BSNL 4G Expected Launch Delayed

Posted: 18 Nov 2021 11:14 AM PST

BSNL 4G Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is now expected to take more time for launching 4G networks. The telco's 4G trials have been extended now. The trials were supposed to finish by October 31, 2021. But that hasn't happened because Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) hasn't complied with all the norms of the Expression of Interest (EoI). BSNL wants TCS to comply with the EoI norms and use 40W radios. TCS has majorly used 20W radios for the sites which would increase the power requirement for running 4G sites.

BSNL 4G Trials Now Expected to Finish by December 31, 2021

According to a Financial Express report, the expected time from for BSNL to complete the 4G trials is now extended to December 31, 2021. If the state-run telco then takes almost 10 months from there to launch 4G services, it would mean that BSNL's 4G networks might only become a reality by the end of 2022. But that too depends on the condition that there are no more delays. The telco has extended the proof of concept (PoC) timeline till December 31, 2021. Further, there's also problems for the telco in upgrading the 2G and 3G sites to 4G in the south and west zones at a cost of Rs 567.35 crore. For the unaware, its proposal to upgrade the said sites were denied. All this additional time that BSNL is taking to roll out 4G services is eating away its chances of actually being able to make an impact in the market. The other operators would have enhanced the quality of their 4G services by a long margin until then. Further, even 5G might arrive in end by the end of 2022 or early 2023. BSNL requires 4G roll out very desperately and the delays must be very painful for the company. If there are any more delays, BSNL's 4G won't make any difference at all.

Vodafone Idea significantly improved its download and upload speed. Though the telecom company provides various exciting offers and plans for its customers, in this article we will focus on its 3GB daily data plans that come with OTT benefits.

Xiaomi 12 Ultra, Xiaomi 12 Ultra Enhanced Edition Specs Tipped

Posted: 18 Nov 2021 06:42 AM PST

Xiaomi 12 Ultra As reported earlier, the Chinese smartphone giant is looking forward to launching its latest flagship Xiaomi 12 series in December 2021. The smartphone may arrive just after the unveiling of the Snapdragon 898 by Qualcomm. It was also rumoured that Xiaomi is working on an Ultra model for the series. However, recent reports have surfaced suggesting that the makers are also planning to launch Xiaomi 12 Ultra Enhanced which will be an up-gradation to Xiaomi 12 Ultra. The reports have also speculated that both Xiaomi 12 Ultra and Xiaomi 12 Ultra Enhanced will be built upon the same ROM and source.

Speculations for the Ultra and Ultra Enhanced Model

Qualcomm is yet to launch its upcoming alleged powerful chipset Snapdragon 898. The Xiaomi 12 Ultra and Xiaomi 12 Ultra Enhanced, according to the reports, will operate on Snapdragon SM8450 which is expected to be Snapdragon 898. It was also previously reported that Xiaomi 12 Ultra could feature a 50MP rear camera and more rumored details have emerged about the same. Sources suggest that the device may feature a 50MP Samsung GN5 primary camera, however, there's a slight chance of the device featuring a 200MP snapper. Along with the primary camera, three additional 48MP cameras are expected to feature on the device with 2x, 5x, and 10x zoom capacities. The Ultra model of Xiaomi 12 could also feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. The Ultra series of Xiaomi 12 might be exclusively launched in China possibly in the 2nd quarter of 2022 just as in the case of Mi 11 Ultra which was launched earlier this year. It was also earlier speculated that the enhanced version will be more similar to the Redmi K50 series and hence it might feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. More details on the device may be available in the near future as there's still some time before the reveal of the series. If the reports are true and Snapdragon 898 will indeed be featured in the smartphone, the introduction of Qualcomm processors on such a large scale comes as good news for those who are fans of the processor. The Snapdragon processors have always been better than its major competitor Exynos chip variants when it comes to overall performance, battery life or thermal control.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra As reported earlier, the speculations are being made around the Samsung Galaxy S22 series, which is expected to launch in February of next year. The series is expected to consist of a trio of devices, namely Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Pro+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra. Sources suggest that devices will use two different chipsets depending on the market they are launched in. COAI Lauds Govt Effort for Targeting Telecom Services in Remote Areas

Posted: 18 Nov 2021 03:42 AM PST

COAI The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has lauded the Indian government's efforts of bringing telecom connectivity to remote regions of India. The government recently approved a Rs 6,466 crore package for ensuring that remote areas of the country are also connected with mobile networks. The project aims to bring 4G services to 7,287 uncovered villages in 44 aspirational districts across five different states. The industry body has welcomed the move from the government. Lt General Dr SP Kochhar, DG, COAI, said that this step from the centre is in line with the objectives of the National Broadband Mission for achieving equitable and universal broadband services across India.

USOF Will Empower the Goal

The money will be taken from the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF), which is a corpus of Rs 55,000 crore. For the unaware, the USOF was set up by the government in 2002 to ensure that every part of India could get access to digital services as fast as possible. The project is aimed to be completed in under 18 months. With 4G services reaching these villages, the telecom operators will get a chance to expand their business. At the same time, this move from the government will benefit the Indian economy in the longer run. Villages from Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh will be facilitated with the development of 4G networks in the next 18 months. Reaching 7,287 villages across five states with 4G networks in a matter of 18 months would be an amazing achievement for the government. It would have been more fruitful for the government had the state-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) had a 4G presence in the concerned states. COAI said that this move would help India in bridging the digital divide that exists between the rural and urban areas. Further, the government will be able to achieve the vision of Digital India faster.

TRAI Might Bring Reforms to Remove Disparity Between OTT and Pay TV

Posted: 18 Nov 2021 02:03 AM PST

TRAI The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) wants there should be no disparity between over-the-top (OTT) and pay-TV. In the past, many have called for the regulation of OTT platforms. But the government has so far allowed the OTT platforms to self-regulate so that they can produce the best content for the consumers. According to an Exchange4media report, PD Vaghela, Chairman, TRAI, speaking at the 10th edition of the CII Big Picture Summit on Wednesday, said 5G is going to enhance digital media, and a level playing field between the TV industry and the digital media should be ensured.

TRAI Has Consumer Interests in Mind

Vaghela noted that all that TRAI looks after is the interest of the consumers. While digital media and OTT platforms have seen a surge in content demand, the TV broadcast sector in India is still going to be a major contributor to the Indian M&E market in the next three to four years. Vaghela said that the pay-TV industry has only been able to reach 55% market penetration until now. This means that there is a large part of India which still doesn't have TV services. Thus there is a lot of room for the growth of the pay-TV industry. The TRAI chairman further said that the regulator is looking into the issues such as the disparity in channel prices. TRAI has received complaints from the pay Direct-to-Home (DTH) operators about the differential treatment of broadcasters. The broadcasters have been offering select channels for free on DD Free Dish while charging the DTH operators. The regulatory might soon bring in reforms regulating the OTT platforms to create a level playing field for both the pay-TV industry and the digital media. Vaghela also said that India must invest in adopting the pay-per-view or pay-per-programme system.

Vodafone Idea Expanding B2B Segment Fast

Vodafone Idea has been unable to make a huge impact with its B2C services. The mobile network of the company is said to be inferior to Bharti Airtel and Jio's networks. However, that's not the only source of revenue for the company. Vi understands the kind of revenues that can be generated through the enterprise business as well. The B2B market allows heavy deals to take place where marginal profits could be very higher than the B2C market. The telco is also looking for a person for the 'Segment and Content Marketing' role for handling and engaging with B2B content. These recent hirings of the company suggest that it is looking to double down on the enterprise sector as well. Even 5G is going to help the telcos boost their enterprise revenues by multiple folds, which is something Vodafone Idea would be looking forward to. Even Bharti Airtel is offering enterprise services to customers/clients across India.

BSNL Selfcare Has 500K Downloads With 4.3 Star Rating on Play Store

Posted: 17 Nov 2021 11:10 PM PST

BSNL Selfcare Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) recently introduced the 'BSNL Selfcare' application for users across India. On the Google Play Store, the app's total downloads show that the app has been installed more than 500k or 5,00,000 times. But not only this, the application has been rated 4.3 stars out of 5 stars which is definitely a big positive. BSNL's earlier mobile application was rusty and looked like an app built for the last decade. Many have pointed out that the application's user interface (UI) looks a lot like the Vodafone Idea's mobile app. But that's actually good. BSNL has definitely changed the way people purchase its plans online through the mobile app and check their remaining balance and data.

BSNL Selfcare App Features You Should Know About

The sole purpose of the BSNL Selfcare app is to help users manage their accounts and track usage of services. All of the prepaid plans offered by the company are listed inside the application. Further, the app also recommends certain packs to the users to make their life easier and save time. You can find everything inside the app related to the plan that you are looking for. This was a much-needed step from BSNL, and looking at the ratings that the app has received, it is comfortable to say that BSNL Selfcare is a successful application.

Why Rs 249 Prepaid Plan from Airtel is Best Short-Term Option

Posted: 17 Nov 2021 09:54 PM PST

Airtel Bharti Airtel offers users a Rs 249 prepaid plan, but so does Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea (Vi). All of the telcos offer this plan with the same validity, which is 28 days. But as TelecomTalk reported recently, Bharti Airtel is also offering additional bonus data with its Rs 249 plan. With Airtel's Rs 249 plan, users will get 500MB or 0.5GB of bonus data daily for the entire 28 days. Since the plan normally comes with 1.5GB daily data, with the bonus data added, it will become 2GB daily data. Users will have to redeem the bonus data from their Airtel Thanks application.

Jio Also Offers 2GB of Daily Data With the Rs 249 Plan, But Why Is Airtel Better?

Reliance Jio also offers 2GB daily data with its Rs 249 plan. Until recently, Jio's plan was the best when it came to spending Rs 249. But with the bonus data, Airtel has matched Jio's offering. On top of that, Airtel also offers users Airtel Thanks benefits. The Airtel Thanks benefits include a free subscription to Amazon Prime Video Mobile Edition for one month, Wynk Music, Shaw Academy, and more. However, with Jio's plan, you don't get such additional benefits. Jio offers basic subscriptions to Jio apps with its plan. Vodafone Idea offers 1.5GB of daily data with its plan. But it's in a league of its own. Even though it offers lesser data, the company bundles this plan with the Binge All Night and Weekend Data Rollover offers. So even Vi's Rs 249 plan is not out of the race, but again, many people might not use unlimited data offered between 12 AM and 6 AM every day. Thus, 1.5GB daily data could fall short for some, and that is why it is better to go for the Rs 249 offer from Bharti Airtel if you are looking for a short term plan.

Bharti Airtel Prepaid Plans With 3GB FUP Data for November

Posted: 17 Nov 2021 05:37 PM PST

Bharti Airtel 3GB Plans India's one of the leading service providers, Bharti Airtel, has constantly been coming up with plans for their customers that are in their interests. The company even closed the gaps with Reliance Jio according to the latest TRAI reports in terms of providing 4G data speed. Bharti Airtel significantly improved its download and upload speed in October 2021. Though the telecom company provides various exciting offers and plans for its customers, in this article, we will focus on its 3GB a day data plans.

3GB Plans from Bharti Airtel

The cheapest unlimited plan from Airtel that offers 3GB daily data comes for Rs 398. It carries a validity of 28 days only and comes with the benefit of unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS/day. Customers also get access to a free trial of the Over-The-Top (OTT) platform Disney+ Hotstar Mobile along with Apollo 24/7 Circle along with four additional subscriptions, including Wynk Music. The second plan from Airtel that comes with 3GB daily data is Rs 499. Even this plan comes with a validity of 28 days. The difference between this plan and the Rs 398 plan is the added benefit of Disney+ Hotstar VIP for one year. Users also get a free trial of mobile edition Amazon Prime Video and five more apps. There is unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS/day included with this plan as well. Then lastly, the Rs 558 plan from Airtel offers 3GB daily data with unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS/day. This plan comes with a longer validity of 56 days. Users get additional offers such as the free trial of the Amazon Prime Video mobile edition and Wynk Music, along with a few other applications. Unfortunately, there is no plan from Airtel that offers 3GB daily data and comes with the validity of 84 days like the one from Jio (Rs 999 plan). This is a huge let-down as potential customers are looking for heavy data plans with better validity. For such users, Reliance Jio fits the bill with its Rs 999 prepaid recharge. Dedicated customers of the service will be expecting a plan with improved validity and additional offers from the service provider in the near future.
