India’s third-largest telecom operator, Vodafone Idea or Vi, has just changed its carrier name to ‘Vi is here.’ The new carrier name falls in-line with the company’s announcement on September 7 that both Vodafone and Idea brands will have a single brand identity called as ‘Vi.’ The new carrier name ‘Vi is here’ is being spotted by both Vodafone and Idea customers across the country. With the telco now becoming a single brand, we can also expect improved services in the coming quarters. While the telco is pushing the new carrier name, subscribers of Vodafone Idea are complaining about the network issues they are facing for a long time now. Vi is here: The New Carrier Name for Vodafone IdeaWhen we entered into lockdown back in March this year, Vodafone created awareness among users regarding Coronavirus by changing its carrier name to ‘Vodafone- Be Safe.’ That was a temporary move from the telco back then. Now, Vodafone Idea customers can see a new ‘Vi is here’ carrier name. At the moment, we are not sure whether it is a permanent change or a temporary change to inform customers that the network integration is done and Vi is looking to improve the services. The new carrier name is being rolled out across the country. Vodafone Idea customers on Twitter started complaining to the telco that their network issues are not being solved, but it is rolling out a new carrier name. “When Vi is here. ! The complain I made last time is still pending there's no use I guess. Check the Network and Net speed in the SS. Please help how can I port please message,” wrote Abhinav Singh to Vodafone Idea on Twitter. In other news, Ravinder Takkar, MD and CEO, Vodafone Idea Limited, in a written email asked the customers to join the company’s new journey. “If you're a part of the Vodafone or Idea family, you'll automatically become a part of Vi™. If you’re on any other network, now’s the best time to be a part of this journey, that’s brimming with endless possibilities,” he wrote in the email. | Airtel Picks ITI for Xstream Fiber Expansion, LCO Cities Miss Out OTT Benefits Posted: 08 Sep 2020 02:03 AM PDT This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/airtel-picks-iti-xstream-fiber-expansion/295831/, Airtel Picks ITI for Xstream Fiber Expansion, LCO Cities Miss Out OTT Benefits
ITI Limited, a company engaged in the telecommunications space on Monday said in an exchange filing that it has received a Letter of Intent from Bharti Airtel for its Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) expansion. The company said that the work would involve laying of optical fibre backbone for broadband connectivity in eight circles across India. ITI said that it would take around three months to execute Airtel's FTTH expansion project. However, ITI nor Bharti Airtel highlighted the eight circles currently said to witness the Xstream Fiber expansion. Bharti Airtel Set to Expand Xstream Fiber Services in Over 50 CitiesIt has to be noted that Airtel has highlighted that its Xstream Fiber services will soon be available in over 50 cities across India. The company in August added a "launching soon" tag in multiple cities such as Ahmednagar, Ariyalur, Barwani, Chamrajnagar, Chamoli, Champawat, Chikodi, Dindori, Jalna, Kaushambi, Kodagu, Mahendragarh, Maharajganj, Mewat, Mirzapur, Parbhani and Raigad. Further, Airtel in August highlighted that Ramnagara, Rudraprayag, Saran, Shrawasti, Sivaganga, Tehri Garhwal, Thiruvannamalai, Thoothukudi, Udhampur, Uttarkashi, and Viluppuram would also soon receive Airtel Xstream Fiber services. The company since early 2020 had been adding the "launching soon" tag on various cities in India. While the COVID-19 lockdowns temporarily halted the Xstream Fiber expansion, Airtel since late June had launched its FTTH services in over 15 cities across India that earlier had the "launching soon" tag. The "launching soon" tag is also currently visible on various other cities including Akola, Aligarh, Amravati, Bahraich, Barabanki, Bikaner, Chandauli, Chandrapur, Davanagere, Dharamshala, Dhule, Hosur, Jalgaon, Jhunjhunu, Latur and Muzzafarnagar. LCO Cities Currently Miss Out on Complete Benefits of Revamped Xstream Fiber PlansMeanwhile, several Airtel Xstream Fiber users on social media have highlighted that the company does not offer Xstream Box with Over-the-Top (OTT) content in the Local Cable Operator (LCO) cities. Airtel on Sunday revamped its Xstream Fiber plans with the company introducing an Xstream Bundle that offers users a complimentary access to OTT content through the Xstream Set-Top Box (STB). The company said that the complimentary OTT access would be enabled on platforms such as Disney+ Hotstar, Amazon Prime Video and Zee5. However, as reported by TelecomTalk on Monday, the OTT access is currently enabled to Xstream Fiber users opting for the Xstream STB. Further, the users are also required to pay Rs 153 per month as network capacity fee charges to access internet "services" such as OTT apps on the Xstream STB. The company offers Xstream Fiber services in certain cities such as Nashik, Dehradun and Bundi through LCO franchises. Airtel on its Xstream Fiber portal highlights the revamped plans with "unlimited" data in the LCO cities but the company does not list the "Free Xstream Box" banner as found in other cities. Airtel in an updated terms and conditions page that it unveiled earlier said that the "OTT benefit will be offered every month as per the eligible plan" to users in LCO cities. However, the company does not highlight the Xstream Box requirement as listed in non-LCO cities. | Airtel Xstream Fiber Rs 499 Plan Vs JioFiber Rs 399 Plan: All You Should Know Posted: 07 Sep 2020 06:32 PM PDT This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/airtel-xstream-fiber-rs499-plan-jiofiber-rs399-plan/295706/, Airtel Xstream Fiber Rs 499 Plan Vs JioFiber Rs 399 Plan: All You Should Know
A few days back JioFiber announced an update on its broadband offerings. Along with adding a new plan, the internet service provider also added a demo offer for the customers. Earlier, the cheapest offering from JioFiber came for Rs 699 per month offering 100 Mbps speed, but that changed to Rs 399 per month offering 30 Mbps speed. Accordingly, Airtel also updated its offerings. The telecom operator updated its broadband offerings and introduced a new cheaper plan of Rs 499. So now there are a total of five plans offered by the Airtel Xstream Fiber. Today, we are going to compare both the cheapest offering from the broadband service providers, i.e., their Rs 499 vs Rs 399 plan. Airtel Xstream Fiber Rs 499 Plan Vs JioFiber Rs 399 PlanAirtel Xstream Fiber is now providing a new broadband plan for Rs 499. It is a new plan which has been added to the website and offering of the telco from September 7, 2020. With this plan, the customers will get unlimited internet. Earlier, the Rs 799 plan, which was the cheapest didn't come with unlimited data. For unlimited data, customers had to pay Rs 299 extra on a monthly basis. But now, every plan from Airtel Xstream Fiber is being offered with unlimited data. Along with that, the customer also gets an unlimited voice calling option. The plan offers 40 Mbps speed which justifies the price it comes for. But it is not just this, in the Xstream bundle that you will get there is also Airtel Xstream 4K TV Box included. For it, the customer will have to pay just Rs 1,499 (security deposit) which will be refundable by the company. You will get the 10,000+ movies along with shows from 7 OTT apps and 5 studios. Coming to the JioFiber, its new plan has been launched for Rs 399. It is Rs 100 cheaper but it also offers 10 Mbps lesser internet download and upload speed. The JioFiber Rs 399 plan also comes with unlimited data for the month. It is important to note that both JioFiber and Airtel Xstream Fiber Rs 399 and Rs 499 unlimited plans come with a 3.3TB data FUP limit. Another thing to note is that there are no OTT benefits with the Rs 399 broadband plan from JioFiber. However, there is still unlimited calling available for the users. Comparing both the plans, it is clear that while Airtel Xstream Fiber's Rs 499 plan is Rs 100 more expensive than the JioFiber's Rs 399 plan, it comes with more speed and OTT benefits which the JioFiber plan doesn't include at all.
