Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) recently announced a discount on its prepaid plans for customers exclusively in grace period 2. It is a special discount of 25% applicable on two prepaid plans of the telco – special tariff voucher (STV) 187 and plan voucher Rs 1,499. The state-run telco has announced this offer to reduce the percentage of its inactive user base. This is a golden time for the prepaid users with expired validity on their plans to get a new plan with a 25% discount—more details on the story ahead.

BSNL Offering STV 187 and Plan Voucher Rs 1,499 for 25% Discount

BSNL is giving the STV 187 and plan voucher 1,499 for a 25% discount to the prepaid users in grace period 2. So the effective price of the prepaid plans after discount will be, Rs 139 for the Rs 187 STV and Rs 1,119 for the Rs 1,499 plan voucher.

There are terms and conditions associated with the offer as well. Any of the value-added services (VAS) won't be extended with these two discounted vouchers. Incoming SMS facility will be provided to the prepaid users in grace period 2 and beyond grace period 2 under this promotional offer. Once the offer ends though, the SMS facility will be stopped again. Adding to this, the users in grace period 2 will be provided with two SMS daily from the telco.

The STV 187 offers users unlimited voice calling with 2GB fair usage policy (FUP) data every day. Once the FUP data is exhausted, users can continue browsing at 80 Kbps speeds for the rest of the day. Along with this, users also get 100 SMS/day. The validity of the STV 187 is 28 days.

The Plan Voucher 1,499 ships with unlimited voice calling as well as 24GB free data and 100 SMS/day. The validity of this plan is normally 365 days, but the telco had earlier announced that users purchasing this plan within 90 days of its release would get an additional validity of 30 days. So the total validity of the plan voucher 1,499 would become 395 days.

In an attempt to attract digital TV subscribers, Bharti Airtel is bundling OTT subscriptions with its Android TV-based Xstream Box. Airtel’s popular Xstream Box is now available in two new variants for new customers who are looking to purchase it, and they are Xstream Box Premium (listed as Xstream Premium) and Xstream Box Basic (listed as Xstream Basic). The Airtel Xstream Box Premium plan comes bundled with OTT subscriptions worth Rs 2,399, whereas the Xstream Box Basic is the standard plan which was available for customers for a long time. Furthermore, the company is providing an additional 10% discount on all the Set-Top Boxes purchased online.

Airtel Xstream Box Premium Plan Detailed

The Airtel Xstream Box Premium plan costs Rs 4,898 and offers a host of benefits. For starters, it offers them the Airtel Xstream Box hybrid Set-Top Box (STB) which runs on Android TV platform. As always, Airtel continues to offer a free subscription to one of its channel pack worth Rs 462 free for seven days. Users can change the digital TV pack after seven days as per their choice.

Here’s the interesting part: the Xstream Box Premium plan offers free Amazon Prime subscription worth Rs 999 for one year, free ZEE5 Premium subscription worth Rs 999 for one year, free Disney+ Hotstar VIP membership worth Rs 399 and free Airtel Xstream Premium subscription worth Rs 1,299 for one year. As you can see, the overall subscription charges for these OTT subscriptions will be Rs 3,696, however, the company is offering all these benefits for Rs 2,399.

The overall price of the Xstream Box Premium plan is Rs 4,898. As noted, Airtel is running a promotional offer as part of which users can avail additional 10% discount up to Rs 300 on online payments. This offer brings down the final price to Rs 4,648, but do make a note that you will have to make the payment online to avail the 10% discount. And lastly, Airtel is providing one-year of additional STB warranty worth Rs 100 for free.

Airtel Xstream Box Basic Plan Detailed

Next on the list is the Xstream Box Basic plan which is the standard plan we have been seeing for a long time. Under this plan, a new user can get the Airtel Xstream Box at Rs 2,499 with free Xstream Premium subscription for one year. Users can also choose the OTT apps subscription package worth Rs 1,699 during the check out which will provide them free subscriptions of Disney+ Hotstar VIP, ZEE5 Premium and Airtel Xstream Premium for one year. Do make a note that the free Amazon Prime subscription does not ship with this Xstream Box Basic plan.

Airtel will also provide an additional 10% discount on online purchases with Xstream Box Basic plan as well which brings down the overall price even further.

Tata Sky Broadband recently introduced a 300 Mbps plan in several cities to match rival Internet Service Providers (ISPs) like JioFiber, Airtel Xstream and BSNL. The 300 Mbps broadband plan is the fastest plan offered by Tata Sky right now. If you look at the competition, JioFiber and Airtel Xstream Fiber are offering 300 Mbps broadband plans for around Rs 1,500 price tag. And Tata Sky Broadband is providing the same 300 Mbps plan for Rs 1,600 which is on-par with the competition. It is good to see Tata Sky joining the race to compete with other operators, but the service is limited to only a few cities at the moment. The 300 Mbps broadband plan from Tata Sky is available in several subscriptions like monthly, six months and one year.

Tata Sky 300 Mbps Broadband Plan: Users Can Get Rs 3,600 Off

Starting with the benefits of the 300 Mbps broadband plan from Tata Sky, it offers unlimited data benefit; While the company is marketing the plan as an unlimited one, there’s a 3.3TB or 3,300GB FUP limit every month. Since the FUP limit is on the higher side, there’s no data rollover facility available with this plan from Tata Sky.

Users can avail the plan for various subscriptions periods. The plan costs Rs 1,600 per month and Rs 4,800 for three months. For six months and 12 months, Tata Sky will charge Rs 8,400 and Rs 15,600, respectively. As you can see, the company is offering a discount of Rs 1,200 and Rs 3,600 on the semi-annual and annual plans. Do make a note that the prices mentioned above are excluding GST.

Furthermore, users will also get unlimited voice calling benefit through Tata Sky’s landline service that was launched recently. Lastly, Tata Sky users choosing the 300 Mbps plan will get a free dual-band router on a returnable basis. Also, the company will waive off installation charges.

While Tata Sky’s 300 Mbps plan is priced on the competitive side, the fact that the ISP isn’t offering any OTT subscriptions will not impress many. For example, JioFiber’s 300 Mbps broadband plan priced at Rs 1,499 offers free access to 12 OTT apps and the subscription benefit is Rs 1,800 per month. On the same lines, Airtel Xstream Fiber’s 300 Mbps plan also comes with several OTT subscription benefits.

If Tata Sky manages to offer OTT subscription benefits with its 300 Mbps plan, it will attract a lot of users. Another thing worth noting is Tata Sky is not bundling its Binge+ Set-Top Box with broadband plans which Airtel and JioFiber are offering bundling with almost every broadband plan.
