Netflix Brings Three New Games for Android Users

Posted: 03 Dec 2021 05:36 AM PST

Netflix Games

In the recent development of events, Netflix has added three new games on its platform for Android. Netflix now has a total of 10 games with the addition of the new Wonderputt Forever, Kittens, and Dominoes Café. The platform already provides seven games to the users which include Stranger Things: 1984, Stranger Things 3: The Game, Shooting Hoops, Card Blast, Teeter Up, Asphalt Xtreme, and Bowling Ballers. It is to be noted that all these games are downloadable and playable for free for all Netflix subscribers without any additional cost. It is expected that Netflix might bring these games to the iOS platform soon.

Accessing These Games and Scenario for iOS users

The recent reports have confirmed that these games have been added to Netflix's platform for Android. The three new games Wonderputt Forever, Kittens, and Dominoes Café can be downloaded via the play store. Users can also find Asphalt Xtreme and Balling Ballers on the play store and reportedly these two games were added a couple of weeks ago.

On the Netflix app for mobile, dedicated rows or tabs have been created for these games which users can access quite seamlessly. Another way to access this game is to select the categories menu on a tablet and then users can download the selected games via Google Play Store. Subscribers can also directly search for the games on Google Play Store and download them after which the games will be available on the Netflix app automatically and can be directly accessed through it.

As reported earlier, for iOS devices, Netflix has been providing an all-in-one experience within Netflix where customers can enjoy everything at one place, however, the changes have been coming in because of the mandate set by Apple. The entity will now be compelled to provide all its games offered through its gaming service on the App Store for users to download and install. According to a report from Bloomberg, the guidelines provided by Apple have been updated to stop apps of this kind from being on App Store. Every game released on the app needs to be enlisted separately by the developers on a different app on the App Store in order to comply with Apple's guidelines.

Airtel, Vi Getting Back BGs Worth Rs 20000 Crore from DoT

Posted: 03 Dec 2021 01:14 AM PST

Airtel Vi

Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) are getting bank guarantees (BGs) from the government. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has decided to return the BGs worth Rs 20,000 crore to Airtel and Vi, reports CNBCTV18. According to the publication's report, Bharti Airtel is set to receive Rs 8,000 crore and Vodafone Idea to receive Rs 12,000 crore back from the DoT.

So far, DoT has already returned Rs 3,500 crore to Bharti Airtel. Both the telcos should get the complete amount back by the end of December 31, 2021.

DoT Helping the Telcos and the Sector

One of the major issues for the telcos and the telecom sector of India has been maintaining liquidity. In light of this, DoT had announced that it would be cutting down BGs by up to 80%. After the new rule from DoT has been implemented, the telcos have to provide Rs 44 crore to the government as a performance bank guarantee for each service for the license. In comparison to this, the operators had to pay Rs 220 crore for each service for the license with the old rules.

In the same manner, the financial bank guarantee has also been reduced significantly. Now, for each circle, the telcos have to provide a financial bank guarantee of Rs 8 crore against the Rs 44 crore earlier.

This would help the telecom sector in general but would make Vodafone Idea very happy. Vi is the one operator who has benefitted the most out of the relief measures announced by the government in the last few months.

The government is already working on the second set of reforms for the telecom sector. This will go a long way in reviving the sector to its full potential. Even the recently announced prepaid tariff hikes will allow the telcos to generate more revenues which will help significantly with the cash flow.

At the time of writing, Vodafone Idea's stock is already up 2.73% and is trading at 13.15.

BSNL Subscriber Base Might Expand Soon, Here’s Why

Posted: 02 Dec 2021 11:54 PM PST

BSNL

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) might soon add millions of new users into its subscriber base. The primary driver behind this would be the tariff hikes that the private telecom operators have implemented on their prepaid plans. After a 20% to 25% tariff hike on most of the popular prepaid plans in the market from all the operators, BSNL's prepaid plans are cheaper by a long margin. However, BSNL doesn't have a 4G network PAN-India as all the private operators do.

BSNL Prepaid Plans Are Very Cheap

BSNL's prepaid plans are very cheap compared to what the private telecom operators are offering. But, there's one thing that needs to be understood. BSNL might not have the capacity to onboard millions of customers if they come toward its way as it doesn't have 4G services yet.

Many users might switch their secondary SIM card to BSNL. This is because, with the tariff hikes, the plans of the private operators have become too expensive for many to recharge with for their secondary SIM card. While at the same time, BSNL is offering way cheaper plans with attractive benefits.

This might help BSNL a lot with its 4G plans in the future. If the telco has a large subscriber base already, it can get its investment back on 4G faster than it would have thought.

A recent PTI report highlights that BSNL will launch 4G PAN-India by September 2022. The telco hasn't added new subscribers in a long time. But the following months should change that as many users might port out to BSNL for their secondary SIM.

BSNL offers multiple prepaid plans that are really good for voice calling purpose. In the future, as the telco launches 4G services, it would also become a strong contender for being the primary SIM card in a user's smartphone because of the lower tariffs. BSNL hasn't hinted anything about prepaid tariff hikes yet. The telco might benefit a lot because of that.

Vivo V23 5G Specs Expected

Vivo V21 5G smartphone sport a 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, HDR 10+ support and SGS display certification. The display has an aspect ratio of 20:9 and a refresh rate of 90Hz. The fingerprint sensor is housed within the display.

The smartphone's 44MP selfie camera brags of optical image stabilization which usually comes for rear camera modules on premium handsets. The feature enables the user to click shake-free videos while shooting VLOGS. It has a triple camera set-up with a 64MP primary sensor clubbed with an 8MP wide-angle camera and a 2MP macro shooter in the rear.

Vivo V21 5G handset runs on Android 11 with Funtouch OS 11.1. It features a MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC with 8GB RAM. DoT Might Go Against Satcom Industry Wishes and Auction the Spectrum

Posted: 02 Dec 2021 10:28 PM PST

DoT

With new satellite communications (satcom) players entering the Indian market next year, the need for high-frequency spectrum would be shared by both satcom players and terrestrial network service providers. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is planning to conduct a spectrum auction next year for both the satcom and terrestrial network companies, reports The Hindu BusinessLine.

The satcom industry has been very vocal about the need for allocating the spectrum administratively. But the terrestrial network service providers have been against it and have expressed that everyone in the communications sector should be given the airwaves in a uniform and transparent manner through the auctions.

DoT Has Written to TRAI Asking Recommendations for Suitable Frequency Bands and More

The publication's report highlights that DoT has asked the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) about the suitable frequency bands, the quantum of spectrum to be auctioned, a fresh reserve price for multiple frequency bands, and more.

TRAI has also sought clarity from DoT on what frequency bands are meant to be satellite spectrum and what quantum of it will be available.

Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, has said on multiple occasions that the spectrum for the satcom industry should not be auctioned, and the government should allocate it in an administrative manner. Mittal said that the use cases for satellite spectrum are completely different, and thus it doesn't make sense to auction it.

But the telecom operators, on the other hand, want the DoT to provide spectrum through a uniform manner (auctions) to everyone who wants it. As per the telcos, it would enable a fair playing field for everyone involved in the communications business.

It is worth noting that in the international markets, satellite spectrum is allocated administratively by paying a license fee. Multiple satcom players such as Bharti owned OneWeb, SpaceX owned Starlink, and more will enter the Indian boundaries to offer commercial satellite communications services next year. There isn't much time left, and the government needs to move fast with the policies and bring clarity for the sector.

Bharti Airtel Brings Back Disney+ Hotstar Plans, But With New Price

Posted: 02 Dec 2021 09:05 PM PST

Bharti Airtel
Bharti Airtel has reintroduced Disney+ Hotstar prepaid plans for the users. But these plans come with a new price tag now. There are a total of three plans that offer the over-the-top (OTT) benefit of Disney+ Hotstar to the users. More precisely, the benefit is of Disney+ Hotstar Mobile and it is offered with a validity of one year. The three plans that offer this cost Rs 599, Rs 838, and Rs 3359. All of these plans come with different validities and a different set of benefits.

Bharti Airtel New Prepaid Plans With Disney+ Hotstar OTT Benefit

As mentioned above, Bharti Airtel offers three prepaid plans with the OTT benefit of Disney+ Hotstar Mobile subscription for one year.

The first plan to offer this OTT benefit costs Rs 599. This plan comes with a short validity of 28 days and offers users 3GB of daily data along with unlimited voice calling, 100 SMS/day, and access to Airtel Thanks benefits.

The Rs 838 plan offers 2GB of daily data but comes with a longer validity of 56 days. This plan also offers unlimited voice calling, 100 SMS/day and Airtel Thanks benefits.

Lastly, the Rs 3359 plan comes with a validity of one year (365 days) and offers 2GB of daily data. Obviously, this plan also offers unlimited voice calling, 100 SMS/day, and access to Airtel Thanks benefits.

For the unaware, Airtel Thanks benefits include a free one month trial of Amazon Prime Video Mobile Edition, Wynk Music, Shaw Academy, Rs 100 cashback on FASTag, and much more.

In comparison, Airtel's arch-rival, Reliance Jio is only offering a single prepaid plan with the OTT benefit of Disney+ Hotstar. With Airtel, users get more options, but with Jio, they are stuck with the Rs 601 plan only. The Rs 601 plan from Jio and the Rs 599 plan from Airtel are quite similar in terms of benefits and price.

Bharti Airtel Lists Advantages of Private 5G Networks

Posted: 02 Dec 2021 07:57 PM PST

Bharti Airtel

Commercial launch and widespread of 5G networks are going to change a lot of things in the world. In India, one of the leading telecom operators expected to be at the forefront of commercial 5G launch across the country is Bharti Airtel. Airtel has been conducting 5G trials with the spectrum allotted by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for months now. The telco has found some potential use cases of 5G technology that will change the way people look at mobile networks.

Many companies and corporates would go for private 5G networks once the service is available. For the unaware, private 5G networks are those which are only meant for a select group of people and keep others outside.

Here are the advantages of private 5G networks listed by Bharti Airtel.

Private 5G Networks Advantages Listed by Airtel

So there are four primary advantages that private 5G networks bring to the table. First of all, there is tighter security. A private 5G network is built with dedicated equipment which has built-in security to keep the network and its data safe from all intrusions. Secondly, companies have much better control over the network. Private 5G networks can be monitored very easily and at any time to see which devices are connected and how.

Moving on, with private 5G networks, enterprises get to make the call of bandwidth required. Enterprises can choose the kind of bandwidth threshold they require to function smoothly. Lastly, with private 5G networks, devices connected to the network don't have to worry about things such as congestion.

In Tier-1 cities, due to large and dense populations almost everywhere, network congestions occur more often than not. But with private 5G networks, a strong coverage, as well as a decent bandwidth threshold, can be decided so that the devices always stay connected and there's no network congestion either.

Private 5G networks will be a game changer for many companies across the domain (startups and more).
