Ericsson, in its ‘Mobility Report‘ for November, highlighted that 5G would represent 27% of mobile subscriptions in India at the end of 2026. Ericsson estimates India to have around 350 million 5G subscriptions. However, the telecom gear market believes that LTE will continue to be the dominant technology in India, even in 2026. LTE might account for 63% of mobile subscriptions in 2026 followed by 5G. India is the second-largest telecom market in the world. Despite being one of the leading markets, India is yet to get a single 5G network. The government is not holding the spectrum auction as telcos are opposing the high prices and even asking to delay the auction.

LTE Will Still Be Dominant Technology in India by the End of 2026

While 5G is expected to pick up the pace in India, LTE will become more dominant by the end of 2026, according to Ericsson. The ‘Ericsson Mobility Report’ for November 2020 says mobile broadband technologies accounted for 63% of mobile subscriptions in 2020, and this figure is predicted to reach 91% by 2026 when the total number of mobile broadband subscriptions is set to reach close to 1.2 billion.

The average monthly data usage per smartphone continues to show robust growth, boosted by the rapid adoption of 4G and people working from home during COVID-19. Furthermore, Ericsson says the dependent of people on mobile networks to stay connected as well as work from home during the pandemic has contributed to the average traffic per smartphone user increasing from 13.5GB per month in 2019 to 15.7GB per month in 2020. The average traffic per smartphone is expected to further increase to around 37GB per month in 2026.

Nitin Bansal, Head of Network Solutions for the Market Area South east Asia, Oceania and India, says “5G has the potential to transform industries and society at large – with use cases such as smart manufacturing, smart cities and advanced healthcare applications, just to mention a few. As the technology proliferates, early movers stand to benefit by gaining the right experience and creating new use cases of relevance to their business. The companies and countries taking an active role in shaping and securing the 5G ecosystem in the early years have great potential to lead use case scaling once the market takes off.”

According to Ericsson’s Capturing business opportunities beyond mobile broadband report, 5G business potential industry revenues for Indian operators stands at $17 Bn by 2030, with the Manufacturing sector ($3.74 Bn), Energy and utilities sector ($2.57Bn) and Agriculture sector($1.5 Bn) being the biggest contributors respectively.

FAU-G or Fearless and United Guards is one of the most talked mobile games next to PUBG Mobile India in recent times. The game, which is developed by nCore Games, was supposed to release this month. However, the launch was delayed and the company today made a pre-registration page live on the Google Play Store. It seems like the developers of FAU-G will release the game for Android first as the pre-registrations for iOS are yet to go live. The launch of FAU-G will likely clash with PUBG Mobile India comeback next month. While FAU-G is trying to gain popularity with the anti-China sentiment and locally made game, PUBG Corporation is attracting up the players by releasing teasers about its comeback with a new version called PUBG Mobile India.

FAU-G or Fearless and United Guards: How to Pre-Register

The pre-registration process for FAU-G is straightforward. Head over to Google Play Store and search for FAU-G. If your device is eligible, the pre-registration button in green colour will appear. All you need to do is hit the pre-register button and wait for the official release. That said, once the game launches, Google Play Store will send a notification to all the users who pre-registered for FAU-G. If you are on a Wi-Fi connection, the game will automatically download. At the moment, there’s on information on the official launch date and we are not sure when the pre-registrations will go live for iOS users.

Bengaluru-based nCore Games developed FAU-G and Bollywood hero Akshay Kumar mentors the project. The game was originally announced in September right after the government imposed a ban on PUBG Mobile in the country. This sparked a lot of speculations on the ban of PUBG Mobile, however, FAU-G creators later confirmed their announcement has no relation with PUBG Mobile’s ban.

Having said that, FAU-G was supposed to arrive in October itself, but it was delayed. Instead, the company seeded a teaser of the game to the public on October 25 saying the game will arrive in November. We are now on the last day of November and right when everyone was wondering where’s FAU-G, nCore Games released the game on Google Play Store for pre-registration.

As for the gameplay, the Google Play Store listing of Fearless and United Guards (FAU-G) says ‘High up on the peaks at India's northern border, an elite fighting group protects the nation's pride and sovereignty. It's a daunting task, for the most courageous: The Fearless and United Guards.’

The game will be centred around FAU-G commandos on patrol in dangerous border territory. These commandos will fight the hostile invaders on Indian soil. And lastly, it is said that FAU-G is a proudly ‘Made in India’ project that pays tribute to the heroes of our nation’s armed forces. The company already confirmed a 20% revenue in the game will go to ‘Bharat Ke Veer’ trust.

5g-impact-indias-telecom-industry

5G connectivity would be a positive boost for the Indian telecom industry believes Rajen Vagadia, Vice President and President of Qualcomm and SAARC. India stands to gain a lot from 5G once it arrives in the country. This is because India has a huge market that needs a massive upgrade. Thus the government of the country can release the appropriate amount of spectrum at affordable prices for the telecom operators so that they can test 5G and bring it to the Indian market as soon as possible—more details on the story ahead.

Government Can Trigger Indian Telecom Growth by Releasing 5G Spectrum

As per a report from PTI, Vagadia said that standing as the second-largest telecom market in the world; the Indian telecom industry will see a huge growth if the government releases the 5G spectrum.

Due to the pandemic, data consumption amongst users has only grown, and this is just the beginning, demand for connectivity is only going to grow further from here. Vagadia believes that the time for rolling out 5G services in the country isn't a choice anymore, but a pre-requisite for the growth and development of India.

He further said that because the networks are congested, the need for spectrum across mmW bands (millimetre wave) is critical right now. 5G is the answer to a lot of questions that the telecom industry is looking for.

Vagadia said, "We are driving conversations at all levels of the ecosystem to catalyse the commercial reality of 5G in the country – from telco, education, healthcare, automotive, medicine to manufacturing."

He also stressed on the fact that 5G will play a much bigger role than any other previous generation technology played in the growth of various industries across India. Qualcomm has already partnered with several companies across the country and the world to help develop 5G solutions.

Reliance Jio and Qualcomm have tested their 5G solutions and been able to reach a speed of 1 Gbps. So now the decision rests on the hands of the Indian government. As of now, 5G spectrum auctions are not expected to be held until next year.

how-to-report-complaint-bsnl

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is one of the major telecom operators of the country. Even though the operator hasn't entered the 4G domain in its full capacity yet, it remains one of the largest telcos in India nonetheless. BSNL has been operating for two decades now and has served millions of Indians. As we all know, BSNL has faced its fair share of issues. But it is not just the telco, but also the subscribers who have faced issues with the services of BSNL. It is quite normal though, no service is fault-proof. So if you are facing any issues with the network service of BSNL, then here is how you can file a complaint with the telco online.

How You Can File a Complaint to BSNL About Faulty Services Online?

First of all, BSNL offers users a grievance form wherein they can explain or give an idea about the issue they are facing to the telco with its services. The link to that form is this – http://210.212.70.157/pgs/internet/pgwebregn.asp. After clicking on the link, you will be redirected to the 'Grievance Registration Form of BSNL'.

After that, there are a series of boxes that you need to mandatorily fill. Firstly, you will be prompted to select the telecom circle you live in. After doing that, you need to enter your name in the 'Name of Subscriber' field.

Below it, in the 'Address' field, you will enter the address of your home where you are currently facing issues. Then you will have to enter the pin code of your city or area in the 'Place/Exg-Code'. For helping BSNL reach you, you will also have to enter your mobile number and e-mail address.

The next mandatory field that you must fill carefully is 'Grievance Nature'. You will get a series of options in the kind of grievance that you are facing. Once you have done that, in the last field called 'Grievance in Brief', you can explain the issue that you are facing with the service of BSNL in detail.

After explaining the issue in brief, you can click on the 'Submit' button for sending the form to BSNL or click on the 'Exit' button to cancel your form.

Home Broadband Has Largely Been An Urban Product: Motilal Oswal

home-broadband-largely-an-urban-product
Motilal Oswal, an Indian firm engaged in financial services on Friday said in a report that the home broadband segment in India was a "dull market for a decade." The firm said that the home broadband segment accounted for "minuscule" US$2 billion in market size. Motilal Oswal highlighted that the home broadband segment registered "modest" subscriber growth in the past five years with annual compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of "just 5%." The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) in a report in early November said that India had 20.47 million wired broadband users as on August 31, 2020.

Home Broadband Segment Witnessed Limited Investments

Motilal Oswal in its report said that home broadband has "largely been an urban product with low penetration of 7% due to limited network connectivity." The firm said that the limited availability of home broadband has led to the "increased wireless consumption" across the country due to its simple and "convenient installation" and activation.

"This is the classic chicken and egg story – telcos historically have neither invested in network nor increased home passes, given the high gestation period and lower business viability; on the other hand, consumer complaints related to the lack of network/product availability are observed frequently," Motilal Oswal said in its report.

While the home broadband segment in India witnessed "limited investments," Motilal Oswal said that segment globally is a "well-networked infrastructure" driven by deeper Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) penetration "supported by lower FTTH deployment cost" per subscriber.

In 2018, Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries highlighted in the company's 41st annual general meeting (AGM) that the company is eyeing 50 million homes with its JioFiber service. The 50 million subscriber target was reiterated by Ambani at the 43rd Reliance Industries AGM in July, 2020.

"A player of this scale and past record could clearly drive growth in the ecosystem," Motilal Oswal said in its report. "The RJio target is a massive 2.5x higher than the existing industry subscriber base of 20.5m."

However, the firm said that the subscriber growth may only be "gradual" due to multiple issues such as execution woes, high investment requirements and regulatory hurdles. According to Trai, Reliance Jio has 1.25 million wired broadband users as on August 31, 2020.

Home Broadband Segment Providing opportunities for Big and Small Players

Motilal Oswal highlighted that the wireline broadband segment is "dominated" by telecom operators including state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Bharti Airtel. Further, the firm also said that 20% to 25% are "premium" high average revenue per user (ARPU) subscribers while the rest are currently enrolled on low ARPU plans. The financial services firm also said that Airtel along with "select other players" have stepped up network rollout with the entry of Reliance Jio in the home broadband space.

"Nevertheless, the market for even regional players remains buoyant, especially in the recent lockdown, as our channel check suggests there is increased demand for low ARPU conventional home broadband connectivity," Motilal Oswal said in its report.

The firm said that it expects Reliance Jio to "intensify competition" in the wired broadband segment with "lower price point packages and aggressive marketing."

"On the other hand, Bharti could also certainly ride the wave as its product and network capability are at par with RJio and consumer awareness and demand for home broadband solutions are picking up," Motilal Oswal said in its report.

Vi Rs 1,197 Prepaid Recharge: 1.5GB Daily Data, Weekend Data Rollover and More for 180 Days

It is safe to say that Vodafone Idea (Vi) is doing everything possible to attract the customers. After announcing the new brand identity Vi a couple of months ago, the telco has been unstoppable, especially in the prepaid segment. Vi introduced a prepaid plan that extends your smartphone’s validity, and it also came up with a unique scheme called ‘Weekend Data Rollover‘ as part of which you can carry forward unused data from the weekdays to weekends. Not only that, the telco has some of the best-prepaid plans with long-validity on a budget as we reported very recently. Vi has a prepaid recharge of Rs 1,197 which is unique in several ways such as the validity, data benefit it offers and the weekend data rollover facility as well. Continue reading this article to more about the Vi Rs 1,197 Prepaid Recharge in detail.

Vi Rs 1,197 Prepaid Recharge: Benefits Detailed

Not every telecom operator in India is providing prepaid plans with six months validity. Reliance Jio used to have Rs 999 prepaid pack a year ago, but that disappeared in recent months. Whereas Bharti Airtel never focussed in providing a 180-day or six-months pack to the prepaid users. BSNL, on the flip side, has few prepaid plans with six months validity, but the lack of 4G services is keeping its customers away from long-term plans.

Vodafone Idea has a prepaid recharge of Rs 1,197 that comes with 180 days service validity, unlimited voice calling to any network in India, 1.5GB data per day and 100 SMSes per day. The price of the plan is very close to the Rs 1,499 yearly plan of Vodafone Idea, but the data benefit is on the higher side. The Rs 1,499 Vi annual plan comes with 24GB data, while the Rs 1,197 plan ships with 270GB data which is ten times the data benefit offered by the affordable annual plan from Vodafone Idea.

And on of that, the Rs 1,197 Prepaid Recharge also falls under the list of prepaid plans with ‘Weekend Data Rollover’ facility. The leftover daily data benefit from Monday to Friday will be carry forwarded to Saturday and Sunday allowing customers to binge-watch TV shows during the weekends. The plan also offers free access to Vi Movies & TV. It is one of the best-prepaid plans offered by Vi right now.

The Vi Rs 1,197 is available for recharge via the company’s website and mobile app.

However, the phone is now retailing for Rs 6,999 after the price hike. To recall, Xiaomi launched the Redmi 9A in two variants- 2GB+32GB and 3GB+32GB, priced at Rs 6,799 and Rs 7,499, respectively. The latter also comes with MediaTek Helio G35 SoC compared to the Helio G25 chipset we get on the former.

Talking about the specifications of the Redmi 9A, the phone flaunts a 6.53-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and 20:9 aspect ratio. At the heart of the phone is the MediaTek Helio G25 chipset, paired with up to 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
