Amazon Prime Video Rs 129 Monthly Subscription Is Back Posted: 08 Oct 2021 07:16 AM PDT One of the most popular over-the-top (OTT) content platforms in India, Amazon Prime Video has brought back its monthly subscription plan worth Rs 129 in India. The plan was discontinued a few months back because of the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) demand for the implementation of an additional factor of authentication (AFA) for processing recurring payments. Due to this rule, Amazon trimmed down its offerings to only two subscription plans in India. These plans were – 3 months and 12 months plan. Amazon Prime Video Subscription PlansAmazon Prime Video is now available in three different subscription models. The first one for a month comes for Rs 129, the second one for three months comes for Rs 329, and the third one for a year or 12 months comes for Rs 999. Note that the Rs 129 monthly plan of Amazon Prime Video can only be purchased through select debit and credit cards. Customers of any or all the banks which have not complied with the RBI's e-mandate guidelines will not be able to purchase the monthly plan. Because of the new rule, now the recurring payments ask for an additional factor of authentication (AFA) for the transaction to be complete. This is a good rule for people who forget to cancel their subscriptions at times. The new rule came into place starting October 1, 2021. The plan is already visible on the website of Amazon and can be bought by users holding debit or credit cards from eligible banks. Further, it is worth remembering that because of the implementation of the new rules, Amazon also had to discontinue its one month free trial for people signing up for the first time. Regardless, the Rs 129 subscription plan is now available on the website of Amazon, and it is great for users who don't want to enter into a long-term engagement with the corporate's services.

Apple iPhone SE 3 Could Replace iPhone 14 Mini Variant Posted: 08 Oct 2021 06:02 AM PDT The iPhone SE models have been quite successful among fans as they are affordable and come with the premiumness of an iPhone. The next-generation model that is speculated to be launched in this lineup is the iPhone SE 3. Now, fresh speculation by the Japanese Apple blog Macotakara has claimed that the iPhone SE 3 will not arrive with a design revamp and will resemble the existing model in the SE series. Apparently, the iPhone SE could be launched with the same 4.7-inch LCD display and a Touch ID home button. On the other hand, previous speculations suggest that a more significant design change could be expected with this upcoming model. Apple iPhone SE 3 RumoursFurthermore, iPhone SE 3 rumours suggest that the device could feature the most powerful Apple A15 Bionic chip that was used by the iPhone 13 series. With this processor, the affordable iPhone series could arrive with 5G connectivity support. Also, the blog expects that the production of the new models could debut in December and start shipping in spring 2022. In June this year, Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known Apple analyst also predicted that the 2022 iPhone SE could maintain the same design for the chassis. While it will retain the same chassis and display size, it will get 5G support and spec bump. On the contrary, there are other reports suggesting that the iPhone SE that could be launched next could feature a relatively larger 5.5-inch display and have a side-mounted Touch ID. Last year, the same analyst came up with the idea of an iPhone SE Plus. However, these rumours are just in the discussion stage and it remains to be seen if the iPhone SE 3 could arrive as a replacement for the iPhone 13 mini or the low-end model in the iPhone 14 series. The Cupertino tech giant is expected to follow the spring launch schedule for the iPhone SE 3. Notably, the first iPhone SE was launched in March 2016 and the second-generation variant was launched in April last year. However, an official confirmation is awaited from Apple.

Indians Will Consume Much More Data With 5G Posted: 08 Oct 2021 01:19 AM PDT Indians will consume much more data when the 5G networks come to the country. There are a lot of people who are still not on 4G networks, and that is not because of a singular reason, but multiple ones. As per an Opensignal report, countries that have live 5G networks have seen a rise in data consumption from the 5G users. According to the data shared by Opensignal, 5G users are consuming up to 2.7 times more data as compared to 4G. However, in a network congested market like India, where the data consumption is already very high, naturally, one would believe that the 5G experience would not be so great as in other countries. But that might not be true. 5G Networks in India Might Not be as Congested as 4G NetworksAccording to the data collected by Opensignal, 5G users in the top 20 leading markets are enjoying higher download speeds and consuming more data than 4G users without any network congestion issues. Historically, whenever there's high data consumption/demand, networks see some level of congestion. But that hasn't been noticed by Opensignal until now. In India, too, users would hope that the same thing happens. Most of the Indians, especially in urban cities, are connected to highly congested networks. This is because of the cheap 4G data that is available for everyone. With 5G, too, the operators will have to be very careful with the pricing to ensure that premium services can be delivered. But 5G networks will naturally have a higher capacity which will help to a large extent to escape network congestion scenarios. Further, with 5G plans, operators can take a different route and price them in the 'premium' zone while improving 4G networks. This is so that people who can pay more for premium service will opt for 5G plans, and people who want to keep consuming normal high-speed data services can opt for 4G plans.

For the unaware, the M1X chipset is an advanced version of the M1, and it is expected to power the new 14-inch and 16-inc MacBook Pros. Now, new leaks about the upcoming Apple laptop have surfaced. | BSNL Offering Rs 600 Price Reduction on FTTH Plans Posted: 07 Oct 2021 10:11 PM PDT Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) runs one of the biggest and widest fixed-line broadband businesses in India. The telco is present in services areas where the likes of Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel aren't even present. Now BSNL has brought back an old offer for the people looking to get a new fiber broadband connection in their homes or offices. BSNL will be giving users up to Rs 600 off/discount when they migrate to an FTTH connection from their landline connection. FTTH is the future of broadband and it is being heavily adopted across the country just because it is as affordable as a DSL connection and offer much better speeds. BSNL Landline Users Can Up to Rs 600 Off on Their New FTTH ConnectionSo it won't be a direct or flat Rs 600 discount for the users. The state-run telco will offer the discount benefit over a period of 6 months by giving Rs 100 discounts every month. Only BSNL landline users can get this offer from the company. The Rs 100 discount will be applicable on the broadband bill for the users for every month up till 6 months from the date of activation. This is a promotional offer that BSNL will be running for 90 days and as per Keralatelecom, this offer came into effect from October 6, 2021, and will expire on January 3, 2022. The offer is available for users across all the telecom circles. As mentioned above, this is not a new scheme from BSNL. The state-run telecom operator had launched the scheme way back in June 2021. It was also for 90 days and it expired on September 12, 2021. Now the offer has made its way back and users migrating from their landline connection to FTTH connection can take advantage of it. This is not a very big discount, but it will still be beneficial for users to receive something against nothing. |
Reliance Jio 5G Strategy Will Not be Easy to Accomplish: Ookla Posted: 07 Oct 2021 08:57 PM PDT The time for the rollout of 5G networks in India is not that far anymore. The spectrum auctions can take place in a few months, and as per Airtel CTO Randeep Sekhon, the 5G networks can go live within two-quarters of the auction. The top telecom operator in India, Reliance Jio, is planning to go with Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) route with its 5G networks. There are many benefits of going with the O-RAN route and building your own infrastructure. But according to Ookla's co-founder and CEO, Doug Suttles, O-RAN also poses quite a few challenges. Suttles said that the cost of building such a network would be an advantage over time, but he also mentioned that it is a "risky way" to go since not a lot of such networks are present throughout the world. Suttles was basically saying that something that has not been done before a lot might have unexpected challenges, and it may take some time for Jio to figure it out. O-RAN Will be the Future Says SuttlesAccording to a Financial Express report, Suttles said that O-RAN would be the future of the wireless world. Ookla CEO said that this is just Reliance Jio's way of pushing the cutting-edge technology earlier so that the networks can be managed with the help of the cloud and the software in hopes of full automation. Suttles believe that O-RAN will be much more affordable in the future; however, it will also be a very challenging way to roll out 5G networks right now because there's not much experience for the world in O-RAN. The 5G spectrum auctions are expected to happen in the first quarter of CY22. But it may be delayed depending on when the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) might come out with the new price recommendations for the spectrum in different bands.
Vodafone Idea Offers the Best 56 Days Prepaid Plan Posted: 07 Oct 2021 06:23 PM PDT Vodafone Idea (Vi), the third-largest telecom operator in India, offers users the best 56 days prepaid plan. Its rivals Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel fall behind here. From the best-prepaid plan, we mean a plan that offers the most amount of benefits for a very reasonable price. The 56 days plan from Vi that we are talking about comes with the additional benefit of the Double Data offer. Not only this, but the company also provides the Weekend Data Rollover offer and the Binge All Night offer to the users. Let's take a look at the plan that we are talking about and see what Jio and Airtel have to offer against the same. Vodafone Idea Rs 449 Prepaid PlanIf you are unaware of this plan, then you have been living under a rock. The Rs 449 prepaid plan from Vodafone Idea comes with 4GB of daily data. In some circles, where this plan doesn't come with the double data offer, users get 2GB of daily data. Its validity is of 56 days. This plan also offers users unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS/day. There is an additional benefit of Vi Movies & TV. As mentioned above, the company also provides the Weekend Data Rollover and Binge All Night offers with the plan. The Weekend Data Rollover offer allows users to consume all the leftover data from the weekdays (Monday to Friday) on the weekends (Saturday-Sunday). All the data that's not been consumed by a user in a week will be expired. Further, with the Binge All Night offer from the company, Vi users can download and upload, basically consume as much data as they want without affecting the fair-usage-policy (FUP) data limit of the day. The Binge All Night offer is applicable for users between 12 AM and 6 AM every day of the week. First's thing first, Reliance Jio doesn't offer a single 56 days plan that comes with more than 2GB of daily data. It would have been good if Jio offered one plan with at least 3GB of daily data with a validity of 56 days. At the same time, you will get the 3GB daily data plan from Bharti Airtel for Rs 558. Airtel also offers Airtel Thanks benefits, unlimited voice calling, and 100 SMS/day. But in this case, Vi's plan is the clear winner because it is not only cheap but also offers the best benefits out of each private telecom operator. However, the Rs 449 plan with double data is not available in every telecom circle in India.
