Jio Purchased Airtel’s Unutilised 800 Mhz Spectrum in Delhi, Mumbai and AP Posted: 06 Apr 2021 04:06 AM PDT Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd ("RJIL") announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement with Bharti Airtel Limited for the acquisition of the right to use spectrum in the 800MHz band in Andhra Pradesh, Delhi and Mumbai circles through spectrum trading. The trading agreement is in accordance with the Spectrum Trading Guidelines issued by the Department of Telecommunications and is subject to the requisite regulatory and statutory approvals. The aggregate value for the right to use this spectrum is Rs 1,497 crores, inclusive of the present value of associated deferred payment liability of Rs 459 crores, subject to any transaction related adjustments. Circle wise details of the traded spectrum: Circle 800 MHz band (FDD)  A.P 3.75  Delhi 1.25  Mumbai 2.50  Total 7.50 With this trading of right to use spectrum, RJIL will have 2X15MHz of spectrum in the 800MHz band in Mumbai circle and 2X10MHz of spectrum in the 800MHz band in Andhra Pradesh and Delhi circles, thereby further consolidating its spectrum footprint in these circles. With the enhanced spectrum footprint, especially contiguous spectrum, and superior infrastructure deployed, RJIL has further increased its network capacity. The transaction is subject to the requisite regulatory and statutory approvals. Through this agreement, Airtel will receive a consideration of Rs 1037.6 crores from Jio for the proposed transfer. In addition, Jio will assume future liabilities of Rs 459 crores relating to the spectrum. Gopal Vittal, MD & CEO (India and South Asia), Bharti Airtel said: "The sale of the 800 MHz blocks in these three circles has enabled us to unlock value from the spectrum that was unutilised. BSNL 4G Requirements Can be Fulfilled by Mavenir With Indigenous Technology Posted: 06 Apr 2021 02:00 AM PDT Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is eyeing for a hybrid-4G deployment in India. The state-run telco has received the nod from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for the same. In a recent development, Mavenir India, a subsidiary of the US-based telecom giant, said that it can fulfil the demands of BSNL's 4G mentioned in the request for proposals (RFP). According to an ET Telecom report, Sanjay Bakaya, India head and regional Vice President for South Asia at Mavenir said that the company is ready with its fully compliant 4G core as per the demands mentioned in Expression of Interest (EoI) rolled out by BSNL earlier. Mavenir wants to dominate the telecom gear market of India with the cloud-native infrastructure. The company plans to incorporate indigenous technology for the same. Bakaya said that Mavenir is looking for an opportunity wherein it can showcase its indigenous technology to the telco. According to Bakaya, Mavenir wants to leverage this opportunity for disrupting the oligopoly telecom market of India. Mavenir India is Registered in India Itself Bakaya said that Mavenir complies with all the prerequisites made by BSNL in the EoI. He further said that Mavenir India is an Indian company registered and governed with the same local laws as applicable for any other local company. The company has shown interest in helping BSNL roll out the 4G network pan-India. BSNL will be reserving half of its sites, around 50,000 for the foreign vendors with proven technology and another 50,000 sites for the Indian vendors. The telco will allow Indian companies to participate in the rounds for foreign vendors if the Indian companies can generate Proof of Concept (PoC) on time. If things go on steady for BSNL from here, it will soon be able to operate 4G networks across India. The telco would also be able to upgrade its network to be 5G supportive with the help of appropriate hardware and software.

The Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India (TSDSI) said that 5Gi will prove to be a 'game changer' for the industry. However, the industry believes that the standards set by TSDSI aren't in line with what 3GPP has recommended and will prove to be very costly for the whole nation. TSDSI said that operators won't have to incur any extra cost since the changes will have to be made in the software domain and not at the hardware level. The 5Gi standard recommended by the TSDSI won't work with existing 4G networks. At the same time, it does not include any of the recommendations by the 3GPP.

We have chosen the 'Turbo' plan from Nextra because it comes with OTT benefits, just like JioFiber's plan. Nextra 100 Mbps 'Turbo' Broadband Plan Nextra offers its 'Turbo' plan with 100 Mbps speed and OTT benefits to the users.
