Google Should Open an Indian Outlet of Its NYC Google Store

Posted: 17 Jun 2021 09:19 AM PDT

Google NYC store Indian outlet

In today’s day and age, the provision of good customer service and a presentable showcase of products is key, especially with more and more users becoming aware of their needs. In previous times, the user would usually rely on the on floor salesman to aid them, but, with increased information and general technological awareness, the need for aid has become increasingly scarce.

Most users opt these days to make their tech purchases via the internet, due to the provision of good deals via E-commerce sites such as Amazon, Flipkart and, at times the specific company’s own site. It seems that Google, the maker of Android has different plans, at least for the US as of now, with the opening of the Google Store NYC.

Do note that Google had opened the online version of its Google Store back in 2015, during a time when people were switching to the internet to make their tech purchases. Over the course of the last six years, the company has gone through to open pop-up shops across the world, but that has never resulted in a proper retail outlet.

Why Does the First Google Store Matter?

Google NYC Store 2

That has finally changed, since, starting 10 AM ET, June 17, Google has opened its first permanent store in the form of the Google Store NYC, which occupies the historic Chelsea Market building present in Manhattan, with the store offering all sorts of Google products. The shop will also showcase these products to offer users a chance at getting an in-hand experience.

Intentionally or by accident, the store seems to take a bit of the aesthetic from Apple Stores which are present across the world, but, with Google’s own flair with the ability to showcase how its products can enhance you, the user’s daily life.

To add to this, the Google Store will also have Googlers to help you with any sort of products and, more importantly, help you with the products that you already own.

Now, post-reading all this, you might be confused as to why this is worth noting in the context of the Indian market, but, considering as to how Google’s after-sales service and, to some extent, its overall product sales support is lacking, the launch of an authentic Google store would greatly help its cause for increased sales in a market that can be tapped.

Vodafone EVO Plans Focus on 5G and Flexibility for Users

Posted: 17 Jun 2021 07:48 AM PDT

Vodafone 5G EVO Plans

Vodafone 5G EVO Plans

Vodafone announced that it would be revamping its mobile plans as part of a new brand that will be called EVO. The company has mentioned that the plans under EVO will be focused on flexibility, with customers having the ability to trade their existing handset for discounts, the ability to pick different contract lengths and choose to upgrade the hardware under the contract.

The refreshed EVO plans will be launched later this month, with both new and existing customers receiving it, with Vodafone stating that in addition to the aforementioned flexibility they should be able to aid Vodafone users when it comes to saving their money.

Similar to O2’s new Refresh plans, the EVO plans split the user’s bill into two separate agreements, namely either a loan payment for the handset itself or a different contract for the Vodafone coverage. That will make it easier for the user to change their plan or keep the plan constant whilst changing the device.

What Do We Know About the EVO Plans

The range for the contracts is from 12 to 36 months, with users having the option to upgrade their phone post the initial 12 months. At that point or when the user wishes to start an EVO plan, they can use Vodafone's handset trade-in scheme to get money from their old phone. EVO customers will also be given access to Vodafone's VeryMe reward scheme along with roaming in 81 different countries.

Each phone will also get a two-year warranty and free battery replacements along with the option to use Unlimited Data Boosters that can give uncapped data for 30 days at a time, for six times during the contract. These plans will also be combined with the company’s Pro Broadband.

Do note that Vodafone has partnered with Saracens and Lions rugby star Maro Itoje in an initiative dubbed Buy One, Give One. For every Vodafone Together customer, Vodafone will be donating one SIM card to a person in need, complete with 20GB of monthly data plus calls & texts, through  Trussell Trust's food bank network, providing them with free internet access for up to a year.

Vodafone EVO and Together plans will be launched later this month via either Vodafone.co.uk or the company's 400+ physical stores. From the time of the launch, every phone sold by Vodafone will be on an EVO plan, though, it would still be possible to buy the older combined device & airtime plans via third-party stores such as Carphone Warehouse.

Xiaomi’s MIUI Pioneer Team Hints at a Brighter Future for the UI

In recent times, Xiaomi has been in the limelight for all the wrong reasons. The company has been taking a Huawei-esque route, which means that it is constantly innovating at a pace that is truly shocking. This is in terms of hardware and charging, two key aspects of a smartphone in 2021.

However, the one thing that can fully utilise these advancements is the software, an area where Xiaomi and its sub-brands have been struggling at. There are constant bugs and flaws with certain updates and, especially with the rollout of the company’s MIUI 12 update, most of its budget devices seemed to struggle with some flaws.

Add to this a bug that hit users in 2020 that effectively sent their device into boot loop mode when they tried to access the MyAirtel App on some devices, and the case for the company’s software seems to be falling apart. It seems however that Xiaomi has understood the need to make some changes and, to do so, it is soon going to launch its new initiative that will aim to offer improvements of its MIUI interface via the new MIUI Pioneer Team.

What Will the MIUI Pioneer Team Do?

The MIUI Pioneer Team will consist of members that are part of the company’s user community, as well as senior team members who will be responsible for seeing key aspects of the team. The aim of the initiative is to effectively garner user feedback by letting the members of the Xiaomi community talk more closely to company engineers and executives,.

To add to this, a report from Android Authority has claimed that the Pioneer Team will not be limited to China, given how Xiaomi has two different versions of its custom interface, one for China and one for global markets, inclusive of India. The initiative is actually good, considering how it will help the officials understand the key issues that a generic user might face and their point of view regarding some specific features.

Despite all of this, it is not yet clear how the company will choose the members who will be forming the MIUI Pioneer Team, given how the initiative is just inclusive to China as of now. The company is expected to announce the commencement of the service soon, or post updates regarding the same, which is going to be good to see.

The whole concept sounds like a good idea, considering how the company will basically gain direct feedback from the users about micro bugs that the company might overlook, or spend too much time fixing to no avail. With the initiative, at least from the perspective of an outsider, the company should be able to fix MIUI and make it more in tune with the user’s wants and needs.

5G Private Network to Be Deployed in Turkey by Arçelik Global

Arcelik Global 5G Network

Arcelik Global 5G Network

Turkey's first 5G private wireless network will be deployed in a joint effort by consumer durables and electronics manufacturer Arçelik along with Nokia and Turk Telekom. This development comes after Arçelik Global reportedly signed a strategic business agreement with Nokia and Turk Telekom for deploying the first of its kind technology in Turkey. The 5G-ready private wireless network will be deployed at a washing machine manufacturing facility based in Arçelik's Çayrova.

5G Private Network to Deliver Reliable Low Latency Coverage

The 5G ready network will leverage Nokia's technology to create a platform for Arçelik. The platform will accelerate Arçelik's digital transformation and deliver 4.0 use cases. Initially, an application will witness the network delivering pervasive, reliable low latency throughout the manufacturing facility.

The initial application will have the objective to enhance the performances of Automated Guided Vehicles. AGV's are used around the washing machine manufacturing facility for component logistics. The deployment of the 5G private wireless network will improve connectivity that would further enhance AGV speed, control and operational efficiency. The 5G private network will support high accuracy indoor positioning for real-time asset location tracking. It will also enable new video analytics-based applications for site safety and security.

Arçelik Global and Nokia Plan Further Collaborations to Explore New Use Cases

Nokia has agreed to provide solution design, deployment and ongoing managed services under the terms of the agreement. It will be delivering industrial-grade private wireless network infrastructure. The infrastructure will be based on the Nokia Digital Automation Cloud (DAC) platform, which is capable of providing reliable high bandwidth, low latency private network. On the other hand, Turk Telekom will be providing a 4.9G/LTE spectrum along with being responsible for the project's end to end management and governance model.

In the coming few months, Nokia and Arçelik Global have plans to collaborate further to develop and implement additional use cases of the network. A joint release dictated a few potential use cases that included augmented and virtual reality, digital twins, inventory control, safety, facility management, quality control, high-resolution video for remote inspection and facility-wide voice and video communication.

Reliance Communications Asks DoT to Renew Telecom License for 20 Years

Posted: 17 Jun 2021 05:59 AM PDT

RCom Telecom License

RCom Telecom License

To retain rights over the spectrum and keep the enterprise business alive, the bankrupt entity Reliance Communications (RCom) has requested the telecom department to renew its telecom license for a period of 20 years. In response, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has demanded the ownership details of Rcom. As reported by ET Telecom, Reliance Communications is managed by a resolution professional (RP) Deloitte as part of the bankruptcy process under the IBC. One of the officials who is aware of the information stated that the spectrum license of RCom would expire in July. The lenders of the entity who will come forward and accept the ownership will be liable to respond to queries revolving around the payment of statutory dues.

DoT Can Recover Dues by Allowing RCom to be a Licensed Entity

Even though Reliance Communications shut down its smartphone business back in 2017, the company is still running the business for enterprise customers. To date, RCom has not paid a single penny out of its Rs 26,000 crore AGR dues. There are multiple hurdles for the telecom department to recover their dues.

One of the major ways through which DoT can recover its dues is by allowing RCom to be a licensed entity. If DoT terminates the license of the company, it will lose the right to use over its residual spectrum. Further, if the spectrum will not be sold, the resolution process will break apart. Currently, RCom holds airwaves in the 850 MHz band in 14 telecom circles.

RCom has a Debt of More than Rs 46,000 Crore

While filing bankruptcy, RCom had a debt of more than Rs 46,000 crore from more than 54 creditors. The financial creditors such as foreign banks, local banks, non-banking finance companies and various funds have claimed nearly Rs 57,382 crore, out of which Rs 49,224 crore have been accepted by the resolution professional. It is expected that Reliance Infratel, the tower business of RCom, will be picked by Reliance Jio, which will not be hampered by the DoT decision. Another person who is aware of the matter stated that the tower business does not need the license as telco giant can least them out.

Vodafone Idea Becomes the First Operator to Bring Network Services Here

Posted: 17 Jun 2021 05:23 AM PDT

Vodafone Idea

Vodafone Idea

Vodafone Idea has just become the first telecom operator in the country to offer network services to Parapatta in Kozhikode. For the unaware, Kozhikode is a seaport in Kerala where there is a small village called Parapatta. Because schools are shut down and offline education isn't allowed, students need continuous access to mobile networks or broadband networks to stay connected with the internet so that their online education can proceed smoothly.

But that wasn't the case in Parapatta; a small village where neither of the telecom operators were providing services. In a release, Vodafone Idea said that it was moved by a video made by a small girl who was speaking on behalf of the 150 students staying in Parapatta and asking the local authorities to bring the people of the village access to network connectivity so that online classes for local children can continue.

Vodafone Idea Now Providing Telecom Services in Parapatta

Vodafone Idea has become the first telecom company amongst other operators including Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to offer services in Parapatta.

Vodafone Idea's telecom site that went live in the village today was commissioned by the hands of Kodenchery Grama Panchayat President, Mr Alex Thomas in the presence of several young students.

Now the students of the village won't have to worry about their online education anymore since they can leverage Vodafone Idea's strong 4G network with an impressive capacity for loading classes in high-definition (HD) quality so that they don't miss out on anything.

A few days back, it came to the surface that Vodafone Idea's 4G network was the fastest in Kerala. The telecom operator has over 1.6 crore customers in the state. With the mobile network of Vi, people living in Parapatta won't have to stay behind the world in terms of real-time updates, educations, and overall knowledge.

Vodafone Idea will be offering the same prepaid plans in the village as it does in all of India. This is a great move from the telco and one which not only the people of Parapatta, but the whole of India will appreciate. It is great to see Vi coming ahead and expanding business in the rural parts of the country where there is no network service available.

BSNL and Vodafone Idea Are Too Big to Go Away: Opinion

Posted: 17 Jun 2021 03:45 AM PDT

BSNL

BSNL

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Vodafone Idea (Vi) are two of the four telecom operators in India. Both the companies have a substantial number of subscribers in their portfolio. While one telco is struggling to roll out its 4G networks, the other is struggling to raise capital and expand the reach of its 4G networks.

There are many who believe that either of the telcos won't survive in the future. But that's not true. Neither of the companies is going to exit the market anytime soon; here's why.

BSNL 4G Will Could be a Super Hit

BSNL's 4G plans can be a super hit in the market. The 4G plans that the telco provides right now are very excellent in value and could beat offerings from Jio, Airtel, and Vi if they are supplemented with an even excellent 4G network.

BSNL only needs to do one thing, and that is time the market. It is undeniable that BSNL has already missed a big 4G window a few years back, but it still has the capacity to change its fortunes.

Further, the telco also has 5G to look up to. BSNL 4G would be excellent, but 5G would just be a game-changer. The state-run telco can initially invest in its 4G networks, and when the mmWave 5G is available in India in true capacity, it can bank on providing 5G services with superb 5G plans.

Vodafone Idea (Vi) 4G Networks Can Target Remote India

To truly get ahead of other telcos and come into a winning position, Vodafone Idea (Vi) can invest in increasing the reach of its networks. As per Opensignal, the telco had the worst network coverage amongst all the private operators in the country.

At the same time, the telco has been investing so much in its network capacity that, as per Ookla, it was the fastest 4G network provider in India for three consecutive quarters. If Vodafone Idea can rapidly expand the reach and coverage of its 4G network, the telco can achieve great milestones within a short span of time.

Why Either of the Telcos Are Too Big to Go Away?

It is one thing to share opinions on what these telcos can do in order to be successful again, but there's one thing that people need to understand; neither of these telcos can be out of the market. They are simply too big to fail.

A telecom operator is more than just its networks. It is a company built of hundreds of thousands of employees who are working to ensure that its services are always accessible by old and new customers any time of the day.

Further, if either of the telcos has to shut down the business, it would create chaos in the current telecom market structure. It would also result in the top two operators getting more powerful in a very short time which might result in more expensive plans for the customers since there would be less competition.

Lastly, the exit of any of the companies would hurt the Indian economy a lot. There will be a ton of people out of jobs. Then the companies have debt, partners, and more who will have to suffer as well.

Bharti Airtel Takes On Jio With Its New Rs 456 Prepaid Plan With No Daily Limit

Bharti Airtel

Bharti Airtel Rs 456 Prepaid Plan

Bharti Airtel isn't one to back down when it comes to competing with Reliance Jio and that's the reason why it has survived the lows in the market and became the second-largest telecom operator of India. The telco has just launched a new prepaid plan in line with the offerings that Reliance Jio announced last week. This plan also offers users data without any daily fair-usage-policy (FUP) restrictions.

Usually, whenever Airtel announces plans that compete directly with Jio in terms of benefits, they are priced significantly higher than Jio's plans. But in a surprising turn of events, this time, Airtel has priced its plan almost the same as what Jio is offering to its customers.

Bharti Airtel Rs 456 Prepaid Plan Details

Bharti Airtel has launched the Rs 456 plan for its users recently. The plan comes with 50GB of FUP data. This data can be used all in one go if the user wants to. There is no daily limit restriction. Further, it comes with a validity of complete 60 days (two months).

Users also get truly unlimited voice calling to any network within the country and 100 SMS/day for the entire validity of the plan. The company is also offering Airtel Thanks benefits including Airtel Xstream Premium, Free Hellotunes, Wynk Music, Shaw Academy for one year, Apollo 24/7 Circle, and Rs 100 FASTag cashback.

Further, users get one month free trial of the Amazon Prime Video Mobile Edition. The plan is now available for the users to purchase from both the website and the mobile app of the company.

Bharti Airtel Rs 456 Plan vs Reliance Jio Rs 447 Plan

The Rs 456 plan from Bharti Airtel is only Rs 9 more expensive than the Rs 447 plan from Reliance Jio. Even the Rs 447 plan from Jio comes with 50GB of data for 60 days with unlimited calling and 100 SMS/day. There are other benefits included such as JioCloud, JioCinema, JioSecurity, JioTV, and JioNews.

Since both the plans are priced so close, it will be interesting to see which one users would side with more. Airtel is expected to launch more such plans in the near future.

Dish Network to Anchorage Dell for 5G Network Infrastructure

American multinational giant Dish Network will leverage Dell Technologies Inc for crucial parts of the new 5G network, which is being built in the United States. The information was revealed back on Tuesday. As reported by Reuters, Dish is eyeing to cover 70% of the country's population with its network by 2023. Not only this, but Dish is gearing up to launch its first 5G service in Las Vegas, Nevada, in the coming period. One of the unique features of Dish Network 5G infrastructure is a development from scratch. Unlike other operators, Dish Network is not upgrading its existing network for newer 5G speeds.

Dish Network is Leveraging Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN)

The decision by Dish Network to build a 5G network from scratch will allow the operators to reap multiple benefits in the near future. To develop the network, the operator is leveraging the Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) technology. If you are not aware, the O-RAN technology uses software to run network functions on standardised computer hardware instead of purchasing all the gear in the network from specific telecommunications gear providers like Nokia, Huawei and more. The step taken by Dish Network allows them to blend hardware services from different vendors. To trace back, the company has already joined forces with Fujitsu Ltd and Amazon Web Services for cell tower gear and cloud computing services.

Dell Gets a Flagship U.S. Customer for the Technology

Under the terms of the deal, Dell will provide computer servers to Dish Network that will sit in the centre of cell towers or somewhere near to crunch data while sharing it towards the central data centre would cause too much delay. Marc Rouanne, who is the Executive Vice President and Chief Network Officer at Dish, stated that the company could put servers at the bottom of the tower, or it can centralise up to 50 sites. He also stated that the unique feature of the software is flexible placement as per the needs of the company. With the agreement, Dell also gets a flagship customer on U.S. soil for its technology. Earlier this week, Vodafone stated that Dell would assist them in developing Europe's first O-RAN 5G network.

Bharti Airtel Boosts Network Services in Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir

Bharti Airtel

Bharti Airtel
Bharti Airtel has just deployed additional spectrum in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh circle. The telco has deployed a total of 30 MHz of additional spectrum in the concerned union territories and is now in a good position to offer seamless and strong network services to its customers living there. Further, Airtel now has the largest spectrum holdings in the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh area. Let's take a detailed look into how much spectrum Airtel has deployed in the region.

Bharti Airtel Has 71.2 MHz of Spectrum in Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir

Bharti Airtel now has a total of 71.2 MHz of spectrum in the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh area. The telco has spectrum in several frequency bands, including 900/1800/2100/2300 MHz bands. The 30 MHz of additional spectrum that's been added just now has been deployed in the 1800/2300 MHz bands.

The telco has deployed 20 MHz of spectrum in the 2300 MHz band and 10 MHz of spectrum in the 1800 MHz band. This move will allow Airtel customers travelling on the highways and rail routes to get better access to the company's mobile network for communication. Further, the additional spectrum will provide better connectivity to users both indoors and outdoors.

Out of the total 71.2 MHz of spectrum that Bharti Airtel has in the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh circle, 40 MHz of spectrum is in the 2300 MHz band, 25 MHz of spectrum is in the 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz bands, and the remaining 6.2 MHz of spectrum is in the 900 MHz band.

Bharti Airtel has over 5.59 million customers in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh circle, and the telco's network covers 91.13% population of both the union territories. With the additional spectrum, Bharti Airtel will be able to offer better services to existing and new customers that it might add in the future.

Users will be able to download, watch high-quality videos online, and do more leveraging the networks of Bharti Airtel. Further, Airtel is also building a base for itself with the additional spectrum to offer 5G services as soon as possible.

The telco has deployed pre-5G Massive MIMO and some other advanced tools with the additional spectrum.

BSNL and MTNL Want Ex-Employees Back

Posted: 16 Jun 2021 11:50 PM PDT

BSNL

BSNL

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) want their ex-employees back. Both the telecom operators have sought for the Department of Telecommunications (DoT's) permission to rehire their employees who left the telco under the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS). According to a report from the IndianExpress, the state-run telcos want these employees to come back in the capacity of consultants.

BSNL and MTNL Facing Employee Shortage Issue

Both BSNL and MTNL are facing employee shortage issues because of operational losses. Approximately 93,000 employees from both companies left under the VRS last year. But due to employee shortage, several field and attached offices have approached the telecom department to seek its permission for whether employees who left under the VRS can be hired back as consultants.

The DoT has asked the offices to hold the move and not hire the old employees back right away. This matter will be discussed extensively in the DoT Headquarters (HQ), and later proper guidelines will be released whenever the decision is taken.

The Central government had announced the VRS back in 2019 to help in cutting down the wage expenses of both the state-run telcos. With the scheme, BSNL's wage expenses were expected to be cut by 50%, whereas MTNL's wage expenses were expected to be cut by 75%.

More than 50% of the workforce of BSNL had opted to retire voluntarily, while 80% of MTNL's workforce had chosen to retire voluntarily. As per an old statement from the telecom department, most of the employees who chose to retire voluntarily were non-executive officers. Further, the employees who left the company were mostly between 55-60 years of age.

If a BSNL or MTNL employee chose to leave the company under VRS, he/she would get 35 days of salary for each year of service already completed and further 25 days of salary for each year he/she had left until retirement.

The amount to the employees was to be paid in two instalments. The first 50% of the total amount was to be paid in the FY2020-21 and the second instalment in the FY2021-22. The second instalment payment has been delayed to the employees owing to the expenditure costs that the telco had to incur because of the COVID-19 slowdown.

Vodafone Idea Is Again Offering 1GB Daily Data Free for 7 Days

Posted: 16 Jun 2021 10:26 PM PDT

Vodafone Idea

Vodafone Idea

Vodafone Idea (Vi), the third-largest telecom operator in the country, is offering users 1GB of daily data for free for 7 days. The offer might be available for few customers only depending on the region they live in or the kind of pack they have. One of our members living in the Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh circle received this offer. The offer was provided to the member today, i.e., June 17, 2021, and will stay in place until June 23, 2021.

Vodafone Idea Users Getting 1024MB Data for Free

Vodafone Idea (Vi) isn't doing this for the first time. The telco has done this several times to attract users towards its mobile network services. Upon logging on to his Vi account, the concerned member who received the offer saw 1024MB data credited to his account for today.

It is worth noting that the member that we are talking about here doesn't use Vi SIM as his primary number. Thus, he didn't have any active data packs on his account. Further, he has received this offer from the company several times despite never using the data ever.

Is this a good way to attract customers towards its services, it might be. But does it convert users into using Vi number as a primary connection? We will have to ask Vodafone Idea. But given the fact that the company has stuck to its approach of gaining customers' attention this way, it might be working!

Neither Reliance Jio nor Bharti Airtel has ever been known for giving free data to its users just to gain their attention. This just shows how desperate the situation of Vodafone Idea is right now. Regardless, this is a win-win move for both the consumer and the company.

The consumer gets free data, and the company gets to keep the customer. Even though users might not keep the Vi SIM as their primary number, at least they won't port out to any other network if they keep getting free data from the company.

Vi has some excellent prepaid offerings under its belt; we just hope the company can improve its network coverage in the coming days as well.

Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) Now Available for Pre-Registered Users on Google Play Store

Posted: 16 Jun 2021 09:35 PM PDT

The much-awaited battle royale game, Battlegrounds Mobile India aka BGMI, is now available for pre-registered users on Google Play Store. Krafton Inc, the game maker, released the teaser for BGMI more than a month ago, and finally, the game is released to the public, albeit under the moniker of ‘Early Access.’ The full-fledged public rollout of the game might happen in the next couple of weeks. Ever since PUBG Mobile was banned by the Government of India, fans have been eagerly waiting for the game’s return. While the name BGMI sounds new, it is basically the banned PUBG Mobile game with a flavour of Indian origins. For example, the blood colour in BGMI will be ‘green,’ and there are some other cosmetic changes too. For the users who pre-registered on Google Play Store, the game should automatically begin downloading. Krafton Inc is yet to open pre-registrations on iOS.

PUBG Mobile Userdata Will Be Migrated to BGMI: Confirmed

Right after the game’s availability on Google Play Store, we fired up YouTube to check if any streamers had early access to the game. True to our thoughts, India’s popular YouTuber Dynamo Gaming began his live stream of BGMI. As the live stream progressed, a pop-up appeared on the screen saying that the data from PUBG Mobile will be migrated to BGMI. Yes, you read it right. For those who spent a lot of money on PUBG Mobile’ gun skins, vehicle skins and so on, this news will come as a breath of fresh air.

The pop-up notification read as “Welcome! We can help transfer your data from us (Proxima Beta Pte. Limited), the operator of PUBG Mobile Nordic Map: Livik, to KRAFTON Inc, the operator of the New App, so that you can use such data in the New App. Please note that after December 31, 2021, such transfer will no longer be possible.”

As you can read, Krafton will be offering ‘Account Data Transfer’ facility till the end of this year, which is a good thing considering we are six months away. That said, the game’s public launch is still weeks away, and we might see some interventions from the government as well.

Another thing worth noting is the gameplay of BGMI is pretty much identical to that of PUBG Mobile, so if you are looking for something new, you are in for a disappointment. Lastly, the Royale Pass seasons will reboot, and they now begin from Season 1 in BGMI. The official launch of Royale Pass will be followed by the public launch of the game.

Impact of Broadband Connection on Smart Home Technology

Posted: 16 Jun 2021 09:28 PM PDT

Broadband Connection

Broadband Connection

Internet, since its launch in the year 1983, has a number of varied use cases which have constantly been upgraded and expanded with the growth of surrounding technology. Back in the day, when the internet was just launched, it was basically used as a search engine. As time progressed and people started leveraging the internet to reach larger audiences, it is now used as a source of entertainment, advertisement, learning, communication and much more.

The latest use case of internet broadband connection that is still in the budding phase is to assist in building and operating a smart home technology environment. A smart home environment includes a range of devices all connected to the internet via a broadband connection. A user of the internet-connected to the same broadband connection can use the internet as the medium to access these devices over voice or remote control. As we look forward to replacing or upgrade any device in our household in the future, we will probably have a version of that device that is smart as an alternative to choose. There are various elements and devices that make up a smart home environment.

Broadband Connection Connected Smart Security Can Help You Keep a Watch Remotely

There are a few elements that altogether constitute a smart home technology environment. First is the smart device itself that can be controlled via voice or remote control, second is the broadband connection that acts as a bridge between the user and the device, the third is an enabler like your remote control or a smart home gadget through which the user gives the command.

In the case of smart security, the security cameras and smart locks connected to the broadband connection are smart devices that can be accessed and controlled remotely through mobile phones. You can view real-time footage from the camera on your mobile and even control who can get in your house using this smart security technology.

Smart Electronic Appliances No Longer Need Physical Interactions to Work

There is an enormous range of smart electronic appliances available in the market ranging from ovens to washing machines, fridges to vacuum cleaners, ceiling fans and tube lights and much more. These devices no longer need to be physically operated as you can just use your phone to give them commands using your broadband connection. You can also use smart home gadgets like Amazon's Echo or Google Home to give voice commands to turn these devices on and off without having to even get up from your spot.

Smart Gadgets and Smart Televisions Are Becoming the New Normal

Although the demand for smart appliances hasn't been that satisfactory yet, Smart Gadgets like smart Bluetooth speakers and Smart Televisions are enjoying their fair share of popularity in the market. Smart gadgets on their own have many use cases like being used as a voice-based search engine, setting reminders, knowing the latest news and weather, making calls and listening to music.

These have started to gain popularity even without being connected to smart appliances, and they are pretty useful. On the other hand, with the massive boost in OTT streaming platforms, smart televisions are also booming as users have switched to the internet to watch content over traditional cable.

iMac issues

Cupertino giant Apple has never been shy to launch products that do something different, be it the $1000 iPhone X inclusive of the thinnest chin at the time to the Apple AirPods Max, a pair of headphones that have a unique design and an exorbitant price tag. In recent times, however, the company has focused on improving the performance of its products, as has been the case ever since the company ditched Intel in favour of the M1 chip.

The company, in a bid to bring parity to its pc and laptop segment, announced the new M1 based iMac in 2021, with the iMac being the first desktop computer from Apple to be based on Arm-based silicon. The key changes to the iMac were in terms of the slimness, with a very slim display that is a bit shocking when viewed in real life.

However, it seems that will this new advancement, there has been an issue with the production of the iMac, at least for certain units, as there seems to be an odd defect to the chassis of the 2021 iMac.

Recently, it has surfaced, courtesy of iPhonedo, that the iMac has a crooked display, as the YouTuber noticed his M1 based iMac to be slightly crooked.

What Do We Know About the Peculiar Issue

To further lay rest to the doubts, he took a ruler and measured the sides and the distance to the desk and it was revealed that one side measured 7.6 cm or 2.99 inches, with the other side measuring 8cm or 3.14 inches. This is pretty noticeable, especially in his video, wherein someone with OCD might be annoyed to a certain extent.

Interestingly, the YouTuber is not the only person to have spotted the problem, as two other users who are part of Apple’s support community and a particular Reddit user noted the issue of the crooked panel. Furthermore, MacRumors also reported that their unit had a slightly crooked display. The number of affected users is unknown, with this probably being a minor flaw, but, nonetheless, it is worth noting.

There is no word from Apple in regards to the issue, but it could have to do with either the stand or the screws that hold the display. This is a weird defect to have and you should keep track of your iMac in case you have purchased it since it is peculiar to see on a product that costs over $1000.

In case you missed it, the new iMac comes with a 1080p FaceTime camera that is a massive improvement over previous cameras for the iMac, complete with Apple’s TrueTone display tech. The iMac also features two fans rather than a complete thermal system due to the presence of the mighty M1 chip.

To read further on the iMac, you can read more via the highlighted link, but, in terms of pricing, in case you are curious, the iMac 2021 lineup is priced starting at  Rs 1,19,900 in India complete with 256GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM. The iMac is also available in seven unique colours.

Bharti Airtel Reliance Jio Expensive Plans

Bharti Airtel Reliance Jio Expensive Plans
Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio are two of the top telecom operators of India. Both the operators offer very competitive plans to their customers in a bid to stay ahead of each other. Most of the plans from Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have very slight differences between them where usually Airtel's plan is a little more expensive but offers almost the same benefits. Today, we are taking the most expensive prepaid plans from Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio and checking what do these plans have in common apart from the differences.

Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio Most Expensive Plans Common Features

Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio both offer a prepaid plan with year-long validity. Both the telecom operators offer a plan that costs more than Rs 2,500. The most expensive prepaid plan from Bharti Airtel comes for Rs 2,698, and Reliance Jio comes for Rs 2,599.

Now let's see things that are common with these plans. The first thing that's common is that both of them offer users 2GB daily fair-usage-policy (FUP) data for the whole year. Then, with both the plans, users get unlimited calling and 100 SMS/day for the entire validity.

Further, both the plans offer users an over-the-top (OTT) benefit of Disney+ Hotstar VIP for one year. Also, once the user consumes FUP data for the day, the internet speed for him/her drops to 64 Kbps for the rest of the day.

These are all the things that are common between the plans. Now let's look at things that are not coming.

Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio Most Expensive Plans Differences

Reliance Jio's Rs 2,599 plan also comes with a bonus of 10GB of data meaning the total amount of data that the users get with Jio's plan is 740GB, while with Airtel's plan, users get no bonus data. Hence Airtel's most expensive plan offers users 730GB of data.

Further, Airtel offers users Airtel Thanks benefits, while Jio offers a complimentary subscription to multiple Jio applications. Airtel Thanks benefits include Airtel Xstream Premium, Shaw Academy, Apollo 24/7 Circle, Wynk Music, Free Hellotunes and more. Jio's benefits include JioCloud, JioTV, JioCinema, JioSecurity, and JioNews.

But there's one more thing that Airtel's plan offers, which none of the other companies in the entire industry offer, and that is a free one month trial of Amazon Prime Video Mobile Edition. The Mobile Edition Amazon Prime Video can only be used to play content on a single screen, and that is further limited to a smartphone only. Users can't use it to play content on their TVs.
