| Vodafone Idea Says 5G Will Bring in New Revenue Streams Posted: 26 Nov 2021 06:10 AM PST Vodafone Idea recently demonstrated the use cases of 5G networks in Pune, Maharashtra and Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Arvind Nevatia, Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Vodafone Idea, said that 5G would bring with itself new revenue models for the telcos and other ecosystem players. Nevatia said that 5G would enable new transaction systems and partnerships. However, Nevatia refrained from speaking about what exactly will these systems or partnerships will be. For the unaware, In October, Arvind Nevatia replaced Abhijit Kishore as the Chief Enterprise Business officer of Vodafone Idea. Vodafone Idea Investing in Enterprise BusinessVi Business, the enterprise arm of Vodafone Idea, might become a prominent source of revenues for the telco. 5G might act as a booster for the enterprise business of Vodafone Idea. The use cases demonstrated in the trials conducted recently were mostly meant for enterprises. TelecomTalk has reported in the past that Vodafone Idea has been hiring new people to grow its enterprise business. With the comments from Arvind Nevatia, it becomes apparent that Vi is planning to grow its enterprise business further. 5G is expected to directly benefit enterprises more than consumers. But this is the same drive that Bharti Airtel also has. Airtel's enterprise business is also popular as many companies across the country utilise its data centres, postpaid connections, and more. Vodafone Idea already has a ton of services under its business offerings, and many more might be added soon when 5G comes to life. Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio are conducting 5G trials in different parts of the country. Nevatia said that Vodafone Idea is keeping its mind very open about the revenue streams that can be built offering enterprise services and forming partnerships with the power of 5G networks. |

| Wi-Fi 6: A Much-Needed Upgrade Posted: 25 Nov 2021 06:49 PM PST The telecom operators have been investing millions in launching the 5G connectivity over the past few years. Also, they have been touting the benefits of the same though most devices usually spend a significant time being connected to Wi-Fi, especially laptops and PCs. Despite this fact, many users pay very little attention to enhancing their Wi-Fi network. Most users tuck their router in a corner and hardly take care of it. The fact that upgrading the home Wi-Fi for all-around internet connectivity is overlooked by many. This is where Wi-Fi 6 came into existence, and let's take a look at the importance of upgrading to the latest wireless standard. Wi-Fi 6: A Much-Needed UpgradeWi-Fi 6, referred to as 802.11ax, is the latest Wi-Fi standard. The routers compatible with Wi-Fi 6 have technically existed since 2019, but the technology did not make its way to the budget routers. The odds are that you might not have a Wi-Fi 6 router if you did not purchase the router sometime in 2021. The same also applies to those who use a router provided by their ISP. Though Wi-Fi 5 is fine, Wi-Fi 6 is a significant upgrade. It improves the same by providing new radio channels, which provide more bandwidth. Also, Wi-Fi 6 employs a pair of technologies – OFDMA and MU-MIMO to enhance the ability of the router to manage traffic between devices. It can deliver dramatically higher internet speeds, precisely a 50% improvement. However, these figures are not comparable to the maximum performance of the next-generation Wi-Fi connectivity. Interestingly, even the budget Wi-Fi 6 routers can deliver a better improvement in performance as compared to Wi-Fi 5 routers. While many know that Wi-Fi 6 is an upgrade, it also received an upgrade – the Wi-Fi 6E, which delivers improved performance. Wi-Fi 6E is almost similar to Wi-Fi 6, but it comes with a new 6 GHz wireless band. If you purchase a router that supports Wi-Fi 6E, then you need to use a device compatible with this standard. The new band has a very high frequency, which provides high bandwidth but faces issues at a long-range. So, to upgrade to Wi-Fi 6, you can buy a new Wi-Fi router that delivers the best value for your money right now and experience the benefits of the same. |
| Work from Home Broadband Plans from Airtel, Jio, BSNL, Vodafone Idea Posted: 25 Nov 2021 05:32 PM PST The devastating wave of the Covid-19 pandemic that took the world off its feet last year forced the majority of the industries and sectors to mandate their employees to work from the comforts of home. People shifted to work-from-home culture and the demand for unlimited plans increased substantially. Various Internet Service Providers (ISPs) of the country went on a head-to-head competition to provide better and attractive offers to their customers than their rivals. Although the ISPs provide a huge variety of plans with different internet speeds, in this article, we are going to look at some of the plans by the country's leading ISPs that offer internet speed under 100 Mbps and are best suited for people working from home. Airtel also provides 'Airtel Thanks Benefits' with its broadband plans which in this case includes a subscription to Wynk Music and Shaw Academy. The 30 Mbps Plan from JioJioFiber provides a 30 Mbps internet speed data plan at the price of Rs 399 per month. The FUP limit set on this plan is 3300Gb or 3.3TB. Using the 30 Mbps plan from JioFiber, customers can get access to smooth and seamless internet across multiple devices. Along with high-speed internet, users also get a symmetrical download and upload speed from the provider. This is rather one of the cheaper plans from the ISP and hence it doesn't include subscriptions to any OTT platform like the higher-priced plans from JioFiber, however, it is best suited for the customers who are looking for plans just to work from home. The Two Plans Under 100 Mbps by BSNLThe government-owned telecommunications company BSNL under Bharat Fibre Broadband provides exciting plans for its users who want to opt for less than 100 Mbps packs. The 'Fibre Basic' and 'Fibre Basic Plus' plans from BSNL provide 30 Mbps and 60 Mbps of internet speed respectively. The Fibre Basic plan comes at a price of Rs 449 per month whereas the Fibre Basic Plus costs users Rs 599 a month. Both these prices are exclusive of GST and both these plans come with a FUP limit of 3300GB or 3.3TB. | Poco X4 Could Launch in India Soon, Spotted at IEMI Database Posted: 25 Nov 2021 09:08 AM PST If the recent rumours are to be believed, we might witness the Poco X4 in Indian markets pretty soon after what has been a really long wait. Poco came up with its Poco X3 along with the NFC variant. However, India had the Poco X3 without the NFC variant. The wait for Poco X4 has been exhaustingly long also because the Poco X3 became the manufacturer's best-selling model and customers have been waiting for its sequel. But recent sources just might confirm the Indian launch of Poco X4. The Spotting of Two Devices from XiaomiIt is being reported that two devices by Xiaomi were spotted on the IEMI database and those two devices have a high probability of being Poco X4 and Poco X4 NFC. The listing has already confirmed the manufacturer's name to be Xiaomi and the brand name to be Poco. Additionally, the model numbers of these spotted devices also seem to be matching. For those who don't know, listing such as on the IEMI database does not provide the name of the devices rather is displayed by the model number of the device. The two devices spotted on the IEMI database have model numbers 2201116PG and 2201116PI. These happen to be the almost similar model number as Redmi Note 11 Pro (21091116I) which hints towards the fact that Poco X4 could be a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 11 Pro being launched by the Chinese smartphone giant. Sources suggest that 22001116PG could be the model number for Poco X4 NFC while the other could be for Poco X4.Expected Specifications of Poco X4If these reports are indeed true, then we might have an idea about the specifications of the device as it might be the rebranded version of Redmi Note 11 Pro which was launched in China in October of 2021. To recall, Redmi Note 11 Pro came with a 6.67-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 920 processor. The camera module on the device consisted of a triple rear camera setup which included a 108MP main snapper, an 8MP wide-angle sensor, and a 2MP macro camera. The device was also backed by a powerful 5160mAh battery and supported 67W fast charge technology. |

| Oppo Conducts First 5G VoNR Call Using Keysight’s SA Network Posted: 25 Nov 2021 05:45 AM PST Global smartphone brand Oppo conducted its first Voice/Video on New Radio (VoNR) call from its 5G innovation lab in Hyderabad. The calls were made using Oppo Reno6 series smartphone and an end-to-end 5G Standalone (SA) network powered by Keysight test solutions, its premium technology partner. The Keysight's E7515B UXM 5G wireless test platform, an integrated signalling test platform supporting the latest 3GPP Release 15 features, was used for the 5G VoNR experiment. The experiment enabled 5G calls with Oppo Reno6 smartphones in different 5G New Radio (NR) deployment modes, non-stand-alone (NSA), stand-alone (SA), and frequency bands in Sub6 and millimetre wave frequencies. In the testing process, the two UXM5G equipment emulate the 5G network and connect two devices over VoNR through the IMS utility. With this achievement, Oppo becomes one of India's first mobile phone brands to support VoNR calls under the SA architecture. VoNR offers better sound and image quality to usersVoNR is a call service that utilizes the SA architecture of the 5G network. It offers lower latency and enhanced sound and image quality, contributing to a better user experience. Stand-alone (SA) architecture is a premium architecture of 5G networks. Technology service providers are actively laying the foundations of SA architecture for 5G SA networks. Oppo has also been focusing on deploying solutions under the SA network. SA platforms imply the testing of devices with an authentic 5G set-up. Every user will have a complete 5G device experience. According to Tasleem Arif, Vice President, India R&D Head, Oppo India, the new milestone is a part of Oppo's efforts to explore the true potential of 5G technology. The brand intends to become one of the primary providers of 5G solutions in India. It has dedicated R&D efforts in 5G technology and works closely with supply chain partners, leading carriers and retailers to advance the 5G experience for Indian consumers. Oppo was the first smartphone brand to conduct a 5G WhatsApp video call at its R&D centre, and another call with Guy Forget from Roland Garros. Recently, Reno 6 smartphones support more than 11 bands, which showed successful results during a 5G stand-alone network trial with Jio.
