OnePlus 9RT Is a Minor Upgrade Over OnePlus 9R Posted: 13 Oct 2021 08:55 AM PDT OnePlus has just unveiled the OnePlus 9RT in the China market. In a first, the company has launched the smartphone in China but not in India. Usually, the launch events from OnePlus takes place in multiple regions at the same time. The chipset shortage might be an issue for the company for not being able to come out with the smartphone in India, China, and other regions at the same time. There is something that you should know though, OnePlus 9RT is a minor upgrade over the OnePlus 9R. Yes, the 9RT has the flagship Qualcomm chipset which is Snapdragon 888, but even the 9R has the Snapdragon 870 which is not really bad. Let's take a look at why I believe that the OnePlus 9RT is a very small upgrade over the OnePlus 9R. OnePlus 9RT Specifications and PriceThe OnePlus 9RT has launched in China with a 6.62-inch FHD+ E4 AMOLED screen that can support 1300 nits of brightness. It has a 4500mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging. The display can support 120Hz refresh rate and is also certified HDR10+. In the camera department, the OnePlus 9RT comes with a triple-camera setup at the rear where the primary sensor is a 50MP Sony IMX766 lens paired with a 16MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor. For selfies, there is a 16MP sensor at the front. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC coupled with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The smartphone has launched in three different variants – 8GB+128GB for CNY 3,299 (roughly Rs 38,600), 8GB+256GB for CNY 3,499 (roughly Rs 40,950), and CNY 3,799 (roughly Rs 44,450). There is no word on when the device will be available in India or other international markets. In comparison, the OnePlus 9R comes with a 120Hz refresh rate display support, Snapdragon 870 SoC, quad-camera setup where the primary sensor is a 48MP lens, a 4500mAh battery and 65W fast-charging. There is no way that the OnePlus 9RT is a big upgrade over the OnePlus 9R. The pricing of the smartphones is also not much different and it will be interesting to look at the Indian pricing of the device.
5G Tech to Redefine Future of Telecom And Other Industries Posted: 13 Oct 2021 06:58 AM PDT Technological innovations that will be brought in by 5G will redefine the future of telecom in India and create a plethora of opportunities across various industries including healthcare, fintech, e-commerce, education and entertainment, claims a CII-Deloitte report. The private networks are believed to witness huge demand from enterprises soon, which will be led by the necessity for security and high-speed connectivity within the operating environment. While 5G networks will bring in technological innovations that will redefine the future of telecom, the amalgamation of these services with upcoming industries as well as tech enablers such as 5G, IoT and private networks will reorient the industry into a server enabler from a service provider, highlighted the key takeaways of the report. Role of 5G TechAs per PTI, the report titled 'Digital reset – touching a billion Indians' by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP (DTTILLP) along with CII highlights the major role that 5G tech will play as an enabler and contributor to the progress and success of the enterprise businesses. Also, it details how it eases the lives of common people. Furthermore, the report also underlines the immense opportunities that open up for industries that are based on the digital business model backed by telcos. DTTILLP's partner and telecom sector leader, Peeyush Vaish noted that the rollout of high-speed broadband with the help of 5G and satellite broadband will witness the convergence of the telecom ecosystem and essentially leave an impact on the lives of billions of Indians. He added that it will pave the path for bridging the gap between urban and rural lives across sectors such as banking, education, and healthcare. Given the impact and its potential, the government has to create a separate ministry that is led by a cabinet minister to bring about a digital transformation, which will work with the government bodies as well as the private sector ecosystem in order to drive digital adoption across the country. As per Umang Das, the Chairman of CII Telecom Convergence Summit 2021, the telecom sector is right now at the cusp of transformation towards the digital era and will redefine many other industries on its path.

Big News for Vodafone Idea, Promoters Might Invest $400 Million Posted: 13 Oct 2021 12:57 AM PDT Vodafone Idea might soon get around $400 million in fresh capital from its promoters, including the Aditya Birla Group (ABG) and the Vodafone Group Plc. The third-largest telco's future has stabilised a little post the announcement of the relief package from the government. Now, as per a fresh report from Livemint, Vi might get over $400 million from its promoters. The promoters might inject the fresh capital to retain their 27.66% (ABG) and 44.39% (Vodafone Group Plc) stake in the company as outside investors give the company their money. Birla Might Invest in Vodafone Idea from Unlisted PromoterKumar Mangalam Birla, chairman of the ABG, might invest in the company using an unlisted promoter company. As per the publication's report, none of the listed entities is going to invest in the company. This money for Vodafone Idea could be utilised for capex related to enhancing 4G networks and coverage throughout India. Further, Vi could invest in research and development (R&D) for building and discovering relevant use-cases of 5G for the Indian market. If the promoters invest in the company, it will send a good message out to everyone. This will attract outside investors. Further, if there's a tariff hike, it will put the entire telecom industry in a stable position on the back of the relief package. More relief measures for the telecom sector are about to make their way in the coming months. All of this will incentivise the outside investors to invest in a company such as Vodafone Idea, which can have a huge upside in the market if it starts adding subscribers and can grow its average revenue per user (ARPU) at the same time. The third-largest telecom operator has still not been able to raise Rs 25,000 crores from outside investors. But now, that might change as the industry is becoming more and more investor-friendly.
Vodafone Idea Excelled in the Following Areas in September Posted: 12 Oct 2021 11:14 PM PDT Vodafone Idea, the third-largest telecom operator in the country, has excelled in the two metrics in September 2021. According to the Opensignal report published for September 2021, Vodafone Idea (Vi) provided the best download and upload speeds in India. Vi provided the best average mobile download speeds of 12.8 Mbps. The telco saw a gain of 0.9 Mbps download speed since Opensignal's last report. At the same time, Bharti Airtel saw a gain of 1.9 Mbps which took its overall average download speed to 12.4 Mbps in September 2021, making it the telco with the second-fastest 4G network in India. At the third stood Reliance Jio delivering a tad bit slower average download speed of 12.1 Mbps. Lastly, there was BSNL delivering 3.4 Mbps of average download speed, which is just disappointing (but with 4G networks, this should improve). Vodafone Idea's upload speed was also the best in September 2021, as per Opensignal. Vi delivered an upload speed of 4.3 Mbps, followed by Bharti Airtel (3.8 Mbps), Jio (3.3 Mbps), and BSNL (1.2 Mbps) at last. Dropping Number of Subscribers Might be Helping Vi Deliver Faster SpeedsIf there's less load on the networks, the download speeds will naturally be higher. This could be the case with the networks of Vodafone Idea as well. With a dropping number of subscribers every month, Vodafone Idea's networks might not have the kind of load Jio and Airtel's network do. If the other telcos keep on improving like this, in a very short period, Vodafone Idea will be outdone by Airtel and Jio. As for BSNL, there's no hope for any sort of competition in the mobile segment until and unless the state-run telecom operator is able to roll out 4G networks PAN-India. When it came to 4G coverage and 4G availability, though, Jio stood out at the top while Bharti Airtel was able to deliver the best games and voice app experience.
Airtel Black Plan that Offers Broadband, DTH and Postpaid Connection Posted: 12 Oct 2021 09:23 PM PDT If you are looking for a wholesome service from a telecom company in India, Bharti Airtel might be a good choice. The telco offers something called 'Airtel Black'. It was launched a couple of months back and it is very much like the One Airtel. If you aren't aware of the One Airtel plans, it isn't your mistake. The telco had run it like a beta test in select circles so that it could later launch the 'Airtel Black' service. There is an Airtel Black plan that offers customers broadband, Direct-to-Home (DTH), and postpaid mobile service. The best thing is, all of this comes under a single bill. Let's take a look at all the plans. Airtel Black Rs 2099 PlanThe Rs 2099 plan is the most expensive offering curated by Bharti Airtel for its Airtel Black customers. Note that you can customise the plan and make it cheaper or more expensive, any way you like it. The Rs 2099 plan offers users a broadband connection with 200 Mbps speed. With the Airtel Xstream Fiber's 200 Mbps plan, users are entitled to receive over-the-top (OTT) as well as Airtel Thanks benefits. Then the company also offers postpaid connections to the users. There are a total of 3 postpaid connections offered with 260GB of data and unlimited voice calling for the month. There's one primary SIM and two add-on SIMs. Users are also entitled to receive a free Xstream Box with this plan. For the unaware, the Xstream Box is an Android Set-Top Box (STB) offering from Bharti Airtel. It allows users to consume both OTT content as well as satellite TV content. The Airtel Black users opting for the Rs 2099 plan also get a Rs 424 worth of TV channel pack from the telco. Bharti Airtel has mentioned that it will offer users a free subscription to Amazon Prime Video and Airtel Xstream with this plan. Airtel Black is available for customers around the country. But it is only available for users who either own a postpaid connection from the telco. Users should have new or existing postpaid connections before they can apply for Airtel Black service. There are other plans listed on the website of telco. If you want a postpaid mobile connection only with broadband or with a DTH connection, you can do that as well. You can create a customised plan for you with the help of Airtel's team. Airtel Black customers don't have to see long IVR wait times anymore.
Bharti Airtel ARPU Expected to Go Up With Recent Offer Posted: 12 Oct 2021 08:45 PM PDT Bharti Airtel's average revenue per user (ARPU) is expected to drive up in the near term. The analysts have said that much of the telco's 2G user base will also be retained and converted into 4G because of the recent smartphone offer. This will help the telco reduce the churn rate. At the same time, with converting from 2G to 4G, customers will naturally start paying more which will mean an increase in the ARPU for Bharti Airtel without doing much. For the unaware, Bharti Airtel is offering a Rs 6,000 cashback offer to the users. This cashback will be given to the users in two parts – a) Rs 2,000 after 18 months and b) Rs 6,000 after 36 months. To be eligible to receive the cashback, the customers have to continuously recharge with the Rs 249 plan at least. Analysts Call Timing of the Smartphone Offer from Bharti Airtel a Positive MoveCLSA, in a report, said that the timing of the smartphone offer from Bharti Airtel is positive, keeping in sight the upcoming launch of the JioPhone Next in India. There are over 300 million 2G customers in India. Reliance Jio is looking to get the maximum of them through its JioPhone and the JioPhone Next offer. It is worth noting that according to some analysts, the ARPU gain for Bharti Airtel will only reflect if the telco is able to see any sizeable gain in the number of customers opting for the cashback scheme. The cashback scheme requires users to at least keep subscribing with the Rs 249 plan, which is not a bad amount for the company if it can get millions of more users to keep paying it over the long term. According to an ET Telecom report, an analyst at a leading brokerage firm said that Bharti Airtel needs at least 4 to 5 million 2G customers to opt for the cashback offer before it can see any meaningful ARPU growth.
Netplus Offers Affordable 200 Mbps Plan With IPTV Posted: 12 Oct 2021 06:27 PM PDT Netplus, a regional broadband service provider, offers some of the best internet plans in India. One of the unique things that a lot of its broadband plans come with is the IPTV service. Today, we are going to look at one such plan from the company. The 200 Mbps broadband plan offered by the company in the Punjab circle is called "Truly UL 200 Mbps". The speciality of this plan is that it offers over-the-top (OTT) benefits along with unlimited data. Let's take a look at everything this plan has to offer to its users. Netplus 200 Mbps Broadband Plan DetailsNetplus 200 Mbps broadband plan offers truly unlimited data to the users as well as truly unlimited voice calling (fixed-line). It costs Rs 999 per month (excluding taxes). The plan offers three OTT benefits which include ZEE5 Premium, Voot Select, and Eros Now. There is also an IPTV service offered to the users with 335+ SD channels. These plans are also available for long-term validities. If the users purchase the Rs 999 broadband plan for ten months, then they will get two months of service for free. Further, if the users purchase the plan for five months, then users will get a month worth of service for free. IPTV service means TV content delivered to the users with internet protocols. There are 335 SD+ channels offered to the users with the Netplus 200 Mbps broadband plan. In comparison, there are 200 Mbps broadband plans that are cheaper offered by the other internet service providers (ISPs). But then there are also 200 Mbps broadband plans offered to the users that literally cost the same but also offer multiple OTT benefits. So there's a clear distinction between the plans from other internet service providers (ISPs) and the plan offered by Netplus. Netplus's plan has a clear uniqueness, and it is that it offers IPTV services to the users. The same is not offered by the likes of Reliance Jio (JioFiber) and Bharti Airtel (Airtel Xstream Fiber). There are many users who will appreciate that there is an IPTV service offered, but then there are many who would want to stick with their current TV operators and instead go for the additional OTT benefits offered by the top private operators in the country, which include Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Jio, and Airtel. Then there are other ISPs such as Excitel or Connect Broadband, which offer very affordable broadband plans to the users. But they don't offer IPTV services.
