How to Solve Fluctuating Broadband Wi-Fi Problem?

Posted: 10 Nov 2021 06:58 AM PST

Broadband WiFi Problems If you are facing interruptions in your Wi-Fi performance, then you need to know how to stabilise the same to achieve the best possible connection. There are a few Wi-Fi troubleshooting techniques that will be helpful, especially at times when getting a technician could be heavily taxing. Before you start tinkering with the router, ensure that you run speed tests on your Wi-Fi network.

How to Solve Fluctuation Broadband Wi-Fi Problem

Check out the tips to stabilise your Wi-Fi connection from here. Restart the router: Firstly, the classic method to fix any electronics is to restart it. The foremost suggestion is to restart your router and initiate the setup process. This will disconnect the router from the devices and the network and reconnect. This will prevent your router marginally from slowing down due to years of operation. Move the router: Solid concrete walls, wooden furniture and ceilings will affect the Wi-Fi connection or block it completely. Based on the floor plan, you need to position the router to experience a difference. Hardwire everything that needs Ethernet: Usually, excessive loads on the Wi-Fi network will result in poor or low connectivity. So, hardwire your devices such as smart TV or desktop that can work on Ethernet to eliminate congestion on the network. Enable dual-band support: If your router supports dual-band connectivity, then make sure to turn it on to get higher Wi-Fi speeds. This way, more devices can connect to the 5 GHz bands and offer the best Wi-Fi connection. Remove unwanted Wi-Fi devices: There could be some unwanted guests or intruders. These unauthorised devices will enter your network when there is no security. So, make sure no one is hogging the bandwidth of your network. This can be done by using a strong password that cannot be broken. Use extenders: If you live in multi-storied buildings and very large apartment spaces, then a single Wi-Fi router will not be enough. In this case, you can get one or multiple Wi-Fi range extenders from the same brand to get a good Wi-Fi speed and reception and improve its bandwidth. Update the router's firmware: Modern routers come with easy customisation options with an easy-to-understand user interface. You can update the firmware of the router to make sure it has all the new features and ensures superior connectivity as compared to dated routers. If this does not work, then you need to upgrade the router itself. Check support for latest standards: To have a continued experience, you need to make sure both ends are tied up without any issue. You should check if the router and clients are communicating on the latest standards or not. Currently, there are new technologies such as Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E that deliver Gigabit speeds. So, run performance tests to confirm the Wi-Fi performance. Contact your ISP: If none of these techniques work, you need to contact the ISP. Raise a complaint with the customer care and you will be sent an authorised technician to troubleshoot the network.

TSSC Says India Might Need 2.2 Crore Skilled Workers in Telecom Sector

Posted: 10 Nov 2021 03:51 AM PST

Telecom Sector India might require a whopping 22 million or 2.2 crore skilled manpower within 2025 as the country is taking a giant leap into the next-generation 5G-led technologies including AI, IoT, cloud computing and robotics, noted the telecom skills body. As per ET Telecom citing the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC)'s chief executive, Arvind Bali, there is a huge workforce in the need to upskill themselves to match the huge demand in the industry. According to him, India is poised to become a global supplier of human resources and electronics. To achieve this, there is a need to create an extended skill network with both academia and industry participation.

India Needs Skilled Workforce

Set up by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA), the Gurugram-based telecom skills council is a non-profit organisation that will ensure the availability of a skilled workforce within the industry. Bali added that India is ripe with talent. He stated that the country is home to the largest pool of human resources in the world and it is important that we leverage the advantage over other countries. An alignment of vocational training and education will be the ideal way to bridge this gap in skills. Currently, India employs nearly 4 million workers, which is close to 60 percent direct workforce that is employed with telecom operators including BSNL, Reliance Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea and multinational technology vendors including Nokia, Ericsson, Huawei, Juniper, ZTE, Ciena and Cisco. With the expansion in the labour force in the manufacturing of electronics equipment via the newly launched production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme. Furthermore, he noted that the industry has identified the lack of skilled workers that has triggered a huge demand for upskilling the existing and new workers. Back in October, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) stated that India is expected to receive nearly Rs 3,300 crore investment from 31 local and international companies over a period of four years. While the number of skilled workforce is said to be increased, the COVID-19 pandemic has made nearly 70,000 people lose their jobs since its outbreak in 2020. The majority of layoffs were related to the sectors of telecom operations, technology systems integrators, distribution channel representatives and internet providers.

BSNL Rs 2399 Plan Could be a Good Long-Term Option

Posted: 10 Nov 2021 02:01 AM PST

BSNL Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is somehow managing to keep the interest of users by rolling out some exceptional promotional offers time and again. Multiple prepaid plans from the telco are offering additional days of service for a limited time. One such plan is the Rs 2399 plan that is available across all the telecom circles in the country. If you are thinking of getting a long-term prepaid plan today, the Rs 2399 plan from BSNL could be a great option because of the additional days of service that it is offering.

BSNL Rs 2399 Plan Offering 60 Days of Additional Service

BSNL is offering 60 days of additional service with the Rs 2399 plan. This plan used to come with 365 days of service validity. But under a limited period offer, its plan will give 425 days of service validity to the users. The benefits of the plan over the 60 days of additional service will be the same. BSNL users get 3GB of daily data along with unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS/day with the Rs 2399 plan. So, instead of getting 1085GB of data for 365 days, users will get 1265GB of data with the plan. Further, BSNL is offering free BSNL Tunes and access to the over-the-top (OTT) platform Eros Now. For the same price, Reliance Jio offers 2GB of daily data and 365 days of validity while Airtel offers its 365 days plan with 2GB daily data for Rs 2498. Reliance Jio's 3GB daily data plan with year-long validity comes for Rs 3,499 which is Rs 1,100 more expensive. Vodafone Idea on the other hand offers 1.5GB daily data with 365 days validity for Rs 2399. Thus, if you are looking for a long-term prepaid plan with a ton of benefits, the Rs 2399 plan from BSNL is way better than the plans from its competitors. However, there's one downside of using a BSNL prepaid plan — the lack of PAN-India 4G coverage.

Vodafone Idea, Nokia Test 5G in Rural India, Deliver 100+ Mbps Speed

Posted: 09 Nov 2021 11:20 PM PST

Vodafone Idea Vodafone Idea (Vi) partnered with Nokia to test 5G networks in rural India. The telco announced that it was able to deliver connectivity with a download speed of more than 100 Mbps across an area covering 17.1 kilometres. For the trial, Vodafone Idea used spectrum in the 3.5 GHz band allocated by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). The rural site used by the telco was in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. As mentioned above, Vodafone Idea had partnered with Nokia for conducting the trials and hence used the network equipment provided by the Finnish company.

Vodafone Idea Using Nokia's AirScale Radio Portfolio, Microwave E-Band Solution

In a release from the company, it was said that for conducting 5G trials in India, Vodafone Idea has been leveraging Nokia's AirScale Radio Portfolio products and Microwave E-Band solution. Jagbir Singh, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Vodafone Idea, said that due to accelerated digitalisation over the last two years, the dependency on high-speed broadband and the need to connect the people who are unconnected has risen. Singh said that Vodafone Idea, in partnership with Nokia, is working on providing solutions and use cases based on high-speed 5G coverage in rural areas. Sanjay Malik, Senior VP and Head of India Market, Nokia, said the company's fixed wireless access (FWA) 5G solution is helping telecom service providers (TSPs) such as Vodafone Idea to be able to extend the 5G coverage to remote areas. Malik added that Vodafone Idea had been Nokia's long-standing partner, and the company is pleased to help and support the telco in successfully testing 5G. Vodafone Idea has been working very aggressively to test 5G across different use-cases, including the innovative ones. Just a few days back, the company had announced that it has partnered with two startups to test 5G networks for innovative use cases, which Airtel and Jio haven't said they are doing too.

Satcom and Telcos at Difference Over mmWave 5G Spectrum

Posted: 09 Nov 2021 10:30 PM PST

Satcom 5G India is currently very far from seeing live commercial 5G networks. Like we have said before, the delay is not a bad thing. However, there are a few things that India needs to get clarity on as fast as possible. One of those things is the allocation of spectrum to the telecom service providers (TSPs) and the satellite communications (satcom) companies. 2022 would not only see heavy developments in the 5G segment, but also the satcom industry will grow with the arrival of global private players such as Starlink, OneWeb, and more. Both the TSPs and satcom players will require the crucial millimetre wavelength (mmWave) spectrum for providing high-speed connectivity services.

Satcom Companies Recommend Reserving a Portion of mmWave Band for Satellite Broadband

The satcom companies have recommended that there should be a reserved amount of spectrum for both the TSPs and the satellite broadband players so that there's no interference in providing services. According to a Business Standard report, a proposal for only offering mmWave spectrum in the 24.5 GHz to 28.5 GHz band to the mobile operators for providing 5G services is being discussed by the relevant authorities. However, the telcos don't have the spectrum to be reserved this way for them. They want to get access to even higher frequency bands. Reliance Jio has said the same to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). Jio said that a phased spectrum auction would hit the roll-out of 5G services in India. The decision regarding the 5G spectrum auctions by the DoT will be very crucial and something that both the satcom players and the telecom operators would be looking forward to. The new National Frequency Allocation Policy (NFAP) is yet to come, and it will be heavily influenced by the recommendations that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) puts forth. The TRAI is currently considering the fresh base price for the 5G spectrum bands, which will also include spectrum in the 600 MHz band.

5G Smartphones Getting More Traction in India

Posted: 09 Nov 2021 09:12 PM PST

5G Smartphones While the 5G services are yet to be rolled out in India, there is a surge in the shipment of 5G smartphones. These devices have gained traction and accounted for 22% of the overall market share in Q3 2021, claims a report by CyberMedia Research (CMR). As per the new CMR India Mobile Handset Market Review Report for the third quarter of this year, over 20 5G-enabled smartphones were launched during the September quarter.

Growth In 5G Smartphones Shipments

Notably, it added that the 5G smartphone shipments have gained traction across various price points and continue contributing to the availability, affordability and accessibility. Shipra Sinha, the CMR Analyst-Industry Intelligence Group, stated that the smartphone brands including Samsung, Vivo, Realme, Oppo and OnePlus have started prioritising on 5G and consumers are looking forward to being future-proof with these next-generation devices. Sinha went on to state that these five brands have shipped an excessive number of 5G smartphones accounting for over $3 billion during the September 2021 quarter. Vivo led the 5G smartphone segment with over an 18% market share. Samsung trails behind with a market share of 16%, claimed the report. For the whole year, CMR suggests that a potential 5% to 8% year-on-year growth could be seen in the smartphone shipments. When it comes to the fourth quarter, CMR expects the ongoing supply constraints, logistics costs, and high components along with high retail costs will challenge the smartphone brands. On the demand front, it will be supported by the availability of affordability schemes targeted at smartphone buyers who want to upgrade their devices to experience better specced 5G devices. During the recently concluded festive season sales, there was a strong demand for smartphone upgrades, which was aided by aggressive offers that gave buyers value for money and premium offerings from various brands, added the report. In Q4 2021 and beyond, we will continue to witness the supply chain constraints and smartphone brands that augment their component supplies and plan their market outreach strategies in advance to be able to succeed. The report anticipates that the consumer sentiment will remain robust all through this period.

Vodafone Idea Could Get Easier Repayment Terms from Banks

Posted: 09 Nov 2021 07:30 PM PST

Vodafone Idea Vodafone Idea (Vi) could soon get easier repayment terms from the banks. But this will only happen if the promoters of the company pitch in with additional capital or if the telco somehow manages to raise fresh funds. According to an ET Telecom report, Vodafone Idea is currently in talks with the banks and lenders, including the State Bank of India (SBI), which alone has an exposure of about Rs 11,000 crore. Vodafone Idea has an exposure of nearly Rs 14,000 crore in total, and if the talks with the banks and lenders go successfully, the pressure from the telco for repayment of dues will be lifted majorly.

Lenders Not Afraid of Vodafone Idea's Future Anymore

Before the relief measures were announced, everyone right from investors, loyal customers, and the banks/lenders were worried about Vodafone Idea going out of business. But the government has ensured that the relief measures remove that worry. As per the publication's report, Vodafone Idea has informed the lenders that there are global investors who are interested in helping with raising funds that will be used for enhancing the infrastructure. Vodafone Idea's shares closed at Rs 10.43 on Tuesday, 6.2% higher on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). There are reports saying that Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group (ABG), is planning to infuse his own capital of around $200 million in the telco. At the same time, the Vodafone Group of the UK might sell a stake in the Indus Towers to raise funds for investing in Vodafone Idea. Since Vi has accepted the four-year moratorium on payments of the spectrum and adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues, the telco is in a much better position than it used to be. Banks really don't have any reason to be worried about Vodafone Idea now. The telco has enough time to grow, and also the relief measures allow it to improve cash flow.

The unreliable nature of Wi-Fi can be the result of many factors that will affect its coverage, speed and overall reliability.

Why Does Your Broadband Wi-Fi Fluctuate?

Here, we have listed the most annoying reasons that might make your Wi-Fi connection unstable and poor. Check out these points from here. Physical distance: The physical distance between the Wi-Fi router and devices is the prime reason for the poor connectivity. The farther the distance, the poorer connectivity you will get. Obstructions: The presence of wooden furniture and concrete walls are a nightmare for Wi-Fi strength as it can partially absorb or block the signal, especially on 5GHz or higher spectrum devices. Interference: Wi-Fi signals are transmitted over the same frequency bands as microwave ovens, cell phones and RF devices and can be easily interfered. So, make sure your neighbours do not meddle with it. Using only one router: If you live in a big mansion, then a single router cannot serve all nooks and corners of your home, especially due to walls that will block the signals. Router performance: You need to use a recent-generation router to meet all our requirements. The routers that are pre-included in your broadband package might not perform as intended. Excessive bandwidth consumption: The problem could be due to the Wi-Fi router's capacity as it can be overwhelmed with unnecessary or intruding devices that consume high bandwidth. Lack of hardwiring: Smartphones and laptops require Wi-Fi for while PCs and TVs can have wired connections. Eventually, offloading any excess stress on your Wi-Fi is important for a stable connection. Poor optimisations: You can configure how your Wi-Fi plays an underrated role to ensure that the Wi-Fi connection is stabilised. The signal will deteriorate if you are not using the maximum number of channels supported by the router. Additional router features: The latest routers come with pre-loaded features such as an inbuilt VPN, an app control and more. These can limit or impact the Wi-Fi speed. Damaged infrastructure: Try to spot the wear and tear on the fibre line or coaxial cable coming to your house. It could be damaged due to harsh weather, thereby impacting the connection.

Oppo May Bring 125W Flash Charge Technology with its Next Flagship Device

Posted: 09 Nov 2021 06:23 AM PST

Oppo According to the recent rumors, Oppo Find X4 can be launched as a successor to the Oppo Find X3 which was launched this year in various countries across the globe, not including India. The speculations about the features of the phone roaming around in the market are plenty, but various rumours suggest what could be headlining aspect of the device. The upcoming Oppo Find X4 may feature a 125W fast wired charging technology which could be a game-changer and could charge a 65W chargeable battery in half the time.

The Features of 125W Flash Charge Technology

The 125W flash charge technology was announced by Oppo last year but since then there hasn't been a device featuring the technology and neither has Oppo shared any plans to use it. But with what could be Oppo's next flagship device, likely to be called Find X4, it is expected that we will witness the 125W flash charge technology. To put it in the perspective, a 125W charging could fully charge a 4000mAh battery in around twenty minutes which is half the time it takes currently for 65W charging to charge an Oppo or Realme device. Moreover, Oppo had also revealed a 65W AirVOOC wireless charging technology which could be used in the Find X4 as well but there hasn't been any information on that either. Anyways, the introduction of 125W flash charge technology will definitely give Oppo an upper hand over its other competitors such as Samsung or Xiaomi. Xiaomi has been providing high-end charging technologies only on its premium devices and Samsung has been lacking behind Xiaomi in terms of charging technologies. However, when it comes to Oppo and Realme, they have been providing a 65W charging technology on the devices that costs under Rs 20,000 which already gives them an edge. In addition to this, Oppo Find X4 is also expected to use the unannounced Snapdragon 898 processor which is scheduled to be unveiled on November 30th at a Qualcomm event. However, the processor will be available only from the next year which leaves Oppo enough time to chart out the plans as they have been becoming the key players in the market.

The 'Play Something' feature that Netflix rolled out earlier, gives users the option to watch something random which is generally based on their interests and the type of content they have watched already. This kind of feature helps users of Netflix to discover more content, a solution for something which Netflix has been criticised for in the past. The 'Kids Clips', feature on Netflix will help the entity to promote content to its underage users. According to a report from Business Insider, the latest platform will be quite similar in design to that of TikTok or Instagram Reels. Netflix has already rolled out a section called 'Fast Laughs' a similar feature that consisted of quick snippets for its mature audience. However, Netflix will limit the time on the 'Kids Clips' section as to how much content a kid can consume at one go. Users will also have an option to directly go to the movie or show if they enjoy the snippet. This latest feature of Netflix will not be available to the Indian market as of now. The users of the USA and Latin America would be able to enjoy this feature before anyone else and according to the plans as of now, countries like Canada, Australia, and Ireland will follow the suit. Netflix has been focusing on its gaming content as well and is looking to diversify into various types of content in the near future while keeping the focus on its forte, the video content.
