| Bharti Airtel Says Unlimited Calling Benefit Will Remain the Same for Customers Posted: 01 Jan 2021 07:22 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/airtel-unlimited-calling-benefits-iuc/322384/, Bharti Airtel Says Unlimited Calling Benefit Will Remain the Same for Customers
Bharti Airtel confirms that its customers will continue enjoying unlimited voice calls without any IUC. The statement from Airtel comes right after Reliance Jio removing the charges on off-net voice calls. First, it was Vodafone Idea which took a jab at Reliance Jio saying it never charged for off-net minutes and will never charge. Now, it is Bharti Airtel which also says ‘it never charged the customers separately for IUC.’ For the uninitiated, Reliance Jio introduced IUC packs and restricted customers from making unlimited voice calls to non-Jio numbers. All the Jio unlimited combo prepaid plans had a FUP limit of at least 1,000 minutes. With the zero IUC regime becoming effective starting today, Jio has removed the restriction/charges on off-net calls. Bharti Airtel Obsessed With Delivering Best-in-Class ExperienceIn a press statement, Bharti Airtel COO, Ajai Puri, said the telco is obsessed with delivering the best-in-class experience to the customers. He further added that Airtel mobile customers are already enjoying unlimited free calls to all networks with the prepaid bundles and also the postpaid plans. As for the matter of fact, Ajai reminds that Airtel never charged its customers separately for IUC taking a jab at Reliance Jio. He reaffirmed that the unlimited calling benefits would not have any changes even with the zero IUC regime. When Jio started charging IUC back in October 2019, both Airtel and Vodafone Idea also joined the train. However, the incumbents revoked the move just a couple of days later which turned out to be a huge blow for the Mukesh Ambani-led telco. Since Reliance Jio operates on an all-IP network, it urged Trai to implement the zero IUC regime at the earliest. Telcos Airtel and Vi were against the move and Trai favoured them to push back the zero IUC implementation to January 2021. Reliance Jio is at the receiving end at the moment, but the telco has the upper hand in the tariff plans department. Jio’s prepaid plans after the removal of the FUP limit on non-Jio calls are probably the best ones in the industry. Even the Jio Postpaid Plus plans offer a slew of benefits like Netflix Mobile subscription and more data at lower prices. Also, the removal of IUC will likely help Jio is adding more subscribers starting January 2021. We will have to wait a couple of months to know the impact of IUC removal on subscriber additions. |

Reliance Jio Users Facing Issues with Mobile Number Portability RequestsHowever, multiple users on Twitter said that the operator has stopped "responding to port requests" with select users also highlighting that the issue has been consistent for over three days. "I am unable to port my jio number to airtel," Gurpreet Kaur, a Reliance Jio user, said in a tweet. "TRAI, Please look into the issue as I am facing this problem from past 3 days."
Multiple Reliance Jio users have also tweeted photos and videos that highlight the port messages "not delivered" or the user not receiving response from the operator. Kisan Ekta March, a Twitter handle dedicated to delivering updates on farmer protests said that the port out requests "blocked" by Jio are a "breach" of regulations set by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). RTI Application Filed Against Reliance JioAs of press time on Friday, the operator has not responded to TelecomTalk's request for additional information on the issue. Meanwhile, author Amaan Bali on Twitter said that his team has "filed" an Right to Information (RTI) application "seeking answers" from Reliance Jio. In his tweet, Bali said that the RTI application includes questions on why Jio users are unable to send the message to port along with the "details of the technical glitch if cited." While it's not clear as to whether Reliance Jio has deliberately blocked the number portability requests, it has to be noted that Aircel users in the past has had issues in getting their numbers ported. In March 2018, it was reported that around three lakh Aircel users had sent requests to port out their Aircel number with the operator facing issues in responding to user requests. K Sankara Narayanan, Aircel representative had told BusinessLine that the operator's infrastructure "could not handle such a large number of requests to port out." Further, the representative had highlighted that the operator will "take some time to fulfill all the requests." |

Telecom operators in India offer various daily fair-usage-policy (FUP) data plans to the users. One of the less famous categories of prepaid plans is ‘1GB daily data‘. This is because a majority of users prefer going with at least 1.5GB daily data plans. However, if you are someone who is looking for a 1GB daily data plan, keep reading ahead. Today, we are listing all the prepaid plans which offer 1GB daily data to the users in 2021. Telcos such as Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea (Vi) offer 1GB daily data plans to the users, let’s check them out. Bharti Airtel 1GB Daily Data PlanBharti Airtel offers a single prepaid plan under this category. This plan comes for Rs 199 and offers 1GB daily data to the users with unlimited calling and 100 SMS/day. It carries a validity of 24 days and includes additional benefits such as free Hellotunes, Wynk Music subscription, and Airtel Xstream Premium for one year. Post consuming FUP data, the speed for the user drops to 64 Kbps. Reliance Jio 1GB Daily Data PlanReliance Jio also offers a single prepaid plan with 1GB daily data benefit. The Rs 149 plan offers 1GB daily data to the users. The great thing is there is no FUP minutes limit for making Jio to non-Jio calls. The telco has made voice calling truly unlimited for the users. There is also 100 SMS/day and a complimentary subscription of all the Jio apps. This plans also has the same validity of 24 days as of Airtel's Rs 199 plan. Vodafone Idea 1GB Daily Data PlanVodafone Idea (Vi) offers its 1GB daily data plan for Rs 219. ComparisonIn terms of money, the Reliance Jio 1GB daily data plan is the cheapest amongst the lot. The voice calling, SMS, and data benefits are all the same with either of these plans. However, the Vodafone Idea 1GB daily data plan has the longest validity of 28 days. While the 1GB daily data plan from Jio and Airtel comes with a shorter validity of 24 days. At the same time, it is worth noting that the 1GB daily data offering from Vodafone Idea is the most expensive compared to Jio and Airtel. |
| Reliance Jio Removes FUP Limit on Off-Net Calls and Instantly Becomes the Best Prepaid Operator Posted: 31 Dec 2020 05:42 PM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/jio-fup-limit-off-net-calling-removal/322284/, Reliance Jio Removes FUP Limit on Off-Net Calls and Instantly Becomes the Best Prepaid Operator
As Trai implements the zero Interconnect Usage Charges (IUC) regime, Reliance Jio removed the six paise per-minute charges on off-net calls. Since October 2019, Reliance Jio has been charging its user six paise for every one minute of voice calls made to other networks. And a majority of its unlimited combo prepaid plans had a FUP limit for non-Jio calls. For example, Jio’s prepaid plans with 28 days validity offered 1,000 minutes of non-Jio calls, whereas the plans with 84 days validity offered 3,000 minutes of non-Jio calling for the entire validity period. As soon as Jio removed the IUC charges, it again became the best telecom operator with prepaid plans in the industry. And yes, Jio also has the best postpaid plans in India right now, so there’s that too. Reliance Jio Prepaid Plans: Where Do They Stand Now?Over the last one year, Jio users complained regarding the FUP limit on the non-Jio/off-net voice calls. Reliance Jio has some prepaid plans listed in the ‘Others’ section such as Rs 129, Rs 329 and Rs 1,299. These three plans are aimed at the users who want a long validity prepaid plans on a budget. Jio’s Rs 129 prepaid recharge now comes with unlimited voice calling to any network without any FUP limit, 2GB of 4G data and 300 SMSes valid for 28 days. The same plan is being offered by Airtel and Vodafone Idea at Rs 149. On the other hand, the Rs 329 prepaid plan now comes with 6GB of 4G data, unlimited voice calling and 1000 SMSes valid for 84 days from the date of recharge. Lastly, we have the Rs 1,299 prepaid recharge with 336 days validity, 24GB data, unlimited voice calling and 3600 SMSes. Airtel and Vi provide Rs 379 recharge, which is similar to the Rs 329 prepaid plan of Jio. As you can see, Jio’s prepaid plans are cheaper than those of Airtel and Vodafone Idea. Even with the unlimited combo plans, Jio has the upper hand. The 1.5GB data per day plan for 28 days from Jio costs Rs 199, and the same from Airtel and Vi are priced at Rs 249. Similarly, the Rs 598 plan from Bharti Airtel offers 1.5GB data per day for 84 days and Jio is offering the same plan for 84 days. Since 2016, Reliance Jio was the best-prepaid operator, but that has changed after introducing FUP limit on off-net calls last year. Now, Jio is back into the game and it will be interesting to see how Jio performs in January 2021 in terms of subscriber additions. |
