reliance-jio-plan-disney-hotstar-vip

Reliance Jio offers multiple plans to its users with unique benefits applied to each of them. Some plans come with longer validity, some with medium, and some with small-term validity. The thing is, the telco has done a good job of ensuring that there is something for everyone. However, if you are looking for a plan with long-term validity which also offers a ton of data with OTT benefits from Reliance Jio, keep reading ahead. We are listing a plan which provides the user 1GB of data for only Rs 3.51 along with Disney+ Hotstar VIP benefit.

Reliance Jio Rs 2,599 Plan

The one we are talking about is the Rs 2,599 plan from Reliance Jio. With this plan, the user gets a free over-the-top (OTT) benefit of Disney+ Hotstar VIP. For the unaware, Disney+ Hotstar VIP costs Rs 399 for the whole year, but with this plan, it comes absolutely free.

The Reliance Jio Rs 2,599 plan comes with 740GB total data with a validity of 365 days. This data is distributed as 2GB daily fair usage policy (FUP). The user also gets 10GB bonus data with this plan.

In other benefits, there is unlimited calling included as well. But the unlimited calling is only for Jio to Jio. For other networks, there is a FUP limit of 12,000 minutes. Once the 12,000 minutes are over, the user can purchase more FUP minutes from Jio, so there is no worry about that. In addition to calling, users also get 100 SMS/day along with a complimentary subscription of all the Jio apps.

What's worth noting here is that there is another plan from Reliance Jio which comes with similar benefits. It is the Rs 2,399 plan. But this plan doesn't offer users 10GB of bonus data, and also there is no added benefit of Disney+ Hotstar VIP.

With the Rs 2,399 plan, users get each GB of data for Rs 3.28, which is effectively cheaper than the Rs 2,599 plan. But as mentioned above, there is lesser data and a missing benefit of Disney+ Hotstar VIP.

india-to-become-leading-mobile-manufacturer

Ravi Shankar Prasad, Telecom and IT Minister of India has said that India has goals of becoming the biggest mobile manufacturing nation in the world. Currently, it is in the second position behind China and has been like that since 2017 now. As per a PTI report, India is looking to expand into mobile manufacturing segment along with other electronic products as well. He said this would be possible with the help of production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme introduced by the government which is attracting global smartphone manufacturers to come and set up their production in India — more on the story ahead.

India to Leave Behind China in Mobile Manufacturing

Prasad, in his statement at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) annual general meeting (AGM), said that India is now pushing ahead of China for being the largest mobile manufacturing nation in the world.

It is expected that India will have an electronic manufacturing turnover of around Rs 26 lakh crore by the year 2025 as per the National Policy on Electronics. Out of this, Rs 13 lakh crore which is the half of it is expected to be contributed by the mobile phone industry alone.

Prasad said that the PLI scheme is made with a vision to attract and allow the biggest tech companies in the world to come to India and set up their manufacturing and production plants locally. Already multiple global tech giants such as Apple and Samsung have benefitted from the scheme.

In another report from Gizmochina, Samsung is looking to shift its display manufacturing plant from China to India. The cost of doing so for the company is expected to be around $655 million. The South Korean giant has plans to shift the facility from China to Uttar Pradesh (UP), India.

The Uttar Pradesh government will exempt the company from tax payable on the transfer of land for the factory. Samsung will be getting financial incentives of around Rs 7 billion for setting up the display facility in India. The exact time of this move is not yet clear, but it should take place next year. This move from Samsung will further boost the Make in India scheme of the government.

jio-download-speeds-hit-20mbps-november
Reliance Jio, the largest wireless operator in India delivered average download speeds of 20.8 Mbps in November, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) data reveals. According to the data released by Trai on its MySpeed Portal, Indian telecom operators largely delivered improved download speeds in November as compared to the previous month. The data released by Trai on its MySpeed Portal on Thursday is said to be generated using the authority's MySpeed App designed to measure the "data speed experience." The application also "captures and sends coverage, data speed and other network information along with device and location of the tests" to Trai.

Indian Telecom Operators Register Download Speed Improvements

In the previous month, the largest wireless operator in India registered 17.8 Mbps average download speed.

According to the Trai data, Vodafone emerged second on the list with the operator registering 9.8 Mbps average download speed in November. The operator in the previous month registered 8.8 Mbps average download speed.

With an average download speed of 8.8 Mbps in November, Idea was the third fastest operator in India. The operator in the previous months was listed as the second fastest operator in India with Idea in October registering an 9.1 Mbps average download speed. It also has to be noted that the Idea was the only operator in India to register a dip in 4G download speed in November.

Further, Bharti Airtel, the second largest wireless operator in India registered 8 Mbps average download speed in November. In the previous month, the operator registered 7.5 Mbps average download speed.

Vodafone Continues to Deliver Higher Upload Speeds

The Trai data also highlights that Jio and Airtel registered improvements in upload speeds in November while Vodafone maintained its upload speeds as in the previous month.

Jio is said to have registered 3.7 Mbps average upload speed in November as compared to 3.5 Mbps in the previous month. It also has to be noted that the largest wireless operator in India continues to deliver lower upload speeds as compared to its rivals.

Further, Airtel also registered an improvement in upload speed in November as compared to the previous month. The second largest wireless operator in India recorded an 4 Mbps average upload speed in November as compared to the 3.8 Mbps it registered in October.

Similar to its download speeds, Idea also registered a marginal dip in its upload speed in November. The Trai data highlights that Idea registered an 5.8 Mbps average upload speed in November as compared to 5.9 Mbps it registered in the previous month.

However, Vodafone continues to deliver higher upload speeds as compared to its rivals with Trai data highlighting that Vodafone maintained its 6.5 Mbps average upload speed in November. The operator since September has been maintaining an average upload speed of 6.5 Mbps.

Telecom Industry to Witness Potential Price Hike of 15-20% in Coming Months: Motilal Oswal

tariff-hikes-should-come-anytime-icici-securities

Analysts are predicting telcos in India will raise tariff prices very soon. Motilal Oswal Financial Services, in its new report, said the Indian telecom industry would witness a price hike of 15-20% due to “weakening subscribers growth.” The report first published by ET Telecom also highlights that struggling telco Vodafone Idea will raise the tariff prices first, followed by other operators. Vodafone Idea already raised the prices of its entry-level family postpaid plans in the UP East circle, and the same could be implemented in other circles as well. Vi is currently on a tariff plan launch spree as the telco introduced a couple of new Family postpaid and the Rs 65 prepaid plan.

Tariff Hike in India: What to Expect?

“A price hike, which looked uncertain in the last 6-9 months due to the challenging economic scenario, has started to look imminent with weakening subscriber growth across players. Our recent interactions with industry experts indicate a potential price hike of 15-20% in the next two months,” Motilal Oswal Financial Services said in a report, as reported by ET Telecom.

As we already know, the Trai is all set to launch introduce floor pricing in the industry. However, there’s no proper timeline provided by the sector regular for the rollout of floor pricing. Another research firm CLSA predicts that the delay in floor pricing rollout by Trai could force Vodafone Idea to increase the tariff prices.

Bharti Airtel did not hike the postpaid tariffs as Vodafone Idea did recently. This is because the former is in a better position compared to the latter. Trai said Airtel added more subscribers than Jio in September 2020, something which wasn’t expected.

“With an intensifying market-share battle, sector floor tariffs will be preferred, in our view. And even if Bharti Airtel does not lead in tariff hikes, it had the best flowthrough of Dec-19 increases and its ARPU is at a 12-24% premium to peers,” CLSA added.

We haven’t seen any signs of Vodafone Idea prepaid tariff hike as of this writing. Analysts earlier predicted that Vi would raise tariffs in early December, but that didn’t happen. A late-December hike is also on the cards. Vodafone Idea now has less than 300 million customers, whereas Bharti Airtel is closing in with Reliance Jio in terms of Active User Base.

Vodafone Idea Brings Back Rs 65 Prepaid Recharge With Rs 52 Talk Time

Posted: 13 Dec 2020 08:22 PM PST

This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/vi-rs65-prepaid-recharge-relaunch/316763/, Vodafone Idea Brings Back Rs 65 Prepaid Recharge With Rs 52 Talk Time

Vodafone Idea has now brought back the Rs 65 prepaid recharge pack under the ‘combo’ plan section. To recall, Vi used to offer Rs 65 Active Recharge pack in the past, but it was removed as part of the tariff hike that happened in December 2019. So it is safe to say the company has brought back the Rs 65 recharge exactly after one year of removing it. That said, the benefits offered by the reintroduced Rs 65 combo plan are different when compared to the old Rs 65 Active plan. Vi is now offering Rs 52 of talk time benefit and 100MB of data. Most importantly, the plan comes with 28 days of service validity. Another thing worth noting is the plan is available only in select circles at the moment, but we are expecting it to reach all the 22 telecom circles very soon.

Vodafone Idea Rs 65 Combo Plan: What It Offers?

The Rs 65 Combo plan joins the list of existing Combo plans such as Rs 39, Rs 49, Rs 79 and Rs 95. Benefits of the new combo plan include Rs 52 limited validity talk time, 100MB of 2G/3G/4G data and all the voice calls will be charged at one paise per second. Lastly, it comes with 28 days of service validity which will be the key factor for choosing this plan. If you are someone looking for an almost full talk time plan with a decent rate cutter, you should not look past the new Rs 65 Combo plan.

Aforesaid, the Rs 65 Vi Combo plan is not applicable in all the circles. Instead, it is available only in select circles like Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Maharashtra & Goa, Mumbai and so on. Maybe, Vodafone Idea might launch this new plan in other circles depending on the response it receives in the launched areas.

Vi Combo Plans Offer Up to 56 Days Validity

With the new addition, Vi now has five Combo plans on offer for prepaid customers. The Rs 39 pack comes with Rs 30 talk time, 100MB data and 14 days validity. Following the Rs 39 plan is the Rs 49 Combo pack which is probably the best option for several customers as it provides Rs 38 talk time, 150MB of data and 28 days of validity.

The Rs 95 Combo plan comes with 56 days of validity, Rs 74 talk time and 200MB of data. Vi is also running a limited period offer as part of which customers can avail double data by recharging the Combo plans on Vi’s mobile app or website.

Airtel Digital TV Secondary Connection Users Can Avail 200 FTA Channels for Rs 52 NCF

Posted: 13 Dec 2020 05:51 PM PST

This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/airtel-digital-tv-secondary-connection-ncf/316740/, Airtel Digital TV Secondary Connection Users Can Avail 200 FTA Channels for Rs 52 NCF

DTH operator, Airtel Digital TV, currently stands on the third place in terms of subscriber base. The DTH arm of Bharti Airtel has been adding new subscribers every month, and it is reporting around one lakh new users every quarter. Airtel Digital TV is amongst the first DTH operators to implement the recent changes coming directly from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai). The Trai has changed the landscape of the DTH market with the National Tariff Order (NTO) 1.0 & 2.0 in recent years. As part of the NTO 2.0 that became effective earlier this year, the Trai has revised the Network Capacity Fee (NCF) for both primary and secondary connections. Continue reading to know the full NCF charged by Airtel Digital TV for secondary connections.

Airtel Digital TV NCF for Secondary Connections Detailed

As everyone might be aware of by now, the Network Capacity Fee is common across all the DTH operators and it is implemented by the Trai. Still, for those who are unaware of the NCF charges, Airtel Digital TV primary connection users can avail 200 SD FTA channels for Rs 153.4 (including taxes) and 200 SD FTA channels for Rs 188.80. The DTH operator allows all the customers to choose the FTA channel pack via its mobile app or website’ self-care portal.

Now, coming to the NCF charges for secondary connections, the company will charge Rs 52 (Rs 61.36 including taxes) for the first 200 SD channels and Rs 64 (Rs 75.52 including taxes) for 200 SD channels.

Airtel Digital TV existing users can contact the customer support or log into the self-care portal on the web to request a secondary connection. Customers availing a secondary connection will also be required to purchase a new Set-Top Box, but the price of the STB will be slightly lower compared to the standard HD STB price of Rs 1,300.

In other news, Airtel DTH is also offering a 10% discount on new connections, similar to Tata Sky. Customers purchasing a new Airtel Digital TV connection can apply the code ‘ADTV10’ to avail 10% discount of up to Rs 300. Airtel Digital TV HD Set-Top Box is currently available for purchase at Rs 1,300, and the basic regional channel packs start at around 100. On top of every channel pack, users will be charged Rs 153 as NCF which is again something introduced by the Trai last year.
