Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) offers a ton of services to its users. Be it prepaid, postpaid, broadband, landline, or satellite phone recharge customers, every customer of the state-run telco can get a duplicate bill if he/she wishes to. The operator also allows users to check their bills online, make online payments, check the balance for their respective connections and more. Today, we will focus on how you can generate a duplicate bill for your BSNL connection. How to General Duplicate Bill for BSNL?If you want to generate a duplicate bill for your BSNL connection, you will have to follow a series of very simple steps mentioned ahead. Step 1 would be to visit the telco's portal. This link will take you to the portal of BSNL – https://portal.bsnl.in/myportal/authorize.do. The next step would be to sign-in. You will have to enter your registered phone number/email id/old username for signing-in to your account. But this is for the registered users only. For the unregistered users trying to sign-in for the first time, they will have to click on the 'sign-up' option and create an account from there. Once their account is confirmed, they can return to the 'sign-in' page and sign-in to their account. After you have signed in, click on the service you want (that is of course for duplicate bills in this case). Then enter your registered landline number or mobile number again. The duplicate bill should open for you right away if you have followed all the steps. There is another method, as well. For this one, select the 'services' option and click on 'My Bills'. After that, you have to click on the number you want the bill to be generated for. Once you click the number, the bills will open for you. You can select the bill you want and also download it on your device. You can do that by finding the download option on the screen. |
| Indian Smartphone Market Declined 1.7% YoY in CY2020: IDC Posted: 15 Feb 2021 04:02 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/indian-smartphone-market-declined-yoy-cy2020/335936/, Indian Smartphone Market Declined 1.7% YoY in CY2020: IDC
The Indian smartphone market saw a decline in the number of smartphone units shipped in CY2020. According to a report from the International Data Corporation (IDC), 150 million units of smartphones shipped during last year, which is 1.7% lesser on a YoY basis. The decline in the growth rate can be credited to the lockdown and shutting down of production facilities in India and around the globe for consecutive months. During the first half of 2020 (H1), smartphones’ demand went down by 26%. But it recovered quite well during the second half (H2) marking a 19% YoY growth rate for the H2 in 2020 — more details on the story ahead. Fourth Quarter of 2020 Saw Record Shipment of SmartphonesThe IDC report highlighted that the demand for smart products such as smartphones, laptops, and tablets grew rapidly in 2020 due to lockdowns and restrictions pushing people to learn and work from their homes. The smartphone industry fared well during the last quarter of 2020 witnessing a record fourth-quarter (Q4) shipment of 45 million smartphone units. It registered a 21% YoY growth for the Q4. While 2020 saw a decline in smartphones’ total shipment, IDC believes that the number will surely rise in CY2021 with consumers looking to upgrade their smartphones. More and more consumers are expected to upgrade with mid-range devices and affordable 5G smartphones in CY2021. Xiaomi turned out to be the number one smartphone brand in India with its online position for the year 2020 standing at 39% share with Redmi 9 series leading the way in H2 of 2020. Samsung remained in the second position with its heavily online-driven smartphone series launched during the year – 'M' and 'F'. Samsung's online channel saw a growth rate of 65% YoY. Followed by Samsung, Vivo stood at the third position driven by its 'Y' series smartphones and offline distribution channel. At the fourth position was Realme that surpassed Oppo. Even after introducing the cheaper iPhone SE 2, Apple came out to be in the seventh position. |
| Here is How You Can Access Play Store on Chromecast With Google TV Posted: 15 Feb 2021 02:37 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/access-play-store-on-chromecast-google-tv/335918/, Here is How You Can Access Play Store on Chromecast With Google TV
Google TV, the latest-interface for Chromecast, was released by Google last year. You can access all the apps and settings from the UI’s home screen, but you won't be able to access the complete Play Store. If you are wondering why do you need complete access to Play Store, here is why. While you can search and open and even try all the new apps from the 'Apps' tab on Google TV, you won't be able to update them or change their settings manually. To do that, you need the access to Play Store and here is how you can get it. Getting Access to Play Store With Chromecast on Google TVYou can employ three methods to get access to the Play Store with Chromecast on Google TV. The first one is by using 'Google Assistant'. Google Assistant is the virtual assistant developed by Google which can take voice commands from you. Just tap on the 'Google Assistant' button on your remote and say 'Play Store'. The assistant will open it for you. The second method is by using 'App Settings'. Firstly, open the side panel on your Chromecast, then find Settings. After going into Settings, go to See All Apps > Show System Apps > Google Play Store. While it involves a lot more work than the first method, it is still not a very hard process to remember. Lastly, the third way to get complete access to Play Store with Chromecast on Google TV is by 'Button Mapping'. It will require some work to be done, but you will have one-button access to the Play Store once completed. To do this, you will have to download 'Button Mapper' and give it all the permissions it requires. Once that is done, open the app and choose the button you would like to give you one-press access to Play Store. After you have chosen the button, select 'Double-tap' and then in the pop-up, switch to Applications and select 'Play Store'. These are all the methods you can use to access Play Store on Chromecast with Google TV. |
| WhatsApp Questioned by Supreme Court on Its New Privacy Policies Posted: 15 Feb 2021 01:47 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/whatsapp-questioned-supreme-court-privacy-policies/335899/, WhatsApp Questioned by Supreme Court on Its New Privacy Policies
The Supreme Court (SC) of India has questioned WhatsApp and Facebook on introducing new stringent privacy policy for the Indian users. The apex court has asked the social media giants about why Indian users haven't been provided with the same leniency on accepting new privacy policies as the European users. According to a report from the Livemint, the SC has said that it will have to intervene in the matter to protect the privacy rights of the Indian citizens — more details on the story ahead. People Value Privacy More than Money Says Supreme CourtThe bench comprising of Chief Justice of India (CJI) – AS Bopanna, SA Bobde, and V Ramasubramanian said that Indian users are very concerned about their privacy since the time WhatsApp has introduced its new privacy policies. The bench said, "You (Facebook and WhatsApp) may be a $2-3 trillion company, but people value their privacy more than money." The SC was hearing an application on why the privacy standards for Indian users are lower than that for the European users. The application submitted to the SC said that there is no clarity on when the Data Protection Legislation will come into effect for the country. Thus, until then, the apex court needs to overlook the new privacy policies introduced by WhatsApp to protect the rights of crores of Indian citizens. Facebook and WhatsApp have both denied the allegations made by the government about sharing data of their users. The social media giants have told the court that all the fears are 'baseless'. The companies said that the same privacy policy has been introduced in other countries (except European nations) where there are active data protection laws. For the unaware, WhatsApp introduced new privacy policies in January this year which hasn't gone down too well with the users across the globe. The new policies were to come into effect from February 8, 2021, but now the date has been extended to May 15, 2021. |
| Telecom Industry to See Higher ARPU of Rs 220 in Medium Term: ICRA? Posted: 15 Feb 2021 12:30 AM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/telecom-industry-see-higher-arpu-of-rs-220/335893/, Telecom Industry to See Higher ARPU of Rs 220 in Medium Term: ICRA?
India’s telecom industry is all set to record a higher average revenue per user (ARPU) figure in the coming years. This will be the result of increased tariffs which the telcos may introduce in the FY2021-22. According to ICRA, the shift of users from 2G/3G to 4G across the country in the coming years along with the tariff hikes (expected in the next two quarters) will help the industry record an ARPU figure of Rs 220 in the medium-term. It will further improve the industry revenue by about 11% to 13% in the coming two years — more details on the story ahead. Improved Cashflow Expected for the IndustryAccording to an investment information firm ICRA, cash flow for the telecom industry should improve in the upcoming financial year. Adding to this, the industry’s moderation in capex intensity will reduce the need for more external borrowings for operations. However, the adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues will act as a dampener against the improved cash flow. ICRA believes that the industry’s total debt will remain elevated at Rs 4.7 lakh crores at the end of FY2021-22 (March 31, 2022). But the improvement in operating metrics will result in the expansion of debt coverage indicators for the industry. As per ICRA, the interest coverage is expected to get better and go to 2.5x for the upcoming financial year. Further, the total debt/OPBDITA (operating profit before depreciation, interest and taxes) is expected to come down to 4.6x from 7.6x for the same period. ICRA believes that most of the revenues for the industry will come from non-telecom services. It would include enterprise businesses, digital, cloud, and fixed broadband services. 5G is also expected to add to the growth of the industry. However, a fast-upgradation and pan-India rollout of 5G will take a long time given the precarious balance sheets of the telcos and huge debt on the industry. |

| Airtel to Invest in 30,000+ Cell Sites, Fiber and FTTH Rollout This Year: Sunil Mittal Posted: 14 Feb 2021 11:08 PM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/airtel-invest-30000-cell-sites-fiber-ftth-rollout/335874/, Airtel to Invest in 30,000+ Cell Sites, Fiber and FTTH Rollout This Year: Sunil Mittal
Bharti Airtel will invest heavily in building new cell sites, fiber and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) rollout this year. The telco saw net profits in its books after six consecutive quarters. Sunil Mittal, founder and chairperson of Bharti Airtel said that the worst is over for the telco. According to a report from ET Telecom, Mittal said that resetting the industry has only strengthened Airtel since the telco emphasises a lot on investing in its networks and keeps customers ahead of anything. Airtel Approximately Has 35% Revenue Market ShareWhen questioned about the revenue market share, Mittal said even though Vodafone Idea's (Vi) results are yet to come, Airtel should hold around 35% revenue market share. He revealed that Airtel's capital expenditure in the last five years has been about Rs 20,000 crore every year, excluding spectrum costs. Mittal said that the telco is planning to build and invest in more than 20,000 to 30,000 cell sites this year. Further, Airtel will also invest in fiber and FTTH rollout heavily. He also noted that Airtel would invest more in its Direct-to-Home (DTH) arm, Airtel Digital TV, and side by side will keep building data centres. After this, the telco would move on to the 5G investment cycle. Mittal also said that Airtel could clear up the bank dues of Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 crores in a few months. This would enable the telco in focusing completely on the spectrum-related debt (Adjusted Gross Revenue dues). Mittal confirmed about the presence of a separate arm of Bharti Airtel called 'Airtel Digital' that houses all the company’s digital entities. The company is still discussing how it can restructure its new 'digital' arm, with around 119 million active customers. According to Mittal, the aim of creating 'Airtel Digital' is to make two monetisable vehicles. Investors who only want a piece of Airtel Digital can now buy freely without worrying about its telecom part. |
| Apple iPhone 13 Rumoured to Have Always-on Display Functionality Posted: 14 Feb 2021 09:58 PM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/apple-iphone-13-features-tipped/335866/, Apple iPhone 13 Rumoured to Have Always-on Display Functionality
Cupertino giant Apple seems to be finalising the features for iPhone 13 series that’s expected to launch sometime in Q4 2021. It has been just four months since the arrival of iPhone 12 devices and we have started hearing about the iPhone 13 devices already. A new YouTube video from the popular EverythingApplePro says the iPhone 13 series will have always-on display functionality- a feature that was present on Android smartphones for several years now. Besides, the iPhone 13 devices will have a ‘refined matte back,’ and the Pro models may finally gain 120Hz refresh rate support. Other rumoured features include upgraded wide-angle camera on the rear and new astrophotography features. Apple iPhone 13 Features Leaked: Everything You Need to KnowApple was heavily rumoured to introduce 120Hz refresh rate with the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max models. But that did not happen as the company focussed heavily on 5G. Nevertheless, Apple is already tipped to launch the iPhone 13 series with 120Hz refresh rate, however, the feature is said to be limited to the Pro models. Apple might use low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) technology on the iPhone 13 devices alongside bringing the ProMotion display tech from the iPad Pro to iPhones. The 2021 iPhones are also tipped to offer always-on display support, although with very basic functionality, and again, it will be limited to the Pro models. For the unaware, always-on display feature will allow Apple to show notifications whenever they arrive by lighting up the screen. It is said that Apple will always display the battery percentage left and the clock on the screen. The phones may have a refreshed design on the back. The YouTuber claims the iPhone 13 Pro models will have a refined matte finish on the rear with a textured design, that might result in a better grip. The company is also rumoured to upgrade the ultra-wide-angle sensor on the iPhone 13 models to 5P lens. The device may finally support Portrait Video and iOS 15 will likely bring astrophotography features. |
| Moto E7 Power With Helio G25 SoC and 5000mAh Tipped to Launch in India Soon Posted: 14 Feb 2021 07:40 PM PST This post first appeared on TelecomTalk Read more at: https://telecomtalk.info/moto-e7-power-rumoured-specs/335843/, Moto E7 Power With Helio G25 SoC and 5000mAh Tipped to Launch in India Soon
Motorola is soon expected to launch an entry-level smartphone in India, dubbed as the Moto E7 Power. The Lenovo-owned company is notably bringing new devices to India every now and then to stay afloat in the market. The next device from the company is rumoured to be an entry-level one taking on the likes of Redmi 9A, Realme C12 and Micromax In 1b smartphones. Tipster Mukul Sharma claims the Moto E7 Power will likely have a beefy 5000mAh battery and it will be powered by the MediaTek Helio G25 chipset. Going by the chipset, we are certain that Motorola will price this device for under Rs 8,000. The same phone was also spotted on benchmarking portal Geekbench with Helio P22 chipset, but Mukul says the phone will indeed have Helio G25 SoC under the hood. Moto E7 Power to Rival Redmi 9A and Micromax In 1b in IndiaMotorola started the affordable 5G smartphone revolution in India with the Moto G 5G smartphone a couple of months ago. The smartphone was powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G chipset. It is now said that the next handset from Motorola will be the Moto E7 Power. In mid-2020, Motorola launched the Moto E7 Plus smartphone in India with Snapdragon 460 SoC at Rs 9,999. In the same Moto E7 series, the company will be launching the ‘Moto E7 Power’ smartphone. The tipster revealed the two key specifications of Moto E7 Power and they are the MediaTek Helio G25 chipset and the 5000mAh battery. These two specs will put the smartphone against the Redmi 9A in India that’s also powered by the same G25 SoC. Priced at Rs 6,999, the Redmi 9A offers an HD+ display, 5000mAh battery and 2GB of RAM. We are expecting the Moto E7 Power to have at least 3GB of RAM because Google has now mandated to include Android Go Edition on smartphones with less than 2GB of RAM. Rest of the specifications like HD+ screen, stock Android and a dual rear camera setup could be similar to the Moto E7 Plus. Motorola is expected to reveal more details about the E7 Power in the coming days. |
