Vi No Longer Offering ‘Priority 4G Network’ Benefit to Customers With RedX Postpaid Plan

Vodafone Idea Limited had been going back and forth with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) discussing its 'Priority 4G Network'. For the unaware, the Priority 4G Network is a service offered to the customers who are opting the RedX postpaid plans of Vi. The Priority 4G Network plan has been removed after the rebranding of Vodafone Idea to Vi and is no longer on offering to the customers. This is so that Vi can save itself from any trouble arising from the end of Trai. Trai had asked Vodafone earlier about why did the telco not submit its Priority 4G Network offering as a new kind of service.

Priority 4G Network Benefit Scrapped from the Offerings

Priority 4G network promised customers a higher internet speed and priority when dealing with customer care service. As per an ET Telecom report, the service has been scrapped by the telco now. Trai had questioned the telco about the service saying that it is misleading the customers. Yet the website of the telco is showing that there is priority customer service still on offer.

Back in November 2019, when the offering was launched, the customers were promised that they will get 50% faster 4G speeds than the average customers. Later in May, Vodafone had changed the benefit from saying 50% faster speed to just the 'Priority 4G Network' offering faster speeds.

One of the major questions that Trai had related to the offering was that whether it would degrade the internet speed that is offered to the telco’s normal customers. Trai was looking to ban the offering from Vodafone saying that the plan is making false claims about providing users with faster speeds.

Adding to that, Trai isn't very happy with the reply that Vi has provided to its show-cause notice issued. The regulator believes that the 'Priority 4G Service' is not a continuous benefit and that it is only applied when there is network congestion. So essentially, RedX customers were not getting any kind of fast 4G speed but normal speeds during the peak hours.

The Nokia C3 comes in two variants- 2GB+16GB and 3GB+32GB, along with a microSD card slot for expanding storage.

Similar to the Nokia smartphones launched in recent years, the Nokia C3 also has a dedicated button for triggering Google Assistant. And yes, the phone runs a pure version of Android 10 out of the box. There’s a fingerprint scanner as well on the rear side of the Nokia C3. Vi Movies and TV App SD and HD Channels

2G Not Going Away Anytime Soon, Says Indian Government

A few days back, Mr Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited said that he wants to make India '2G mukt' country. There are still over 300 million people using the 2G network in India and that has to change because they don't get access to the same benefits which the people using 3G or 4G do. But the government looks at 2G in a very different way. Even though it is an outdated network technology, the Indian government believes that if there is a demand then it needs to be catered by the telecom service providers. The government has no problem with 2G as of now.

Demand for 2G Means it is Going to Stay

As per an ET Telecom report, the Indian government has given telecom service providers the right of choice of technology for providing telecom services. Sanjay Dhotre, minister of State for Communications said in Lok Sabha, Wednesday, "The choice of technology for provision of telecom services are left to the service provider as per their respective business considerations."

Even though the world is shifting to 5G, there are around 300 million Indian still using the 2G network. The government's view of 2G is if the people need it and the telecom service providers want to provide the service of it, then there is no objection to it. Telecom service providers have the right to provide any kind of network they want to using the spectrum bands made available by the government.

Mr Mukesh Ambani had said that there is an urgent need of new stringent policy measures so that India can be made 2G free which started 25 years back. Mr Ambani led Reliance Industries Limited is working on developing homegrown 5G solutions through its subsidiary Reliance Jio and as soon as the spectrum is made available, Jio will start testing for 5G. As of now, there is no information on when the 5G spectrum auctions will be held, but as per the developments in the market, it feels like it won't be this year. The government needs to bring down the price of the spectrum or else it will become too expensive for the telcos to bear the load.

Tata Sky continues to add new channels to its platform. On September 17, the DTH operator has added two new free-to-air (FTA) channels- Enterr10 and Kashish News. Existing Tata Sky customers will be able to watch both the channels for free as they are part of the FTA pack. The Enterr10 channel number is available for viewing at LCN 182, whereas Kashish News can be viewed from LCN 1125. Since Tata Sky is India’s leading DTH operator, it continually adds and removes new channels. Tata Sky also updated the list of channels on its website.

Enterr10 and Kashish News Arrives on Tata Sky

The first FTA channel, Enterr10, is owned by Enterr10 Television Private Limited. The channel was launched way back in 2006 as a free-to-air channel across all major DTH platforms. Enterr10 is categorised as ‘Hindi Entertainment’ channel, and as mentioned, it can be viewed at channel number 182. Since it is an FTA channel, users can view the new channel at no extra cost in the said LCN.

Besides Enterr10, Tata Sky is also offering Enterr10 Movies and Enterr10 Bangla at channel numbers 344 and 1333 respectively. The new Enterr10 channel is a Hindi entertainment channel which makes it a perfect choice for people who watch entertainment channels at no extra cost.

The second FTA channel Kashish News is also a free-to-air one that can be accessed at channel number 1125. Similar to Enterr10, Tata Sky users will not have to pay anything to watch the Kashish News channel. Tata Sky is categorising the channel as ‘Hindi Regional.’

Talking about Kashish News, it was launched back in 2011 from Ranchi. The channel focusses on airing news from Bihar and Jharkhand primarily. Tata Sky subscribers in the Bihar and Jharkhand region can watch regional news on Kashish News. Very recently, Tata Sky added News India 24×7 and Filamchi channels on its platform and also revised the entire channel numbers recently.

Realme Narzo 20 Pro Might Offer 65W Fast Charging and Helio G95 SoC

Posted: 16 Sep 2020 10:00 PM PDT

This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/realme-narzo-20-pro-specs-pricing/297902/, Realme Narzo 20 Pro Might Offer 65W Fast Charging and Helio G95 SoC

Realme will be launching the Narzo 20 series in India on September 21. This time around the series will have three phones- Narzo 20, Narzo 20A and the Narzo 20 Pro. As the name itself suggests, the Narzo 20 Pro will be the premium device in Narzo 20 series. Ahead of the launch, full specifications of the Narzo 20 Pro have been leaked online. Going by this leak, we can safely say the Narzo 20 Pro will just be a variant of the recently launched Realme 7 with 65W fast charging onboard. So it could be the cheapest phone with India’s fastest charging technology.

Realme Narzo 20 Pro: Leaked Specifications

The leaked specifications, coming from tipster Mukul Sharma, suggests the Narzo 20 Pro will flaunt a 6.5-inch Full HD+ display with 90.5% screen-to-body ratio and 90Hz refresh rate. Realme is focussed on offering at least a 90Hz refresh rate on smartphones above and around Rs 15,000 price point. The Narzo 20 Pro will be making use of the MediaTek Helio G95 chipset that debuted with the Realme 7 earlier this month.

The phone might come in different configurations- 6GB/8GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. There might also be a microSD card slot for storage expansion. As for the cameras, the phone is reported to have a primary 48MP lens, 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, 2MP macro lens and a 2MP B&W portrait lens. It could ship with a 16MP front-facing camera.

Lastly, the Realme Narzo 20 Pro will have a 4500mAh battery along with the incredible 65W fast charging support. Yes, you heard it right. Realme seems to be bringing the fastest charging technology in India to even lower price point. The phone weighs 191 grams and measures 9.3mm in thickness.

As you can see, the leaked specifications of the Realme Narzo 20 Pro are very much on-par with the Realme 7, except for the addition of 65W charging tech on the former. So the price of the Narzo 20 Pro could start above Rs 15,000. We are expecting it to cost Rs 17,999 or Rs 18,999. Full pricing details will be revealed on September 21 at the official launch event.
