poco-india-adds-evil-to-its-logo

Poco India has revealed a new logo for the company and the interesting thing is it has added a bit of an 'evil' to it. It is indeed a marketing strategy from the Chinese smartphone maker to gain the attention of mobile users across India. Poco India has changed its logo to redefine the madness it wants to create with its products and the new logo can be seen at the Twitter handle of the company. The logo has a pinch of 'evil', 'madness', and a bit of 'goodness' as too, creating curiosity amongst the mind of customers.

Poco's Interesting Mascot Has a Bit of Every Thing

The logo is aimed to create confusion in the minds of the people in the country. The new logo's first 'O' is replaced by the mascot. The mascot has evil eyes, but an angel’s ‘halo’, and big ears denoting madness. There is also an inverted triangle with a sharp wit that Poco is known for using from time to time on its social media handles.

A thing worth noting here is that the new logo is only reflecting on the Poco India Twitter profile and not on the global division of the company. It hasn't been long since Poco became an independent brand separating from Xiaomi.

On several occasions, the company has been seen trying to create a distinct identity for itself. However, at the same time, Poco has launched several devices which are rebadged version of Xiaomi devices.

The last device that Poco launched in India was Poco M3. The Poco M3 was launched for Rs 10,999 (base variant) and it comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC and stereo-speakers. Poco M3 has up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It saw a lot of success in Flipkart on the day of its first sales with over 1,50,000 units of the device being ordered and more than 3 million customers showing interest in buying the device.

Realme will launch three new products in India on February 24, namely Realme Narzo 30A, 30 Pro 5G, and Buds Air 2. The company confirmed the launch of the products via a tweet, saying the launch event will go live at 12 PM. Gadgets360 got an invite from the company, which included the information about the launch of the Realme Buds Air 2 on the same day. The Realme Buds Air 2 will be the successor of Realme Buds Air, launched in December 2019.

Realme Narzo 30A, 30 Pro 5G, and Buds Air 2 Launch, What Can You Expect?

Madhav Sheth has recently confirmed via a tweet about the presence of MediaTek Dimensity 800U 5G processor in one of the devices, which is obviously the Realme Narzo 30 Pro 5G. The design of both the Narzo 30A and Narzo 30 Pro 5G can be seen on the teaser page present on the website of Realme.

The Realme Narzo 30 Pro 5G seems like a rebranded Realme Q2 launched earlier in China. The design of a device present on the website and its silver colour is very similar to Realme Q2. The Realme Narzo 30A is expected to come with a square-shaped layout for the rear camera and a two-tone textured design.

If the Realme Narzo 30 Pro 5G is a rebadged version of the Realme Q2, it might come with a 6.5-inch FHD+ display with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The device might have a triple camera setup at the rear with a 48MP primary sensor paired with an 8MP wide-angle-sensor and a 2MP macro shooter. At the front, there might be a 16MP sensor for video calling and selfies. The Realme Narzo 30 Pro 5G may come with a 5,000mAh battery with support for 30W fast-charging.

The Realme Narzo 30A might come powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC and a triple-camera setup at the rear. But all of it is a rumour for now, and we will have to wait until the launch of the devices to see what they come with.

apple-start-producing-ipads-india

World's biggest tech company, Apple, might start manufacturing iPads in India this year. The Cupertino tech giant is shifting its production facilities from China to India and Vietnam for minimising the impact of the USA-China trade war and the coronavirus. According to a report from Reuters, Apple is looking to participate in the new Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme of the government for boosting India's exports of computer products. Thus, Apple might start manufacturing iPads as early as this year in India — more details on the story ahead.

Apple to Produce iPads in India With Manufacturing Partners

The Indian government is currently planning to introduce a new PLI scheme looking to increase the exports of computer products such as laptops and tablets. The new PLI scheme budget will be up to Rs 70 billion ($965.4 million) spread across five years. It is expected to be announced by the government by the end of this February.

Apple can ask its contract manufacturing partners in the country, Foxconn and Wistron for producing iPads in India. However, Apple hasn't taken Wistron out of probation yet after the incident last year.

If Apple decides to give the contract of manufacturing iPads in India to its Chinese partner, BYD Electronic International, its plans may get delayed since India doesn't want Chinese companies to get new tech businesses and contracts based out of India.

A government official said that Apple should award the contract of manufacturing iPads in India to the non-Chinese companies. One of the three companies that might get the contract are Foxconn, Wistron, and Pegatron.

Which company would end up with the contract is unclear at the moment. Apple has been manufacturing iPhones in India since 2017 and has ramped up the productions with every year that has gone by.

Foxconn had already pledged that it plans to invest up to $1 billion for expanding its factory in Southern India to assemble iPhones.

pli-scheme-announced-to-promote-innovation

The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme of Rs 12,195 crore announced for the telecom equipment manufacturing will boost 'innovation' in the telecom industry. It will give way to more employment opportunities, increase local production, and poise India to serve as a global hub for innovation. The Cellular Operators' Association of India (COAI) has praised the government’s move saying that telecom is the backbone of the digital infrastructure in India and will help the country stay connected.

PLI Scheme Will Lead to Production of Rs 2.44 Lakh Worth of Equipment

According to a PTI report, the PLI scheme for the telecom equipment manufacturing will generate the production of equipment worth Rs 2.44 lakh as per estimates. The PLI scheme is expected to generate employment directly or indirectly for up to 40,000 people in the country.

The scheme will be operational from April 1, 2021. The scheme aims to make India the global hub for manufacturing of telecom equipment including 4G and 5G radio access network (RAN) products, Customer Premises Equipment (CPE), other wireless equipment such as routers, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

Emerging Markets TMT Leader, Prashant Singh from EY said that it is a 'masterstroke' to enhance India's contribution to the global value chain. He said that this move would boost the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) market concentrating in the digital environment. Further, he said that the PLI scheme will attract foreign investments and will help India move towards its goal of a trillion-dollar economy.

According to Singh, the scheme is a move to advance the 'vocal for local' agenda of the government. Tony Verghese, Partner at J Sagar Associates, said that the scheme would be a major boost for 'product manufacturing' in the telecom industry. With 5G going to launch soon, this scheme will prove to be an 'impetus' for the government’s ‘Make in India' initiative.

samsung-galaxy-receiving-one-ui-3-1

Samsung has started rolling out the new 'One UI 3.1' update for Galaxy S20, Note 20, Fold 2 and Z Flip. For the unaware, the One UI 3.1 from Samsung is based on Android 11. The surprising thing is no one thought that Samsung would roll the One UI 3.1 update this fast for several devices. But the update will be rolled out in a phased manner which means only a handful of the above-mentioned devices will get the update first. If there are no bugs and the update performs well, Samsung will roll it out to more devices – more on the story ahead.

Samsung One UI 3.1 Update Details

The One UI 3.1 update will be rolled out to those devices which have already picked up the One UI 3.0 based on Android 11. The company has said that it will be rolling out the update specifically for the 'Galaxy S20', 'Galaxy Note 20', 'Galaxy Fold 2', and 'Galaxy Z Flip' initially.

But the company will also roll it out to these devices soon – Galaxy S10, Note 10, Fold, A71, A51, A90, A80, A70, and A50, depending on the region they are in. The One UI 3.1 first came out with the Samsung Galaxy S21 series in January.

Visually, there are no major differences between the One UI 3 and One UI 3.1. The difference lies in the additional features that the One UI 3.1 comes with. The latest update will equip the Samsung devices with capabilities of capturing and editing pictures on the go and introduce better productivity tools for improving the everyday life of the users.

To check if you have received the update manually, go to 'Settings' on your Samsung device, then tap on 'Software Update', and if there are any pending updates, you can tap on 'Download and install' button. If there is no update, you can wait since it is a phased rollout.

‘Sandes’, the Indian Government’s Alternative to WhatsApp is Here

sandes-indian-governments-alternative-whatsapp

The National Informatics Centre (IMC) has launched the 'Sandes' app, an instant messaging platform dubbed to be the alternative for WhatsApp. At present, the state and centre officials are using 'Government Instant Messaging System' (GIMS) for communicating in a safe environment. But now they can upgrade to the 'Sandes' app which is also available for other individuals in India to download. To sign-up, users have to provide their 'phone number' or 'email ID'. 'Sandes' will allow users to send individuals private messages as well as create groups and send messages to several people on the go.

How to Download Sandes?

The good thing is, 'Sandes' is available for both iOS and Android users. For the Android devices, the Android version should be 5.0 or above, and for iOS devices, it should be iOS 12 or above. Users can download it in an APK file through the official GIMS portal of the government. The app is not available in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store right now.

Once downloaded, users just need to sign-up with their mobile number or email ID upon which they will get a six-digit OTP to authenticate the process. There are several features similar to that of WhatsApp in the 'Sandes' app.

But one feature that many users would appreciate is getting the option of signing-up with 'email ID' and not mandatorily through their 'mobile numbers' as in the case of WhatsApp. The 'Sandes' app will also allow users to backup their chat in their 'preferred' external location including email ID, unlike WhatsApp which either lets you backup in Google Drive (Android) or iCloud (Apple).

However, once signed-up with a particular phone number or email ID, the user won't be able to change it. This is where WhatsApp is slightly ahead of 'Sandes' since it allows users to change their mobile numbers without deleting their account.

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) has extended the availability of seven prepaid plans by another 90 days. The plans in question are STV 153, STV 196, STV 259, STV 329, STV 399, STV 409 and PV 1499. These are MTNL’s daily data prepaid plans with validity ranging from 28 days to 365 days. The PV 1499 seems to be the best-prepaid plan available from any telecom operator right now because it offers 2GB daily data for one year. The Rs 1,499 prepaid plans from private telcos Airtel and Vodafone Idea offers just 24GB of data benefit, whereas MTNL is providing 730GB of data. The STV 409 from MTNL comes with 3GB data per day, whereas the STV 153 offers 1GB data per day for 28 days.

MTNL Extends Availability of 7 Prepaid Plans

MTNL, on its website, confirmed that the STV 153, STV 196, STV 329, STV 399 and PV 1499 would be available for recharge till May 13, 2021, whereas the STV 259 and STV 409 can be recharged till May 17, 2021. Moving onto the benefits, all these plans ship with unlimited voice calling benefit along with 100 SMSes per day, and the only difference is data benefit and validity of the plans.

The STV 153 and STV 196 plans come with 1GB and 1.5GB data per day, and 28 days validity. The STV 259 offers a user 2GB data per day for 35 days, followed by STV 329 with the same 2GB daily data for 45 days.

The STV 399 offers just 500MB of data per day for 28 days, but it makes up for the lower data benefit with truly unlimited voice calling to any network from home & national roaming network.

The STV 409 offers a user 3GB data per day for 84 days, and lastly, the PV 1499 comes with 2GB data per day for 365 days.

As noted, all the prepaid plans come with unlimited calling benefit. MTNL says the benefit of free calling and SMS will be available from the home network and MTNL Delhi network. During roaming other than MTNL Delhi, standard roaming charges will be applicable. The STV 399 is an exception because it offers unlimited calling anywhere within India.
