| Vodafone Idea Commences 3G Spectrum Migration to 4G in Delhi & NCR Posted: 06 Jan 2021 03:46 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/vodafone-idea-3g-spectrum-migration-4g-delhi-ncr/323282/, Vodafone Idea Commences 3G Spectrum Migration to 4G in Delhi & NCR
Vodafone Idea (Vi) has recently announced that it has started the process of 3G spectrum migration to 4G in all sites of Delhi and NCR. This would allow the telecom operator to enhance GIGAnet 4G capacity in the capital of the country. For doing so, Vi has deployed 5 MHz of 2100 MHz spectrum band in the city. This would ensure that Vi users living in the Delhi and NCR region are enabled to browse the internet at very high download and upload speeds. Further, this move would also result in better indoor coverage for the Vi users — more details on the story ahead. Vi to Continue Offering 2G Services, However Refarming 3G Spectrum to 4G in DelhiThe telecom operator has said that it will continue to offer 2G services in the capital. However, to strengthen the current 4G infrastructure of the city, it is refarming the 3G spectrum to 4G. This will provide Vi users living in the Delhi and NCR region with better network coverage and overall quality in addition to stronger traffic carriage capacity. Just last month, Vodafone Idea announced that it has successfully migrated the 3G spectrum to 4G in all sites of Mumbai. During the same month, Vi also migrated the 3G spectrum to 4G in all sites of Bengaluru. For the unaware, Vi has executed one of the largest AI-powered ma-MIMO deployments in the country with the installation of 12,000+ sites. Adding to this, it has also managed to do the world's largest DSR deployments in the key markets resulting in a better internet speed experience for the users. Ookla, one of the leading broadband speed testing companies said that Vi offered the fastest 4G downloading and uploading speeds in India during the July-September 2020 period. Vi subscribers using 3G SIMs living in the Delhi and NCR region can enjoy seamless data and calling experience by upgrading to a 4G SIM as soon as possible. It is worthy to note that upgrading from a 3G SIM to 4G would be cost-free for the users. Arvinder Singh Sachdev, Operations Director of VI in Delhi & NCR said that the company has completed over 2400 ma-MIMO installations in the region which no other telecom operator in India has done yet. At the same time, Vi has also deployed 2100+ small cells in the region to help with network congestion issues. Going ahead, Vi users living in Delhi & NCR should be able to experience the true power of GIGAnet 4G with enhanced downloading and uploading speeds. |

| Bharti Airtel Witnessing Healthy Subscriber Additions Over Reliance Jio: Analyst Posted: 06 Jan 2021 02:00 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/airtel-witnessing-healthy-subscriber-additions-over-jio/323262/, Bharti Airtel Witnessing Healthy Subscriber Additions Over Reliance Jio: Analyst
Reliance Jio Expected to "Witness Further Moderation" in User AdditionsThe firm said that Reliance Jio is expected to "witness further moderation" in user additions as the operator faces "potential spectrum crunch" along with the farmer agitations also having an impact on the subscriber numbers. It is said that Reliance Jio requires to spend Rs 28,000 crore to renew its expiring spectrum. The largest wireless operator in India is said to have 115 MHz of spectrum in the 800 MHz band that is said to have been acquired/shared from Reliance Communications up for expiry across 19 circles. The firm engaged in the trading markets said that the "lacklustre performance" by Reliance Jio on subscriber additions post the operator raising funds in 2020 may result in "another tariff war." However, Dolat Capital also said that the tariff war may be "unlikely" as Reliance Jio will be a "major loser" as the operator is now the market leader. The firm said that the "lacklustre performance" by Reliance Jio may thus lead to a "potential price increases to drive performance." Vodafone Idea Fundraise "Key Risk" with Lack of Material Price IncreaseDolat Capital highlighted that Vodafone Idea continues to lose users as the operator has issues in "optimising cash flows." "With industry consolidation and struggle of VIL, telecom remains a long-term compounding story," Dolat Capital said in a report. "The sector is likely to turn out into either 'two-private player market or Rs 250 ARPU' scenario with near 100% probability of these events on a combined basis." While recent reports suggest that the third largest operator will soon announce a "big round of fundraising," Dolat Capital said that any such plans will be a "key risk" with the "lack of material price increases." "Bharti with its superior execution and Balance sheet strength is best positioned as a pure-player telecom operator," Dolat Capital said in a report. "Indus Tower is a proxy play on telecom tariff increases but runs the risk of VIL shutdown." The firm estimates Airtel to add 7.5 million users in the third quarter while recording 1.5% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) increase in average revenue per user (ARPU) column. Further, Dolat Capital estimates Reliance Jio ARPU to hit Rs 147 in the third quarter, translating to an 1.5% increase QoQ with the operator registering five million user additions. |

Samsung is going to launch the much-awaited Galaxy S21 series later this month. Like always, leaks about the specs of the devices have surfaced online. One of the most anticipated devices of the series is the Galaxy S21 Ultra. For the unaware, the South Korean tech giant is expected to release three devices in the series namely Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra. Now information related to the specs of Galaxy S21 Ultra has surfaced online. Keep reading ahead to find out about the camera and display specs of the device going to launch soon. Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Camera Specifications (Expected)The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra might don a quad-camera setup at the rear. The primary sensor of the camera is expected to be a 108MP (HM2 or HM3) lens, paired with a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, 10MP telephoto lens, and another 10MP telephoto snapper. For clicking selfies and video calling, the smartphone is expected to come with a 40MP sensor at the front with f/2.2 aperture. The two telephoto lenses in the device are expected to provide users with 3x and 10x optical zoom feature. There might also be an LED flash in the camera setup along with a laser autofocus unit in the device. The camera sensors of the smartphone are expected to come with OIS support. Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Display Specifications (Expected)Last year, Samsung introduced 120Hz refresh rate on its Galaxy S20 series. However, it was only limited to a full-HD display. At the same time, devices with WQHD+ display only supported up to 60Hz refresh rate. But now, as per a report from Ice Universe, the Samsung Galaxy S21 series might feature devices with support for 120Hz refresh rate on WQHD+ displays. According to the report, Galaxy S21 Ultra might be the only device to get the support of this feature/specification. If this is true, then Galaxy fans won't have to choose between higher display or higher refresh rate from the future. They can get both of it in the same device. The device is further rumoured to be able to achieve the highest brightness of 1600nits. The screen size of the Galaxy S21 Ultra is expected to be 6.8-inch. Other specs of the device leaked online suggest that it might get the support of S-Pen Stylus. More information about the devices will be revealed that day. |
| RIL’s Petition for Damaged Jio Properties Heard by HC, Notice of Motion Issued Posted: 05 Jan 2021 11:25 PM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/ril-petition-jio-properties-heard-hc/323243/, RIL's Petition for Damaged Jio Properties Heard by HC, Notice of Motion Issued
The High Court (HC) of Punjab and Haryana has heard the petition filed by Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) for action against all the parties involved in damaging Jio's properties. Things haven't been smooth for Jio in Punjab and Haryana lately because of the outrage against the new farm laws introduced by the centre. Protesters and different unions have taken it upon themselves to bring justice to the farmers; but in the process of doing so, somehow Jio came under the bus. People blame Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and Mukesh Ambani for the new farm laws saying that they stand to benefit the most from it. But that's not true, and the good thing for Jio is that the HC has heard its petition. As per a PTI report, the HC has also issued a notice of motion on the case for February 8, 2021. Over 1,500 Jio Towers Damaged, Disruption in Services and MoreOver the last few weeks, around 1,500 Reliance Jio towers were damaged by the miscreants in Punjab. This resulted in the disruption of telecom services in multiple parts of the state. Power supply to many towers have been cut off, and the cables were damaged as well. In the petition filed, Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Home Ministry chief secretary, and the Punjab Director General of Police (PDGP) are deemed respondents by Jio. The petition details that the miscreants have forced multiple Jio stores in the state to close by using 'illegal force and intimidation'. Adding to this, the petition highlights that several Jio customers have been forced and threatened to port their numbers to other networks. Many of the Jio employees have also had to face serious threats to their life and are being withheld from serving Jio customers in the state. Reliance Jio or RIL Doesn't Have any Interest in Farming ActivitiesThe petition filed on January 4 said neither Jio nor the parent company stands to benefit anything from the new farm laws introduced by the government. RIL believes that all the propaganda against Jio has been instigated by its rivals Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi). The company has clearly mentioned that it is not vested directly or indirectly in any kind farming or agricultural activities. Further, RIL doesn't even have any plans of entering 'contract' or 'corporate' farming domain in the future. Now the case is slated to have its first hearing on February 8, 2021. All the respondents will have to come out and answer for the acts of vandalism, which have resulted in losses and damaged properties for Jio. |
| Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite Powered by Snapdragon 732G SoC Leaks Online Posted: 05 Jan 2021 09:44 PM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/xiaomi-mi-11-lite-leaked/323227/, Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite Powered by Snapdragon 732G SoC Leaks Online
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite could be the most affordable smartphone in the Mi 11 series. Last week, Xiaomi made the Mi 11 official in China and it is the first phone in the world to ship with Snapdragon 888 5G chipset. There are also reports regarding the Mi 11 Pro and it also seems like a new mid-range smartphone aka the Mi 11 Lite will accompany it. The Mi 11 Lite is said to arrive with Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G chipset. This information regarding the Mi 11 Lite comes from a Vietnamese YouTuber- The Pixel. The YouTuber says Xiaomi will launch the Mi 11 Lite after the Mi 11 Pro’s launch in February. Going by the specifications leaked, the Mi 11 Lite will have identical hardware to the Poco X3. Continue reading to know more about the Mi 11 Lite in detail. Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite Leaked: Everything You Should KnowXiaomi’s Mi 11 Lite is currently rumoured to be the cheapest model in the Mi 11 series. Right now, Xiaomi launched just one phone in the series and it is the flagship Mi 11 with Snapdragon 888 5G chipset. The YouTuber says the Mi 11 Lite will be powered by Snapdragon 732G chipset which we earlier saw on the Poco X3. The handset will likely have a triple camera system on the back featuring a primary 64MP lens, 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP macro lens. The leaked renders of the Mi 11 Lite suggest the phone will have a punch-hole cutout to the left corner and that is expected to house a 16MP selfie snapper. The presence of Snapdragon 732G is questionable as the chipset lacks 5G support. In China, Xiaomi is aiming to launch all phones with 5G support, so the Mi 11 Lite could not be for its homeland after all. A separate report also says the Mi 11 Lite will have a different processor in some regions, but nothing is confirmed for now. Other specs of the Mi 11 Lite include 120Hz IPS LCD display, side-mounted fingerprint scanner and 6GB of RAM. It is also said the phone will come with Android 11-based MIUI 12 out of the box. Lastly, the Mi 11 Lite is expected to retail for VND 75,00,000 (approx. Rs 23,500). The YouTuber also claimed the launch of Mi 11 Lite would likely happen in March 2021, after the Mi 11 Pro’s launch in February 2021. Xiaomi is rumoured to launch a premium version of Mi 11 aka the Mi 11 Pro next month with some upgraded specifications. |

OnePlus 9 Pro to Support 45W Wireless ChargingA recent report highlighted the OnePlus 9 would have wireless charging functionality with up to 30W charging speeds. To differentiate the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, the company is planning to add 45W wireless charging support on the latter. If this happens, the OnePlus 9 Pro be amongst the phones with fast wireless charging capabilities. The Huawei P40 Pro+ and the Oppo Reno Ace launched last year featured 40W wireless charging support. Xiaomi’s Mi 10 Pro also offered 30W wireless charging functionality, whereas the Huawei P40 Pro and Mate 30 came with 27W wireless fast charging. The latest iPhones support up to 15W wireless charging and the upcoming Galaxy S21 series may have up to 9W wireless charging. The fastest wireless charging phone right now is the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra which can charge at 50W speeds. Going by this report, the OnePlus 9 Pro will be the second-fastest wireless charging phone, but again, nothing is official for now, so take this news with a pinch of salt. As we already know, both the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro will support 65W wired charging, similar to the recently launched OnePlus 8T. As for other news, OnePlus is planning to unveil three phones under the OnePlus 9 series- the standard OnePlus 9, the premium OnePlus 9 Pro and the affordable OnePlus 9 Lite. The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G chipset, while the OnePlus 9 Lite is rumoured to feature Snapdragon 865 5G SoC. The OnePlus 9 Lite might lack wireless charging and the wired charging speeds could also be on the lower side at 30W. For the unaware, the OnePlus 9 series will likely launch in March 2021, ahead of the usual OnePlus’ launch timeline of May or June. Other key features of the OnePlus 9 Pro include Quad HD+ display, up to 16GB of RAM, a bigger battery than the OnePlus 8 Pro and improved cameras. |
