| Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G With MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC to Launch in India on January 18 Posted: 05 Jan 2021 05:58 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/oppo-reno-5-pro-india-release-date/323149/, Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G With MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC to Launch in India on January 18
The Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G will make its debut in India on January 18, as confirmed by the Chinese company on its social media handles. The Reno 5 Pro 5G will come with MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ chipset and it will be amongst the first few phones to feature Dimensity range of 5G chips. The Reno 5 Pro 5G will be the company’s first 5G phone under Oppo Reno series and it will replace the Reno 4 Pro that came with Snapdragon 720G chipset. Oppo is talking a lot about the camera features, primarily the video recording capabilities of the Reno 5 Pro 5G. Other key features of the Reno 5 Pro 5G include 3D borderless sense design, 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 charging and quad-camera setup on the back. Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G India Launch: What to ExpectTo recall, the Reno 5 Pro 5G made its debut in China last month. The Reno 5 Pro 5G is the second smartphone in Reno 5 series, including the standard Reno 5 and the premium Reno 5 Pro+. The landing page created on Oppo India’s website has no references to the Reno 5 and Reno 5 Pro+ launch. So it seems like only the Reno 5 Pro is launching this month. Even with the Reno 4 series, Oppo launched the Reno 4 Pro first. And the specifications of Reno 5 Pro will be very much identical to the one that’s already launched in China. The phone flaunts a 6.55-inch Full HD+ screen with a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels. There’s a punch-hole cutout on the top-left side of the display and Oppo has added 90Hz refresh rate to the screen. At the heart of the phone is the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ chipset, coupled with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The Reno 5 Pro 5G rocks a quad-camera setup on the rear with a 64MP primary lens, 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter, 2MP macro lens and a 2MP portrait lens. Oppo says the phone will offer AI Highlight Video feature along with Ultra Night Video and Live HDR. To the front, there’s a 32MP selfie snapper. The phone features a 4350mAh battery and supports 65W fast charging. The Reno 5 Pro 5G comes in Glitter Blue, Aurora Blue, and Midnight Black colour options. As for the expected pricing, the Reno 5 Pro 5G might launch in only one variant in India with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Since this is the first phone to launch with MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ chipset, we are unsure about the pricing. However, the phone costs CNY 3,399 (approx. Rs 38,500) for the 8GB+128GB model in China, so a price tag of Rs 39,999 or anything above is also possible. |
| Jio, Airtel and Vi Rs 399 Prepaid Plans Compared Posted: 05 Jan 2021 04:25 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/jio-airtel-vi-rs-399-prepaid-plans/323110/, Jio, Airtel and Vi Rs 399 Prepaid Plans Compared
Competition for providing the best-prepaid plans at the lowest cost possible is at an all-time high between the Indian telecom operators. While most of the prepaid plans from Vodafone Idea (Vi) and Airtel fall on the more expensive end when compared with Jio; there are prepaid plans which come for the same cost and almost provide similar benefits. One such plan is the Rs 399 offering. Jio, Airtel, and Vi all offer users a prepaid plan for Rs 399. Today, we are comparing this offering from the telcos and measure which one provides users with the most value. Jio Rs 399 PlanThe Rs 399 plan from Jio offers 1.5GB daily data, unlimited voice calling to any network within India, 100 SMS/day, and a complimentary subscription to all the Jio apps. The validity of this plan is 56 days only. Airtel Rs 399 PlanThe Rs 399 plan from Airtel also offers 1.5GB daily data to the users with unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS/day. Users also get a free over-the-top (OTT) benefit of Airtel Xstream Premium, Wynk Music, Free online courses with Shaw Academy for 1 year, free Hellotunes, and Rs 100 cashback on FASTag transaction. This plan also has the same validity of 56 days. Vodafone Idea Rs 399 PlanThe Rs 399 plan from Vi also has the same validity of 56 days as the other two plans above. Users get 1.5GB daily data, unlimited voice calling, and 100 SMS/day with the plan. There is also an OTT benefit of Vi Movies & TV included. In an exclusive offer, Vi is offering users recharging this plan with the mobile app bonus 5GB data for 28 days. This plan from Vi also gets the 'Weekend Data Rollover' offer. For the unaware, 'Weekend Data Rollover' offer allows users to carry forward all the unused data from the week to the weekend resulting in better gaming and streaming experience. Which One is the Best?Few things which are common amongst these plans are their pricing, daily fair usage policy (FUP) data, voice calling, validity period, and SMS benefits. Each of the operators is offering users with unique additional OTT benefits. But the best amongst these three when it comes to the Rs 399 plan is the offering from Vodafone Idea (Vi). This is because of the bonus data Vi offers to the users when they recharge this plan from the mobile app of the company and the 'Weekend Data Rollover' offer, which no other telco is providing to its users. |
| Tata Sky Broadband Offering 1 Gbps Plan With Unlimited Data, All to Know Posted: 05 Jan 2021 02:54 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/tata-sky-broadband-offering-1-gbps-plan/323099/, Tata Sky Broadband Offering 1 Gbps Plan With Unlimited Data, All to Know
Tata Sky Broadband, one of the fastest-growing internet service providers (ISPs) in India, is now offering a 1 Gbps speed plan. Until now, the maximum speed offered by the ISP in any of its plans was 300 Mbps. But as per a tweet from Balasaheb Satav, Tata Sky is offering a 1 Gbps plan to its users. However, this plan isn't available in every city yet, but it might be extended soon. The 1 Gbps plan is only offered in Wagholi (Pune suburb) and comes with multiple benefits like other Tata Sky Broadband plans — more details on the story ahead. Tata Sky Broadband 1 Gbps Plan DetailsTata Sky Broadband is offering its 1 Gbps plan to the users with unlimited data. Unlimited data in the case of Tata Sky Broadband means 3.3TB or 3,300GB data for the month. Post consumption of the fair-usage-policy (FUP) data, users can continue browsing at 3 Mbps speeds. Both the downloading and uploading speed offered with this plan is uniform which is 1 Gbps. The ISP is offering this plan in three different validity options: 3, 6, and 12 months. The 3 months plan will cost users Rs 14,160, 6 months plan will cost Rs 26,196, and 12 months plan will cost Rs 48,144. Note that all the prices are inclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST). This means that for the 3 months plan, the user is paying Rs 4,720 per month, for 6 months Rs 4,366 per month, and lastly, for 12 months it becomes Rs 4,012 per month. Tata Sky Broadband offers this plan with free installation services, a free Wi-Fi router, and a nil security deposit. This is the first time Tata Sky Broadband has introduced a 1 Gbps plan. The ISP offered plans ranging from 50 Mbps to 300 Mbps until now. Users also get a free landline service with this broadband plan. This pricing will certainly give competition to other ISPs such as Airtel Xstream Fiber and JioFiber, which offer a 1 Gbps plan as well. The price of the annual validity plan providing 1 Gbps speed to the users from Tata Sky is almost similar to that of the Airtel Xstream Fiber and JioFiber. However, there is one thing that is still missing from the broadband offerings of Tata Sky, and that is over-the-top (OTT) benefits. Other ISPs offer their users OTT benefits and thus take the lead over Tata Sky Broadband in that regards. If Tata Sky started offering OTT benefits with its broadband plans, it would become one of the best ISP’s in India. |
| Dish TV Bets on ‘Scan to Help’ Feature for Reducing Calls to Customer Care Posted: 05 Jan 2021 12:58 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/dish-tv-scan-to-help-feature-customer-care/323076/, Dish TV Bets on 'Scan to Help' Feature for Reducing Calls to Customer Care
Dish TV, one of India’s largest Direct-to-Home (DTH) operators, has announced 'Scan to Help' feature for its mobile app 'My DishTV'. The concept of this new feature has been founded by the first runner-up in 'Dish-a-thon' 2020 which coincidentally happens to be an in-house team for the DTH company – 'Team DishTV'. The new feature called 'Scan to Help' will be available for every subscriber of Dish TV who is logged in on its mobile app. With the 'Scan to Help' feature, Dish TV is banking on reducing the number of calls that its customer care team has to handle daily — more details ahead. Dish TV 'Scan to Help' is a Self-Help Feature for SubscribersThe 'Scan to Help' feature from Dish TV is aimed at helping all the new and existing subscribers of the company to solve any error or problem they are facing with the Set-Top Box (STB). With this in mind, Dish TV is looking to reduce the number of customer care calls it receives regularly. Along with the reduction in the number of customer care calls, it will also help the company in achieving higher C-SAT with an opportunity to cross-sell. This new feature is exclusively available for the subscribers of the DTH platform on the 'My DishTV' mobile app. 'Scan to Help' is powered by machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) to help solve customer problems. Furthermore, users can use both Hindi and English languages for interacting with the new feature. Whenever there is an error with the STB, the subscriber can open the mobile app and resort to this feature for self-help. Subscribers can simply scan the error plate upon which the app will reflect the user's current subscription and account status. If there is an issue of bad weather condition at the broadcasting centre, then it will check the weather conditions in the subscriber's locality and automatically go ahead with technical troubleshooting the issue. However, users can still get in touch with the customer care team of Dish TV. The 'Scan to Help' feature of Dish TV will allow users to create tickets right in the process of identifying and solving the problem. In case the issue is resolved on its own or with the troubleshooting, the subscriber can continue with consuming services. But if it isn’t resolved, subscribers will still have an option of resorting to the customer care ticket which was created during the process. |

| 4G Spectrum Auction Process Started Formally by DoT, Jio to Be the Main Buyer Posted: 04 Jan 2021 09:58 PM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/4g-spectrum-auction-process-jio/323055/, 4G Spectrum Auction Process Started Formally by DoT, Jio to Be the Main Buyer
The 4G spectrum auction will take place in March 2021 in India. It has been delayed a long time, but the formal process for the auction has been kicked off by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). DoT has started issuing notice inviting applications (NIA) to the operators. The NIA comprises of all the license conditions and rules regarding the auction. In the upcoming 4G spectrum sale, Jio will largely look to purchase maximum airwaves amongst all the operators. At the same time, Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) are likely to have more of a laid-back approach — more details on the story ahead. 4G Spectrum Auction Might Result in Rs 3.92 Lakh Crore Going into the Pockets of GovernmentIt is worthy to note that the upcoming 4G airwaves auction will include the 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz, and 2500 MHz bands. Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea have spectrum backups in multiple circles which they can rely on if they don't want to spend too much money. As per a report from ET Telecom, Jio is expected to show maximum participation in the auctions. This is because the airwaves it currently has along with the ones it shares with Reliance Communications in the 800 MHz bands are going to expire in about 12 to 14 telecom circles of the country starting July this year. Without these airwaves, the services of Jio will be impacted heavily. Thus the telecom operator will be looking to purchase airwaves more actively in the upcoming 4G spectrum auctions to continue providing seamless mobile services to its 400 million large customer base. Jio is aiming to reach 500 million subscriber mark as early as possible, and for that, the telco will need the new airwaves. The spectrum auctions are assumed to help government pocket up to Rs 3.92 lakh crore from the telecom operators. The analysts expect Jio alone to spend between Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 crore in the auctions for purchasing new airwaves. At the same time, Vi and Airtel won't be too keen on spending a large sum of money for airwaves at present. Furthermore, the analysts believe that chances for a bidding war are less likely to happen. This is because of the Rs 7 lakh crore debt the sector is in and also because there is a large quantity of spectrum on sale. Thus Vi and Airtel might not risk bidding too much for the airwaves since they already have a solid backup. |
| Xiaomi to Provide Free Service to Users With Bricked Mi A3 Posted: 04 Jan 2021 07:50 PM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/xiaomi-free-service-mi-a3-users/323039/, Xiaomi to Provide Free Service to Users With Bricked Mi A3
Xiaomi Mi A3 users whose device got bricked while upgrading to Android 11 can get it repaired at over 2,000 service centres for free of cost. After acknowledging the Android 11 update issue on Mi A3 a couple of days ago, Xiaomi yesterday sent out another media statement saying the smartphone users can get a free repair irrespective of the warranty. Additionally, the Chinese company halted the rollout. It is good to see Xiaomi offering a free service to all the customers within or beyond warranty, but the company could’ve prevented this major issue from happening. Xiaomi and its Android One range of phones always took centre stage for all the wrong reasons, and the Mi A3 is no exception. Xiaomi Mi A3 Android 11 Update Rollout HaltedThe Mi A3 was released last year with Android 9 Pie and it later on picked up Android 10 update. Right at the end of 2020, Xiaomi pushed the Android 11 update to Mi A3, only to halt it later after a large section of users complained about the update bricking their phones. Xiaomi immediately acknowledged the issue and halted the rollout. Yesterday, Xiaomi confirmed that the Mi A3 users who bricked their phone in the process of updating to Android 11 could visit to the company’s more than 2,000 service centres across India. Xiaomi says the company will fix the problem for free unconditionally (within or beyond warranty). Several Twitter users earlier complained that Xiaomi’s official service centres are charging the users to fix the bricked Mi A3. As the complaints continue to rise, Xiaomi decided to offer free service to the Mi A3 users. The Mi A3 could probably be the last Android One smartphone from Xiaomi as we did not see the Mi A4 in 2020. Every year Xiaomi promises that its Android One phones will pick up iterative Android update immediately after the release. When updating the Mi A1 to Android Oreo, Xiaomi faced major issues and it was followed by Mi A2’s Android 9 Pie update release in early 2020. Having said that, Xiaomi did not reveal the exact issue behind the recent Mi A3 debacle. If you are a Mi A3 user with a bricked phone, head over to any nearest store to fix the device. In addition, Xiaomi seems to have discontinued the Mi A3 in India as the phone is no longer listed on Mi.com. The phone is available for purchase on Flipkart, however, it isn’t available for delivery for any pin code. |
| BSNL Rs 449, Rs 799, Rs 999 and Rs 1,499 Broadband Plans Availability Extended by 90 Days Posted: 04 Jan 2021 05:35 PM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/bnsl-affordable-plans-availability-extended/323028/, BSNL Rs 449, Rs 799, Rs 999 and Rs 1,499 Broadband Plans Availability Extended by 90 Days
BSNL has extended the availability of its affordable Bharat Fiber plans for another 90 days. As per the latest information, the Rs 449, Rs 799, Rs 999 and Rs 1,499 Bharat Fiber broadband plans can be subscribed for another 90 days from January 4, 2021. For those unaware, BSNL introduced these plans on October 1, 2020, on a promotional basis (90 days). Thanks to the great response these plans received, BSNL is extending them. In October, BSNL narrowed down the subscriber loss to 50,000 as existing subscribers are migrating to these new offerings from the Internet Service Provider (ISP). All the four Bharat Fiber plans mentioned above and the Rs 599 plan offer 3.3TB FUP limit, in-line with JioFiber and Airtel Xstream Fiber broadband plans. Popular BSNL Bharat Fiber Plans Get Availability ExtensionThe BSNL Bharat Fiber Basic plan of Rs 449 comes with 30 Mbps speeds, 2 Mbps after FUP speeds, unlimited voice calling via BSNL landline service, 3.3TB FUP limit and 30 days validity. Do make a note that the Rs 499 Bharat Fiber Basic plan is available only to the new customers. The Rs 799 broadband plan aka Fiber Value 799 offers a user 100 Mbps speeds, 3.3TB FUP limit, 2 Mbps after FUP speeds and unlimited voice calling. Moving onto the Rs 999 plan (also known as Fiber Premium 999), it allows users to enjoy up to 200 Mbps upload & download speeds up to 3.3TB after which the speeds will be reduced to 2 Mbps. Lastly, the Rs 1,499 Bharat Fiber Ultra plan offers a user 300 Mbps speeds along with 3.3TB FUP limit and unlimited landline voice calls. While the Rs 449 plan is available only to new customers, the remaining plans are available for existing users as well. On top of these benefits, the Rs 999 and Rs 1,499 plans also offer Disney+ Hotstar Premium subscription at no extra cost. Talking about the terms and conditions, the plans mentioned above are exclusive of GST. Every user can subscribe the Rs 449 plan for only six months, after which they the customers will be upgraded to Fiber Basic Plus plan of Rs 599 or any other FTTH plan. Customers will be informed about this automatic plan change at the time of application itself. It is good to see BSNL extending the availability of these plans as they allow the ISP to compete better with the rival broadband operators.
