Facebook today announced a new feature called ‘Vanish Mode‘ for both Messenger and Instagram. As the name of the feature itself suggests, messages vanish or disappear automatically once the receiver views it. Users can send memes, GIFs, stickers or reactions in the vanish mode and everything disappears without staying in the chat history. The feature is currently rolling out to Messenger and Facebook says it will reach Instagram in a few days from now. Besides Vanish Mode, Instagram is also getting a brand new Reels tab and a Shop tab. The Reels tab will make it easier for every user to discover short videos, whereas the Shop tab allows the user to connect with brands in a better, more straightforward way. Messenger and Instagram Vanish Mode: How to Use It?How vanish mode works is straightforward- messages disappear after they’re seen and you leave the chat. To turn the vanish mode on, swipe up on the mobile device in an existing chat thread and you’re in vanish mode. Swipe up again and you're back to your regular chat. That's it. There are some notable things worth knowing about the Vanish Mode. Facebook says it designed the vanish mode with safety and choice in mind so that the users can control their experience. Only people you're connected to can use vanish mode with you in a chat. Vanish mode is also opt-in, so you choose whether to enter vanish mode with someone. If someone takes a screenshot of your chat while you're using vanish mode, you'll be notified. And as always, you can block someone and report a conversation if you feel unsafe. When you first swipe up, you'll see a screen that explains key features, including more details on blocking and reporting. As noted, Facebook is rolling out the vanish mode on both Messenger and Instagram. The new feature will be now available on Messenger in the US and a handful of other countries, and it will reach more countries soon. Vanish mode on Instagram will be coming to the US and other countries soon confirmed the social media giant in a blogpost. | Disney+ Hotstar and Disney+ Together Adds 16 Million Subscribers in Q3, 2020 Posted: 13 Nov 2020 02:45 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/disney-hotstar-adds-16-million-subscribers/310391/, Disney+ Hotstar and Disney+ Together Adds 16 Million Subscribers in Q3, 2020
Two of the leading over-the-top (OTT) platforms globally, Disney+ and Disney+ Hotstar added about 16 million new subscribers in the quarter ended September 2020. While both the platforms are slightly different, they are owned by the same company, Disney. The quarterly earnings report of Disney's streaming services came out on Thursday. The numbers were revealed by Christine McCarthy, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Senior Executive Vice President of Disney. As per a report from Gadgets360, McCarthy noted that together, Disney+ and Disney+ Hotstar added over 16 million new subscribers in the Q3 (July to September), 2020. More details on the story ahead. Disney+ Hotstar Total Subscriber Base Grows to 18.5 Million Paid SubscribersPost the addition of new subscribers in the Q3, 2020, the Disney+ Hotstar streaming platform reached over 18.5 million paid subscribers taking the total subscriber base to 73.7 million globally for Disney+. One of the biggest reasons cited by McCarthy behind the addition of a large number of subscribers was the delayed Indian Premier League (IPL). Since IPL's streaming rights are with Disney+ Hotstar, the only way to watch it online was through purchasing a subscription of the streaming platform. A thing worth noting here is that Disney+ Hotstar VIP subscription was available for just Rs 399 per year; thus users didn't wait too much to subscribe. Now even though the IPL has ended, these new subscribers will be there for one year at least until their subscription expires. In April, Disney had revealed that it had over 8 million paid subscribers. This means that the streaming platform has more than doubled its existing paid subscribers base. McCarthy said, "Disney+ ended Q4 with 73.7 million paid subscribers or an increase of over 16 million subscribers versus Q3. Disney+ Hotstar subscriber additions were the largest contributor to this increase, driven by the start of the delayed IPL season. Disney+ Hotstar subscribers now account for a little over a quarter of our global subscriber base." These numbers are hard to compare with that of Netflix and Amazon Prime Video since there is no clarity on the number of subscribers both these platforms have. | Redmi Note 10 4G Might Come With 48MP Primary Sensor and 6,000mAh Battery Posted: 13 Nov 2020 01:45 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/redmi-note-10-4g/310349/, Redmi Note 10 4G Might Come With 48MP Primary Sensor and 6,000mAh Battery
Xiaomi has launched some very successful smartphones under its Redmi brand. Especially the Redmi Note series has been impressive for the users and now reports suggest that the Chinese mobile maker is going to launch the Redmi Note 10 4G (which is not the official name) with a 6,000mAh battery. Gizmochina spotted a new device from Redmi in the TENAA listings carrying the model number 'M2010J19SC'. It is being assumed that this model number is of the Redmi Note 10 since the same model number was also spotted in the 3C listings last month. More details on the story ahead. Redmi Note 10 4G Specifications (Expected)The TENAA listing shows that the new device has a display size of 6.53-inch and measures 162.29×77.24×9.6mm. As mentioned above, the model number of this device is the same as that of found on the 3C listings last month; thus there is a strong chance that it is the Redmi Note 10 4G. Digital Chat Station, a popular Chinese tipster, also said that the Redmi Note 10 4G might come with a full-HD (1,080×2,340 pixels) LCD screen. Adding to this, the smartphone is expected to sport a 48MP primary sensor at the rear and an 8MP sensor at the front for clicking selfies and video calls. The rear camera setup is expected to come with three camera sensors. There are no hints about which processor will power the device, but the processor is expected to be an octa-core chipset clocking at up to 2.0 GHz. As mentioned, the device might carry a massive 6,000mAh battery and come with support for 22.5W fast-charging. The Redmi Note 10 4G is expected to weigh 198g. Xiaomi has not made it clear yet as to when it will launch the Redmi Note 10 4G. At the same time, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is expected to launch new devices for the Redmi Note 9 series very soon. Just a couple of days back we reported that the new Redmi Note 9 5G is expected to be priced at Rs 11,200 for the low-end model and the top-end model might be priced at Rs 16,800. Instagram, one of the most popular social media platforms in the world, announced 'Reels' a few months back on August 5, 2020. Reels was announced as a medium for people to create, share, and discover short, entertaining content on Instagram. Since then, Reels has become quite popular amongst the users of the social media application. Thus, Instagram has recently announced that users will now find a dedicated Reels button at the bottom of the app screen. Along with the Reels button, a 'Shop' button will be added well—more details on the story ahead. Instagram to Add New ButtonsBoth the 'Shop' and 'Reels' button is supposed to help users get quick access to the features. A thing worth noting here is that a dedicated Reels button is already present at the bottom menu on the app window. But after the update, it will be shifted to the right side since the 'Search' button will come back down. The 'Shop' button will take the users to a new window where all the creators and brands on the platform have listed their products. What's interesting is that in the image of the new app layout shared by Facebook through a release, it can be seen that the 'Notifications' and 'Add Post' button will shift on top of the screen, right beside the 'Messages' button. One thing that a lot of users would appreciate is bringing back the 'Search' button at the bottom of the screen. It is just a lot more convenient, and also the addition of the 'Shop' button will help the creators and small businesses grow on digital platforms. Facebook Brings Vanish Mode to MessengerAlso, Facebook has rolled out the Vanish mode for users in the US. The feature was announced by the social media giant back in September 2020. The Vanish mode has been rolled out for the Messenger app, and it is very much similar to that of Snapchat. To access this feature, users can swipe on their regular chat, and the Vanish mode will appear. For switching back to the old chat settings, users can swipe back again. | PUBG Mobile Comeback in India Could Face Hurdles from the Government Posted: 12 Nov 2020 08:12 PM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/pubg-mobile-comeback-government-hurdles/310319/, PUBG Mobile Comeback in India Could Face Hurdles from the Government
Yesterday, PUBG Corporation announced the return of popular mobile game PUBG Mobile in India. The company announced a new version of the game ‘PUBG Mobile India’ which is designed for the country. However, the return of the popular game will likely face hurdles from the Indian government, says a new TOI report. Citing sources aware of the matter, the publication says the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is considering relaxation to the game only if PUBG Corporation addresses all the concerns raised. In the press statement yesterday, PUBG Corporation said it is making some changes to the PUBG Mobile India version alongside saving the data locally. Government May Not Allow Relaxation to PUBG Mobile“Unless they address the concerns, it will be difficult to grant any relaxation,” the sources close to MeitY said to TOI. It was expected that the government would watch the comeback of PUBG Mobile to India very closely. And going by this report, we can assume that the ministry is yet to grant permission to PUBG Corporation to launch PUBG Mobile India version. PUBG Corporation is betting on two main factors for re-entering India; The first one is the data localisation and security. Thanks to its recent partnership with Microsoft Azure, PUBG Corporation will now be able to store the data locally. And the second one is the nature of the gameplay. PUBG Corp. says it is making some changes to the game so that it can satisfy the norms set by the ministry and also match the local needs. We are not sure how PUBG Corporation is looking to launch the PUBG Mobile India. Various reports on the web suggest the game will be limited to popular streamers in the country initially. Maybe PUBG Mobile India will be available for the public once PUBG Corporation receives required permissions to relaunch the game. For the unaware, the Indian government had banned PUBG Mobile and PUBG Mobile Lite games along with 117 other Chinese apps back in September this year. | Vi Rs 699 Postpaid Plan Offers Unlimited Data and Amazon Prime Subscription Posted: 12 Nov 2020 05:49 PM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/vi-rs699-postpaid-plan-benefits/310297/, Vi Rs 699 Postpaid Plan Offers Unlimited Data and Amazon Prime Subscription
Vodafone Idea is offering some of the best postpaid plans in the industry at the moment. However, with the launch of JioPostpaid Plans, the Mukesh Ambani-owned telco again became the centre of the stage as they are affordable, offers OTT subscriptions and comes with a host of other benefits. Vi now has just four postpaid plans aimed at the individual users and they are priced at Rs 399, Rs 499, Rs 699 and Rs 1,099. The Rs 699 Vi postpaid plan aimed at the individual users is probably one of the best offerings right now thanks to benefits like unlimited data (capped at 150GB per month) and a slew of other benefits. Vi Rs 699 Postpaid Plan: What It Offers?Starting with the basic benefits, the postpaid plan comes with unlimited voice calling to any network within India, 100 SMSes per day and unlimited data. The unlimited data benefit with the Rs 699 postpaid plan is a unique offering. Even though the telco is capping the monthly data at 150GB, it is the most offering by any telco in the price range. In comparison, the Rs 599 JioPostpaid Plan comes with 100GB of data with data rollover up to 200GB, whereas the Rs 799 JioPostpaid Plan offers 150GB data per day. On the other hand, the Rs 799 Airtel Infinity plan comes with 125GB of data benefit along with 200GB data rollover facility. The Rs 699 plan from Vi lacks data rollover facility since the telco is already offering 150GB data benefit. Vi is calling this plan as ‘Entertainment Plus,’ probably because of the monthly data benefit. As for other benefits offered by Vi’s Rs 699 postpaid plan, there’s the Amazon Prime subscription worth Rs 999 per year, Rs 125 MPL bonus cash, Rs 200 off on your food orders on Zomato and Vi Movies & TV subscription. JioPostpaid Plus plans offer additional OTT subscriptions like Netflix Mobile plan worth Rs 199 per month, Disney+ Hotstar VIP membership worth Rs 399 for one year and the standard Amazon Prime subscription worth Rs 999. As you can see, if we keep the OTT subscription benefits aside, the Rs 699 Vi postpaid plan is a clear winner on the data front. The telco also has the Rs 1,099 REDX postpaid plan with unlimited data, unlimited voice calls, 100 SMSes per day, one year of Netflix worth Rs 5,988 per year, Amazon Prime membership, access to International & Domestic airport lounges at no extra cost- four times per day and seven days of international roaming pack worth Rs 2,999 will also be available for free.
