Samsung has established itself as a premium player in the smartwatch segment for android users. Renders of Samsung's next-generation smartwatch, namely Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, have surfaced online ahead of its official launch. The leaked renders reveal the supposed design and specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. According to the renders, Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 will sport a circular build design. The smartwatch will also feature a biometrical impedance analysis (BIA) sensor that will be used for monitoring body composition. Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 To Also Feature Heart Rate Monitoring and SpO2 Tracking91Mobiles posted the leaked renders of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. Surprisingly, Samsung Galaxy Watch 4's circular design seems to be inspired by Galaxy Watch Active 2 rather than the Galaxy Watch 3. The leaked renders reveal that the watch might be available in four colour options, including Black, Silver, Dark Green and Rose Gold. Apart from the BIA sensor, the premium category smartwatch would also feature Heart Rate Monitoring and blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) tracking. In terms of build quality, the leaked renders suggest that Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 will have rounded edges and a thinner profile compared to its predecessor. It will reportedly come in two sizes, which are, 40mm and 44mm. Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Will Retain Features from Samsung Galaxy Watch 3Even though the next generation will not be inspired by Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 in terms of build quality, it will, however, retain some of its features. The features that the Galaxy Watch 4 will retain from its previous version are interchangeable wrist strap design and physical buttons. Other leaked features of the Galaxy Watch 4 include 5ATM water resistance and MIL-STD 810G durability. The back of the watch that appeared in the leaked renders suggests that the smartwatch will have Gorilla Glass DX+ protection. Tizen OS, a collaborative integration effort by Samsung and Google, might also debut the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. Tizen OS can allow for better battery life and performance and support for newer apps and watch faces. It is expected that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 will have both LTE and Wi-Fi variants. Both these variants are likely to have NFC support along with features like offline music playback support. |
| Why Is Everyone Talking About TPMs and Is It Really Important? Posted: 27 Jun 2021 04:30 AM PDT ![]()
Microsoft recently announced the next version of Windows 11 and, with this announcement came the information regarding the features and limitations of the Windows 11 update, combined with which devices will support it and which devices won’t. This has resulted in sudden attention to the Trusted Platform Module or TPM, which has caused concern for early adopters of the upcoming OS. A question of whether or not your laptop has a TPM that can work with Windows is one that most would never expect to have been asked, but that has suddenly become the new norm, at least since the announcement. Today, we will take a look at what a TPM exactly is and how Microsoft is requiring the need for a specific TPM. What Exactly Is a Trusted Platform Module (TPM)?
To explain it simply, the TPM is a small chip present on your computer or laptop’s motherboard, usually within the module but at times separate from the main memory and CPU. The chip is much like the authentication device or app that you might use for additional security, but, in this instance, it is like when a code is provided and, in case it is not read in the given time, the process is failed. When you press the power button on a newer PC that makes use of full-disk encryption and a TPM, the chip will act as a supplier of a unique code dubbed a cryptographic key. If everything is fine, the drive encryption is opened and your computer will startup. In case of a problem with the key, your PC will fail to boot. That is not the only use case though, as there are multiple other use scenarios. Many apps and features also make use of the TPM post the system has booted up. The Outlook email clients make use of TPM to take care of encrypted messages. Furthermore, the Firefox and Chrome web browsers also make use of the TPM for some functions, like maintaining SSL certificates for websites. Why Are TPMs Important For Windows 11?Earlier versions of Windows, such as Windows 7 and Windows 10 have both required support for TPMs. with the main adopters being laptops and desktops meant for use within major organisations with security requirements. TPMs have been replaced by smart cards at some organisations, but they are still very useful. TPMs are primarily used as efficient methods of securing Windows PCs. It might interest you to know that since July of 2016, Microsoft has made it necessary for TPM 2.0 support on all new PCs, be it for Windows Home, Education, Pro or Enterprise. Just like this, Windows 11 will only work on devices with TPM 2.0. If you download the compatibility tool and it states that your laptop supports Windows 11, there is a great chance that your laptop has the new module. Interestingly, however, Microsoft has noted subtly that Windows 11 will run on PCs that have older TPMs in certain situations, with the documents indicating that the TPM 2.0 is a soft floor requirement, with PCs with TPM 1.2 supported, but, the devices that do have them will get a note that mentions that the upgrade is not advised. Does Your PC Have TPM 2.0?
If you have a computer that meets the minimum requirements for Windows 11, it might support TPM 2.0. The standard is new, so, if your laptop is older than 2016, it might not have TPM 2.0 and vice versa for devices launched in 2016 and later. The older laptops should include TPM 1.2, which according to Microsoft is not recommended for Windows 11. Due to the various kinds of TPMs on offer, there is no easy way to verify whether or not your PC has an enabled TPM 2.0 chip or firmware, with Window’s rather generic security processor status indicator being your only hope. Certain companies like Dell have released a chart that indicates which type of TPM is installed in which system. The company makes use of three different types of TPM 2.0 in the Latitude, Precision and consumer laptops and desktops, which should make things a bit simpler for a generic user. |
| BSNL Has a Lot to Impart From Private Telcos to Chart a Territory Ahead Posted: 27 Jun 2021 01:30 AM PDT ![]()
We have covered the highs and lows of the telecom industry in the last few weeks, looking at what makes certain telecom companies stick with the customers and others being sidelined from the competition. The telecom companies that we have shed the limelight on have all been private ones. But today, we're going to turn the wheels and take a look at the public telecom company, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, and what it can do to make itself a strong contender in front of its rivals. The BSNL 4G TrailEven before we've said it, the consumer knows it best that the one and only thing that BSNL would be aggressively pursuing is the launch of the 4G network. While states like Kerala have been beneficiaries of the BSNL 4G network, the other states have eluded the service till now largely except for some areas with sporadically available service. The availability of the BSNL 4G network would put it at par with a lot of telecom operators, especially given the coverage that BSNL has. The government-led telecom operator has availability of network in the deepest parts of the country, and coupling it with high speeds would mean a sure success story for BSNL. BSNL has aggressively tried to bring 4G customers onboard earlier by distributing SIM cards either for free or for a very marginal cost which has helped customers migrate to the services. Such a move might prove beneficial in the areas again where the 4G network has popped up. The success of BSNL BroadbandAnother area where BSNL can be said to be a strong competitor is wired broadband. Almost all reviews of BSNL FTTH have garnered a lot of praise. The plans of BSNL broadband are unique and offer lots of data. Perhaps what BSNL can do to spice things up is to bundle OTT services similar to other telecom operators to make these plans attractive. Postpaid being a high earner for most telecom operators is also something BSNL can capitalise on. Some Changes that BSNL Can MakeTo make its plans more attractive, moves like data rollover and weekend bundling, similar to Vodafone Idea, can prove to be a game-changer to the telecom company. There was a time when BSNL's landline services were immensely popular for offering free calling in the late-night wee hours. This is something that can be revived in the data game. All this being said, the natural step for BSNL seems to be the acquisition of 4G spectrum and the rollout of a 4G network. Of course, being a public telecom operator, the acquisition of the 4G spectrum might be easier for BSNL, given that it's the sole crown jewel of the government when it comes to telecommunications. The government has already hinted that it plans on retaining at least one player in the strategic sectors, even with plans of disinvestment. This means that BSNL has something to look forward to. It's not that BSNL is not a powerful adversary to the present telecom companies, but a lot of public perception is also behind the situation in which BSNL stands today. There are several prepaid plans in the BSNL prepaid portfolio and broadband portfolio, which can be considered better than Vodafone Idea's or Reliance Jio's offerings, but the aggressive marketing strategies pursued by these companies lead to the customers being lured. A slight spike in the marketing by BSNL might also translate to more customers on its network. Summarising, it can be said that BSNL is here to stay for the long run. The wide coverage which BSNL offers in the deepest areas of the country is something that makes it unique, and the BSNL broadband plans have surely made their place in the market. Now it remains to be seen, with the fight for 5G running in the market, how BSNL catches up with other telecom companies. |

Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio both allow their users to make unlimited voice calls and give them 100 SMS/day. So there's just no way you can differentiate between these plans. Even the customer care teams of both companies are excellent, so you won't have to worry about anything even after you have paid for the plan. So at the end of the day, with the Rs 399 plan from both the telcos, what matters more is where you live. |
