| Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G vs OnePlus 9: Every Difference That Matters Posted: 06 Apr 2021 08:30 AM PDT
Samsung, the South Korean tech giant, launched the Galaxy S20 FE 5G in India back in March. The company has already launched the 4G edition of the smartphone in India, but the 5G variant comes with all the new upgrades. The company has launched the handset in India at a price point of Rs 55,999. At this price range, OnePlus also offers its latest OnePlus 9 phone. The competition between both handsets has become the reason for a lot of arguments. To make it slightly easier for you we bring you the on-papers comparison between the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G and OnePlus 9 and see which one outperforms the other. Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G vs OnePlus 9: PriceThe Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G in India is priced at Rs 55,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The company is offering the smartphone with an introductory price of Rs 47,999. You can avail the introductory offer on Samsung.com, Amazon India and offline Samsung Exclusive Stores. OnePlus 9 on the other hand, is available starting at Rs 49,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The top-end model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is up for grabs at Rs 54,999. Considering the price segment it seems that the Galaxy S20 FE 5G will be much lighter in your pocket if you buy it at the introductory price. Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G vs OnePlus 9: DisplayThe recently launched Galaxy S20 FE 5G flaunts a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED full HD+ display. It comes with a 120Hz high refresh rate and HDR10+ support. The display panel also comes with a centred drilled punch-hole cutout design, that accommodates the front camera sensor. It has 800 nits of peak brightness which seems to be slightly faded in front of OnePlus 9's 1100 nits peak brightness Fluid AMOLED display. Certainly in this category, the OnePlus 9 outperforms the Galaxy S20 FE 5G with a few points. Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G vs OnePlus 9: PerformanceUnder the hood, the Galaxy S20 FE 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset clubbed with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and as the name suggests it comes with 5G connectivity support. The company also provides an option of upgrading the storage via a microSD card. While the OnePlus 9 is powered by the latest octa-core Snapdragon 888 chipset, paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. Besides, the hardware also includes the multi-layered cooling system called OnePlus Cool Play. It's quite clear that the OnePlus 9 once again takes a step up and outperformed the competitor. Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G vs OnePlus 9: CameraOn the optical front, the Galaxy S20 FE 5G offers a rectangular-shaped triple rear camera setup placed at the top left corner of the rear panel. The camera module includes a 12MP primary camera sensor along with an 8MP telephoto lens with 3X optical zoom. The handset also has a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens with an LED flash. The primary camera and the telephoto units come with optical stabilization. The OnePlus 9 also houses a triple rear camera setup but it misses out on the telephoto sensor which might be disappointing for some buyers. While the camera module is a combination of a 48MP Sony IMX689 primary sensor with electronic image stabilisation (EIS). The rest of the camera sensors include a 50MP Sony IMX766 ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP monochrome sensor. Notably, the 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens seems weaker than the 50MP ultra-wide-angle sensor on the OnePlus 9. If you're ready to sacrifice on the telephoto sensor then OnePlus offers a better camera option with Hasselblad colour algorithms. But, if you are looking for a smartphone with an awesome telephoto lens then you have your answer already. Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G vs OnePlus 9: BatterySamsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G packs a 4,500mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging. While on the other hand, the OnePlus 9 also features the same 4,500mAh battery but it comes with 65W Warp Charge technology which is capable enough of juicing up the device from zero to hundred in 29 minutes. Fast charging support is a miss for the Galaxy S20 FE 5G but it does support 15W wireless charging and 4.5W reverse charging.

| BSNL 4G Requirements Can be Fulfilled by Mavenir With Indigenous Technology Posted: 06 Apr 2021 02:00 AM PDT
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is eyeing for a hybrid-4G deployment in India. The state-run telco has received the nod from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for the same. In a recent development, Mavenir India, a subsidiary of the US-based telecom giant, said that it can fulfil the demands of BSNL's 4G mentioned in the request for proposals (RFP). According to an ET Telecom report, Sanjay Bakaya, India head and regional Vice President for South Asia at Mavenir said that the company is ready with its fully compliant 4G core as per the demands mentioned in Expression of Interest (EoI) rolled out by BSNL earlier. Mavenir wants to dominate the telecom gear market of India with the cloud-native infrastructure. The company plans to incorporate indigenous technology for the same. Bakaya said that Mavenir is looking for an opportunity wherein it can showcase its indigenous technology to the telco. According to Bakaya, Mavenir wants to leverage this opportunity for disrupting the oligopoly telecom market of India. Mavenir India is Registered in India ItselfBakaya said that Mavenir complies with all the prerequisites made by BSNL in the EoI. He further said that Mavenir India is an Indian company registered and governed with the same local laws as applicable for any other local company. The company has shown interest in helping BSNL roll out the 4G network pan-India. BSNL will be reserving half of its sites, around 50,000 for the foreign vendors with proven technology and another 50,000 sites for the Indian vendors. The telco will allow Indian companies to participate in the rounds for foreign vendors if the Indian companies can generate Proof of Concept (PoC) on time. If things go on steady for BSNL from here, it will soon be able to operate 4G networks across India. The telco would also be able to upgrade its network to be 5G supportive with the help of appropriate hardware and software.

| Airtel, Vi and Jio Wants 5Gi to Support Global Standards by 3GPP Posted: 06 Apr 2021 12:02 AM PDT
India is towards 5G launch, and at a crucial time such as this, Vodafone Idea (Vi), Airtel, Jio and global telecom vendors such as Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia, and Samsung have said that India's 5G standards known as 5Gi should match the global standards set by the 3GPP. It will be important to set the tone of 5G's rollout and future in India. According to an ET Telecom report, the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) said that the issues regarding interoperability of the 5Gi are still there. No specific advantageous differentiation has been found for using the 5Gi standard against the 5G standard of 3GPP. A senior executive from the industry said that going with local 5G standards can prove to be very costly for the telcos and might result in a delayed nationwide 5G rollout. Jio Supports Local 5G Standards While Airtel Doesn'tMukesh Ambani, Chairman and MD of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) said that Jio supports the local 5G standards. However, he further said that the local standards should be flexible and adaptive to the globally set standards. Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman of Bharti Airtel said that India's local 5G standards will push it way behind other nations and keep it out of the global ecosystem. The Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India (TSDSI) said that 5Gi will prove to be a 'game changer' for the industry. However, the industry believes that the standards set by TSDSI aren't in line with what 3GPP has recommended and will prove to be very costly for the whole nation. TSDSI said that operators won't have to incur any extra cost since the changes will have to be made in the software domain and not at the hardware level. The 5Gi standard recommended by the TSDSI won't work with existing 4G networks. At the same time, it does not include any of the recommendations by the 3GPP.
| JioFiber is Offering Users Up to 30 Days Extra Validity on Long-Term Plans Posted: 05 Apr 2021 11:00 PM PDT
Reliance Jio's fiber broadband arm, JioFiber, is back with a new offer yet again. The company is offering its customers up to 30 days extra on their long-term broadband plans. JioFiber offers users options to choose from one-month plans to annual plans with different speed and benefits. Users who trust the telco's service and take its long-term plans can get an extra month of service for free. The extra validity benefit is applicable in every plan from the company. Take a look at the offer details ahead. JioFiber Extra Validity Offered to the Users With Long-Term PlansJioFiber users going for an annual plan can get 30 days of free service from the company. Further, users purchasing a semi-annual plan will be eligible to get 15 days of free service.
For annual plans, the benefit will be packed in a way like this – 360 days + 30 days free. For semi-annual plans, it will be like 180 days + 15 days. All the other benefits of the plans remain the same. This would bring the monthly cost of the plan down significantly. For example, users who opt for an annual 30 Mbps plan have to pay Rs 5,694 as a one-time payment. This would mean that the monthly cost that the user has to bear is Rs 474. But with this extra one month offered, the monthly cost of the plan drops to Rs 438. Note that all the prices mentioned above are after including taxes. The extra validity on long-term plans is just an extra cherry on top of the cake from JioFiber. The company hasn't shared any details on how long the benefit will stay, so grab your favourite plan with the benefit while you can. We expect the offer to most likely stay indefinitely for the long-term plans if Jio gets a good response to its latest move. However, is the extra validity enough to motivate someone to go for an annual plan or a semi-annual plan?

Under the hood, the Galaxy F12 is powered by the octa-core Exynos 850 Soc, paired with up to 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. At the same time, the other smartphone comes equipped with Snapdragon 662 and Snapdragon 678 chipset for the Redmi Note 10. Everything remains the same with this plan, as mentioned above, except the users only get one OTT benefit of Disney+ Hotstar VIP. On calculating, the users will have to pay a total of Rs 9,614 (inclusive of taxes) when they are going for a 12 months plan and Rs 5,111 (inclusive of taxes) when going for a 6 months plan. JioFiber 100 Mbps 'Turbo' Broadband PlanJioFiber is a company that needs no introduction. Users can get the JioFiber 100 Mbps plan for long-term validities as well. The annual plan costs Rs 9,897 (includes GST), and the semi-annual plan costs Rs 4,948 (includes GST). Users get unlimited data with a FUP limit of 3.3TB or 3,300GB of data. There are no OTT benefits included with this plan. JioFiber has also extended the benefits of its long-term plan to more days. However, there is a free fixed-line connection that will allow users to make unlimited voice calls, and then there is the benefit of Jio Set-Top Box. VerdictThe pricing of the 100 Mbps plans from both JioFiber and Nextra is nearly the same. Nextra is ahead of JioFiber in terms of OTT benefits only. In all the other aspects such as voice calling, Set-Top Box, and data, Jio is ahead of Nextra. So, in the end, it is really a matter of choice for the users. Since the pricing is the same and the benefits are slightly different, users can pick the one they want the most. In terms of getting customer support for the service, Jio might be able to beat Nextra with its huge team of people ready to serve people 24/7. |
