vodafone-idea-5g-use-cases-partnerships-imc

Managing Director of Vodafone Idea (Vi), Ravinder Takkar at the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC), 2020, said that the telco lost multiple opportunities of 5G use cases and new partnerships just because of the existing tariffs and the price that government is charging on the spectrum. Adding to the price on the spectrum, its availability is also a major problem. Takkar highlighted that Vi has invested around $30 billion in India and is still focused on its aim of making the country completely digital as soon as possible — more on the story ahead.

Vodafone Idea Invested $30 Billion in India, Still a Going-Concern Business

As per an ET Telecom report, Takkar highlighted two important opportunities that the telecom operators need to focus on. The first one is catalysing India specific 5G use cases along with creating new partnership models and innovative platforms. The aim for these developments will be to impact the different verticals of the society such as education, healthcare, and smart cities amongst more positively.

The second thing that Takkar asked the operators to put their focus on is expanding the connectivity services to the people at the bottom of the society or living in backwards or rural areas of the country. He highlighted that the tele-density in rural parts of India is only 59% whereas, in the urban parts, it is a whopping 134%. Approximately 450 million mobile subscribers today don't have connectivity with a broadband network or don't own a smartphone in the first place.

Takkar also said that Vi has a ready 5G network architecture and the telco will make good use of it to make cities, machines, and citizens of the country smarter than ever. It is worth noting that the telco is closing in on its Rs 25,000 crore fundraise.

The only problems which Takkar highlighted during the IMC 2020 were current tariffs, spectrum availability and pricing, taxes, and levies. Vi has earlier said that it won't shy away from being the first player in the market to increase the tariffs.

Local 5G Standards Existential Threat, Will Lock India Out of Global Ecosystem: Gopal Vittal

local-5g-standards-threat-India-gopal-vittal

Gopal Vittal, CEO of Bharti Airtel South Asia on Tuesday said that India needs to adopt 5G standards which are accepted globally. Going for 5G standards sourced locally is only going to result in India being locked out of the global ecosystem of technology. It is not the first time he has expressed this thought. Earlier as well, Vittal has expressed that Jio backing the 5G standards set by the Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India (TSDSI) is going to slow down the pace of innovation in India because of multiple reasons — more on the story ahead.

Adoption of Global 5G Standards Necessary for Indian Telecom Industry

As per a report from ET Telecom, Vittal compared the current gap in the outlook towards the local and global 5G standards with the CDMA and GSM debate. He pointed out that GSM won because it is accepted more widely against CDMA, even though the latter is technologically superior.

Global Mobile Supplier Association (GSA) had earlier reached out to the telecom regulatory and communicated its concerns about the 5G standards set by TSDSI. It said that the local 5G standards would create interoperability problems between the networks and the devices.

GSA said that if the local 5G standards were adopted, the cost of 5G devices would go up along with the cost of 5G services. But the claim was denied by Bhaskar Ramamurthi, the chairman of TSDSI.

Vittal has urged the telecom industry of India to come together for building the new ecosystem of telecommunications in India. He said that for India to build 5G together, all the differences between the key players and other parties need to be set aside. It would benefit everyone in the market.

Vittal also said that new and better policies need to be rolled out by the regulators and the government to keep access to the technology affordable. He further said that fibre lay down cost must be affordable because it is a major element in keeping India connected. Lastly, he expressed that spectrum cost must be lowered as well so that new networks in India can be built faster.

5G in India, Sunil Mittal at IMC, Sunil Bharti Mittal, Mittal, Founder of Bharti Airtel, India 5G, Space Communications Industry, Space Communications in India, 5G

Sunil Bharti Mittal, Founder of Bharti Airtel recently addressed the nation in the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) and said that India would be 5G ready in the next two to three years. This is because at the moment, in the Indian landscape, pricing of the spectrum and the equipment of 5G is too high and unfeasible for the industry. But he said that the pricing of the equipment would soon come down and it would help India become a 5G nation in the next two to three years — More details on the story ahead.

Mittal Says India to be 5G Read in Next 2 to 3 Years

Sunil Mittal, in his speech, said that India is well-positioned to benefit on the 5G front with all the global investments it has got in the past few months. But for this to happen, the prices of the equipment need to lower.

Adding to this, he further expressed that the availability of the devices will also place a major role in the rollout of 5G in India. A very short percentage of Indian consumers hold a 5G compatible device at the moment. This number needs to increase so that a successful 5G rollout can be ensured in India.

Mittal further said that India is well-posed in the space communications industry as well. He termed the space as the 'next frontier of communication'. Mittal expressed that India with all of its advancements in technology in the space industry and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will ensure that advantages move in India's favour when it comes to the space communication.

The global pandemic has forced India towards the digitising the economy, said Mittal. He believes that within 2 to 3 years, 5G would become the standard norm in the mobile broadband space of India.

"India has moved from a landline-centric nation to a digitally-enabled mobile broadband centric company", said Mittal in his speech at the IMC, 2020. He also expressed a lot of excitement about Bharti Airtel stepping into the space communications industry.

Mukesh Ambani Calls Out for Removal of 2G and Says Jio Will Pioneer the 5G Revolution in India

ambani-removal-of-2G-5G-in-India

Mr Mukesh Ambani recently addressed the nation at the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) and expressed four important points that India needs to focus on. He said that in 2020, while everyone worked from home, learned and taught from home, India thrived online. Ambani also stressed on the fact that India will become a $5 trillion economy very soon and prove the cynics wrong. He focused his attention on four points during his speech which started with the call out to remove 2G from India — more details ahead.

No More 2G, Early and Affordable Rollout of 5G in India and More

Ambani's first point stressed on the fact that as many as 300 million Indians are still using the 2G network. He said that urgent policy steps are required to rectify this so underprivileged Indians can also get an affordable 4G smartphone. This will also help them with the Direct Benefit Transfer and be able to participate in the Digital Economy of India.

The second point that Ambani focused on was the policy requirements for an early and affordable rollout of 5G in the county. He said with assurance that Jio would pioneer the 5G revolution in India during the second half of 2021. Ambani also said that Jio's 5G services would be a testimony to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The third point that Ambani made was that he is confident about India leading the 4th Industrial Revolution. Jio Platforms, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited through the help of its 20 start-up partners has developed multiple world-class technologies together such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, Cloud Computing, and more. Jio is focused on creating homegrown solutions for several sectors of the Indian economy.

The last and the fourth point made by Ambani at the IMC was that he believes India will become one of the major hubs for the state-of-the-art semiconductor industry. Multiple global companies are now setting up production plants in the country; this would enable India to rely less on the large scale imports in the technology area.

The launch is set for December 16, but the company did not reveal any information regarding the models it is going to launch under the new QLED TV series. We are expecting the brand to bring Mi TV 5 Pro series in different screen sizes ranging from 55-inch to 75-inch. Vi Rs 149 and Rs 148 Prepaid Recharges Offer Up to 18GB Data and 28 Days Validity

Posted: 07 Dec 2020 05:32 PM PST

This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/vi-rs149-rs148-prepaid-recharges/315532/, Vi Rs 149 and Rs 148 Prepaid Recharges Offer Up to 18GB Data and 28 Days Validity

We all know that Vodafone Idea has the most number of prepaid plans among private telecom operators. Alongside offering a slew of offers like double data benefit, weekend data rollover and extra data on app/website, the telco also has some impressive prepaid plans under its portfolio. After the tariff hike in December 2019, not many telecom operators are providing decent prepaid plans under Rs 200, except for BSNL. Vodafone Idea is trying to change that with prepaid plans like Rs 129, Rs 148, Rs 149 and Rs 199. The Rs 148 and Rs 149 prepaid plans, in particular, are very good for the asking price. The telco is providing them with up to 28 days validity and 1GB data per day, something that may attract the customers.

Vi Rs 149 Prepaid Recharge: What It Offers?

Starting with the Rs 149 prepaid recharge, it was introduced last year with 28 days validity. However, as part of its ‘app/web exclusive offer,’ the telco is offering 3GB data benefit instead of the regular 2GB data benefit. Apart from the data benefit, users will also get unlimited voice calling to any network within India and 300 SMSes, valid for the same 28 days. There’s no FUP limit on voice calls and Vi is also bundling Vi Movies & TV app subscription at no extra cost.

Vi Rs 148 Prepaid Recharge: What It Offers?

While the Rs 149 prepaid plan is aimed at the users who are looking for a plan with 28 days validity on budget, the Rs 148 recharge is aimed at the users who are looking for more data benefit. The pack offers 1GB data per day, unlimited voice calling and 100 SMSes per day for 18 days. At Rs 148, users are getting 18GB of data which is a good thing, but the validity is on the lower side at 18 days.

The Rs 149 recharge is an open market one across all the 22 telecom circles, whereas the Rs 148 plan is available only in select markets.

If customers want an even lower priced prepaid plan, there’s the Rs 129 recharge that comes with 24 days validity, 2GB of data, unlimited voice calling and 300 SMSes. And if they want a slightly better prepaid plan, Vi also has a Rs 199 recharge which is an upgraded version of Rs 148 pack with 24 days validity, 24GB data, unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS per day.
