| Delhi High Court’s Simple Approach Towards WhatsApp New Policy Case Posted: 18 Jan 2021 03:00 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/delhi-high-courts-whatsapp-new-terms-conditions/326721/, Delhi High Court's Simple Approach Towards WhatsApp New Policy Case
The Delhi High Court (HC) has a straightforward view on the new policies of WhatsApp. A petition was filed at the HC for issuing notices to both Facebook and WhatsApp. The petition was against the recent changes brought to the terms and conditions of WhatsApp's usage by Facebook. However, the Delhi HC didn't issue any notice to the concerned companies. HC said it will carry a detailed hearing on the matter on January 25, 2021, for now, it has refused to issue a notice to WhatsApp and Facebook — more details on the story ahead. HC Says Don't Use the App if You Don't Like New PoliciesIn the hearing, Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva said that if users don't like the new terms and conditions of WhatsApp, they can stop using it. Since WhatsApp is a private app, the users have the option to delete it if they don't want their data to be shared with Facebook. For the unaware, as per the recent changes brought to the terms and conditions of the WhatsApp's usage; a plethora of user's data from WhatsApp would be shared with Facebook to help the parent company improve ad experience for the consumer across its suite of products. Justice Sachdeva said that if people are not conformable sharing that data with Facebook, they can stop using the application. The HC observed that it is not just WhatsApp and Facebook, but several other apps that do the same thing with user's data. The court pointed out that even Google Maps captures all the user's data and stores it. Mukul Rohatgi and Kapil Sibal representing WhatsApp said that the petition filed is without merits. They further said that the recent policy changes are related to Business Chats and the personal chats won't be affected in any manner. The plea filed by the petitioner says that WhatsApp is looking to collect complete online activity of users without any supervision of government on it. The lawyer representing the petitioner at the court said that users in the European Union are given an option to continue using the app without accepting the new policies; however, it is not the same for India. While the HC has denied issuing notices to Facebook and WhatsApp, it said that it will hear the matter in more detail on January 25, 2021. Meanwhile, WhatsApp has extended the time for users to accept the new policy. The last date, previously February 8, 2021, has been extended to May 15, 2021. If not accepted until that date, users won't be able to use the app further. |

| BSNL Offering 10% Discount to all Government Employees, Check Details Posted: 18 Jan 2021 12:43 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/bsnl-offering-discount-to-all-government-employees/326697/, BSNL Offering 10% Discount to all Government Employees, Check Details
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is offering a 10% discount to all the government employees in the country. This information can be confirmed via a tweet from 'BSNL_Kolkata'. The 10% discount would be applicable on select services of the state-run telecom operator. This is a good move by BSNL since it would not only motivate people to purchase its services but also help the telco come out of its grave financial situation. This 10% discount would be applicable on the landline, broadband, and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) services of the telco — more details on the story ahead. BSNL 10% Discount Applicable for Government Employees Post February 1, 2021The state-run telco would give a 10% discount to all the government employees from February 1, 2021. As mentioned above, this 10% discount would only be applicable on purchase of services such as landline, broadband, and FTTH connection from the company. It is worthy to note that BSNL already gave a 5% discount on bills to the government employees for the said services. But now, the discount has been increased to 10%. The 10% discount is applicable on bills for both employees who are currently serving and have retired. The change will come into effect from February 1, 2021. The other things in the terms and conditions of the promotional offer remain the same as to what they were when the discount was 5%. This would promote BSNL's landline, broadband, and FTTH services throughout the country. Last year, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had asked every government department to mandatorily utilise the services of BSNL and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) for any broadband, landline, or leased line requirements. This meant that the public departments couldn't purchase services from any other telecom operator than BSNL and MTNL. It was a much-needed relief for the cash-strapped telcos. On this note, it is worth noting that BSNL is increasing its flexibility in providing services to users. It recently announced an over-the-top (OTT) add-on pack for its broadband and Bharat Fiber customers. The add-on pack will come into effect from January 18, 2021. It will bring users bundled subscriptions of multiple OTT platforms such as ZEE5 Premium, YuppTV Live (all NCF channels), YuppTV FDFS (first-day-first-show), SonyLIV Special, Voot Select, and YuppTV Movies. This will cost users Rs 129 per month for the first three months and then Rs 199 per month for the rest of the period a user wishes to purchase the add-on pack. This would be an independent cost and won’t be included in the bill for the broadband or FTTH connection of the users. |

For starters, the smartwatch rocks the same 1.39-inch AMOLED screen with the same 454×454 pixels resolution. While the GTR 2 has a 3D curved glass on the front, the GTR 2e has a 2.5D curved design. It also comes in different strap colours at launch- Obsidian Black, Matcha Green and Slate Grey. | Vodafone Idea Rs 449 Prepaid Mobile Phone Plan Offers 4GB Data for 56 Days Posted: 17 Jan 2021 05:49 PM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/vodafone-idea-rs449-prepaid-mobile-plan/326618/, Vodafone Idea Rs 449 Prepaid Mobile Phone Plan Offers 4GB Data for 56 Days
Vodafone Idea Limited or Vi currently has more offers in place than any other operator. For example, Vodafone Idea has been providing a ‘Double Data‘ offer for several months now, whereas other telcos do not have any such offer in place. Currently, Vi is running the Double Data offer on three prepaid plans priced at Rs 699, Rs 449 and Rs 299. For the unaware, these three prepaid plans from Vi offer 2GB data per day. However, as part of this Double Data offer, users get 4GB data per day benefit. Last week, we reported that the Rs 699 offers 1GB of data at just Rs 2.08- one of the lowest per GB in the industry at the moment. The Rs 449 prepaid mobile phone plan from Vi also offers 4GB data per day, but the validity is on the lower side at 56 days. Vi Prepaid Mobile Phone of Rs 449 Offers 1GB of Data at Just Rs 1.5Talking about the benefits offered by Rs 449 prepaid mobile phone in detail, it generally comes with just 2GB data per day for 56 days. As part of the limited period offer, Vodafone Idea is providing 4GB (2GB+2GB) data per day for the same validity of 56 days. Additionally, this plan is also part of Vi’s ‘Weekend Rollover’ scheme, meaning the unused data from Monday-Friday can be consumed on Saturday & Sunday. This is applicable for every week during the validity period of 56 days. As you can see, the Rs 449 Vi prepaid mobile phone offers a total of 224GB data for 56 days. So the per GB price comes down to just Rs 1.5 that is lower than the Rs 699 prepaid mobile plan. Besides the 4GB daily data benefit, the Rs 449 prepaid plan also ships with unlimited voice calling to any network within India and 100 SMSes per day. And yes, the voice calling benefit on Vi network is unlimited without any FUP limit. Lastly, users also get free access to Vi Movies & TV app and the subscription included is ‘Basic.’ Bharti Airtel also has a similarly priced Rs 449 prepaid mobile phone plan that also offers the same 2GB data per day benefit for 56 days. However, Vi has the upper hand because of the Double Data offer in place right now. While Vi offers double data when compared to Bharti Airtel, the latter hits back with free Prime Video Mobile Edition trial for 30 days. Besides, Airtel users also get free access to Airtel Xstream app that has more than 350 Live TV channels. |
