| BSNL Launches New Rs 797 Plan With 2GB of Daily Data, 395 Days Validity Posted: 16 Mar 2022 02:16 AM PDT
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has just launched a new prepaid plan for its users, which will cost Rs 797. This is a plan voucher aimed at offering validity to the users. The benefits offered by the plan will remain there for only the first 60 days, and then users can either add talktime packs or data packs as per their wish. This plan would make for an ideal option for a user who wants to keep his/her BSNL connection as a secondary SIM in his/her smartphone. Let's check out the complete benefits of this plan. BSNL Rs 797 Plan Voucher DetailsBSNL Rs 797 prepaid plan is offered with 2GB of daily data, unlimited voice calling, and 100 SMS/day for the first 60 days. The speed reduces to 80 Kbps post the consumption of fair-usage-policy (FUP) data. After 60 days, the benefits will expire, but the SIM card will stay active. The usual validity of this plan is 395 days, but until June 12, 2022, BSNL will offer 30 days of extra validity with this plan when the users make a recharge. There are plenty of talktime vouchers and data vouchers that you can recharge with whenever you feel the need to. One of the best things about the prepaid plans offered by BSNL is that they are super affordable. However, they are not backed by the fast 4G networks that users get with the private telecom operators. This is a plan that none of the private telcos offers and is great for people who want their BSNL SIM to be the secondary one. BSNL is expected to launch 4G and 5G networks by August 15, 2022. This is the same date that the government wants private telcos to launch 5G on as well. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for BSNL. For now, the telco is yet to place orders for 4G equipment. |

| Satcom Can be a Boon for Indian Airlines Posted: 15 Mar 2022 11:14 PM PDT
The satellite communications (satcom) sector will have to make its presence known in India by signing a lot of commercial agreements with the other industry verticals. While there are a lot of challenges that it will have to navigate through in the coming months, one thing is for sure; the aviation industry would benefit a lot from the satcom industry's success. Aeroplane manufacturers, as well as airlines both, would be counting on India's telecom regulator and the government to support the satcom sector. But why? Here's what you should know. Satcom Sector Can Help Airlines in this WayFirst of all, satellite broadband would be able to offer high-quality and true in class internet connectivity inside aircraft. Wi-Fi connectivity has become so important inside aircraft as the world is shifting towards virtual. Satcom services would also enable the airlines in efficiently running flights and maintaining operations. With satellite connectivity, airlines will be able to gain access to apps that can translate into more streamlined operations and savings. Satellite broadband would enable high-speed cockpit to cabin connectivity at a fraction of the cost of an air-to-ground system. Also, because of satcom, global coverage is also possible, even in polar regions. Further, in terms of security, satellite broadband can give multiple channels of connectivity, separating the line of communication between pilots and the internet network used by passengers. But it can be a little expensive for the airlines to install satellite internet systems inside pre-built aircraft. However, it can be done at a very low cost while the manufacturers such as Airbus and Boeing are making their aircraft. Companies such as SpaceX owned Starlink are already ready to work with airlines and aircraft manufacturers to offer them a solution for connectivity inside flights. Satcom is the future of in-flight connectivity undoubtedly as it makes operations more efficient for the airlines and also does so at lower costs than ground-to-air systems. |

Vodafone Idea (Vi), the third-largest telecom operator in the country offers Rs 327 and Rs 329 prepaid plans to the users. Since both the plans have such a less press difference, it is really important to see which plan offers what benefits. From the pricing angle, both might look the same, but that's not really the case. The Rs 327 and Rs 329 prepaid plans from Vi are very different and made for different customers. Let's check out their benefits in detail. Vodafone Idea Rs 327 Prepaid PlanThe Rs 327 prepaid plan from Vodafone Idea (Vi) is a lump-sum data-heavy prepaid plan which comes with service validity of 30 days. Users also get unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS/day with this prepaid plan. There's only one additional benefit of Vi Movies & TV Classic is included with this plan. The main feature of this plan is that users can consume 25GB of data anytime they wish to. This is not similar to the way daily data prepaid plans work. Vodafone Idea Rs 329 Prepaid PlansVodafone Idea offers its Rs 329 prepaid plan to the users who are looking for a plan which primarily offers long validity. With this plan, Vi users get 4GB of data, truly unlimited voice calling, and 600 SMS for 56 days. Again, there are no Vi Hero Benefits included in this plan but users do get a free over-the-top (OTT) subscription of Vi Movies & TV Basic. In case the data falls short for the user, he/she can always go for the 4G data vouchers which start at Rs 19 offering 1GB. With a validity of 24 hours or one day. So amongst the two, the Rs 327 plan is made for people who are looking for a 30-day option with heavy data usage while the Rs 329 plan is made for people who are looking for a slightly longer-validity plan with primary voice calling needs. |
| Ericsson, Vodafone UK Complete Network Slicing on 5G SA Posted: 15 Mar 2022 09:17 PM PDT
Ericsson partnered with Vodafone UK and completed the network slicing trials on 5G SA (standalone). It was a joint lab trial conducted by the companies, and note that this was the first time in the UK that 5G network slicing with on-demand quality of service control for virtual reality use case was tested successfully. With 5G SA, the demand for network slicing by business and enterprise customers will go up. Through this service, the telecom operators can create multiple virtual networks and can customise the power and settings of each network depending on the needs of the customer. The benefit of slicing is that each slice is isolated from the telco's other network traffic, which gives the businesses a dedicated network with guaranteed performance and also increases security for internal communication via that network. Ericsson, Vodafone UK Network Slice on 5G SA Guaranteed 260 Mbps SpeedThe technology teams of Vodafone UK and Ericsson worked together to form a network slice on 5G SA using a single RAN function for a high-bandwidth and low-latency network that can be delivered for a virtual reality use case in a retail store. The slice guaranteed a download speed of 260 Mbps and latency of 2.4 milliseconds. What's worth noting is that the process of placing an order to form a slice and carry live network traffic took just 30 minutes. A network slice can be heavily customised on the download, upload, security, latency, capacity, and geographical segments to deliver exactly what the customer is looking for. This is going to be a game-changer for businesses and enterprises looking to set up their own internal communications network for conducting all operations. Network slicing is one of the most exciting use cases of 5G that will boost the enterprise revenues of the telcos in the future. It is the first time something like this has happened in the UK, which is a big feat for both Ericsson and Vodafone UK. |
