What Do You Want from Your 5G Smartphone? Let’s Talk? Posted: 02 Oct 2021 03:48 AM PDT 5G smartphones have been discussed very heavily in the past few months. This is because more and more of them are launching in the Indian market and most of them in the budget segment and mid-range segment are overpriced. This is because of the huge cost that the 5G chipsets carry. Now, most of the users believe that buying a 5G device is not right at the moment. This is largely because they are over-priced and also there's no clarity on which bands will the 5G networks of Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea, and Bharti Airtel will support. But here's something that can ease everyone's pain regarding the 5G smartphones. Smartphone companies, hear this carefully! Smartphone Makers Should Focus on Value, Not Cost CuttingAt the end one the day, if someone is spending Rs 30,000 or even Rs 15,000 on a smartphone, be it a 4G device or a 5G device, he/she wants great value against it. But most of the smartphone makers are putting in expensive chipsets and then offering the devices at affordable prices by cutting down costs on displays, speakers, body, and other components of the smartphone. This doesn't sit well with a lot of people. People who are unaware about what a good smartphone is might buy such overpriced devices, but people who understand how a good device performs and feels like, they will never spend more money on buying an underperforming device. So what can the smartphone makers do? They can simply price the device a little higher and offer everything that the user deserves. Yes, India is a price-sensitive market and pricing the devices higher might mean that the competition can cut your sales. But a company should also focus on the kind of long-term brand it is building in the market. No one likes an under-performing smartphone from a good brand! So what do you want from your 5G smartphone today? Leave your thoughts in the comments section!
Posted: 02 Oct 2021 01:41 AM PDT As the internet is an integral part of our lives, we cannot compromise on its usage. If you are one who is hooked to social media and love to surf the internet or binge-watch in your leisure time, then you need to enjoy uninterrupted connectivity. If you want to experience faster internet speed, then you need to switch your internet service provider and opt for an FTTH broadband plan. Before switching, you need to know what is FTTH broadband and what difference it brings in. What Is FTTH Broadband?Fibre-to-the-home broadband or FTTH broadband connection is facilitated with a fibre optic cable connection from a central access point to the residence, apartment, or building that requires the service. It provides a high-speed internet connection sans any glitch. The fibre optic systems are more efficient when compared to traditional broadband options despite being available at almost the same price. The fibre-to-the-home broadband connection increases the internet speed exponentially. Already, FTTH broadband is the number one choice worldwide as it promises internet speeds of 100 Mbps, which is much better than other options. How Does FTTH Broadband Work?Talking about functionality, FTTH broadband connects directly to the user’s residence through optical fibre. Optical fibre transmits information from various servers, thereby ensuring higher connectivity and a better user experience. FTTH broadband is structured uniquely and delivers higher performance. Its structure includes fibre optic cables running from a central office through FDH or fibre disruption hub through an access point. Lastly, it ends going into the user’s residency via a terminal serving as a junction box. The advantages of the fibre-to-the-home broadband connection are many. Firstly, it is highly preferred as it offers to download and upload speeds that are much higher than twisted pair conductors, coaxial cable, or DSL broadband options. Next, it is the next-generation broadband connection and is highly reliable and cost-effective at the same time. FTTH broadband ensures higher performance necessary for HD online video game streaming on applications such as Roku. Lastly, FTTH promotes various updates sans updating the fibre itself and covers longer distances without reducing the speed, unlike other broadband technologies that prevail.
WhatsApp Aggressively Pushing New Features? Posted: 01 Oct 2021 10:40 PM PDT Facebook-owned social media-giant, WhatsApp is aggressively pushing new features to its application for retaining user attention. While it is the king of social media, it still needs to stay ahead of the curve when compared to Signal and Telegram. Multiple new features have become a part of the platform in the last few months. Some of the features came directly from other Facebook-owned applications such as Messenger and Instagram. WhatsApp is soon expected to bring multi-device support as well. However, there are still some areas where the application can improve rapidly. Areas Where WhatsApp Can ExcelAreas, where Telegram excels, can be looked at by WhatsApp. First of all, it would have been good if users could send large files up to 1GB at least. According to a Lifewire report, Telegram users can share files up to 2GB in size with other users. This WhatsApp users can't do even at the verge of 2022 which is a shame. Further, just the additional features that users get in Telegram. Users can even customise the colours inside the application which keeps the experience fresh. It would have been great if it was there in WhatsApp too. At the same time, lesser options, lesser customisation also does one thing for people – it relieves them from the stress of making constant choices. This is a good thing for users who don't want much but just a seamless texting experience. There's no doubt that WhatsApp will be levelling up its game in the coming time to compete heavily with Telegram and Signal. One area where WhatsApp will have to again gain the trust of its users is privacy. A lot of reports and news around the company sharing data with third-party companies was making rounds on the internet earlier this year. It will be worth looking at the strategy that WhatsApp comes up with in the near future.
Airtel 300 Mbps Broadband Plan Brings a Lot to the Table Posted: 01 Oct 2021 06:45 PM PDT Bharti Airtel is one of the leading telecom operators in India. At the same time, the telco has built a very strong business around the broadband segment. Airtel Xstream Fiber, a broadband arm of Bharti Airtel, is already one of the biggest fiber internet service providers (ISPs) in India. Bharti Airtel offers multiple plans to the users to choose from. If there's one plan that has caught the eyes of a lot of professionals, it is the Rs 1,499 plan. If you are someone who is looking to get a high speed 300 Mbps broadband plan or a super-high-speed internet plan, this one is for you. Decoding Bharti Airtel's 300 Mbps Broadband PlanBharti Airtel offers its 300 Mbps plan for Rs 1,499. The telco doesn't change the price of the plan from circle to circle. One thing that's great about Airtel's services, from my personal experience, is consistency. The network uptime is excellent. There are maintenance blocks, but those are very rare, maybe twice or thrice a year for a few hours. Airtel offers users 3.3TB or 3,333GB fair usage policy (FUP) data with the plan. It is worth noting that the speed offered to the users is uniform. You get the same download as well as upload speeds with this plan. Further, Airtel Xstream Fiber also offers a free landline connection with unlimited voice calling benefits. There are over-the-top (OTT) benefits included as well. The OTT benefits are – Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Wynk Music, Shaw Academy for one year, and other Airtel Thanks benefits. Bharti Airtel also allows the users to get the Xstream Box by paying a one-time completely refundable fee of Rs 1,500. The total cost would be something around Rs 2,000 because there will also be a DTH pack included so that the STB can stay active. Airtel has listed this plan for 'professionals'. Note that this doesn't mean that you can't take this plan if you are not a professional in some field. The thing is, 300 Mbps plans aren't required by everyone. But if you are someone who needs it, this plan from Bharti Airtel can be a top choice for you. It is not just the benefits that you get with the plan, but also the quality and the reassurance from the company after you have purchased the plan. Airtel will install the connection free for you and also provide a router without any additional costs if you meet certain criteria.
BSNL Heavy Data Prepaid Plans You Can Consider Now Posted: 01 Oct 2021 12:28 PM PDT Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has some of the best-prepaid plans under its belt. Even though the telco doesn't have 4G networks throughout the country, you can consider its prepaid plans because of the kind of benefits they come with. BSNL is in the process to upgrade to 4G from legacy networks and it should happen in some time. For now, here are some of the heavy data prepaid plans from the state-run telco that you can purchase today. BSNL Heavy Data Prepaid PlansBSNL offers a Rs 187 plan to the users for 28 days. This plan comes with unlimited voice calling, 100 SMS/day and offers users 2GB daily data. After the daily data is consumed, the speed for the user drops to 80 Kbps. Then there is the STV 499 that comes with 90 days of validity. This plan offers users unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS/day, and 2GB daily data just like the Rs 187 plan. However, BSNL also bundles the additional benefits of Zing and BSNL tunes with this plan. One of the heaviest data plans provided by any of the telcos is from BSNL. This plan is 'STV_WFH_599'. It costs Rs 599 and offers users 5GB of daily data. After the users have consumed the fair-usage-policy (FUP) data provided by the plan, the internet speed for them drops to 80 Kbps. This plan also offers users 100 SMS/day and unlimited voice calling. There are additional benefits of Zing and users can also consume unlimited amounts of data between 12 AM and 5 AM without affecting their FUP data for the day. This plan's validity is 84 days. It is worth noting that none of the private telecom operators including Vodafone Idea, Bharti Airtel, and Reliance Jio offer such a plan to their customers. It will be interesting to see them try though.
