Indian Telecom Companies Investing More in 5G

Posted: 20 Jul 2021 12:21 PM PDT

5G in India Ceragon, one of the major 5G and mobile network solutions providers based out of Israel, said that it has received follow up orders from the tier-1 telecom service providers (TSPs) of India, totalling over $35 million in Q2. The big order from the Indian telecom companies is a testament to the fact that the operators want to roll out 5G networks as fast as possible. Before the 5G spectrum auctions take place in India, the operators want to ensure that their mobile networks are 5G ready.

Indian Telcos Want to be Ready for 5G

As per an ET Telecom report, Doron Arazi, CEO of Ceragon Networks, said that 5G spectrum auctions in India are planned for the first half of 2022, and that is why mobile operators in the country are moving fast to ensure that their networks are 5G ready. Arazi added that Indian operators had chosen Ceragon for being a part of the 5G field trials for testing the company's mmWave frequency solutions. Note that mmWave frequency bands will be able to show the true potential of 5G to the users in India. There's no fixed date available for the 5G spectrum auctions in India for now. The spectrum auctions are overseen by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in the country. There are still many issues that DoT needs to resolve before the spectrum auctions are announced. First and foremost is the price of the airwaves in the 700 MHz band. Operators have ignored the 700 MHz spectrum band because of its unfair pricing. Further, the Indian Navy is a little reluctant in vacating 100 MHz of airwaves in the 3.3 GHz to 3.4 GHz band for the 5G auctions. The mid-band airwaves will be crucial for the telcos to ensure that customers get good speeds, and that is why it is important that it is included in the auctions.

Asus ZenFone 8 Series to Launch in India Soon, According to Business Head

Posted: 20 Jul 2021 08:16 AM PDT

Asus ZenFone 8 With the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, India was hit with an unexpected health crisis that saw tons of damage, both economically and socially. Smartphone companies, too, were affected, with tons of products being delayed or cancelled owing to the production issues caused by the pandemic. One such product that got pushed back was the ZenFone 8 and its counterpart, the ZenFone 8 Flip, both of which were made to take on the likes of the OnePlus 9 series and Samsung S21 series of devices. It seems that Asus is finally preparing to launch these devices in India, with the devices having been listed on the Asus site earlier, with a fresh reaffirmation having been released on Tuesday, courtesy of the company’s head.

What Does Asus Have to Say?

The ZenFone 8 series is yet to get a fixed launch date yet but the Business Head of Commercial Smartphones and PC, Mr Dinesh Sharma, has stated that it will happen soon. This information comes through an interview that was conducted with India Today. During an interview, Mr Sharma mentioned that the phones would be coming to India very soon. The company, as of now, is sorting out the logistics issue and looking for a way to fill stocks before the first sale. Do note that price-related hints were not provided. He stated that the company would be launching the Zenfone 8 in India very soon. And, when we say that, we mean that it will happen really soon. There have been a lot of requests about that product on social media. There are a lot of factors that have to be looked at, including the logistics and as soon that is done, the company will soon announce a date. He added that the company has to make a product available in sufficient quantity to start the sale. The way smartphone manufacturing works, there’s a build-up process to it. One cannot expect a high volume of products from the very first day. It takes a bit of time after you start the process. Interestingly, for those of you unaware, the ZenFone 8 series of devices will mark the return of the famed ZenFone series in India, as the last product launched under the series was back in 2019, in the form of the Asus 6Z, which was the ZenFone 6 in global market, opting to skip the ZenFone 7 in favour of the ROG series of devices that hold a bit of a cult status in the country.

SpaceX Backed Starlink Broadband Service Could Debut in India in 2022

Posted: 20 Jul 2021 07:11 AM PDT

SpaceX Starlink SpaceX, the venture by Billionaire Elon Musk aims to launch the company’s own satellite internet service, Starlink in the country of India in 2022. For those of you unaware, the aerospace company has listed multiple Indian locations on its website, with the services being available on first-come-first-serve criteria. In case you were curious, interested users can pre-book Starlink services in India on the website for a refundable amount of $99 or Rs 7,265. Starlink as a concept is a collection of tiny internet satellites that are orbiting closer to the Earth’s surface, which is at an altitude of 550km, which, when compared to the larger navigation and communication satellites operate from medium Earth orbit of around 2,000 to 35,000 km or, at times the geosynchronous orbit, which usually operates from beyond 35,000 km.

What are SpaceX’s Plans for India?

Due to its proximity to the planet’s surface, Starlink and other alternatives of the satellite service do much better when it comes to areas of interference and, more importantly, latency, which can result in much better internet services for the consumer. Previous reports have claimed that the existing satellite broadband services in the country have median latencies of around 612ms, with a drop off to 594ms. Starlink, according to SpaceX will reduce this latency down to a measly 20-40ms.  As of now, the beta testing of this service is going on in the US, with an assured speed of around 150Mbps. Users will be required to use the Starlink kit to access the service, with the kit set to include a router, a monitoring tripod and a user terminal to connect the satellites. SpaceX has claimed that the uptime, latency and data speed will improve much more with the launch of further satellites and installation of more and more ground stations, which will be coupled with upgradation in networking software. The company stated earlier that it plans to launch around 12,000 Starlink satellites with around 1,000 in place as of the time of writing this article. Do note that SpaceX is not the only satellite internet provider that might enter the Indian market. Hughes India, a subsidiary of Hughes Network Systems, has recently set up ties with the Indian Space Research Organisation or ISRO in order to provide internet services to around 5,000 remote villages located in Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Eastern Ladakh, Tripura and Manipur. The company will be using the Indian space agency's communications satellites, which are the GSAT-19 and GSAT-11. Bharti Airtel has also announced its plans to launch its own high-speed satellite internet service in 2022 via OneWeb's LEO internet satellites.

Going by the teaser released by Micromax, the upcoming handset will offer smooth performance, long battery life with the focus group being Gig workers. The teaser does not reveal the name of the handset, but we can expect it to be released as the Micromax IN 2B in India, as the device was spotted on Geekbench in June.

What do We Know About the Micromax In 2B,2C?

At that time, the benchmark listing had revealed the main specifications of the device ahead of the launch. This device will be succeeding the Micromax In 1B smartphone. According to a report by The Mobile Indian earlier this week, Micromax seems to be planning to launch the Micromax In 2B in India by the end of July. Now, the teaser of the arrival of the new handset on July 30th has further provided us with solidified proof of a new offering from the company. The device is also expected to opt for 4GB of RAM. Software-wise it should run Android 11 out of the box. The Geekbench test revealed that the Micromax In 2B managed to score 350 points in the single-core test and 1204 points in the multicore test. To recall, the Micromax 1N 1B was launched by Micromax earlier in 2020 in November. The device opted for a 6.52-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution and a 20:9 aspect ratio. Performance-wise the handset was powered by the octa-core Helio G35 SoC. Optics wise the 1N 1B used a dual-camera setup with a 13MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary camera. The phone used a massive 5000mAh battery with 10W charging. The report also mentions that the company could release the Micromax In 2C in India next month, with a Geekbench listing confirming the same. The listing revealed that the In 2C could ship with an Unisoc T610 processor with 4GB of RAM. The phone could run Android 11 out of the box.

Netplus Broadband Rs 999 Plan Offering TV, OTT and Unlimited Data With 200 Mbps Speed

Posted: 20 Jul 2021 05:41 AM PDT

Netplus Broadband Netplus Broadband is yet another wired broadband service provider which has been increasing its foothold in certain parts of the country. Apart from the big names which pop up everywhere, like Reliance Jio's JioFiber, Airtel Xstream Fiber service, and BSNL FTTH, these companies sometimes offer better services in terms of speeds, cost, and other add-ons as well. As for Netplus Broadband, the company is mostly consolidated to the northern states like Uttarakhand, UP, Delhi, Himachal, and J&K and is providing some very attractive plans which give tough competition to the likes of Xstream Fibre and JioFiber as well. Today, we are comparing the Rs 999 broadband plan being offered by Netplus broadband against the same price plan being offered by other service providers.

Netplus Broadband Rs 999 Plan

The Rs 999 Netplus Broadband is offering truly unlimited data with a speed of 200 Mbps. There is also an unlimited calling facility bundled with this plan. In this plan, the subscribers also get a subscription to a handful of OTT services like VOOT Select, EROS NOW, and ZEE 5. Apart from this, the most attractive part of this service is the IPTV subscription bundled along with this plan which offers 335+ SD channels. This is one feature that sets it apart from the other broadband providers.

Rs 999 Broadband Plan by JioFiber and Airtel Xstream

As for the Rs 999 broadband plan by JioFiber, the subscriber gets 150 Mbps service for 3,300GB of data. There are also unlimited calls in this plan paired with a Disney+ Hotstar subscription and Prime Video as well. The subscribers also get the IPTV subscription of JioTV as well. Hence, except in terms of speed which differs by 50 Mbps, even this plan of JioFiber compares a little to the Netplus Broadband plan. The Airtel Xstream Fibre plan also offers 200 Mbps speed with unlimited calling, and OTT subscriptions like Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, and some Airtel services. However, the Airtel Xstream subscription misses out on the IPTV subscription. This tells us that the Netplus Broadband plan is actually value for money on a lot of fronts.

BharatNet Global Tender Floated by Govt With PPP Model Vision

Posted: 20 Jul 2021 04:37 AM PDT

Bharatnet BharatNet is the ambitious project of the current government to connect 2.5 lakh gram panchayats and 6 lakh villages using a high-speed broadband network. This would bode well for these villages, the connected Community Service Centres, and other e-governance initiatives which are ongoing in the country. As per this latest development, the project, which is being implemented by BBNL (Bharat Broadband Network Limited), has floated a global tender for creation, upgradation, operation and maintenance, and utilization of BharatNet in 9 packages spanning 16 states. The concession period for this tender is 30 years. If gone through, various private entities would be able to fasten up the rollout of the BharatNet network.

New VGF Approved for BharatNet

In his previous independence day address, PM Modi had promised that BBNL would carry out the task of connecting the said villages within 1000 days. However, in recent times, BharatNet has come under much criticism and has also been mired in controversy. The report comes from ET Telecom. The cabinet has also cleared a viability gap funding of Rs 19,041 crore for the BharatNet project. Under the PPP model, the government will be taking the Design, Build, Finance, Operate & Transfer (DBFOT) approach. The government is trying to extend broadband connectivity to the deepest parts of the country in the hope that the citizen-centric services and other schemes would be extended to the population, which is currently tough to reach.

Bidding Process for the New PPP Model

According to this new announcement, the bidding process will be a single-stage one. However, there will be two separate bids, one will be a qualifying bid to check the eligibility of the private entity, and the other will be a financial bid to check the financials. Also, the separate packages, which are 9 in number, will be bid differently and not all at once. The existing BharatNet network, which is present in 16 states, will become part of this, a larger network that will span 3,60,000 villages.

Ncell Axiata to Deploy 900 MHz Band For 4G LTE Services in Nepal

Posted: 20 Jul 2021 04:27 AM PDT

Ncell Ncell Axiata, the telecom company based in Nepal is slowly ramping up its speed and coverage in the country. It is worth noting that Nepal being in the mountains, suffers from an acute connectivity issue since it is hard for the companies to deploy BTS and other connectivity equipment in that terrain. However, Ncell Axiata has been on this task and is slowly transitioning to the 900 MHz band for its 4G LTE Service. It's worth noting that the telecom company had got the permission to use the 900 MHz band for its 3G and 4G services, but until now the 3G services were taking the lead.

Ncell To Use Both 1800 MHz and 900 MHz Spectrum

It is worth noting that Ncell Axiata is the second larger telecom operator by subscriber base in the neighbouring country. This means that it commands a substantial market population as well. Now, the transition of 4G LTE services over the sub 900 MHz spectrum would bode well for the speeds that the subscriber experience over mobile internet. Not only this, the wavelengths of these bands are ideal for penetration meaning that they provide better throughput even indoors and are hence preferred over bands like 1800 MHz which are more suited for coverage. Now around 30% of the total sites make use of the 900 MHz band, therefore the subscribers will be able to experience coverage and speeds both.

Nepal to Get 5G Even Before India

As per the reports, Ncell Axiata plans on deploying the service across the country in the next year. Also, since the band will offer LTE services, the quality of voice calls happening over the network will also shoot up. The readers would also find it fascinating to know that Nepal might become the first country to get 5G services, even before India. As per the reports back in March, Nepal already had a large population that was using 4G services, close to 75%. Also, the Nepalese telecom company owned by the Nepal Government might be the first to jump the bandwagon when it comes to 5G testing.

Brave Browser Over Chrome Might Be a Great Idea

Posted: 20 Jul 2021 03:22 AM PDT

Brave Most PC and Laptop users have been accustomed to using Chrome, especially if they are running Windows rather than macOS. Competitors such as Firefox and Edge have fallen behind in terms of taking the fight to the popular browser, but, in reality, Chrome is not as good as it might seem to you. In today’s day and age, usability and certain minor features make or break a browser or application and, that is the case here. Chrome at one time was lauded as the best browser since its way of handling extensions and offering great compatibility, speed and syncing across devices is the best. Security and safety have also become a greater concern, for the better and it is odd to see how much Google knows about you. As an Android user, one is already offering their location, app usage, viewing data to Google. Chrome is key to users such as us who have jobs in writing or online jobs, so it makes sense to take steps to better secure ourselves. Brave can cater to your needs, since it can offer better privacy and safety whilst being faster than Chrome, despite being Chromium-based itself. It can give you access to the Chrome Web Store whilst offering 66% reduced memory usage and 35% reduction in battery life.

Brave Gets What Chrome Had, Chromium!

Chrome For a couple of years, users resented to switching to alternatives as Chrome was built on a great basic structure, but, in recent times, most competitors have moved on to the open-source Chromium structure. Brave itself is based on Chromium, much like Edge, Vivaldi and Opera. What this basically means is that all of these browsers offer Chrome extensions, and provide performance equivalent to, if not better than Chrome. One key use case for us is Google’s Offline Doc function, which can work on Brave even if Google mentions that it is meant for Chrome. Another thing that makes the case for Chrome is the password-saving functionality, which can easily save and fill login details and, once you get used to it, it’s really tough to not use the same each time. A dedicated password manager should do the same job for you, but it should keep the data even more secure, so that is something that we would recommend. Brave is a cross-platform application that can let you use the app on Mac, Windows and smartphones, with an in-built ad-tracker blocker that can protect you in certain situations. Theming wise you do lose out a bit, as Brave only offers an option between light and dark, but instead of keeping the design in mind, Brave focuses more on speed, which is something a user might appreciate more in the long run.

Is Brave better than Chrome?

Instead of getting too in-depth, it makes better sense to tell you the basics. In terms of upgrades, Brave builds on speed and privacy, with the browser forcing you to work on your use case, from adding a proper password manager to offering better speed, it makes your browsing experience tons better. You might have to face more than one instance of CAPTCHAs but, in the general sense, it is tolerable to keep on proving your identity rather than have a person spy on you and steal your data. Don’t get us wrong, Chrome is still good, it is the best featured and offers hassle-free experiences to the user, but, if you can make some changes, for the better, browsers like Brave or Vivaldi can make your use case much better.

ITAT Directs Vodafone India to Pay Rs 230 Crore

Posted: 20 Jul 2021 12:40 AM PDT

Vodafone India Services Vodafone India Services Pvt Ltd (VISPL) has been granted a conditional stay by the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) in a transfer pricing case. The company has been directed to pay Rs 230 crores towards a disputed tax demand and give a corporate guarantee from an associate firm for nearly Rs 900 crore. As reported by ET Telecom, VISPL being unlisted and liable to pay the sum and provide a guarantee might challenge the tribunal ruling in the high court.

Tribunal Rejected VISPL'S Parent Firm Corporate Guarantee

The tribunal rejected the submission of the corporate guarantee provided by the ultimate parent of VISPL, which is Vodafone International Holdings BV. The tribunal stated that the corporate guarantee does not align with the present litigation. The corporate guarantee which Vodafone International Holding BV offers accounts for nearly Rs 3,538.48 crore. The tribunal also highlighted the reality of VISPL, stating that the assessee is an unlisted private company with an authorised capital of Rs 3 crore. The real importance of VISPL lies in the crucial role that it helped in pillaring the financial transactions for Vodafone Group.

Tribunal Asked VISPL To Fully Cooperate in the Matter

The tribunal revealed an international transaction of VISPL in which the Chairman of Max Group Analjit Singh and his wife Neelu Singh has written agreements which directs VISPL or any nominated person to purchase any or entire shares up to 51% held by Singhs in a company which is the Scorpio Beverages Pvt Ltd. The transfer pricing offers noted that the VISPL nominated firm CGP India Investments is a Mauritius based company fully owned by CGP- the Cayman Islands through which Vodafone's holding was routed towards Vodafone India. The tribunal also revealed that since CGP India Investments was nominated to buy 51% of Scorpio Beverages, it was enabled to purchase 4.53% equity in Vodafone India at Rs 1,241 crore, whereas the market price was nearly Rs 2,285 crores in excess. The tribunal has asked VISPL to fully cooperate in expeditious disposal of the appeal in the question. Also, it warned that any lapse on its part would lead to the stay standing vacated forthwith.

DoT and Police Launch Project to Reduce Mobile Thefts

Posted: 19 Jul 2021 11:21 PM PDT

DoT The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Delhi Police have together launched the 'Central Equipment Identity Register' project. This project will help the authorities in tracing, blocking, and reporting IEMI numbers of stolen electronic devices. According to a PTI report, the project is currently launched in Maharashtra and Delhi. With the new project, the concerned authorities will be able to take quick actions and also notify the telecom service providers (TSPs) about the stolen devices so that they can be blocked.

What is IEMI and How Will DoT and Police Use it to Reduce Mobile Thefts?

The IEMI code is a 15 digit number that is available for every smartphone that is manufactured. This code can be used by the relevant authorities in determining the location of the smartphone and further block its usage. Once the IEMI code of the device is reported and validated, the authorities can give the code to the TSPs and ask them to block it from receiving any mobile network within the country. This will render the smartphone totally useless for the person who stole it. Further, if the thief tries to put a SIM card on the smartphone and use it, the TSPs will be able to trace the location and other related information that will aid the police in catching him/her. This is a much-needed project and one that will discourage the stealing of smartphones. There are more ways through which a user can trace the location of his/her smartphone in case it is lost or stolen. With the help of his/her Google ID, the user will be able to not only trace the device if it is active but also erase all of its data in case there is anything sensitive on it. The reach of this project from DoT and the police should increase to more states in the coming days.

Looking for Your Next Smartphone, Just Pick a Midrange Phone

Posted: 19 Jul 2021 10:48 PM PDT

Smartphone The smartphone technology has improved several times in the last decade. Users can do almost everything on their smartphones that they can do on their computers/laptops, leaving aside a few things. There's one thing that's pretty evident in the tech industry; as the scale and availability of the tech increases along with the competition in the market, the prices fall down. Just look at a midrange phone today; it might be better than a flagship device launched 4 years back. The midrange smartphones today have all the capabilities and the power to help the user do almost everything he/she wants to do in a flagship. Here's why you should take a midrange smartphone instead of a flagship one right now.

Reasons Why You Should Stick With Midrange Phones

The first reason is the features/specifications. With a midrange phone today, you can do gaming, click great pictures, edit videos, use 5G connectivity, and get high refresh rate displays along with sufficiently powerful processors. Yes, the pictures might not be as great as what a flagship device delivers, but you will still get images with enough details and colours with a midrange phone that will keep you happy. The second reason is the price. The mid-range phones are priced between Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000. The premium flagships that I am talking about in this article are priced at Rs 50,000 and above. Not spending your money on something you don't need is a great way to ensure that you will always have money to spend on things that you need. The third reason is just how fast smartphones get outdated. For example, today, you might have the latest iPhone 12 series smartphone. In no time, Apple will come out with a new device, and suddenly your iPhone, for which you paid a lot of money, isn't the market leader anymore. That's a little sad. Thus, if you have purchased an expensive smartphone such as the OnePlus 9 Pro, note that you get only two major Android updates. Thus you will have to spend again after two years on another smartphone to get the latest Android update which is just not worth it. But if you have bought a midrange smartphone, if it's outdated, you can change it without bearing a lot of burden on your mind. Further, for Android updates, you can exchange your midrange smartphone with another one to ensure that you are always running the latest Android build.

The iQOO 8 series is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus SoC. The Snapdragon 888 Plus (3.0 GHz) is an overclocked variant of the Snapdragon 888 (2.4 GHz). Note that none of the smartphones in the world has a Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset yet. It will be interesting to see whether iQOO manages to launch the iQOO 8 as the first smartphone in the world to sport the Snapdragon 888 Plus SoC or whether some other brand beats iQOO to it. DCS shared that the iQOO 8 series smartphones will come with better charging capabilities. This means that we can expect even faster charging than the smartphone's predecessor. The exact details and specifications of the charging capabilities of the smartphone were not shared by the tipster. The iQOO 7 series which debuted earlier this year, came with impressive specifications, including 120Hz refresh rate support for the display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. Note that these are only speculations right now, and the company is yet to confirm anything officially. More details about the anticipated iQOO 8 series should be out in the near future.

Apple Lossless Music Is Finally Being Rolled Out to Indian Users

Posted: 19 Jul 2021 07:55 PM PDT

Apple Lossless Music Post multiple leaks and rumours, Apple is finally rolling out Apple Music’s Lossless and Spatial Audio streaming features in India. It is surprising how long it took the Cupertino giant to roll the same to the country, as it had been initially revealed during the WWDC or World Wide Developer Conference in early 2021. This feature, for anyone wondering, will let users opt for enhanced audio quality depending on the sort of music being listened to, with the only requirement being that of the right equipment to make use of the technology. When it comes to how you can turn it on, there are two methods to do the same, either via the iPhone or the Mac.

How Can You Enable Lossless Music?

Users can switch on Lossless Music on the iPhone by first starting the Settings app>Tap on the audio quality option>You can see the Lossless Music option>Turn it on. In contrast, on the Mac you will first need to open the Apple Music app>then you need to click on the menu bar on top and select Preferences> You will see the Playback tab, click it> You will see the audio quality option, under which lossless audio option is present> Click on the same to turn it on. Do note that the user has been given the option to choose the streaming quality for the lossless audio stream on both the Mac and iPhone, with Apple offering two resolutions, specifically 24-bit/48kHz and 24-bit/192kHZ. In case you did not know, the app warns the user that an external DAC will be key when it comes to listening to the best lossless quality Apple offers. Pricing wise, Apple’s Rs 900 lightning to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter offers support for lossless audio, so with wired earphones that should be more than enough. The cheapest headphones that offer support for the same are priced around the Rs 2000-2500 barrier, but at times, higher prices might just make the difference in audio quality seem massive. One thing that you should keep in mind is that lossless audio refers to additional data, meaning that more audio frequencies will be transmitted to your ear, but, most ears are not tuned to the same. So, lossless audio and spatial audio might not seem as amazing as some would make you believe.

Vodafone Idea Times Ahead of Jio, Airtel In This Segment

Posted: 19 Jul 2021 06:34 PM PDT

Vodafone Idea Vodafone Idea (Vi) has been compared to the likes of Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel and is regarded as a telco that's a little beneath the two. However, there's one thing that no one can deny and that is Vodafone Idea's postpaid game is much better than Airtel and Jio's. Neither Airtel nor Jio provides their users with what Vodafone Idea does with its two premium plans – truly unlimited data. Let's take a look at how Vodafone Idea is times ahead of Jio and Airtel in the postpaid segment.

Vodafone Idea Postpaid Plans Unique Benefits

Leaving aside the over-the-top (OTT) benefits offered by either of the telcos', there's one thing that neither of them offers with its postpaid plans but only Vi. That unique benefit is unlimited data and a complimentary international roaming pack worth Rs 2,999 once every year. Most of all, Vi's prepaid plans are much cheaper as compared to what Airtel and Jio offer to their users. It is worth noting that Airtel and Jio offer their most expensive postpaid plans for Rs 1,599 and Rs 1,499, respectively. At the same time, Vodafone Idea offers its most expensive postpaid plan for Rs 1,099 only. Further, for a lesser price, users get unlimited data with the postpaid plan of Vodafone Idea while with Jio and Airtel's plans, that's not the case. Vodafone Idea also offers the OTT benefit of Netflix worth Rs 5,988 per year to the user on the purchase of its RED X plan along with a subscription of Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ Hotstar VIP. Users get the ISD calling benefit to the USA and Canada with the RED X plan of Vodafone Idea for 50 paise per minute while Rs 3 per minute for calling to the UK. Compared to this, Bharti Airtel doesn't offer the Netflix benefit to the users with its most expensive postpaid plan. However, Reliance Jio does. Note that all the operators including Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea, and Bharti Airtel offer their users a free OTT benefit of Amazon Prime Video for one year. The Vodafone Idea users also get preferential treatment from the company's customer care team if they are using the RED X postpaid plan. As for the basic benefits, all the operators provide users with truly unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS/day. Jio users also get a free subscription of all Jio applications while Bharti Airtel users get Airtel Thanks benefits which also includes free access to the Airtel Xstream Premium.
