| Simple Broadband Internet Tips for Boosting Online Gaming Experience Posted: 01 Nov 2021 09:01 AM PDT If you are a gaming enthusiast and are involved in playing online games, then you will know the significance of having a reliable internet connection. Imagine yourself in a nail-biting agony as you wait for the buffering to stop and your internet to get back to the active state amidst an important milestone in your game. To avoid such a scenario, you need to have a high-speed broadband connection. Broadband Internet Tips To Boost Online Gaming ExperienceHere, we have listed ten simple hacks to maximise the efficiency of your broadband connection for an improved online gaming experience. Wi-Fi network: Check the signal strength of the Wi-Fi connection via mobile apps destined for this purpose. These apps will show you where you will receive the strongest signal in your home, and you can place gaming device accordingly. Antenna: Most modern routers feature antennas, and you need to align on antenna parallel with that on the gaming device for significant improvement in the online gaming experience. Interference: Make sure to shift radio frequency wave emitting devices away from your gaming device as these can cause interference when they are positioned near the gaming console. Multiple devices: While playing online games over Wi-Fi, make sure that the home network is not overcrowded with several devices that are connected simultaneously. When there is congestion, the Wi-Fi speed will drop. Downloads: There is an increased possibility that the downloads running in the background of your laptop or PC will slow down the game. Make sure to shut down all downloads for improved gaming performance. Router placement: The latest routers might sometimes fail to give you the desired performance due to their placement. Position the router where there are ample surfaces for signals to bounce off and reach the gaming device. Restart: At times, the router might need a simple restart that might act as a quick fix and resolve its inefficiency. Schedule a timely reboot of the router for uninterrupted gaming experiences. Router dead spots: There could be some dead spots in your home where the Wi-Fi signal will be nil. You should find out these dead spots and not place your gaming device in such places. Channel: Routers with multi-channel connections provide the opportunity to switch the channels and use the channel with the least interference. Upgrade: When none of the above-mentioned tips works, you need to upgrade your router for the best online gaming experience. |

| Apple Likely to Add Crash Detection Feature for iPhones and Apple Watch Posted: 01 Nov 2021 07:26 AM PDT It looks like Apple is all set to add a new crash detection to the iPhone and Apple Watch models next year. A new report by the Wall Street Journal suggests that the feature could auto-dial 911 in the instances of a car accident. The same will be detected using an iPhone or Apple Watch. The Apple devices have already detected over 10 million suspected vehicle impacts. Apple Tests Crash Detection FeatureThe crash detection feature in question will work by measuring a sudden spike in gravity or g forces in instances of an impact, notes the report. It is alleged that the feature has been under testing for over a year by collecting anonymous data from the users of Apple iPhone and Apple Watch devices, hinted documents about this feature. Notably, Apple products have detected over 10 million suspected vehicle impacts. Of these, over 50,000 impacts included a call to the emergency number 911. The tech giant has been using the 911 call data to enhance the accuracy of its crash detection algorithm since an emergency call that is associated with a possible impact might give Apple more confidence, which is indeed a car crash. This crash detection feature is all set to be rolled out in 2022, which could be a part of iOS 16 and watchOS 9. However, the report notes that the timing of arrival of this feature could change or the company might not release it. For those who are unaware, this feature sounds quite similar to the existing fall detection capability of the Apple Watch, which was first added to the Series 4 model. While it could be turned off by default for users under 65, anyone can turn it on using the Watch app on their iPhones. The fall detection feature works by detecting when a sudden fall occurs, calling emergency services automatically if the wearer doesn't dismiss the alert in one minute of falling. If the person's emergency contact information is filled out, the contact will be notified with a text message and a map showing the watch's location at the time of the fall. We can expect further details regarding the crash detection feature to be revealed in the near future. |

Also, it is tipped to change the market consensus that AR and VR devices are meant for gaming. As per reports, the Apple mixed reality headset could be similar to the Oculus Quest. Some prototypes of the device that were being tested are likely to flaunt external cameras that could enable a slew of AR features. It is believed that the upcoming headset from Apple could feature a minimum of 15 camera modules and eye-tracking in the form of long-rumoured iris recognition. Also, it is expected to sport a high-resolution display, thereby letting users read small bits of text while they see other people in front of them simultaneously. To recall, back in August this year, Tim Cook, the Apple CEO stated that he will be holding his position in 10 years' time and that he wants to oversee another major new product launch from the company before he steps down. After much delay, it looks like the upcoming Samsung smartphone will reportedly see the light of the day at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022 that will be hosted early next year. Now, a SamMobile report has confirmed that the CES 2022 could debut in Las Vegas, US, on January 5, 2022. The tech show is all set to be hosted until January 8. Samsung Galaxy S21 FE should have been announced already but there were a string of unfortunate events that forced the company to delay its unveiling. DoT had announced the 5G Hackathon last year to see which relevant use cases of 5G for India can be identified. Through the 5G Hackathon, the best and most relevant 5G use cases were selected. Vodafone Idea to Test Unmanned Aerial Traffic Management With 5GThe telco has partnered with Vizzbee Robotics Solution for testing the Unmanned Aerial Traffic Management (UTM) and the Management Server (Aerobridge) with the 5G network. The company calls it 'ACT Basic'. This is the minimum speed broadband plan that ACT users in Bengaluru get. Even Bharti Airtel's fiber broadband service namely Airtel Xstream Fiber offers a 40 Mbps plan to the users in Bengaluru. The thing is, in front of Airtel's offering, not only is ACT's plan more expensive but also offers lesser benefits. Here's everything you should know. | JioPhone Next Price Doesn’t Justify Company’s Aim Posted: 31 Oct 2021 10:13 PM PDT The JioPhone Next has been revealed in India and will come for Rs 6,499. The company has chosen to go with a rather high price than the market expectations. The whole aim of the JioPhone Next was to bring a super affordable Android smartphone for the Indian market with a strong software experience. While I can't comment much on the software experience at the moment, there's one thing that is pretty unsettling – the price of the JioPhone Next. The price at which the JioPhone Next has been revealed is the same price where other entry-level Android smartphones are present as well. Jio was expected to use the JioPhone Next as a lever for moving the 2G phone users in India to 4G devices. Chairman and MD of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Mukesh Ambani, has multiple times shared his vision of 2G Mukt India. But the price of the device doesn't justify the company's aim. JioPhone Next Price Exorbitant for ManyThe device would have made a compelling case if it was priced around the Rs 5,000 mark. With the EMI schemes, customers will have to pay Rs 1,999; add to this the processing fee of Rs 501. It will make the upfront price of the smartphone Rs 2500. The EMI schemes also involve data and voice calling benefits. Either of the schemes asks the customer to at least pay more than Rs 7,000 or more for the smartphone. Some schemes take the amount to be more than Rs 15,000 at the end. The thing is, not everyone can afford this price. People who can would rather take a decent Android smartphone from Chinese brands such as Xiaomi in the Rs 15,000 price range in EMIs. With the JioPhone Next, if the device is not decent in software and Android experience, people might avoid it completely. However, some people might go for the device based on the fact that it is made in India. The other entry-level smartphones at this price range are mostly from Chinese brands. The JioPhone Next just provides an Indian option at the Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000 price range. People who can should purchase the smartphone directly by paying the upfront cost of Rs 6,499. It is a better deal, and then keep recharging with their preferred plans. This would also save them Rs 501 that they have to pay as a processing fee for purchasing the device in an EMI. This device doesn't look like the one to convert 2G users to 4G. But it is too early to say how its impact is going to be on the market. It will be worth the wait to see how Jio markets it in the near future and how the device helps it in adding new users. |
| DoT Might Do Something That Telcos Don’t Want Posted: 31 Oct 2021 08:45 PM PDT The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) might go ahead and come out with a way to allocate spectrum administratively. The telcos have opposed this as they believe everyone should get the spectrum through a fair route of auction. In fact, this would be an unprecedented move from the DoT. According to a Financial Express report, the DoT is thinking about how it can administratively allocate spectrum in the future. The telecom department feels that the spectrum available is abundant with respect to the number of telecom operators present in the market. Post the entry of Reliance Jio in the market, most of the telecom companies went out of business. Spectrum Auction Route Creating Hindrances for Satcom, BackhaulBecause there's only one way of allocating spectrum in India, which is through an auction, it is creating hindrances for emerging applications such as satcom and also creates problems for strengthening the backhaul. Thus, administratively allocating the spectrum could be a useful move in the future. DoT believes that there should be more modes of allocating spectrum than just the auction route. The telecom department wants to identify and map down a clear policy about how this can be done. The Supreme Court in the past had said that the spectrum must be allocated through the auction route only. Since it is a natural resource that is scarce in nature, the apex court had said that the auction route is the best way to go for maintaining transparency. The report mentioned that DoT might seek legal opinion on the matter. The telecom operators recently opposed the move of allocating spectrum administratively to the corporates for creating private 5G networks. Further, the telcos don't want even the satcom companies to get spectrum allocated in any other way than through an auction. This is because the telcos believe anyone who wants spectrum should get it the same as they are getting it to keep things fair and transparent. |
