Oppo has officially launched the Oppo A55 5G as its affordable 5G smartphone in China. Majority of smartphone brands in China are launching 5G-only phones and the Oppo A55 5G is no exception. The phone makes use of the MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset. It is a mid-range smartphone with HD+ display, 5000mAh battery and a 13MP triple camera setup. Oppo Mobile India is yet to talk about the Oppo A55 5G. Last week, Oppo launched the first phone in India with Dimensity 1000+ chipset, so there are chances of Oppo A55 5G also launching in the country. The A55 5G is the brand’s first phone with Dimensity 700 chipset. MediaTek is also said to be launching Dimensity 800 5G SoC at the MWC 2021. Rumours also point an upcoming Dimensity 700 SoC-powered Realme phone will be the cheapest 5G phone in China. Oppo A55 5G: Specifications and FeaturesThe Oppo A55 5G flaunts a 6.5-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 720×1600 pixels and a teardrop notch on top. Since it is an LCD panel, Oppo has added a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The handset does not have a high refresh rate screen, sadly, but the screen-to-body ratio is on the respectable side at 88.7%. The Oppo A55 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G chipset which is said to be built on 10nm process. The phone is available in 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage configuration. Oppo also included a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 1TB. The smartphone measures 63.9×75.7×8.4mm and weighs in at 186 grams. This Android 11 laden smartphone rocks a triple camera setup on the back. A 13MP primary sensor works in tandem with a 2MP macro sensor and a 2MP portrait camera. There’s an 8MP selfie snapper on the front. Oppo says the A55 5G also has support for 10X digital zoom which is unique in its price range. Connectivity options on the smartphone include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS and a USB Type-C port. It is backed by a 5000mAh battery and the company did not mention any presence of fast charging. Oppo A55 5G: Pricing and Expected India LaunchThe Oppo A55 5G is available in only one configuration- 6GB+128GB at CNY 1,599 (approx. Rs 18,050). | FAU-G Opens Pre-registrations for Smartphones Running Android Oreo and Above Posted: 25 Jan 2021 06:52 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/fau-g-android-oreo-pre-register/328703/, FAU-G Opens Pre-registrations for Smartphones Running Android Oreo and Above
FAU-G: Fearless and United Guards will be officially released on Google Play Store tomorrow on 72nd Republic Day of India. FAU-G pre-registrations were open on the Android app store since November 30. On the day of opening the pre-registrations, nCore Games faced a lot of criticism for not allowing the users with old Android smartphones to pre-register. Only the new mobiles with at least Android 10 were eligible for pre-registration until now. nCome Games has now opened the pre-registration for smartphones running Android Oreo and above. This includes Android Oreo 8.0, Oreo 8.1 and Android 9 Pie. It comes as a piece of good news for many users who are looking to try FAU-G, especially after the ban of PUBG Mobile in India. FAU-G will now support on smartphones launched back in 2018 as well. FAU-G India Launch Tomorrow: What to Expect?nCore Games is all set to launch FAU-G in India tomorrow as a tribute to the Indian soldiers present at the border protecting the nation. The first episode of FAU-G will be set at Line of Actual Control (LAC) Ladakh. The trailer of the game already confirmed that the Chinese troops would be entering our land and the Indian soldiers stop them. nCore Games says FAU-G is wholly developed in India and it is a truly ‘Made in India’ game. FAU-G was originally said to release by the end of October 2020, but the company delayed the launch this far. FAU-G will likely see massive downloads on the day of launch as there’s no news on PUBG Mobile India’s comeback. For those who want to pre-register the game can head to this link and tap on pre-register. Do make a note that your Android smartphone should be running at least Android 8.0. The company did not reveal any hardware limitations for now, but we are expecting FAU-G to target the flagship and mid-range smartphone segments. The game will not be available for Apple iOS and iPadOS users at the launch, which is disappointing. That said, the Indian smartphone market is completely dominated by Android brands, and if you have the latest smartphone, you will be up and ready for FAU-G on the launch day. Just make sure you pre-register for the game with a valid Google ID. Are you excited for FAU-G? Let us know in the comments below. |

Data vouchers have become very popular in the day and age of fair usage policy (FUP) data. Users have got unlimited data, but that's not truly unlimited. The maximum data a prepaid plan offers for a day is 4GB (multiple Vodafone Idea prepaid plans), and for some even that's not enough on certain occasions. To help out their users solve data shortage problems, telecom operators offer a different range of data vouchers. These data vouchers can offer from 1GB to 50GB or more data to the users. Today we are going to focus on all the cheapest 4G data vouchers from Airtel, Vodafone Idea (Vi), Reliance Jio, and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). AirtelAirtel offers its cheapest 4G data voucher for Rs 48. With this voucher, the user gets 3GB of data along with a validity of 28 days. There are no voice calling or any other kind of benefits included in the plan. Any of the unused data gets expired with the expiry of the voucher. Vodafone IdeaVi offers its cheapest 4G data voucher for Rs 16. This voucher offers users 1GB of data but is only valid until 24 hours. This is perfect for someone who needs to consume fewer amounts of data quickly. There are no other additional benefits included with this voucher, and any of the unused amounts of data will be expired on the expiry of the voucher. BSNLBSNL also offers its cheapest 4G voucher for Rs 16 just like Vi. But this voucher offers double data than the Vi voucher, i.e., 2GB. However, the validity is the same, which is 24 hours. This voucher is called 'Mini_16', and it does not include any other offers or benefits. All the unused data will be expired once the voucher expires. Reliance JioReliance Jio offers its cheapest 4G voucher for Rs 11. It is the cheapest amongst the 4, and it comes with 1GB of data. A unique thing about this voucher is that it doesn't come with a stand-alone validity. The validity of this voucher will be the same as of the user's primary unlimited data voucher. There are no other benefits included with this plan, and any of the unused data will be expired once the primary plan of the user expires. These are the cheapest vouchers you can get from the telcos in India. Which voucher seems like the best value for money? Do let us know in the comments section below. |

| Reliance Jio to Eye New Growth Engines Says Analysts Posted: 25 Jan 2021 01:30 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/reliance-jio-eye-new-growth-engines-analysts/328178/, Reliance Jio to Eye New Growth Engines Says Analysts
Reliance Jio "Aggressively" Rolling Out FTTH ProductsMotilal Oswal, a firm engaged in the financial services on Sunday said that revenue growth reported by Reliance Jio was largely led by a 4% increase in ARPU. The firm said that the net subscriber addition "slowed" to 5.2 million in the third quarter of the current financial year as compared to 7.3 million in the previous quarter. Motilal Oswal highlighted that the gross subscriber additions stood at 25.1 million in the third quarter as compared to the 27.3 million in the previous quarter. "The management attributed this to the continued impact of COVID-19 and local issues in certain geographies," Motilal Oswal said in a report on Sunday. The firm highlighted that Reliance Jio is "deepening its fiber network and aggressively" rolling out Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) products such as Jio Set-Top Box (STB), Jio enterprise solutions and Jio Internet of Things (IoT). "With a total of INR1.5t raised from global investors, Jio Platforms Ltd (RJio's holding company) is sitting on a war chest," Motilal Oswal said. "It is now building capabilities in new-age technologies, developing end-to-end 5G radio, and developing core network solutions." The firm said that the growth in Reliance Jio user base has "moderated to the mid-single digits from double-digit quarterly growth" in the previous year as the operator has over 400 million subscribers. Motilal Oswal said that among the 750 million to 800 million unique users in the telecom space, 50% may "yet be outside the ambit of smartphone usage." "To tap this low ARPU/device user share, RJio – along with Google – may launch a low-cost feature phone device that may prove pivotal to maintaining its subscriber growth momentum in India," Motilal Oswal said. "However, with low price points and limited success in the subsidy model, it would be a challenge to drive profitable growth through this segment." Analyst Says Time Right for Operators to Increase TariffsMeanwhile, Dolat Capital, a financial firm engaged in the trading markets on Saturday said that Reliance Jio's third quarter financial results were "ahead of estimates" due to the "higher than expected ARPU." "We remain perplexed with the ARPU improvement in Jio over the last two quarters (Rs 140.5 to Rs 151) in absence of tariff increases," Dolat Capital said in a report on Saturday. "As per company, it is on account of increased consumer engagement. In our view, it is partly on account of FTTH business revenue pick-up led by higher additions and charging of older customers after initial free-trial offer." Similar to Bharti Airtel, Dolat Capital said that Reliance Jio too is "well-poised" to gain from "improving industry scenario" such as rise in ARPU or shutdown of Vodafone Idea. "With all the three telcos chasing to grab the 4G customers as well as burning cash to maintain the high level of voice mins/data usage per subscriber; we believe the time is ripe for all the telcos to raise the tariff table and compete at higher price points," Dolat Capital said. "This is inevitable in our view." Further, IDBI Capital on Monday said in a report that Reliance Jio is set to "fly with many wings" despite the operator witnessing a slow down in subscriber growth. "Though, [the] pace of net subscriber addition has slowed down but still it has many levers to grow, mainly a tariff hikes in [the] near term," IDBI Capital said in a report on Monday. "Also, faster ramp-up of an attractive FTTH, integrated solutions for Enterprises and IoT solution for Home are few other levers which would continue to drive Jio profits." |

| BSNL and MTNL Merger Won’t be Beneficial or Feasible Posted: 24 Jan 2021 11:25 PM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/bsnl-and-mtnl-merger-wont-be-beneficial/328152/, BSNL and MTNL Merger Won't be Beneficial or Feasible
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) might not merge anytime soon. In a recent meeting, a six-member Group of Ministers (GoM) had met and concluded that the merger of BSNL and MTNL isn't the right way to go. It wouldn't be beneficial for any party. As per a Business Standard report, a final call on the matter is yet to be taken by the Union Cabinet. It is worth noting that the government runs both the telcos, and neither of them has a positive cash-flow — more details on the story ahead. BSNL and MTNL Merger Won't Revive the TelcosThe Union Cabinet on October 2019 had revealed a four-step revival plan for the telcos amounting to Rs 68,751 crore. This revival plan included the merger of both the telcos and the mention of voluntary retirement scheme (VRS), assets monetisation, and allocation of 4G airwaves in the next two years. However, the possibility of this happening now seems a little weak. The six-member GoM expressed that the merger won't be benefitting anyone or even feasible. What's worth noting is that BSNL has already started operating MTNL's mobile network in the Mumbai and Delhi circles. It started operating MTNL's mobile network from January 1, 2021, by acting as an outsourced agency. BSNL can even offer mobile services in the Mumbai and Delhi circles as the department granted the telco a unified license on December 16, 2020. Thus, the telco is expected to provide 4G services in the Delhi and Mumbai circles soon. Route for Recovery? Both the state-run telcos will have to upgrade to offering seamless 4G services across the circles they operate in. BSNL would have to keep in mind that 5G is around the corner as well. Thus the telco should look for building an infrastructure of networks which would allow it to shift to 5G as smoothly as possible. Along with that, BSNL will also have to enhance its broadband offerings. The Bharat Fiber plans are not bad, but they fall behind the plans from JioFiber and Airtel Xstream Fiber in terms of benefits. This is simply because BSNL does not offer any over-the-top (OTT) benefits with its plans. However, the state-run telco is covering ground as fast as possible. Its 4G tenders are out and recently; the telco started offering unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS/day benefit with all of its prepaid plans matching the offerings of other private telcos. |
| Android 11-based MIUI 12.1 Update Starts Rolling Out to Poco X2 Users in India Posted: 24 Jan 2021 09:38 PM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/poco-x2-android-11-update-india/328112/, Android 11-based MIUI 12.1 Update Starts Rolling Out to Poco X2 Users in India
Poco X2 users in India are noting the Android 11 update arrival on their smartphone. Earlier this month, Poco India Country Manager, Anuj Sharma said the company will be releasing Android 11 update to Poco X2, Poco X3 and the Poco M2 Pro smartphones. Sticking to the promise, the Xiaomi spin-off is rolling out the Android 11-based MIUI 12.1 update to the Poco X2. In early 2020, Poco made a comeback to the market with Poco X2. Back then, the phone ran Android 10-based MIUI 11. In August 2020, Poco started pushing MIUI 12 update to the Poco X2, but it was based on Android 10 itself. Now, the popular mid-range smartphone is tasting the latest flavour of Android from Google. Poco X2 Android 11 Update Changelog DetailedSince Poco already seeded the MIUI 12 update to Poco X2, users won’t notice any major visual changes. The latest update comes with build number- MIUI 12.1.2.0.RGHINXM. The update size varies with every user. For some, it might be around 2.4GB in size, and for some, it comes at just over 700MB. The MIUI 12.1 update brings January 2021 security patches and Android 11 to the smartphone. As always, the update is being seeded in batches, so not every Poco X2 user will get it today. Users who have updated their Poco X2 to MIUI 12.1 are complaining of slow app opening animations, issues with dual apps and some users are facing issues with new application installations via Google Play Store. Poco India is yet to acknowledge these issues, but we are expecting these issues to be user-specific ones. Launched almost a year ago, the Poco X2 scripted the company’s comeback history. The handset brought it in several firsts to the sub Rs 20,000 segment such as 120Hz refresh rate screen, Snapdragon 730G SoC and 27W fast charging. The Poco X2 was recently succeeded by the Poco X3 which is also a great smartphone to purchase around Rs 15,000 price tag. Besides the Poco X2, the company also confirmed that other phones like Poco X3, Poco M2 Pro, Poco M2 and Poco M3 would get Android 11 update in the coming days. Except for the Poco F1, all the Poco smartphones will be upgraded to Android 11- an excellent promise from the company. The Poco F1 was launched way back in 2018 and it received Android 10 update last year. In other news, Poco recently said it sold one million units of Poco C3 in India. Despite the handset being a rebranded version of Redmi 9C, the Poco C3 managed to grab all the eyeballs under Rs 10,000. |
| Realme C20 Officially Launched: Similar Specs as Realme C15 and Downgraded Cameras Posted: 24 Jan 2021 08:00 PM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/realme-c20-official-price-specs/328089/, Realme C20 Officially Launched: Similar Specs as Realme C15 and Downgraded Cameras
Realme C20 has been launched as the successor to Realme C12 and Realme C15 smartphones. The Realme C20 retains a lot of specifications from its predecessors, but the company decided to downgrade the cameras. To recall, the C12 and C15 offered dual rear cameras on the back and the Realme C15 features a single 8MP sensor on the rear side. Realme has launched the C20 only in Vietnam at the moment, but the phone will likely launch in other markets including India very soon. Key specifications of the Realme C12 include 5000mAh battery and an HD+ display. When it reaches India, the phone will compete with the likes of Redmi 9 Power, Redmi 9 Prime and Poco M2 smartphones. Realme C20: Specifications and FeaturesLet’s take a look at the specifications of Realme C20 in detail. The phone sports a 6.5-inch HD+ screen with a resolution of 720×1600 pixels and 89% screen-to-body ratio. The screen on the Realme C20 is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology and there’s a teardrop notch on top. The phone is powered by MediaTek Helio G35 chipset, paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. There’s a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 256GB. Realme has launched the phone in only one variant. The handset weighs 190 grams because of the beefy battery and measures 8.9mm thick. Unlike the Realme C12 and Realme C15 devices, the Realme C20 has a single rear camera of 8MP. The C12 and C15 offered dual rear camera setups on the back. Accompanying the selfie camera is the LED flash. To the front of the phone, there’s a 5MP selfie snapper. The Realme C20 lacks fingerprint scanners, but thankfully, there’s support for software-based Face Unlock. It runs Android-based Realme UI 2.0 out of the box. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and Micro USB port. Lastly, the device sips juice from a 5000mAh battery which again is a downgrade compared to the previous phones with 6000mAh battery. The phone comes with a 10W charger and offers reverse charging support. Realme C20: Pricing and Expected India LaunchAs mentioned above, the Realme C20 comes in a single variant with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, priced at VND 24,90,000 (approx. Rs 7,900). Realme has launched the phone in Blue and Grey colour options. It is already up for sale in Vietnam. The Oppo spin-off company did not reveal the India launch details of Realme C20, however, we are expecting a surprise launch at the Realme X7 series event because the phone is largely similar to its predecessors. |
| Vi Prepaid Offers: Weekend Data Rollover, Double Data on Select Plans and More Detailed Posted: 24 Jan 2021 05:32 PM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/vi-prepaid-offers-2021-detailed/328041/, Vi Prepaid Offers: Weekend Data Rollover, Double Data on Select Plans and More Detailed

Vi prepaid offers available right now are weekend data rollover facility, double data benefit on select recharges and up to 5GB of extra data benefit for customers recharging via the telco’s mobile app/website. Early in last week, the telco extended the weekend data rollover facility till April this year. Under the weekend data rollover offer, the telco is allowing customers to carry forward the unused data benefit from weekdays to Saturday & Sunday. The Double Data offer is providing up to 2GB data per day, whereas the app/web exclusive offer allows customers to get up to 5GB of extra data. Vi Weekend Data Rollover Offer: Eligible PlansIntroduced in October 2020, Vi’s Weekend Data Rollover offer is one of the telecom operator’s unique offerings. Here’s how the work actually works: Consider the Rs 249 prepaid mobile phone plan as an example, it offers 1.5GB data per day for 28 days. Assume today is Monday and you have consumed just 500MB daily data, so the remaining 1GB of data will be carry forwarded to the weekend (Saturday and Sunday). So the unused data from Monday to Friday will be carry forwarded to weekends. And this data will expire on Sunday night at 11:59 PM. Starting 12 AM on Monday, a fresh cycle begins again. Vi Double Data Offer: Eligible PlansMoving onto the next Vi prepaid offer, we have the Double Data offer. Introduced back in June 2020, the third-largest telecom operator is providing Double Data benefit on three prepaid plans- Rs 299, Rs 449 and Rs 699. These three plans come with 2GB data per day for 28 days, 56 days and 84 days, respectively. Under the Vi Double Data offer, users get 4GB data per day for the same validity period. All the three plans offer unlimited voice calling, 100 SMSes per day and Vi Movies & TV app subscription for free. The Rs 98 data pack is also part of the Double Data offer as it providing 12GB data for 28 days. Vi Extra Data Offer Up to 5GB: Eligible PlansLastly, we have the Vi Extra Data offer that allows the telco’s prepaid users to avail 5GB of additional data at no extra cost. The telco is providing extra data on Rs 149, Rs 219, Rs 249, Rs 399 and Rs 599 prepaid plans. The Rs 149 plan comes with extra 1GB data, Rs 219 plan offers 2GB data, and the Rs 249, Rs 399 and Rs 599 plans offer 5GB of extra data. Vi users get extra data on Rs 149 and Rs 219 plans if recharged through MyVi app or the myvi.in website. The remaining three plans come with extra data if recharged only via MyVi application. The Combo plans of Rs 49 and Rs 79 are also part of the Extra Data offer because they are shipping with 200MB of extra data on MyVi app or myvi.in. |
