The upcoming Apple MacBook Pro is likely to come in the same design as the current variants, along with the Touch Bar. However, the 14-inch and 16-inch variants may not feature the notch or a ProMotion display.

In the report published by MacRumors, sources have claimed that the upcoming base model MacBook Pro will comprise the same number of CPU cores as the M1 processor, up to 10 graphics cores, and improved performance besides the new M2 chipset.

Fifth-generation Apple iPad Air too will come with the existing design, including its rear camera.

In addition, Apple may also release iPhone SE 3 with the new chipset 5nm A15 Bionic. The new iPhone will have support for 5G networks. Vodafone Idea

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has just announced that it has successfully demonstrated 5G Voice over New Radio (VoNR) with its technology partner, Nokia. Both the companies are working together in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, for testing 5G. This successful demonstration means that once the VoNR solution is deployed, Vi users can make high-definition voice calls using the 5G network of the telco.

Vodafone Idea and Nokia Leveraged Nokia's AirScale

Vi and Nokia had leveraged the latter's comprehensive portfolio of solutions, including its 5G core, AirScale 5G RAN, and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) voice core. These solutions can provide superior core experience on a reliable low latency and reliable 5G network that can be used for both voice can use data services.

Jagbir Singh, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Vodafone Idea Limited, said the company is testing solutions for offering superior network experience and use cases of relevance to consumers and digital enterprises during the 5G trials.

Singh added that after achieving the fastest download speeds during the 5G trials, the telco has successfully demonstrated 5G VoNR, which means that customers of the telco will be able to get a high-quality 5G network experience.

Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone Idea Stocks Future

Posted: 16 Feb 2022 12:26 AM PST

Airtel Jio Vi

Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea stocks can be purchased via the stock exchanges in India. Reliance Jio's comes under its listed parent entity Reliance Industries Limited (RIL). The RIL group is one of the most successful companies in India right now and has the highest market cap amongst all the listed names. Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea are also very big companies that can be invested in the stock market.

Many people are confused about the future of these companies and want to be certain that they are making the right buy to be profitable. Before we go ahead, note that this is not investment advice but an opinion.

Airtel Stock Future

Bharti Airtel's stock is expected by the analysts to perform well in the near to medium term. Most of the analysts have put a buy rating on Airtel's stock expecting it to cross Rs 800 figure in the foreseeable future. This will happen because the company is actively investing in its 4G networks, growing average revenue per user (ARPU) of India mobile business, expanding B2B services throughout India, and now making profits through other subsidiaries such as Airtel Payments Bank.

Airtel is now generating free cash flows, which mean the company can deleverage fast.

Reliance Jio Stock Future

As mentioned above, Jio's stock is not listed independently in the stock market. The company comes under its parent organisation which is Reliance Industries Limited (RIL). Thus, if you want to purchase Jio, you need to purchase RIL. However, Jio might soon go for the initial public offering (IPO), but there's no confirmed date.

RIL's future growth is also expected to be great. The company is pivoting from its oil business to digital, retail, and green energy business. Many analysts have put a buy and hold rating on Reliance Jio as well.

Vodafone Idea Stock Future

Vodafone Idea is the most stressed private telecom operator in India right now. Analysts believe that if the telco can't raise capital soon and aggressively invest in 4G networks, the subscriber churn rate will be high, and an improvement in ARPU won't mean anything as the overall revenues will be very low.

Tikona Broadband Offers Cheaper Rs 150 Mbps Plan than JioFiber

Posted: 15 Feb 2022 11:25 PM PST

Tikona Broadband

Tikona Broadband is not a very popular internet service provider (ISP) in India and is also available in select cities of the country. However, wherever it is present, the company offers uniform prices and benefits to the users with all of its plans. Today, we are talking about the 150 Mbps broadband plan from the company. It is worth noting that Tikona offers multiple 150 Mbps speed plans to the users. The only difference between all the 150 Mbps speed plans offered by the company is of the price and the validity they come with. The speed and data benefits remain the same. So today, we are going to look at the 150 Mbps plan from the company that's cheaper than what JioFiber provides to its users.

Tikona Broadband 150 Mbps Plan

Tikona's 150 Mbps plan comes at a monthly cost of Rs 799. This excludes taxes. Some plans attract installation charges, and some plans don't. If you are going for the long-term plan, you will not have to worry about the installation charges.

The monthly plan will attract an installation charge of Rs 1,000, while the three months plan will attract an installation charge of Rs 500. With the monthly plan, new users will have to pay a total of Rs 2123 (inclusive of monthly tariff, installation charge, and taxes). With the three months plan, this amount becomes Rs 3418.

Users going for the six and twelve months plan will not have to worry about installation charges at all. The six months plan will cost Rs 5657, and the 12 months plan will cost Rs 11314.

At the same time, JioFiber offers its 150 Mbps plan for Rs 999. While it is expensive, the plan from JioFiber bundles various over-the-top (OTT) benefits. At the end of the day, plans from both companies are decent and offer great value to the users, so it is mostly about preference.

iPhone Could be a Good Investment for Long-Term Usage, But Use With Caution

Posted: 15 Feb 2022 10:45 PM PST

Apple iPhone

iPhones are a status symbol in society today. Any person walking with an iPhone in his/her hand will have more social approval than any person walking with a Chinese company smartphone, regardless of how expensive it is. Many consider iPhones as unworthy investments. This is primarily because of their price as there are cheaper alternatives available. But there's one thing that a lot of people don't consider. While there are cheaper Android options present, none of them gets OS and security updates for as long as an iPhone does.

Apple ensures that each of its iPhones gets the latest update for years to come, and it keeps its value in place. Further, the resale value of an iPhone is always more than an Android device. This is because its OS is buttery smooth, and as mentioned before, the smartphone keeps getting regular updates. One more reason is the kind of power iPhones have.

Even the A13 Bionic running inside the iPhone 11 is faster than many of the recent chipsets produced by Qualcomm and MediaTek for Android smartphones.

Caution that Every iPhone User Must Take

One thing that everyone knows is iPhones are expensive. Thus, if you damage one, it's going to burn holes in your pocket to get it repaired. Especially the current generation iPhone which comes with advanced sensors, display, and hardware.

But if you can keep one for a long-time and with good care, it would be worth your money when you resell it to someone else.

There are even affordable iPhones available in the market today. Apple is expected to launch another affordable iPhone SE 2022 this summer. Even the iPhone 12 mini is now priced under Rs 50,000, which is just a good steal for users. You can even buy old generation iPhones and use them for the long-term without any issues and resell or exchange it in the future.

5G Deployment in India Not a Danger for Aircraft: Abhishek Malhotra, TMT Law Practice

Posted: 15 Feb 2022 09:03 PM PST

5G

5G deployment using the C-band spectrum in the United States (US) has worried a lot of people about the potential interferences it can cause to the sensitive aircraft equipment. However, that won't be a problem in India. According to Abhishek Malhotra, Managing Partner, TMT Law Practice, the spectrum bands that will be used in India will not cause interference with the aircraft equipment.

More precisely, it has been the altimeters, mostly in the Boeing jets, that have faced problems. In India, firstly, there's a heavy movement of Airbus jets domestically and very few Boeing aircraft. Then, the frequencies used in India for 5G will be 3.3 GHz to 3.6 GHz. This creates a good enough spectrum guard for the altimeters inside the aircraft, which utilise spectrum in the 4.2 Ghz – 4.4 GHz. In the US, there's not enough spectrum guard, as is the case in India. Thus, the possibility of interference exists in the US only and not within India.

India Doesn't Need to Worry Too Much With the Deployment of 5G

Malhotra told TelecomTalk that there's no need to take precautions right now because there's no problem in the first place. This is in line with what many other industry experts believe too. The simple fact is what is happening in the US won't happen in India.

The flights that were cancelled going out of India to the US were because of the issues that exist there and not in India. It is worth noting that the flights to the US that were cancelled by Air India were going to utilise Boeing jets.

Thus the government can go on with its usual plan of allocating the frequencies in the 3.3 GHz to 3.6 GHz band for the rollout of 5G. The 5G spectrum auctions are expected to take place during the month of May this year however, nothing's confirmed yet; it might be delayed further, as has been the case in the past.

Vodafone Idea Counting on SBI Capital Markets for Raising and Restructuring Loan

Vodafone Idea

Vodafone Idea has reportedly appointed SBI Capital Markets last week for negotiating the restructuring of its current loan. The telco's loan is worth around Rs 20,000-23,000 crore today which needs to be paid in the next four years. Not just the restructuring, but SBI Capital Markets will also help Vodafone Idea in raising fresh loans. This loan will allow the telco in raising capex levels so that it could expand 4G fast to compete for head-on with Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, reports ET Telecom.

Vodafone Idea Aiming to Get Longer Tenure for Loans at Lower Interest Rates

The cash-strapped telco is trying to come up with a comprehensive restructuring plan which will include recasting of the loans and getting a longer tenure to repay with lower interest rates. The move from Vodafone Idea is its effort in raising capital as there has been no luck with getting a new investor on board or getting any help from the promoters.

Vodafone Idea was also considering the sale of overseas convertible bonds for raising $750 million to $1 billion. It should have been done within the first week of February only but has now been pushed ahead by a few weeks.

The telco has also been in talks with private equity investors such as Apollo Global Management and Carlyle for raising up to another $1 billion. Whatever Vodafone Idea (Vi) is planning, it should happen fast as the telco's users are leaving the network in huge numbers every quarter that goes by.

Vodafone Idea has to secure capital in one way or another so that the telco can justify another tariff hike with an improved 4G network.

SBI Capital Markets will be negotiating with the banks on behalf of Vodafone Idea and will try to restructure the existing loans along with trying to secure a loan from the financial institutions in the near future. Hopefully, something good comes out of all this for Vodafone Idea before the end of FY22.

NTO 2.0: TRAI to Float Consultation Paper, Broadcasters Withdraw Petitions

TRAI

The broadcasters in India will be withdrawing the petitions filed against the New Tariff Order (NTO) 2.0 in the Supreme Court. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) will soon be coming out with a consultation paper to address the issues faced by the broadcasters and all the concerned stakeholders. The Indian Broadcasting and Digital Foundation (IBDF) and its members will be withdrawing the petitions without any conditions. The bodies have already filed applications for withdrawing the petitions with the Supreme Court, reports e4m.

IBDF Takes a Soft Approach Towards TRAI After No Option Left

It is worth noting that IBDF was initially uninterested in withdrawing the petitions until and unless TRAI took an official stance at the Supreme Court. For the unaware, broadcasters and TRAI conducted backroom parleys for ending the issues over NTO 2.0. TRAI had then asked the broadcasters to withdraw the petitions so that it could float a consultation paper for it. But the IBDF was hesitant to do it then.

However, after IBDF failed twice to get interim relief from the Supreme Court, it took a soft approach towards TRAI's recommendation and thought it best to withdraw the cases.

The issues around NTO 2.0 are still going and will take some time to get resolved. Back in July 2021, IBDF had gone to the Supreme Court against the orders from the Bombay High Court, which rejected the petitions filed by the broadcasters against TRAI's NTO 2.0.

For now, TRAI has extended the time for the broadcasters to implement the NTO 2.0 from April 1, 2022, to June 2022. The industry might see further delays in the implementation of the new tariff order 2.0 because it will take some time for TRAI to float the consultation paper and read into the problems that persist because of the NTO 2.0 for the broadcasters and industry. The petitions will be withdrawn soon as the broadcasters have already filed for it.

Entry Level Broadband Plans

If you are in the market for a first-time broadband connection and are looking for affordable plans, several internet service providers (ISPs) in the country offer entry-level broadband plans that might suit your need. These plans are also suitable for individual users, small households and even those who want to switch to an affordable option. However, it might be a little confusing while choosing a service provider as there are multiple ISPs that offer affordable broadband plans. In this article, we have compared the entry-level broadband plans offered by multiple leading ISPs in the country along with the pack details for users to make a well-informed choice.

Jio

Jio is one of the country's leading ISP that offers broadband plans with up to 1 Gbps. However, the most affordable option from the company offers connectivity with 30 Mbps speed. JioFiber provides a 30 Mbps internet speed data plan at the price of Rs 399 per month. The FUP limit set on this plan is 3300Gb or 3.3TB. Using the 30 Mbps plan from JioFiber, customers can get access to smooth and seamless internet across multiple devices. This is one of the best budget plans as users also get a symmetrical download and upload speed. It is to be noted that the price of the plan is exclusive of GST.

BSNL

The most affordable option from the state-owned operator BSNL used to be the 'Fibre Basic' plan which offers an internet speed of 30 Mbps at a cost of Rs 449. The mentioned price is exclusive of GST and the plan comes with a FUP limit of 3300GB or 3.3TB. However, the telco has recently introduced a new broadband plan called "Fiber Entry". Using its Bharat Fiber connection, the telco offers a Fiber Entry plan which provides 20 Mbps speed at a cost of Rs 329 per month. The data limit on the plan is 1000GB beyond which the speed is reduced to 2 Mbps. This plan makes BSNL the only operator which offers 20 Mbps of internet speed.

Airtel Broadband

Airtel is one of the most popular brands when it comes to the list of ISPs in India. Airtel with its Xstream Fiber connection offers one of the fastest broadband connections and the entry-level pack from the ISP is the 'Basic' pack which provides 40 Mbps of internet speed at a monthly cost of Rs 499 exclusive of taxes. Users get 3.3TB or 3300GB of monthly fair-usage-policy (FUP) data with this plan. Airtel also provides 'Airtel Thanks Benefits' with its broadband plans which in this case includes a subscription to Wynk Music and Shaw Academy. The entry-level plan from Airtel offers a little higher speed at a little higher price tag than others.

ACT's Affordable Offer

The Internet Service Provider based in Bengaluru provides a 40 Mbps unlimited data plan called 'ACT Basic.' The plan usually costs Rs 549 for a month, but the ISP is providing a unique offer for its customers, wherein the 'ACT Basic' plan is available for a price of Rs 470 per month for a duration of 6 months. In addition to this, the FUP data limit levied on the broadband plans is 500GB post which the internet works at speed of 512 Kbps. The entry-level plan from ACT is suitable for users who are looking to invest in the long-term as it costs slightly less than that of Airtel with the same connectivity speed if opted for six months.
