In what would be considered as massive news to PUBG Mobile fans across the country, PUBG Corporation today announced that it is preparing to launch ‘PUBG Mobile India,’ a new game created for the Indian market. The Indian government banned PUBG Mobile’s global version in India at the start of September citing data hosting and security reasons. This made PUBG Corp. bring a dedicated version for the Indian market. The company also revealed plans to provide a secure and healthy gameplay environment alongside investments to cultivate local video game, esports, entertainment, and IT industries.

PUBG Mobile India Version to Have Some Changes Tailored for Local Market

Firstly, PUBG Corporation stated the privacy and security of Indian player data is a top priority. The company says it will conduct regular audits and verifications on the storage systems holding Indian users’ information to reinforce security and ensure that their data is safely managed. It will host the entire data of Indian players locally, thanks to the recent partnership with Microsoft Azure.

Besides data hosting and security, the Indian government also raised concerns regarding the nature of the game. To build and foster a healthy gameplay environment, in-game content will be improved and tailored to reflect local needs, said PUBG Corporation in a press release.

Furthermore, it also confirmed that various aspects of the game will be customised for Indian gamers, such as the game now being set in a virtual simulation training ground, new characters automatically starting clothed, and green hit effects to reflect the virtual nature of the game. More importantly, the company plans to include a feature that places restrictions on game time to promote healthy gameplay habits for younger players.

At the moment, there’s no proper release date for the PUBG Mobile India version, but the Twitter account of the company indicates the launch date will be revealed tomorrow.

Lastly, PUBG Corporation also announced plans to create an Indian subsidiary to enhance communications and services with players. The Indian company will hire over 100 employees specialising in business, esports, and game development. In addition to establishing a local office, the company will look to actively collaborate and leverage local businesses to strengthen its gaming service. It is also planning to make investments worth $100 million in India.

realme-7-5g-launch-on-november-19

Realme is soon going to launch the Realme 7 5G in the European market. The Chinese smartphone maker has been sending out e-invites for the launch event. The e-invite says the launch will take place on November 19, 10 AM GMT (3:30 PM in India) and can be accessed through the YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook accounts of the company. For the unaware, this is not the first device in the Realme 7 series. There is already Realme 7, 7 Pro, and 7i present. But this will be the first device to come with 5G connectivity support. More details on the story ahead.

Realme 7 5G Specifications (Expected)

The Realme 7 5G is anticipated to be a rebranded version of Realme V5. This is because much recently, a Realme device carrying the model number RMX2111 was spotted on the NBTC website. What's interesting is that the same model number was associated with the Realme V5 launched back in August in India.

Thus it can be assumed that the Realme 7 5G will come with a 6.5-inch display with support for 90Hz refresh rate. The device might get a punch-hole design at the center of the screen for housing the selfie camera.

The Realme 7 5G is expected to be powered by the octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC. There may be a quad-camera setup at the rear with a 48MP sensor as the primary lens paired with an 8MP ultra-wide angle sensor and two 2MP sensors as well. The front camera might house a 16MP sensor for clicking selfies and video calls.

There may be a 5,000mAh battery inside the smartphone which could support 30W fast-charging. For additional security, the fingerprint sensor is expected to be mounted at the side of Realme 7 5G. There might be a 3.5mm headphone jack present as well.

Realme 7 5G Price (Expected)

Realme hasn't hinted about the price of the product yet. But as per online leaks, the Realme 7 5G is expected to be priced CNY 1,499 (approximately Rs 17,000) for its 6GB+128GB variant and CNY 1,899 (approximately Rs 21,400) for its 8GB+128GB variant. This is the China pricing, but it does give some hints about the original pricing of the product.

bharti-airtel-picked-by-analysts-to-deliver-long-term-growth

Multiple analysts expect the telecom industry to outperform in the upcoming quarters due to "increased demand for data" with the analysts placing their bets on Bharti Airtel to deliver long term returns in the sector. Airtel, the second-largest wireless operator in India has been in the spotlight in the recent months with the operator consistently registering more active users on its network as compared to its rivals. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on Tuesday released the Telecom Subscription Data for the period ended August 31, 2020, with the data highlighting that Airtel added over 2.8 million users. Reliance Jio, the largest wireless operator in India is said to have added over 1.8 million users in August.

Analysts Expect Bharti Airtel ARPU to Hit Rs 208

Crucially, the Telecom Subscription Data for the period ended August 31, 2020, also highlights that Bharti Airtel has 96.85% active users on its network. The key rivals of Airtel including Vodafone Idea and Jio registered 88.18% and 78.86% active users respectively.

Axis Securities on Tuesday said in a report that Airtel registered "solid numbers" in its second-quarter results of the current financial year "beating consensus estimates both on financial and operating parameters." The firm highlighted that Airtel recorded 3% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) growth in its average revenue per user (ARPU) to Rs 162 "which was significantly higher than expectations."

"Jio’s ARPU improvement to Rs 145 from 140 was higher than Bharti on account of price hikes but Bharti still has the best quality subscriber," Axis Securities said in its report.

Further, Axis Securities also highlighted that the complete impact of the tariff hikes unveiled by the telecom operators in December, 2019, was already seen in the fourth quarter of the previous financial year.

"The ARPU improvement in Q2FY21 was a function of customers upgrading [to 4G] and better postpaid sales," Axis Securities said in its report. "However, considering the industry structure further tariff hikes cannot be ruled out in the forthcoming quarters which will lead to consistent EBIDTA improvement."

Axis Securities said that it forecasts 13% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for Bharti Airtel in terms of its revenues between FY20 to FY23.

"Our forecast is based on significant ARPU improvement from current Rs 162/subs/month (Q2FY20) to Rs 208/subs/month by end of Q4FY23," Axis Securities said in its report.

The firm also said that the Airtel's value "could increase by a further" Rs 40 per share if Vodafone Idea shuts down its operations in the country.

Telecom Industry Expected to Outperform in the Upcoming Quarters

Meanwhile, IDBI Capital in its report on Tuesday said that the Indian telecom market has only "two strong players." The firm in its report named Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel as the "strong players" in the industry.

"Bharti has a strong market share in the premium subscribers (postpaid/high pre-paid) which places it well to take advantage of increasing data consumption and expected increase in ARPU," IDBI Capital said in its report.

The firm said that the regulatory headwinds such as the adjusted gross revenue (AGR) case are "largely behind" and that Airtel is "well placed to make the balance payment over the stipulated time period."

Crucially, IDBI Capital also highlighted that the second-largest wireless operator in India never had issues in raising the required capital.

"While 5G rollout would need CAPEX, BHARTI has never faced issues in raising capital," IDBI Capital said in its report. "Further, it has ~54% stake in Bharti Infratel which can also be used to raise capital."

Similarly, Motilal Oswal in its on Tuesday said that Airtel's "execution has been top-notch in the last few quarters, evident" from its financial results, subscriber additions and ARPU improvements. The firm said that its is "positive" on multiple sectors including telecom to deliver in the next 12 month period.

Identical sentiments on the telecommunications industry were also shared by other firms such as Axis securities and Angel Broking.

"Telecom is also expected to continue doing well given increased demand for data and gradual increase in ARPUs due to consolidation in the industry," Angel Broking said in a report on Wednesday.

Country's second-largest telecom operator, Bharti Airtel hosted India's first O-RAN Alliance Plugfest recently. The event was aimed to demonstrate and explain the growing maturity and development of O-RAN (Open-Radio Access Network) ecosystem in serving the customers and clients with better and new technologies such as the 5G network. For the unaware, O-RAN Alliance was announced back in 2018, and major telecom companies across the world such as AT&T, Orange, China Mobile and more have been a part of it. Bharti Airtel has also been a part of the group since its inception. More details on the story ahead.

Airtel Hosts First O-RAN Alliance Plugfest in India

O-RAN Alliance is committed to working on developing radio access networks (RAN) for making them smarter and better than the previous generation networks. Bharti Airtel has recently hosted the first-ever O-RAN Alliance Plugfest in India.

Thing worth noting here is that Airtel was the first telecom company in India which commercially deployed a virtual RAN as per the open architecture suggested by the O-RAN Alliance. The telco is committed to developing and providing better RAN solutions to its innovative and disruptive partners all around the world to enable them to create solutions capable of solving problems in scale.

The recently held O-RAN Alliance event was the second time this sort of event took place. In this Indian edition of the event, Airtel partnered up with the leading companies such as VIAVI Solutions, VVDN, Xilinx, NEC, Mavenir, Altran, ASOCS, and Altiostar for demonstrating multiple technology use cases of the O-RAN networks, including 5G.

Randeep Sekhon, CTO, Bharti Airtel said, “We are committed to evolving our network through an open architecture and are delighted to partner with the O-RAN community. This offers a great opportunity to Indian organizations with innovative hardware, software and services capabilities to build a "'Make in India – O-RAN solution."

Andre Fuetsch, Chairman of the O-RAN Alliance, said that integration and testing of the open RAN ecosystem is necessary before rolling it out commercially. That is why the Alliance helps its members by providing them with an efficient global plugfest framework which complements the O-RAN software community.

DoT Interpretation of AGR Dues Payment Timeline Different from Airtel and Vodafone Idea

dot-agr-dues-airtel-vodafone-idea

Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has approached the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta for seeking his opinion on the adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues payment timeline. Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) have said that they have already paid more than 10% advance on the dues as per the Supreme Court's (SC) order. But according to an ET Telecom report, DoT believes otherwise. Thus the government body is out seeking professional legal opinion on the matter to rule out any confusions relating to the payment timeline of AGR dues that exist between the telcos. More details on the story ahead.

DoT Says Telcos Need to Pay 10% Advance Before March 31, 2021, Telcos Say, Already Paid

Bharti Airtel and Vi had AGR dues of over Rs 43,980 crore and Rs 58,254 crore respectively. Out of which, Airtel has paid Rs 18,004 crore, and Vi has paid Rs 7,854 crore already. Thus the telcos have told DoT that they have paid more than the 10% advance due before March 31, 2021.

But DoT is under the impression that according to the SC order, the telcos needed to pay the 10% advance on the remaining amount due and not on the total amount due this year. But the telcos have refrained from accepting this definition of the order from DoT and have said they are only liable to pay the next instalment on March 31, 2022.

DoT said that the SC was aware of the payments that the telcos have already made on their AGR dues. Thus the order meant for the telcos to pay 10% advance on the remaining dues and the rest of the amount would be distributed in the next 10 years.

Since the telcos and DoT couldn't come to a consensus, the government body has sought for a professional legal opinion from Solicitor General Tushar Mehta on the same. The SC had asked the telcos to pay the 10% amount in the current financial year (FY). But leaving the amount paid by Vi in July this year, the telcos made most of the payments in the previous FY.

Apple Offering Two Models of 13-inch MacBook Air and Four Models of 13-inch MacBook Pro

OnePlus Nord N100 and N10 5G Will Receive Only One Major Android Update

Posted: 11 Nov 2020 09:29 PM PST

This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/oneplus-nord-budget-phones-android-update/310127/, OnePlus Nord N100 and N10 5G Will Receive Only One Major Android Update

Chinese smartphone vendor OnePlus today confirmed that its latest budget phones under the Nord series- the Nord N10 5G and the Nord N100 would receive only one major Android update. This news will disappoint a lot of users in the United States and other western countries where the company is selling both these phones. The Nord N10 5G and the Nord N100 are the company’s first attempt at the budget segment in the US and Europe, but both the phones did not launch in India. Both the phones are currently running OxygenOS 10.5 based on Android 10, so the update to Android 11 will be the final one for them which is disappointing to hear.

OnePlus N10 5G and Nord N100: Android 11 Will Be the Only Major Update

OnePlus is known for pushing iterative Android updates faster than any other manufacturer. To recall, OnePlus made a big deal a couple of years ago saying it is the only manufacturer to provide three years of Android updates back then. It seems like the timely software updates will remain exclusive to OnePlus flagships only. OnePlus confirmed to Android Central that both the Nord N10 5G and Nord N100 would get only one major Android update which is Android 11. And that’s all. So one major update and two years of security updates have been confirmed for these budget phones.

This is something unusual from OnePlus‘ standards, but this is what every manufacturer do when it expands the product line. For example, Xiaomi provides only one iterative Android update, but it delivers MIUI updates for several years.

“The Nord N10 5G and N100 will receive one major Android update and a total of two years of security updates. The plan for these two devices aligns with industry standards for smartphones in more affordable price ranges. As always, we will continue listening to feedback from our users and looking for ways to improve the software experience for all OnePlus devices,” OnePlus spokesperson said to Android Central.

Every manufacturer faces challenges in providing software updates on time as their product line grows. The OnePlus Nord launched in India will not fall under this category and should receive at least two major Android updates over the next couple of years.

BSNL Fiber Basic Plus Plan With 60 Mbps Speeds and Unlimited Data Launched at Rs 599

This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/bsnl-fiber-basic-plus-broadband-plan/310096/, BSNL Fiber Basic Plus Plan With 60 Mbps Speeds and Unlimited Data Launched at Rs 599

BSNL is aggressively launching new broadband plans in the country to take on JioFiber and Airtel Xstream Fiber. The government-owned PSU launched a new ‘Fiber Basic Plus’ plan at Rs 599 taking on the Rs 499 Airtel Xstream Fiber plan. The new plan from BSNL offers a decent 60 Mbps speeds and it also comes with unlimited data benefit. The best part is that BSNL is launching the new plan across all the circles where it is currently offering Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) services. However, the broadband plan will not be available in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. In addition to launching the Rs 599 plan, the Internet Service Provider (ISP) also made the Rs 449 plan available across all the circles. The new plan will be available for customers from November 11, 2020.

BSNL Fiber Basic Plus Plan: What It Offers

BSNL’s all-new Fiber Basic Plus broadband plan offers 60 Mbps speeds up to 3300GB. However, the ISP is marketing the plan as an unlimited data plan similar to rival broadband operators. After the users exhaust the monthly FUP limit, speeds will be reduced to 2 Mbps. But do make a note that there’s no limit on how much users can download or upload at 2 Mbps speeds after crossing the FUP limit.

Users choosing this broadband plan will also get 24 hours of unlimited calling to any network within India. The monthly price of the plan is Rs 599, excluding taxes. Sadly, BSNL did not launch the plan in long-term packages, so you will have to choose the monthly option itself.

As of this writing, we don’t have any information regarding the OTT subscriptions offered by the ISP with the new Rs 599 plan. This news is first reported by KeralaTelecom and independently verified by TelecomTalk.

As noted, BSNL is also revising the Rs 449 Fiber Basic plan. The entry-level plan will now be available across all the cities except Andaman & Nicobar. Earlier, the Rs 449 broadband plan was limited to select cities. It offers 30 Mbps speeds up to 3.3TB and is a direct competition to JioFiber’s Rs 399 plan. The Rs 449 plan price will be changed after the first six months of subscription by the customer, BSNL stated.
