silver Lake, Vista Equity Partners, General Atlantic, Intel Capital and Qualcomm Ventures. The investment process was kick started by Facebook in April, 2020 with Reliance in July highlighting that the process has been "concluded" with the Google deal in July.

Facebook invested Rs 43,574 crores in Jio Platforms, a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries in April. The partnership between Jio Platforms and Facebook is said to be "unprecedented in many ways." It was said that the goal with the investment was to "enable new opportunities for businesses of all sizes, but especially for small businesses across India and create new and exciting digital ecosystems."

Meanwhile, Google in July announced an investment of Rs 33,737 crores for 7.73% in Jio Platforms. Additionally, it was said that Jio Platforms, the company behind Reliance Jio and Google have entered into a commercial agreement to jointly develop an "affordable smartphone." Crucially, the entry level smartphone developed jointly between Jio Platforms and Google is said to have optimisations to the Android operating system and the Play Store.

Reliance Industries said that it would hold 66.48% stake in Jio Platforms with the rest being held by the 13 investors. Facebook and Google are the largest minority stakeholders in Jio Platforms followed by KKR with 2.32% stake. Further, the other major technology companies like Intel and Qualcomm hold 0.39% and 0.15% stake in Jio Platforms respectively.

“While Indian IT vendors seeing such stark contrast to global counterparts is unfortunate, this is just the nature of the IT services business model, which, in contrast to software, needs projects in the pipeline," Nishant Singh, director of technology at GlobalData, said in the release. "With the COVID-19 outbreak, enterprises halted all non-critical expenses, including plans to upgrade or transform their IT infrastructure. This has had an impact on Indian IT companies, since most of their revenues are from IT services."

GlobalData said that the big technology companies like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, Wipro and HCL have traditionally been the IT services giants. Further, GlobalData said that the IT services companies unlike their counterparts in the software space do not have a "large stash of intellectual property making it slightly difficult for the market" to segregate the firms.

“A lot of the faith in global technology companies comes from the fact that they have a pretty robust suite of intellectual property, including hardware, software and ecosystems that serve consumers and enterprises alike," Singh said. "The growth in stock prices merely reaffirms that technology companies – primarily ‘Big Tech’ companies – are well poised to tide over the pandemic-induced recession.”

Jio to Aid in Reviving Investor Confidence in Indian Technology Companies

GlobalData highlighted that the Indian technology companies including the large firms are struggling to recover the valuations lost to COVID-19. The company said that TCS, India's biggest IT services company has only managed to recover the valuation lost to COVID-19 pandemic. However, GlobalData said that the market would show more confidence in the traditional IT vendors in the near future.

“With enterprises across the world now gearing up for digitisation, Indian IT services vendors will witness a lot of action," Singh said. "Coupled with the market euphoria witnessed for Jio, the technology landscape in India could well witness a drastic revival in investor confidence.”

Reliance Jio has been under the radar for not launching impressive JioFiber plans. However, it has finally changed as we now have truly unlimited JioFiber plans starting at just Rs 399. Reliance Jio today announced four new broadband plans under its ‘JioFiber’ brand and they ship with up to 300 Mbps speeds. With these new plans, Jio is aiming at Bharti Airtel and ACT Fibernet by providing faster speeds at lower prices. For example, the newly launched Rs 1,499 broadband plan is a direct competition to Airtel’s Rs 1,499 Premium broadband plan. JioFiber plans will also come with a subscription to 11 OTT apps which is something unique in its own. The ISP also announced a new scheme where users can enjoy a free trial of JioFiber for 30 days without any terms and conditions.

JioFiber New Plans Start at Rs 399 With 30 Mbps Unlimited Data

JioFiber now has four new plans of Rs 399, Rs 699, Rs 999 and Rs 1,499. The Rs 399 JioFiber plan offers 30 Mbps speeds, unlimited data and unlimited voice calling benefit. The Rs 699 pack will provide a user with 100 Mbps upload & download speeds, unlimited voice calling and there’s no FUP limit as well.

The Rs 999 JioFiber broadband plan will offer 150 Mbps speeds, unlimited voice calling and a free subscription to 11 OTT apps. Lastly, we have the Rs 1,499 broadband plan that comes with 300 Mbps speeds, unlimited voice calling benefit and a free subscription to 12 OTT apps. Do make a note that an additional 18% GST will be applicable on all the plans. Long-term plan offers are yet to be revealed by Reliance Jio.

Reliance Jio also announced that the new plans would be called ‘JioFiber Home Tariff Plans.’ All the Home plans will have symmetric speed meaning download speed=upload speed. This has been a major issue reported by several JioFiber users as the company used to restrict upload speeds to 10% of the download speeds earlier.

JioFiber No-Condition 30-Day Free Trial Announced

Alongside the new broadband plans, Reliance Jio also announced that all the new customers would be eligible for free JioFiber trial for 30 days. As part of the trial period, new JioFiber customers will get 150 Mbps internet speeds, 4K Set-Top Box with access to top 10 paid OTT apps at no extra cost and free voice calling benefit.

The company says if a customer does not like the service, it will take all the accessories back without asking any questions.

Important Points to Note for Existing JioFiber Users

It seems like Reliance Jio will be discontinuing the existing JioFiber plans today and the new plans will become effective on September 1. New JioFiber customers activating the service on or after September 1 will get the 30-day free trial benefit. Also, JioFiber customers onboarded between August 15 and August 31 will also get the 30-day free trial benefit as a voucher in MyJio application.

Lastly, plans of all existing JioFiber customers will be upgraded to match the benefits of the new tariff plans. Jio did not announce any new affordable 1 Gbps broadband plan.

OnePlus Buds Review: Best Overall Package for Under Rs 5,000

Posted: 30 Aug 2020 09:55 PM PDT

This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/oneplus-buds-review-india/293762/, OnePlus Buds Review: Best Overall Package for Under Rs 5,000

OnePlus has become one of the biggest tech brands in India. It has launched successful products one after another. A few years back, it diversified its product line by offering the first-ever OnePlus earphones. They were Bluetooth but not wholly wireless. As OnePlus always does, it listened to its customers' demand and introduced the first-ever TWS earphones, aka, the OnePlus Buds. The OnePlus Buds was launched alongside the OnePlus Nord, and it was interesting to see the colour options OnePlus went with for this particular product. We have seen a lot of brands launching TWS products in the last six-eight months and OnePlus isn’t missing out on this train as well. One of the biggest questions that people want the answer for is, how is it actually in performance, especially considering its price point of Rs 4,990. Keep reading ahead to find out our review of the product.

OnePlus Buds Review: Design and Fit

Design of the OnePlus Buds grows on you the more you use it. Especially its Nord Blue colour variant, it is beautiful to look at. The charging case isn't too different from all the other cases out there, but it does have the colour option of Nord Blue, which makes it unique and cool in a way. No other Buds in the market come with the same colour option. It helps the consumer to stand apart from the crowd without making them look awkward.

One of the good things about the charging case is that it weighs at only 37 grams and each of the buds weighs 4.7 grams. The case comes with a matte finish and it makes it easy for the user to get a grip on it. The charging case is very handy, and anyone can very comfortably put them in their pockets. There is a button on the Charging case and it also has a USB Type-C port for charging. OnePlus isn't providing customers with wireless charging on this one, but that's alright, not a lot of people would even expect it is looking at the price of it. But its close competitor- Realme Buds is offering wireless charging which is a thing to worry for OnePlus.

But OnePlus doesn't stop to impress the customer with its unique colour just outside on the case and the buds. Once you open the charging case, you will notice a dual colour scheme which the charging case comes with. There is a light green colour scheme running inside the case. The earbuds placed inside look very elegant and are a sight for the eyes.

One thing that we would agree upon is that the OnePlus Buds do resemble the design of Apple AirPods, but you should know that there is a huge difference in the design for the product from the inside. Unlike AirPods, the OnePlus Buds come with physical buttons which are on the flat surface of the upper end of the stem.

In terms of fitting, if you have an average-sized year, you should have absolutely no problems with the fitting of OnePlus Buds in your ears. One thing that you should remember is that OnePlus is not offering additional silicon tips with the Buds, so there is no scope of improving the fitting for your ears if it doesn't fit well for you. But again, for an average-sized ear, these Buds are just fine for fitting. You can walk comfortable wearing them and listen to songs for long hours, and you won't face any problem with the Buds falling off or sliding down in any way.

OnePlus Buds Review: Connectivity, Audio and Battery Life

One of the most crucial factors that people consider before they purchase new TWS earbuds after its price is the battery and then performance. Without a good battery backup, even a good TWS earphone is useless. What would be the use of the earphone if you get the hindrance of battery every time you are listening to your favourite songs or watching the climax of a movie.

With the OnePlus Buds, you are bound to get excellent battery life. The Chinese tech giant has claimed that a user can run it for up to 7 hours which is not bad. Combined with the charging case, the customer can use it for up to 23 hours maximum, again, which is a decent number of hours. These claims are entirely accurate from the company, and along with that, there is a fast charging option available as well. The Buds can be charged fully in about 80 minutes.

As for the performance part of the OnePlus Buds. One thing that OnePlus always does is put a lot of focus on the software side of its products. The OnePlus Buds come with Google's Fast Pair feature, which is a huge bonus to the customers since they will be able to connect their Buds with their smartphone in a go. But it works best if you use it with OxygenOS. However, I did notice some frequent connection drops while using the Buds with OnePlus Nord. Also, the audio randomly pauses on YouTube Music and it resumes automatically.

The sound experience is entirely satisfactory, as well. For the price that you get these TWS earbuds for, you get a very balanced sound experience. If you love strong bass on your songs, maybe then these earbuds aren't the perfect fit for you. The mids and lows are handled by the OnePlus Buds quite smoothly, and they are suitable for hearing every day Bollywood and Hollywood songs. There is 13.4mm driver insider the OnePlus Buds which should feel good to you as well.

One feature that you are going to cherish about these earphones if you are a gamer is the low-latency gaming. With Bluetooth earphones, people generally face latency, which means desynchronisation of sound and the game. It is frustrating, but with the OnePlus Buds, you don't have to worry about it. I have played PUBG Mobile on the OnePlus Nord with OnePlus Buds as the audio source and there was no latency. Even the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z and OnePlus Nord had zero latency while playing PUBG Mobile. Latency is something that’s worrying a lot of users as people are looking to play PUBG Mobile via their Bluetooth earphones. Thankfully, the 2020 OnePlus audio products are offering low latency than any other company.

There is one thing though which OnePlus misses out on, and it is the ANC (Active Noise Cancellation). However, you do get the Environmental Noise Cancellation feature which will allow you to listen to what the speaker is saying clearly while you are in a call.

OnePlus Buds Review: Price and Verdict

OnePlus is offering the OnePlus Buds for Rs 4,990. While it is not very expensive in terms of other flagship TWS earphones from companies such as Samsung and Apple, it still offers a ton of value. If you are looking for a good and safe bet for your money, OnePlus Buds are what you can go for. There are more options for you from Realme and Xiaomi that you can look at and yes they are cheaper. Still, OnePlus does have the edge over them, not just in colour options but also in performance especially the battery life. So it would be best if you considered giving OnePlus Buds a consideration before you go out for purchasing your next TWS earphones.

Tata Sky Broadband Plans With Fixed Monthly Data Limit Start at Rs 790

Posted: 30 Aug 2020 06:34 PM PDT

This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/tatasky-fixed-broadband-monthly-plans/293643/, Tata Sky Broadband Plans With Fixed Monthly Data Limit Start at Rs 790

Tata Sky very recently added a new broadband plan to its list of offerings. The plan comes under the fixed monthly data limit. The speciality of this plan is that it is the first one in the list of offerings from Tata Sky which comes with 300 Mbps speed. None of the other plans from Tata Sky in the fixed monthly data category come with this sort of speed. Until now, the maximum speed that was offered to the customers opting for the fixed monthly data plans was 100 Mbps. So there are a total of five plans under the Tata Sky broadband plans with monthly FUP (fair usage policy), let's take a look at all of them.

Tata Sky Broadband Plans With Fixed Data Limit for 1 Month

People initially tend to go for monthly plans most of the time to check the service of the ISP (internet service provider). The cheapest plan comes for Rs 790 and offers 50 Mbps speed to the customers with a total of 150GB data. Then there are four other plans of Rs 950, Rs 1,000, Rs 1,050, and Rs 1,470.
