Honestly, there isn't a lot of difference between postpaid plans and prepaid plans today. The only major thing that postpaid plans bring to the table is 'add-on' connections. Apart from that, there is no big difference between prepaid plans and postpaid plans. Yet, for those of you, who are going to purchase new plans, we will single out the best postpaid plans in India 2021 from each operator so that it becomes easy for you to make a decision. We have chosen the plans which provide the maximum benefits against their value. JioThe Rs 799 per month plan is the best postpaid plan you can pick right now. This is because of multiple reasons. | Apple to Manufacture Products for Global Market in Tamil Nadu: Report Posted: 30 Jan 2021 04:56 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/apple-to-manufacture-products-for-global-market-in-tamil-nadu/331711/, Apple to Manufacture Products for Global Market in Tamil Nadu: Report
The shift of manufacturing electronic products and its components from China to India is still happening. As per recent developments, Apple is all set to manufacture its entire ecosystem of products for the global market in Tamil Nadu, India. It is worthy to note that Tamil Nadu already hosts Salcomp and Foxconn’s manufacturing facilities, which produce and supply Apple products and components. According to a report from ToI, the state cabinet met on the Friday evening where it approved around 34 industrial projects for the state which entails investments of approximately Rs 52,257 crore. These projects include investments from Apple suppliers such as Pegatron Corporation, Foxconn, Taiwan, Tata Electronics, and Luxshare of Taiwan. Apple Products Will be Manufactured in India Now for Global SupplyThe investments from all the several manufacturing and productions companies will result in job creations for about 94,000 people in the state. The state cabinet also approved a new Industrial Policy for Tamil Nadu which will be revealed in February 2021. Pegatron Corporation is all set to invest around Rs 1,100 crore in the first phase, which will result in job creation for more than 14,000 people of the state. Then Tata Electronics will invest around Rs 5,763 crore in the Krishnagiri district of the state, generating job opportunities for 18,250 people. Luxshare has plans of investing Rs 745 crore in the state which will create approximately 4,000 jobs. Luxshare is a Taiwanese company which will manufacture and supply wearables and other electronic components for Apple. It will be taking over the manufacturing unit of Motorola in the Sriperumbudur area located near Chennai. This will be a great feat for India since Apple will be manufacturing multiple products in the country that will be then exported to other countries and not the other way around. Will that bring down the costs of Apple products in the country? Well, that can't be said for sure. But it will place India in a great economic position. Adding to this, other smartphone makers are also trying to source or manufacturer their products locally in India. Samsung is one such company. It is soon going to shift its display manufacturing plant from China to India. The South Korean tech giant already has its biggest smartphone manufacturing facility in the world located at Noida, UP. With more and more 'Make in India' initiatives, the products might become a little cheaper than what they cost right now; but, another great thing that it will do to is boost India's economy. Are you excited to see Apple's manufacturing plants in India? |
| Spectrum Offering Increased by DoT in Certain Circles, Details Posted: 30 Jan 2021 12:27 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/spectrum-offering-increased-by-dot-in-certain-circles/331658/, Spectrum Offering Increased by DoT in Certain Circles, Details
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is now offering more spectrum of certain bands in select circles. It recently amended its Notice Inviting Applications (NIA) for the spectrum auctions slated to be held on March 1, 2021. The telecom department has increased the airwaves offered in the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz band. This has been done for select telecom circles only. The additional airwaves might have come from the excess spectrum holdings of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). It is worth noting that the state-run telco got its unified license renewed last month — more details on the story ahead. More Airwaves in the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz Spectrum Band Put into AuctionWhen the NIA was floated around by the telecom department earlier, it displayed that there will be around 81.4 MHz (paired) spectrum available for auction in the 900 MHz band. This involved every telecom circle in India except for Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan. But now, DoT is offered more airwaves in the 900 MHz band all over India except for the Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, and Rajasthan. The total quantum of the spectrum put to auction in 900 MHz bands has been increased to 98.8 MHz. The total spectrum blocks have also increased from 407 to 494. There have been 0.6 MHz to 1.6 MHz increase in offerings in the 900 MHz spectrum band on a circle to circle basis. As for the 1800 MHz band, as per the earlier NIA, it was put for auction throughout all the telecom circles in India except for North East. The total amount of spectrum offered for the spectrum in the 1800 MHz band was 316.5 MHz. But now that has been increased to 355 MHz. The total number of blocks have also been increased to 1775 from 1568. These are the states where the 1800 MHz spectrum offering has been increased: Assam, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh (both East and West), West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, North East, and Karnataka. Each of the circles will get between 1.8 MHz (paired) to 3.8 MHz (paired) airwaves more for the auction. The total additional airwaves as per the revised NIA is 41.1 MHz (paired) in the 1800 MHz band in 207 spectrum blocks. The auctions are bound to start in just over a month with January coming to an end. What are your thoughts on the airwaves increasing in these band groups? Which telco would go most after the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz bands PAN India? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below |
| Average Data Consumption per User Increases to 12.2GB in 2020: Economic Survey Posted: 29 Jan 2021 09:44 PM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/average-data-consumption-per-user-increases-to-12-2gb-in-2020-economic-survey/331623/, Average Data Consumption per User Increases to 12.2GB in 2020: Economic Survey
As per the Economic Survey that was conducted in 2020 in relation to broadband and the internet, the average data consumption per subscriber per month has shot up from 9.1GB in March 2019 to 12.2GB in June 2020. In other aspects, the internet, as well as broadband penetration, has grown rapidly in both urban and rural areas, with the number of subscribers for broadband and narrowband being 776.4 million, in comparison to 636.7 million in March 2019. Wireless Data Usage Witness Exponential Growth in 2020Wireless data usage too saw exponential growth during 2019, with the usage being a whopping 76.47 ExaBytes (1 billion GB). In comparison, during January-September 2020, the usage had reached an excess of 75.21 ExaBytes, stated the Economic Survey. The 75.12 ExaBytes data is just for the first nine months of 2020, and the number would be even higher if we consider October, November and December months’ consumption. Most importantly, the average wireless data consumption per subscriber in a given month shot up from 9.1GB in March 2019 to 12.2GB in June 2020, owing mostly to the pandemic and the shift to electronic methods for both personal as well as commercial tasks. That being said, there is still a gap between users and efforts are being done in this sector so as to shorten the digital gap between different people from certain areas. The survey stated that as of January 15, around 4.8 lakh km of optical fibre cables have been laid to cover 1.6 lakh Gram Panchayats, with 1.5 lakh Gram Panchayats having become service ready. Talking about some numbers related to wireless networks, wireless telephony constituted 98% of all subscriptions, while shares of landline telephones as of November stood at 1.7%. Overall teledensity in the country stood at 86% at the end of November. Meanwhile, tele-density in rural as well as urban areas stood at 59% and 139% respectively. Whilst this year did see a rise in terms of the density, especially in the context of rural areas, the gap between the two areas are still quite large, which needs to be tackled in a cost-effective manner. To tackle this, the government is taking some steps and has planned the Digital India programme, under which, the network infrastructure will be established for broadband highways, which would be accessible despite any bias, to provide affordable services to citizens and institutions within rural areas. This would be done with help from states and private sectors, so as to make this idea a reality, With this broadband in place, we could finally see this gap being bridged, in a cost-effective manner. |
