| Jio, Airtel and Vi Witness Higher AGR in the December Quarter Posted: 27 Apr 2021 11:25 AM PDT
The Q3 of FY2020-21 was good for the telecom industry. All the private operators of the country, including Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi), saw higher adjusted gross revenue (AGR) quarter-on-quarter (QoQ). As per the data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai), the private operators of India saw sequential AGR gains during the December quarter. To be precise, the overall telecom industry witnessed an AGR growth of 4.19% at Rs 47,623 crore. More AGR means more money the telecom department and the government will mop up in the form of License Fee (LF) dues and Spectrum Usage Charges (SUC). What Does The Data Suggest? The latest data put out by TRAI on Tuesday indicated that the telecom sector saw sequential growth of around 4.2% in AGR during Q3 FY21. The revenue growth has been fueled by customer additions, higher recharge volumes and data consumption growth post lockdown curbs and a bit during the easing of the lockdown as well. The data also indicates that all three big telcos of India, namely Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Reliance Jio, got sequential AGR gains during Q3 FY21. In terms of numbers, Reliance Jio's AGR increased by 7.96% on-quarter to reach Rs 17,181.65 crore for the October-December period. In contrast, Bharti Airtel's AGR grew 5.34% to reach Rs 11,340.19 crore. Vi’s quarterly AGR also saw decent gains at 2.37% on-quarter to Rs 6,588.46 crore, as per the TRAI data. This has affected the telecom industry's AGR in a positive way, with a rise of 4.19% on-quarter to reach Rs 47,623 crore in the fiscal third quarter. For those of you wondering what a higher AGR means, the effects of this are quite significant as it has translated into increased LF as well as SUC collections by the DoT. The license fee climbed 4.19% to Rs 3,809 crore, whilst SUC collections rose nearly 6% on-quarter to reach Rs 1,538 crore. This is a result of telcos annually paying 8% of their AGR in the form of licence fees and 3-5% as SUC to the government. In addition to all of this, the report of the third quarter also showcased monthly average revenue per user (ARPU) from wireless services increased 4.93% on-quarter to reach Rs 101.65, due to an increase in the overall volume of mobile recharges post easing of lockdown curbs. |
| Sun Valley OS for Windows 10 to Offer Floating Taskbar Posted: 27 Apr 2021 08:40 AM PDT
People have been waiting for quite some time when it comes to Windows next biggest update, currently being called Sun Valley. In regards to this, one can see lots of rumours and leaks originating about this. The changes that have been talked about have usually been based on design mockups and illustrations, but it seems one of the features has now started debuting on the latest build of windows. The feature, in particular, is floating menus. This will come after a time the new macOS build of Big Sur has become rather common, seemingly pushing Windows to bring some changes to its rather bland design. That being said, let us discuss everything to expect from the update that is Sun Valley. What Can We Expect From The Update?![]() According to a tweet by a developer on social media platform Twitter (via Beta News), the new floating menu can be seen within taskbar jumplists, which is usually seen when the user right-clicks on the apps present in the taskbar at the bottom. As per the report, however, the floating menu feature should also be coming to the main Start Menu and certain other areas. The report also mentions that while this design element is visible in the latest Windows 10 build, not every user will be able to see it as it needs Visual Studio. The flag is as follows: JumpListRestyledAcrylic present in ShellExperienceHost.exe. One needs to toggle this to see the new feature. This update is scheduled to come in the second half of the year, with the codename Sun Valley being temporary. The update is expected to bring UI changes to the icons, such as rounding off corners for buttons and other features like Action Center and Start. There will also be some changes to older legacy interfaces such as File Properties, copy dialogs and File explorer so as to maintain a balance with the newer UI. According to an older report released by Windows Central, users will also be able to switch between the new Start menu design and the current design by the use of a simple toggle, with some new animations expected as well. Certain other additions will include a newer battery usage chart and a new 'News and Interests' widget for the taskbar. |
| Apple M2 Chip Under Mass Production For Rumoured MacBook Pros Posted: 27 Apr 2021 08:10 AM PDT
Apple recently launched the refreshed iPad Pro and the new iMac sporting the M1 chipset. When we take a look at the past, one can see a major difference in performance in comparison to the previous intel chips. It seems, however, that whilst all this was going on in the front, things behind the curtains are heating up, as it seems Apple has started working on the second generation of the M1 chip, which as of now seems to be dubbed M2. How Do We Know About The M2?You might be wondering about how we are talking about the M2 when the M1 has just been equally distributed in the company's portfolio. Well, according to a report by Nikkei Asia, the M2 chips have gone into production earlier this month. Additional information mentions that the processor will take around three months to get produced, with shippings rumoured to commence from July alongside the new MacBook lineup.
As for the M2 chip itself, it is being produced by TSMC, the manufacturer that has previously been responsible for working on the M1 chip. One would assume that this chip would make use of the same 5nm process. This might beg the question of how much of a difference the chip might offer in contrast to the M1, which during its debut seemingly obliterated its predecessor from intel. For those of you unaware, the M1 chip features an 8-core CPU with up to an 8-core GPU as well as a 16-core Neural Engine paired with a unified memory architecture. During the launch, Apple also mentioned the details regarding the performance. As per Apple, the M1 chip offered 3.5x faster system performance, up to 15x faster machine learning (ML), up to 6x faster graphics performance and 2x longer battery performance when compared to the intel chipsets. Do not expect the M2 to be available just yet, since it is rumoured that more devices are supposed to receive the M1 chip prior to the M2 chip, which will probably be provided for the higher-end variants. This is evident from Apple's two-year mission to replace intel chips. When it comes to which device might sport the M2 chip, Apple might launch the chip with the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, both sporting a newer form factor as well as redesigned 27-inch iMac and a smaller Mac Pro. |

| Apple iMac 2021: Everything You Should Know Posted: 27 Apr 2021 03:16 AM PDT
Apple's Spring event was one full of fanfare and attention that every brand would envy. The Cupertino based tech giant introduced a new purple hue for the iPhone 12 and 12 Mini, the new iPad Pro and the company's latest accessory, the AirTags. In the middle of all this, however, we saw a product that is one of high stature in the coveted Apple ecosystem – the iMac, which received a well-deserved upgrade. On the surface of this, one would be forgiven for thinking there was not much different. So, is the iMac 2021 nothing but a fresh design and a few coats of paint, or is there more to it than meets the eye? Read ahead to find out. Apple iMac 2021: Upgrades Galore?
One might think that the iMac 2021 offers nothing new to the table apart from a quirky looking bezel for the display and a fresh coat of paint, but in reality, there are a lot of new changes made to the iMac 2021. These updates are quite major, most of them impacting the way the user engages with the iMac. Key areas that are affected include media consumption, performance and overall usability. Without any further discussion, let us dive deeper into what sets the iMac 2021 apart and how it differs from its 2020 Intel version. 1. Performance: Another Addition To The M1 Family
Apple first launched its homemade desktop and laptop CPU, the M1 chip inside the Mac Mini and MacBooks, in 2020, but it was only a matter of time before they arrived for the entire Mac family. It seems Apple finally decided that the time has come to unite the entire Mac family in terms of performance, with the 2021 24-inch iMac boasting the ARM-based processor offering faster speeds than its intel predecessor while also producing less heat and requiring less cooling. All of this also had an impact on the design, which will be discussed in the latter half of the article. Coming back to the chip, the thermal system has been replaced by two tiny fans. All of this, according to Apple, accounts for up to an 85% increase when it comes to CPU speeds. The SoC layout of the M1 chip also means that the chip offers graphics acceleration, hinting towards boosted power for the GPU. As per Apple, the GPU performance will increase by 50-200% depending on the scenario and application in use. Everything is not as shiny as it seems, however, since the M1 has minor implications with support, wherein non-native M1 applications might act up. This is not a common occurrence, but one that ought to be mentioned nonetheless. 2. Display: New Size and Controversial Bezels
The display is another area where the iMac brings with it some fairly major changes. For starters, the display is 24.5-inches in size, placing the new iMac in between the sizes of the previous two models. As for the specification side of things, the new iMac sports a 4.5K Retina display (4480×2520 pixels) in comparison to the older model's 5K display. The peak brightness remains the same at 500 nits, so the display tech is essentially the same. Another key change is the form factor, which shows that a bigger screen has been fit into a smaller chassis owing to slimmer bezels. The iMacs of the past have usually featured thick, bold bezels, whilst in this model, the bezels have been trimmed and are white in colour, providing a stylish yet slightly controversial look. The final display related upgrade is technically not associated with the display; rather, it is located on the top bezel. This is the new 1080p webcam which boasts of a larger sensor and support for FaceTime. The 2021 model is capable of offering superior picture quality during a global pandemic, where video calls have become the new normal. Add to this the M1 chip, which works with a software suite built within to provide sharper details. 3. Degraded Accessibility: Fewer Ports
A key aspect of a personal computer is accessibility when it comes to connectivity, something that is by some margin dependent on the availability of ports. For the new iMac 2021, Apple has chosen to provide two USB Type-C ports with support for Thunderbolt 3 (Base variant). In comparison, the higher $1,499 variant includes two additional USB-Type C ports (these two lack Thunderbolt support) as well as an Ethernet-abiding power adapter. There is also a headphone jack, but due to the slim chassis, it is located to the left of the body. This is a bit of a downgrade in comparison to the iMac 2020, which offered two USB-C ports, four USB-A ports, an Ethernet jack and an SD card slot. It seems Apple wishes for its users to focus on USB-C peripherals, as is evident by the focus on USB-C rather than USB-A. The headphone jack was earlier located towards the rear. For content based creators, it seems that they might have to go with a dock, given that they actually require multiple accessories that might not be USB-C compatible. As for Apple's own offerings, the company promises colour matched keyboards and wireless mice for the new iMac. The keyboard is a very useful accessory since it brings a feature that has been absent from the previous mac. This feature is the inclusion of Touch ID, which offers ease of signing in and enhanced security. 4. New Design: An Artist's Dream
The biggest change for the new iMac, which has also been the centre of the immense debate, is the design itself. One does not need to look at more than the launch event to notice the most obvious change to the new iMacs. Not only do the products offer a slimmer chassis which would confuse one as to how the iMac could be so slim, but they are also complemented with a host of colours that surpass the plain old silver of the past. Taking one look at the new iMac will send one to a trip down memory lane, back to the time of the old, translucent tinted plastic iMac with a squat CRT-based design.
One would be apt to describe it as a modern take on the older iMac, with a slimmer design, which in a way pays homage to the iMac of the olden days. As mentioned earlier, to compliment this new design, Apple will be shipping colour-matched accessories so that every aspect appears to be in sync. Also, the power cable is now magnetic and is six feet long. In terms of the colours on offer, users can choose from green, yellow, red, orange, purple, pink, blue and classic silver. Overall, the design is merely 0.45-inches thick, appearing wafer-like from the side profile. Whilst the older mac was by no means a thick computer, the 2021 version takes things to another level, as, according to Apple, the volume decrease is rated at a whopping 50%. |
| 5G Is the Top Priority of 80% Indian Enterprises Posted: 27 Apr 2021 01:55 AM PDT
The next-generation connectivity technology, 5G, is what 80% of Indian enterprises have kept on their priorities list. The data comes from Deloitte India, which surveyed 437 IT Line-of-Business (LoB) executives from nine different countries, out of which 51 subjects were from India. The study was carried out during the Q4 of 2020. According to the results of the survey, over 80% of Indian enterprises have kept 5G at the top of their priorities list, and over 73% of enterprises believe that Wi-Fi 6 is equally important. 55% of the subjects in the study chose Wi-Fi 6 for providing indoor connectivity, while 53% of subjects preferred 5G for outdoor connectivity. Licensing 5G Spectrum From Telcos is What Indian Enterprises WantThe study revealed that 32% of the Indian enterprises would look for setting up their private 5G networks by licensing spectrum from the telecom operators. Further, 20% of subjects were even ready for spectrum sharing if they would receive dedicated rights. The Indian enterprises are ready to take a slice of the private 5G network from the operators instead of going for the private 5G completely. This means that the government is likely to avail both the private 5G and private 5G slice options to the enterprises. This shows the disinterest of the Indian enterprises in purchasing the spectrum directly from the government. However, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) hasn't even announced the roadmap for 5G in India. So these decisions taken by the executives during the survey can very well change in the near future. For now, the DoT has said that spectrum in the mid-band (3.3 GHz – 3.6 GHz) will be used for 5G in India. The operators want the telecom department to update the National Frequency Allocation Plan (NFAP) of India and avail frequencies in more bands for an affordable 5G rollout. Further, the DoT is yet to decide how much portion of the 5G spectrum will be reserved for the enterprises to roll out private 5G. The 5G spectrum auctions could take place during the third quarter of FY2021-22 (October to December 2021) or the last/fourth quarter of FY2021-22 (January to March 2022). The DoT is expected to announce an updated NFAP soon. |
| Vodafone Idea, Jio and Airtel Ready to Provide Seamless Connectivity Posted: 27 Apr 2021 01:00 AM PDT
Top telecom operators of India, including Vodafone Idea (Vi), Bharti Airtel, and Reliance Jio, are ready to provide seamless connectivity to users during the pandemic. Since most companies and employees are opting for remote working, the need for high-end connectivity has increased. As per an ET Telecom report, the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), Director General, SP Kocchar, said that telcos have spent around Rs 9,000 crores in the last year for laying optic fibre cable and deploying new telecom sites. Kocchar said that operators are completely geared up and ready to provide users with what they need. The New Spectrum Will Come Into Play NowA few days back, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had assigned the new spectrum to the telcos which they purchased on the spectrum auctions held on March 1 and March 2, 2021. The telecom department assigned a total of 855.60 MHz of spectrum across various frequency bands, including the 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, and 2300 MHz bands. DoT assigned the new spectrum to the telcos via frequency harmonisation exercise. The new airwaves were added in the spectrum blocks already held by the telcos for ensuring efficient use of the spectrum. The mobile networks saw up to a 33% surge in data consumption since the time pandemic came to India. To meet up with this increased data demand, the telecom operators will be utilising the additional airwaves they purchased in the auctions. According to the Tower and Infrastructure Providers Association (TAIPA), the operators have added over 69,448 new mobile towers between the February 2020 and April 21, 2021 period. Things don't look to be easing down anytime soon. Thus, a few days back, the TAIPA had urged the telecom department for directing the concerned ministries and the telecom regulator to allow free movement of engineers and field staff that need to go and do a routine check-up on the network sites. If the routine check-up and maintenance of the telecom sites is not ensured, it could lead to interrupted network services, which won't be a good thing for the Indian economy at the moment and the users in the affected area. Only time will tell if the mobile networks of Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea can handle the pressure of the increased data demands. |

Thus we don’t expect the Itel Vision 2 to be a big hit in the Indian market. |
| Huawei and China to Launch Satellites In July for 6G Development Posted: 26 Apr 2021 10:00 PM PDT
The development of the 5G network has gained momentum around the globe. Nearly all nations are heavily investing in the 5G networks to offer high-speed internet connection to users. However, Chinese telecom gear maker Huawei is setting the bar high for the industry and working on the next-generation technology, which is 6G. Some days back, we reported that Huawei is gearing up to launch the 6G network in China by the end of 2030. Now new reports coming from China, citing Chang'an Shumajun as the source, reveals that Huawei is prepared to launch two satellites together with two Chinese companies in July 2021. The development aims to verify the 6G network technologies that the company is eyeing for the next revolution in the industry. Huawei Will Have Major Lead in R&D for the 6G TechnologyAs the satellites will launch in July month, Huawei will have a major lead in the Research and Development globally for the 6G technology. As reported by Gizmochina, the launch will be a joint effort from Huawei, China Mobile and a national space firm. The launch will hold prime importance for the core technologies of China, such as networking and switching. As marked by several experts, 6G will be the next big thing in the industry, and it will be 50 times faster than the 5G network. The current 5G network that is being capitalised by nations around the globe rely on base stations to transmit signals. However, 6G network technology will use satellites for communications instead of base stations where there will be low penetrability. Huawei Will Release White Paper to Explain the 6G TechnologyIt is speculated that 6G technology will take over the 5G network. But since the development has not been initiated, it is difficult to understand the core information related to 6G. In order to aware the users, Xu Zhjun, Chairman of Huawei, said that the company will release a 6G-related white paper soon to explain the upcoming 6G technology. China has embraced the 5G technology completely, is likely to have early access to the 6G as well. Even though there are multiple hindrances, China and Huawei are slowly making the process to make 6G a reality for the world. |
| Mi 11X Pro vs iQOO 7 Legend: Two Very Competitive Smartphones Posted: 26 Apr 2021 09:06 PM PDT
Just yesterday, iQOO launched the iQOO7 series in India. The company went ahead and delivered most of the things with the devices that users expected it to. The premium model in the series, 'iQOO 7 Legend', is powered by the Qualcomm flagship SoC and comes with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It is priced at Rs 43,990 for the same. A few days back, on April 23, Xiaomi launched the Mi 11X Pro with 8GB+256GB for 41,999 in India. The Mi 11X Pro comes with an impressive set of specifications running on the MIUI 12 based on Android 11 out of the box. Since the pricing of both the devices is very close, it is worth checking out which device outperforms the other. Mi 11X Pro vs iQOO 7 Legend: Design and Body
The Mi 11X Pro is available in three different colours – Cosmic Black, Lunar White, and Celestial Silver. It has a very clean look and comes with a slightly glossy rear body. The device has a flat-edge display with a punch-hole cutout at the center on the top housing the selfie sensor. Its camera bump at the rear is very subtle and won't cause any issues when placed at the table. There is Xiaomi branding at the bottom left on the rear of the device. The Mi 11X Pro is 163.7mm long, 76.4mm wide, and 7.8mm thick. It weighs 196 grams, so while it is not too light, it is not very heavy as well.
The iQOO 7 Legend, on the other hand, comes in a single 'Legend' colour variant only which depicts the BMW Motorsport's symbolic logo. Even the iQOO 7 Legend doesn't have a very big camera bump at the rear, which makes placing the device on hard surfaces such as tables a safe experience. It has a very slightly curved display that too houses the selfie sensor on the punch-hole cutout at the center on the top. The iQOO 7 Legend is 162.2mm long, 75.8mm wide, 8.7mm thick and weighs 209.7 grams. So the iQOO 7 Legend is a little short; has a little less wide body; is thicker and heavier than the Mi 11X Pro. Mi 11X Pro vs iQOO 7 Legend: Display
The Mi 11X Pro comes with a 6.67-inch FHD+ (2400×1080 pixels) AMOLED DotDisplay with an aspect ratio of 20:9 and contrast ratio of 50,00,000:1. The device comes with support for maximum brightness of up to 1,300nits, 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch-sampling rate, HDR10+, Sunlight display 3.0, and further has a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 covering at the top for protection. The iQOO 7 Legend comes with a shorter 6.62-inch FHD+ (2400×1080) AMOLED display with support for 120Hz refresh rate, an aspect ratio of 20:9, HDR10+ and a maximum brightness of up to 1300nits. Mi 11X Pro vs iQOO 7 Legend: Performance
The Mi 11X Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC coupled with up to 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. The device comes with a thermal system that will enable the device to perform long hours without getting overheated. It comes running on MIUI 12 based on Android 11 out of the box. The company has said that the Mi 11X Pro will soon receive the MIUI 12.5 update. At the same time, the iQOO 7 Legend comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC as well. The device boasts of achieving one of the highest AnTuTu scores beating the likes of the OnePlus 9 Pro and Asus ROG Phone 5. The iQOO 7 Legend comes with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It runs on Funtouch OS 11.1 based on Android 11. Even the iQOO 7 Legend comes with a thermal system inside to enable long and heavy gaming sessions for the users. Mi 11X Pro vs iQOO 7 Legend: ConnectivityThe Mi 11X Pro can support 5G, 4G, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6 and comes with a USB Type-C port. The iQOO 7 Legend can also support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and comes with a USB Type-C port. Both the devices can support several network bands mentioned below. Further, both the devices come with dual-SIM slots. Mi 11X Pro network bands – 5G: sub 6G: n77/n78; 4G: LTE FDD: B1/3/5/7/8; 4G: LTE TDD: B38/40/41; 3G: WCDMA: B1/2/5/8; and 2G: GSM: 850/900/1800/1900MHz. iQOO 7 Legend network bands – 5G: SA: n1/n3/n28/n41/n78; 5G: NSA: n41/n78; 4G: LTE FDD: B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B12/B17/B18/B19/B20/B25/B26/B28; 4G: LTE TDD: B34/B38/B39/B40/B41; 3G WCDMA: B1/B2/B4/B5/B8; 2G GSM: B2/3/5/8. Mi 11X Pro vs iQOO 7 Legend: BatteryThe Mi 11X Pro packs a 4,520mAh battery with support for 33W fast-charging. Users get the 33W charger with the device inside the box. At the same time, the iQOO 7 Legend packs a slightly smaller battery of 4,000mAh but supports 66W FlashCharge technology for enabling fast charging. So the charging experience with the iQOO 7 Legend will be two times faster than with the Mi 11X Pro. Mi 11X Pro vs iQOO 7 Legend: Camera
The Mi 11X Pro comes with a triple-camera setup at the rear, where the primary sensor is a 108MP lens paired with an 8MP ultra-wide angle sensor and a 5MP telemacro sensor. The rear camera of the device comes with support for AI Camera 6.0 and Night Mode 2.0 for both the primary and the ultra-wide-angle sensor. It can support video recording in the maximum resolution of 8K at 30fps. For selfies, there is a 20MP sensor at the front.
The iQOO 7 Legend comes with a triple-camera setup at the rear as well. The primary sensor at the back is a 48MP lens paired with a 13MP portrait sensor with 2X optical zoom support and another 13MP wide-angle/macro sensor. At the front, there is a 16MP sensor for clicking selfies. Mi 11X Pro vs iQOO 7 Legend: Price and ConclusionThe Mi 11X Pro is slightly ahead of the iQOO 7 Legend in particular areas such as design, camera, and display. At the same time, the iQOO 7 Legend is ahead of the Mi 11X Pro in performance, battery, and connectivity. The iQOO 7 Legend offers 12GB of RAM to the users for almost the same price as that of Mi 11X Pro's top model, which only offers 8GB of RAM. Even though the iQOO 7 Legend has a smaller body and is a little heavier, its BMW Motorsport logo makes it look very cool. We can expect gamers to go for the iQOO 7 Legend because of better performance and 67W fast-charging. But for users who would prefer the MIUI 12 (and the upcoming MIUI 12.5) over the Funtouch OS 11.1 would go for the Mi 11X Pro. The Mi 11X Pro's top model is available at Rs 41,999, offering 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. While the iQOO 7 Legend's top model is slightly more expensive, priced at Rs 43,990 for its 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. Both the devices have some pros and some cons. At the end of the day, it would totally depend on the user and his/her needs to select a device out of these two. We would go for the iQOO 7 Legend as of now because of the powerful performance. |
| Reliance Jio or Bharti Airtel, Who Offers Better Low-Cost Plans? Posted: 26 Apr 2021 06:28 PM PDT
Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel are the two top telecom operators of India. Both the companies want to add more and more subscribers and gain a bigger market share than their competition. In order to do so, both Jio and Airtel offer users low-cost prepaid plans. From low-cost prepaid plans, we mean entry-level plans or plans below Rs 200. Jio provides 2 prepaid plans under Rs 200. The two plans come for Rs 149 and Rs 199 each, respectively. On the other hand, Airtel offers users multiple plans under Rs 200. These plans range from Rs 19 to Rs 199. We will be analysing these plans so that we can decide which company's low-cost offerings are better. Reliance Jio Low-Cost Prepaid PlansStarting with Reliance Jio, as mentioned above, the company offers only two plans in the low-cost category. The first plan is for Rs 149. This plan ships with unlimited voice calling, 1GB daily data, 100 SMS/day for a total of 24 days. The Rs 199 plan comes with 1.5GB daily data for 28 days. This plan also offers unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS/day to the users. Further, both the plans include a complimentary subscription to all the Jio apps (JioTV, JioSecurity, JioCinema, JioNews, and JioCloud). That's pretty much it from Reliance Jio. Bharti Airtel Low-Cost Prepaid PlansWith Bharti Airtel, it is a different case altogether. Users looking for low-cost prepaid plans will get several options. All the prepaid plans from Airtel that come for less than Rs 200 cost Rs 19, Rs 129, Rs 149, Rs 179, and Rs 199. The cheapest plan that costs Rs 19 comes with 200MB data for 2 days. Users further get unlimited voice calling with this plan. There are no Airtel Thanks benefits as well as SMS benefits included. Moving on to the Rs 129 plan, it comes for 24 days and offers 1GB total data to the users. Other benefits of the plan include unlimited voice calling and a total of 300 SMS. Then the Rs 149 plan from the telco offers 2GB total data, unlimited voice calling, and 300 SMS in total for 28 days. There is only one difference between the benefits of the Rs 149 and Rs 179 plan of the telco. That difference is that the Rs 179 plan comes with Rs 2 lakh insurance offer from Bharti Axa Life Insurance. Lastly, the Rs 199 plan from the telco offers users 1GB daily data, unlimited voice calling, and 100 SMS/day for 24 days only. Note that all of the Airtel plans mentioned above (excluding the Rs 19 plan) come with Airtel Thanks benefits and a free 1-month trial of the Amazon Prime Video Mobile Edition. So Which Telco Offers Better Low-Cost Plans?
The telco that offers better low-cost prepaid plans is Jio. But this conclusion is subjective in terms of users looking for prepaid plans with significant data benefits. If the user wanted 1GB daily data with unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS/day, he/she could get it for Rs 149 with Jio. Airtel offers the same plan for Rs 199, which is comparatively very expensive. For Rs 199, Jio offers users 1.5GB daily data for 28 days along with unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS/day. In addition to that, since most of the people living in remote or rural parts of India would want to go for these low-cost prepaid plans, Jio automatically becomes a better option. This is because the telco offers better coverage than Airtel and again would allow them to consume more data. So we believe that Jio's low-cost prepaid plans are much better than what Airtel offers. |
