Instagram on Wednesday said that it is rolling out a new update that enables users to create a reel up to 30 seconds in length. Instagram in early August unveiled Instagram Reels that lets users to "create and discover short, entertaining videos" on its platform. The company prior to the update had restricted the users to record and edit clips up to 15 seconds in length. It has to be noted that TikTok, the key rival to Instagram Reels, lets users create videos up to 60 seconds in length.

Instagram Rolls Out Multiple Updates to Reels

Instagram on Twitter said that the users post the update can extend the timer to 10 seconds when recording a video. The company prior to the update had restricted the timer to three seconds, a limit also applicable on TikTok.

Crucially, the Reels update is also said to include the ability to trim and delete any clip. The company said the update is intended to make it "easier and more fun" for users to make Reels.

Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, said in a tweet that the company will keep on "listening to feedback and updating the experience" of the Instagram Reels platform.

"You've been asking for more options to create and edit reels and we hope this give you more ways to have fun with them," Mosseri said in a tweet.

Instagram Testing Different Home Screen Versions

The company in early September said that it is "testing" different versions of the home screen with one step access to Reels and Shop tabs on its app. Instagram said that the updates to the home screen layout reflect "how people are using the app."

"These changes reflect shifts we're seeing from people, both in how they use the product but also how they push culture forward on Instagram: rise of creators, explosion of video, acceleration of online shopping," Mosseri said in a tweet in early September. "We want to adapt to these shifts while keeping things simple."

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is currently witnessing "severe bandwidth issue in Attappadi area" in Kerala resulting in "heavy customer complaints and churn." The development was shared by Sanchar Nigam Executives Association (SNEA) Kerala Circle in a mail to the chief general manager of BSNL Kerala circle on Monday. The Kerala arm of the SNEA, one of the largest and recognized executive associations in BSNL highlighted in the mail that the BSNL services in Attappadi area is in "heavy demand." It was said that the connectivity to the Attappadi is currently delivered through a microwave link from Mannarkkad to Kalkandi with the line extended to Agali through an optical fiber. The bandwidth for the entire area from Mannarkkad to Agali is said to have a maximum limit of 155 Mbps.

BSNL Facing Bandwidth Issues in Select Cities Across India

Additionally, it is said that the connectivity to Attappadi is also delivered through an optical fiber from Coimbatore to Agali with the operator being allotted 450 Mbps capacity.

It is said that the Attappadi area currently consists of two BSNL telephone exchanges and seven GSM sites including five 3G sites of the operator. Further, the area is also said to host five Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer, a network device that receives signals from a subscriber's DSL line at the exchange.

Crucially, two optical line termination in the area is said to serve more than 100 Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) connections with another 100 FTTH connections said to be on the waiting list.

The operator is said to currently rely on the microwave link through Kalkandi to serve its users due to the "poor reliability" of the cable emerging from Coimbatore and its low bandwidth.

BSNL Unable to Serve Users Despite Heavy Demand

The Kerala arm of the SNEA highlighted that the key rivals of the operator are yet to "build up their base" in the Attappadi area.

"The bandwidth of around 450 Mbps is totally insufficient to cater to the increasing needs of Attappadi area," the Kerala arm of the SNEA said in its letter. "The end user is suffocated with bandwidth crunch and lots of complaints are pouring in. We are also unable to give further FTTH connections in the area despite heavy demand."

The executive association made multiple proposals to the BSNL management including a proposal to implement IP microwave with at least 2.5Gbps capacity from Mannarkkad to Kalkandy. The Kerala arm of the SNEA also said that the BSNL management may look into leasing of fibre from other agencies to meet its requirements.

"It is understood that RJIO is also planning to enter the area," the Kerala arm of the SNEA said in its letter. "This may result in massive churn out of our customers unless we do something to improve the connectivity bandwidth to the region."

HFCL, a company engaged in the telecommunications infrastructure sector on Saturday said that it is currently implementing Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) network for Reliance Jio in about 300 cities across India. The development was shared by Mahendra Nahata, promoter and managing director of HFCL in its first quarter earnings call for the period ended June 30, 2020. Nahata said that the FTTH network has been a "great opportunity" for HFCL. Further, it was said that the company is expanding its capacity for fibre to home ecosystem by putting up a new facility in Hyderabad.

HFCL Implementing FTTH Network for Reliance Jio Across 300 Cities

Nahata said that HFCL is supplying the "entire range" of fibre optic cable in "large volume" to Reliance Jio. Further, Nahata said that the new production facility in Hyderabad would be active in the month of November.

"We are already expanding our capacity for FTTH fibre kind of a cable," Nahata said in the first quarter earnings call. "Moreover, apart from that, accessories for FTTH cables are also being produced in our Chennai Facility and those are also being supplied in large quantity to Jio, which is the biggest, the largest implementation of FTTH network happening by Jio."

Nahata said that the fibre prices in the country have been "more or less stable" at Rs 280 per fibre kilometer.

Additionally, Nahata said that the spectrum auction for 5G services is at least six to nine months away. Nahata said that the deployment of 5G would happen in one to one and half years from now, provided the auction happens in a six to nine months period.

HFCL Seeks More Clarity on BSNL 4G Network

Meanwhile, Nahata said that HFCL is not looking at BSNL 4G rollout as an "opportunity" due to multiple reasons including the lack of clarity on the equipment requirement and payment issues.

Nahata said that HFCL does not know what kind of equipment BSNL wants with its 4G network and "what kind of implementation" the operator plans with its 4G services.

Crucially, Nahata does not believe a "large number of companies" would participate in BSNL 4G rollout "unless there is a surety" on the payment plan. Further, Nahata said that the company would look for a "commitment" from the government on how the payment will be made or secured with regards to BSNL 4G network rollout.

Samsung is all set to launch a new smartphone series in the Indian market. The South Korean company will be launching Galaxy F41 under the brand new ‘Galaxy F‘ series on October 8. The new handset will be exclusively sold via Flipkart. Samsung already has the Galaxy M and Galaxy A series in the mid-range market. And it is unknown why the company is coming with another mid-range series. Tipsters claim that the upcoming Galaxy F41 will have very identical specifications as the Galaxy M31 and the former will have a new paint job. And the next change would be the exclusivity to Flipkart.

Samsung Galaxy F41: Confirmed Specifications

As noted, the Galaxy F41 will be exclusive to Flipkart and the e-commerce website already created a landing page for the phone. Flipkart confirmed the Galaxy F41 would have a massive 6000mAh battery and also a Super AMOLED panel. Now both these features fall in-line with the earlier rumours of the phone being a rebranded version of Galaxy M31.

As for the rumours, the Galaxy F41 was already spotted on Google Play Console listing which revealed the key specifications. The Galaxy F41 will be powered by the popular Exynos 9611 SoC and it will come with 6GB of RAM. The handset was spotted running Android 10-based OneUI 2.0. Other specs include Full HD+ screen and the teaser image also confirmed the presence of triple camera setup on the back. Samsung might go with a 64MP primary sensor similar to the Galaxy M31.

It will be interesting to see how Samsung prices the Galaxy F41. The Galaxy M31 is currently retailing at a starting price of Rs 17,499 in India on Amazon and Samsung Shop Online. The Galaxy M31s starts at Rs 19,499 in the country. If Samsung prices the Galaxy F41 for less than Rs 15,000, it will become a decent mid-range option as the phone will sport identical specs as the Galaxy M31. Tata Sky New Broadband Plans Offer Unlimited Data and Faster Speeds at Low Prices

Posted: 23 Sep 2020 06:31 PM PDT

This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/tatasky-updated-broadband-plans-detailed/299726/, Tata Sky New Broadband Plans Offer Unlimited Data and Faster Speeds at Low Prices

Tata Sky Broadband

Tata Sky had to revamp its broadband offerings looking at what JioFiber and Airtel Xstream Fiber did with its offerings to stay in the competition. Both JioFiber and Airtel Xstream FIber customers are now getting unlimited data with any of the plans they pick regardless of their price and validity. Thus Tata Sky has also introduced new plans so that its customers can get more for less. These new plans are not applicable in every telecom circle of India and thus are subject to availability. Keep reading to find out about the new plans that are launched by Tata Sky.

Tata Sky New Unlimited Data Broadband Plans

Tata Sky is providing customers with new plans under unlimited data broadband offerings. The internet service provider (ISP) has brought in new plans which are cheaper than the older offerings and offer more benefits. A thing worth noticing here is that the same has been done by Airtel Xstream Fiber and JioFiber as well. Both Airtel Xstream Fiber and JioFiber have introduced new plans which are priced cheaper than the cheapest plans on offer earlier.

Coming back to the broadband offering from Tata Sky, the internet service provider is now offering two plans in most of the telecom circles under the 1-month validity category. This is specifically for unlimited data plans. So these two plans are priced at Rs 850 and Rs 950. For the unaware, earlier the cheapest offering from Tata Sky came for Rs 950 under the one-month validity category.

Not only this, but Tata Sky has also more than doubled the benefits which came with the plan. So earlier, when people bought the Rs 950 unlimited monthly plan, they got 25 Mbps internet speed with unlimited data. But now that has been upgraded to 150 Mbps speed with unlimited data. Along with that customers can also get a landline connection by paying Rs 100 more on the base rental of the broadband plan.

Coming to the new plan of Rs 850 per month, it offers customers unlimited data and with that also provides 100 Mbps speed. The customers can also get a landline connection with this plan by paying just Rs 100 more on top of the base rental. All the prices mentioned above are exclusive of 18% tax.

Not only that, but Tata Sky has also upgraded its broadband offerings in the category of the long-term plan. It has added more than one new plans in the three-month validity category. The two new plans added are of Rs 1,797 (50 Mbps speed) and Rs 2,400 (100 Mbps speed). Customers can also get a landline connection with these two new plans, but again they Rs 100 extra on the base rental of the broadband plans.

As for the 6 months and 12 months plan, the customers don't need to pay anything extra for getting a landline connection. It will be included for free in their plan. There are new plans in this category of the validity period (6 and 12 months) as well. The good thing is that Tata Sky is offering broadband plans with more benefits for a lesser price.
