| JioFiber Subscriber Base Increased by 3 Lakh, BSNL Lost 1.8 Lakh Broadband Users in September Posted: 03 Dec 2020 07:46 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/jiofiber-bsnl-subscriber-base-september-2020/314736/, JioFiber Subscriber Base Increased by 3 Lakh, BSNL Lost 1.8 Lakh Broadband Users in September
Mukesh Ambani’s JioFiber wired broadband service has added three lakh new customers during September 2020, the latest data from Trai suggests. Next to JioFiber is Bharti Airtel’s Xstream Fiber service that added just over 66,000 new users. State-run BSNL lost over 1.8 lakh existing customers during the same period. Just a few days ago, we reported that BSNL managed to add around 87,000 new broadband users in October. So it will be exciting to see how BSNL turned the tables in just a month. BSNL’s affordable broadband plans with 3.3TB FUP limit went official at the start of October, so that could be one of the reasons behind the major subscriber additions. Despite losing 1.8 lakh existing users, BSNL is still the leading wired broadband service provider with a market share of 38.55%. JioFiber Now Has Over 1.5 Million Users: Trai DataAt the end of September 2020, the overall broadband subscriber base increased to 21.12 million from 20.47 million in August 2020. BSNL is leading the market with 38.55% share, followed by Bharti Airtel (21.99%), MTNL (15.10%), Reliance Jio (10.35%), Tata Tele (8.51%) and Vodafone Idea (2.52%). As you can see, PSUs account for 53.65% share, whereas the private operators secured 46.35% share. The Trai data further suggests the top five wired broadband service providers at the end of September 2020 are BSNL with 7.80 million customers, Bharti Airtel with 2.60 million users, Atria Convergence Technologies with 1.73 million users under its belt, Reliance Jio Infocomm with 1.52 million customers and Hathway with 1.05 million users. As for the top five wireless broadband services, Reliance Jio leads the list with 404.13 million customers. Bharti Airtel has 163.41 million wireless broadband users, Vodafone Idea has 119.84 million and BSNL ends the list with 17.03 million broadband users. JioFiber is adding new customers on a decent note, but the company’s goal of achieving 50 million subscribers is still a distant dream. BSNL, somehow, has to retain its existing subscribers, but the PSU is facing stiff competition from almost every ISP. To tackle the competition, BSNL launched a Rs 449 broadband plan with 30 Mbps speeds and 3.3TB FUP limit available across all the circles. We now need to wait for the Trai subscription data for October to see how BSNL performed after the introduction of affordable broadband plans. | Bharti Airtel Adds Twofold Subscribers Than Reliance Jio in September: Trai Posted: 03 Dec 2020 06:39 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/airtel-double-users-jio-trai-september/314729/, Bharti Airtel Adds Twofold Subscribers Than Reliance Jio in September: Trai
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) released the Telecom Subscription Data report for September 2020. For the second straight month, Bharti Airtel has outperformed Reliance Jio by adding 3.77 million new users compared to 1.46 million new users added by the latter. The report also highlighted that Airtel ended the month with 326.61 million subscribers under its belt, whereas Jio tops the chart with 404.13 million users. Vodafone Idea continues to lose the subscribers and as per the latest report, the telco had lost 4.65 million existing users. Analysts are predicting that Airtel is securing Vi’s lost customers which could be the reason behind the former’ sudden rise in subscriber additions. Airtel and Jio Have Almost Equal Active Subscribers: TraiAt the end of September 2020, Reliance Jio ended the month with a market share of 35.19%, followed by Bharti Airtel with 28.44% and Vodafone Idea with 27.73%. BSNL is fourth on the list with 10.36% market share and MTNL with 0.29%. Despite Jio having 404.13 million subscribers under its belt, the active userbase of the telco is on par with that of Airtel. Out of Airtel’s 326.61 million users, a staggering 96.90% (316.49 million) users are VLR (active wireless subscribers). Second on the list is Vodafone Idea whose 261.23 million subscribers out of 295.50 million are active. Reliance Jio is third on this list with 318.28 million active users out of 404.13 million customers. BSNL has just 51.92% users active on its network out of the total reported subscriber base of 118.99 million. The reason behind both Airtel and Vodafone Idea having more active users than Reliance Jio is the minimum recharge policy. Both the telcos are forcing customers to make monthly minimum recharges to keep their mobile number active. Reliance Jio does not have any such policy at the moment and the telco is providing unlimited incoming calling facility, unlike Airtel and Vi. Trai also added that a total of 8.71 million requests were received for Mobile Number Portability (MNP). The large portion of these requests might be from Vodafone Idea customers who are said to be ported out to Airtel and Reliance Jio. Broadband service providers have upped their offerings game with the rising competition in the market. Three years back, no one would have thought receiving not one, not two, but multiple free subscriptions of over the top (OTT) platforms with their broadband plans. Not just the free OTT subscriptions but the sheer speed and the unlimited data that most of the service providers offer to the users was unimaginable to a person three years back. But things have changed now, and they have certainly changed for the better. Mentioned below are the top offers that you can get from JioFiber, Airtel Xstream Fiber, and BSNL Bharat Fiber. JioFiberJioFiber offers users unlimited data which is 3.3TB or 3,300GB data with each of its fibre internet plans. One of the most interesting offers by JioFiber to its customers is the free Set-Top Box (STB) on purchase of any of the plans. Even if the user is purchasing the cheapest broadband plan from JioFiber, he/she is eligible to receive a free STB. In addition to this, all the JioFiber plans priced Rs 999 per month or more come with free OTT benefits. JioFiber also offers a free Netflix subscription to users purchasing broadband plans worth Rs 1,499 per month or more. Airtel Xstream FiberAirtel Xstream Fiber also offers its users 3.3TB or 3,333GB data with each of its plans. Along with that, there are multiple OTT benefits included with each of its plans, even the cheapest one. Users also get free installation service from the service provider when they purchase a broadband plan for 3 months or more. Users of the Xstream Fiber can also get a free Android STB from Airtel, but for that, they will have to add the Xstream Box to their plan by paying refundable security of Rs 1,500. With the STB, they will also get a free subscription of the Amazon Prime Video and ZEE5. Airtel Thanks benefits are also provided to the Xstream Fiber users. BSNL Bharat FiberBSNL has also entered the domain of offering freebies to the users; better late than never. Some of the BSNL Bharat Fiber plans introduced lately offer users 3.3TB or 3,300GB data for the month. BSNL Bharat Fiber users get a free subscription of Disney+ Hotstar Premium with multiple plans which none of the above-mentioned broadband providers offers to their customers. | Vivo V20 Pro 5G vs OnePlus Nord 5G: Which One Should You Go For? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 03:30 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/vivo-v20-pro-5g-oneplus-nord/314684/, Vivo V20 Pro 5G vs OnePlus Nord 5G: Which One Should You Go For?
Vivo V20 Pro 5G was launched just yesterday for the Indian market. However, the OnePlus Nord 5G has been in the market and the hands of the users for quite a few months now. OnePlus Nord 5G was recognised as the best selling smartphone in the mid-range segment by a Counterpoint report. But now, Vivo V20 Pro 5G running on the same SoC as of the Nord 5G and in the same price range has arrived to give the OnePlus Nord 5G a tough competition. So which one is better and which one should you go for? Keep reading ahead to find out! Vivo V20 Pro 5G vs OnePlus Nord 5G: Design and BodyIt is worthy to note that Vivo has claimed the V20 Pro 5G to be the thinnest 5G smartphone in India in its category. The dimensions of the Vivo V20 Pro 5G are 158.82 x 74.20 x 7.39mm and the device weighs very light at 170 grams. However, the OnePlus Nord 5G isn't far too behind the V20 Pro 5G. Its dimensions are 158.3 x 73.3 x 8.2mm, and it weighs 184 grams. In terms of the design, both the devices come with a plastic body build, but there is added glass build on the Nord 5G. There are two camera sensors at the front on both the devices. It is worth noting that neither of the devices are waterproof and both of them come with an in-screen fingerprint scanner. Vivo V20 Pro 5G vs OnePlus Nord 5G: DisplayThe Vivo V20 Pro 5G comes with a 6.44-inch full HD+ AMOLED display and an added support of HDR10. OnePlus Nord 5G comes with a 6.44-inch display as well and gets the support of 90Hz refresh rate. There is also Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top of OnePlus Nord 5G for extra protection. Vivo V20 Pro 5G vs OnePlus Nord 5G: Hardware and SoftwareAs mentioned above, both the Vivo V20 Pro 5G and OnePlus Nord 5G run on the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC. The chipset is paired with Adreno 620 GPU. Even though both the devices have the same chipsets, their performance isn't alike. This is because as much as the hardware is essential, software should be top-notch as well. The Vivo V20 Pro 5G runs on FuntouchOS 11 based on Android 10 whereas the OnePlus Nord 5G runs on the OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11 out of the box. Users can get the OnePlus Nord 5G in different RAM and internal storage variants such as 6GB RAM with 64GB internal storage, 8GB RAM with 128GB internal storage, and 12GB RAM with 256GB internal storage. However, the Vivo V20 Pro 5G comes in a single variant only which is 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. Vivo V20 Pro 5G vs OnePlus Nord 5G: CamerasVivo V20 Pro 5G comes with a triple camera setup at the rear which sports a 64MP primary sensor paired with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP monochrome sensor. On the other hand, OnePlus Nord 5G comes with a quad-camera setup at the rear where the primary sensor is a 48MP sensor paired with an 8MP ultra-wide angle sensor, 2MP macro sensor, and a 5MP depth sensor. At the front, there is a 4MP primary sensor on the Vivo V20 Pro 5G paired with an 8MP ultra-wide angle secondary sensor. Whereas on the Nord 5G, there is a 32MP primary sensor at the front and an 8MP secondary sensor. Vivo V20 Pro 5G vs OnePlus Nord 5G: BatteryThe Vivo V20 Pro 5G comes with a 4,000mAh battery with support for 33W FlashCharge technology. The OnePlus Nord 5G almost has a similar-sized battery, but it is a little larger of 4,115mAh. It supports Warp Charge 30T for faster charging. Both the devices come with a power-saving mode which elongates the battery life of the smartphones. Vivo V20 Pro 5G vs OnePlus Nord 5G: Price and VerdictThe Vivo V20 Pro 5G has been launched in a single variant in the Indian market. That variant is 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage which is priced Rs 29,990. It is available in two different colours, namely Midnight Jazz and Sunset Melody. Whereas the OnePlus Nord 5G is available in three different variants. The first variant is 6GB+64GB which was launched for Rs 24,999 followed by the second variant, which is 8GB+128GB which was priced Rs 27,999. Lastly, the third variant of the device comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. It is priced at Rs 29,999. So which one is better? If you compare the Rs 30,000 variants of both the devices, you can see the stark difference which is there in the internal storage and the RAM between both the devices. In addition to this, OxygenOS 11 is based on Android 11, whereas the FuntouchOS 11 is based on Android 10. In camera specifications, on paper, the Vivo V20 Pro 5G is ahead of the OnePlus Nord 5G. But the actual review of how the camera software works in the V20 Pro 5G is yet to come, so there is no saying at the moment on which one is better. Then in terms of hardware, both the devices come with the same chipset and are somewhat similar to each other. But overall, if there is one device that I could pick right now, it would be the OnePlus Nord 5G. This is because of the software differences and the quick updates that OnePlus rolls out for its devices. Snapdragon 888 5G chipset was recently made official by Qualcomm. It will power the flagship devices which will launch in 2021. Smartphone manufacturers such as Oppo and Xiaomi have already confirmed the chipset to be sporting their devices. The Snapdragon 888 will be the next generation 5G chipset. Qualcomm believes that demand for the premium smartphones will not go down anytime soon, thus the Snapdragon 888 should see a good response from the market. Today we are going to be listing all the major details of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. Keep reading ahead to find out. Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, 6th AI Engine, Better Cameras, and MoreFirst of all, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 dons an integrated 5G modem. | BSNL Rs 1,499 Annual Prepaid Plan Comes With 24GB Data and 250 Minutes per Day Posted: 02 Dec 2020 09:38 PM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/bsnl-rs1499-prepaid-plan-validity/314633/, BSNL Rs 1,499 Annual Prepaid Plan Comes With 24GB Data and 250 Minutes per Day
BSNL introduced the Rs 1,499 annual prepaid plan a few months ago across several circles in the country. The Rs 1,499 prepaid offering from BSNL takes on the similarly priced prepaid plans from the private telecom operators. For example, both Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel are currently offering a Rs 1,499 with 365 days validity. So the BSNL's Rs 1,499 plan is here to challenge the same. When BSNL launched the plan in August this year, it offered benefits for 395 days as part of a promotional offer. However, the promotional offer is no longer valid and the validity of the plan is reduced to 365 days. The Rs 1,499 prepaid plan from BSNL offers 24GB data and unlimited voice calling benefit. BSNL Rs 1,499 Prepaid Plan: Validity ReducedBSNL has two annual plans on offer right now priced at Rs 1,499 and Rs 1,999. As mentioned above, the Rs 1,499 prepaid plan used to come with 395 days validity, but it has now been reduced to 365 days. Still, it is a very decent plan, but BSNL is always known for offering better prepaid plans than private telcos and that’s not the case with this annual plan. The plan comes with unlimited voice calling benefit which is capped at 250 minutes per day (on-net and off-net). After 250 minutes, calls will be charged at base plan tariff. It also comes with 24GB data benefit and there’s 100 SMSes per day benefit as well. Existing BSNL can get this plan from the website of BSNL or can text 'PLAN BSNL1499' to 123 from their registered BSNL number. The plan is also available for recharge via third-party portals like Paytm and PhonePe. Apart from the Rs 1,499 prepaid plan, BSNL also has the Rs 1,999 annual recharge which comes with 3GB data per day, 365 days validity, 100 SMSes per day and unlimited voice calling capped at 250 minutes per day. The Rs 1,999 recharge also has Eros Now benefit under its belt. The Rs 1,499 does not offer Eros Now benefit though. Airtel has a Rs 1,498 prepaid plan and Vi has a Rs 1,499 prepaid plan which ship with the same benefits of 24GB data, truly unlimited voice calling and 3600 SMSes for the entire 365 days period. BSNL unveiled three new postpaid plans on December 1 and the most interesting offering on the list is priced at Rs 798. This plan has been introduced by BSNL to take on the Rs 799 JioPostpaid Plan. BSNL is going after Reliance Jio in every segment- be it prepaid, broadband and postpaid, the state-run company is aggressively looking to undercut the Mukesh Ambani-owned telco. BSNL is currently standing at fourth place in the list of operators with the most number of subscribers, however, it isn’t backing off from competing with the top three telcos- Jio, Airtel and Vodafone Idea. The Rs 799 postpaid plan from Jio offers data rollover facility, family add-on connections, but there are some shortcomings with this plan, especially when compared to the JioPostpaid Plus plan of Rs 799. Continue reading to know more about both the plans in detail. BSNL Rs 798 vs Jio Rs 799 Postpaid Plans ComparedStarting with the JioPostpaid Plus plan of Rs 799, it offers a customer unlimited voice calling to any network, 150GB data benefit with rollover facility up to 200GB and 100 SMSes per day for one rental. The plan offers two additional family connections with unlimited voice calling and SMS benefits. Additional benefits include free Netflix Mobile subscription, free Amazon Prime membership and Disney+ Hotstar VIP membership as well. The telco will also provide free access to its mobile apps. For new customers, Rs 99 JioPrime charges will be applicable on top. Moving on, we have the BSNL Rs 798 postpaid plan which also offers identical benefits as Jio’s Rs 799 Postpaid Plus plan. The government-owned PSU is providing 50GB of data with rollover up to 150GB, unlimited voice calling to any network within India and 100 SMSes per day. Additionally, the telco has two family add-on connections with the same benefits as the primary connection. Sadly, BSNL is not bundling any OTT subscriptions with its postpaid plan. As you can see, both the telcos are providing similar data, calling, add-on and SMS benefits. But Jio beats BSNL comfortably in the entertainment section. Not only the telco is offering third-party OTT subscriptions, but it is also bundling the in-house apps like JioTV, JioCinema, etc. for free. On top of that, BSNL’s network is still stuck in 3G, whereas Jio is still the single LTE-only operator in India. Which one will you choose between the two plans? Let us know in the comments below.
