| Tata Play Fiber 300 Mbps Plan for Six Months, Check How Much It Costs Posted: 17 Mar 2022 11:40 PM PDT
Tata Play Fiber, earlier known as Tata Sky Broadband offers a decent deal to the users with its 300 Mbps plan if they are going for the long-term option. Tata Play Fiber users can get the 300 Mbps plan from the company for Rs 8400 only if they are going for the six months option. This reduces the monthly cost of the plan to Rs 1400. Note that price doesn't include taxes so don't be surprised when you see an additional 18% amount on the final bill. Tata Play Fiber 300 Mbps Plan DetailsTata Play Fiber offers 300 Mbps plan for Rs 1500 for 1 month. For 3 and 12 months, users can get this plan for Rs 4500 and Rs 15600. The good thing about this plan is that users will get the benefit of free expert installation and a free dual-band ONT router. The data offered with this plan from Tata Play Fiber is 3.3TB for a month. Post the consumption of FUP data, the internet speed will reduce to 3 Mbps. If you want landline service, the company will provide a free line of connection but the instrument will have to be purchased by you only. Note that Tata Play Fiber's services aren't available everywhere and the 300 Mbps plan is especially not available in every region of the country. Further, if the user goes for the monthly plan, he/she will have to incur a cost of Rs 500 on installation. The company promises is a 99.9% uptime of its broadband network which is a good enough promise for any customer. The only thing that this 300 Mbps plan from Tata Play Fiber lacks is the presence of over-the-top (OTT) benefits. To compete with Airtel Xstream Fiber and JioFiber, Tata Play Fiber must think about bundling in OTT benefits for the users. With the 6 months and 12 months plan, users get to save Rs 600 and Rs 2400, respectively. |

| Apple iPhone 14 CAD Renders Showcases Recognisable Design Posted: 17 Mar 2022 06:09 AM PDT
Apple's next flagship iPhone 14 series is expected to arrive in September 2022, and while there's still a lot of time before the company announces the devices, the rumours on the web are plenty. Apple is expected to launch four models as the part of iPhone 14 series; however, it is most likely that the company will drop its mini model from the series. Now, a new report has revealed the CAD (Computer-Aided-Design) renders of the base iPhone 14 smartphone. Let's take a look. Design Details for iPhone 14The report comes in from MySmartPrice, which has shared RAW CAD renders, giving us an idea about what the iPhone 14 will actually look like. The front of the vanilla iPhone 14 might not witness any major design change as depicted in the renders. It seems that Apple is once again going for the thick display notch on the top as the previous iPhones. The report suggests that the iPhone 14 Max — which is reportedly replacing the 'mini' model in Apple's 2022 lineup, might come with a similar front design as well. Renders suggest that iPhone 14 might have a similar camera module as it did in the iPhone 13 series; however, there is a minor change in the camera placement. It seems that the dual rear cameras are placed adjacent, and there is a thicker frame of glass surrounding the housing. The renders do not depict Apple's logo on the back, but it will be surprising if the iconic logo of the company is actually missing on the actual phone. Additionally, just like the previous iteration, iPhone 14 can be seen to have the volume rocker, with the alert slider placed above it on the left spine and the SIM card slot below the volume keys. The power button has been placed on the right side of the phone. Speculations suggest that Apple might launch the iPhone 14 with the Lightning connector, which means that there's still some time before Type-C charging comes to iPhones. The report also confirms that iPhone 14 would feature a 6.1-inch display, the same as the iPhone 13 and iPhone 12. Since the base model doesn't seem to have a lot of changes, it is most likely that Apple will be bringing key design changes only to the pro models in the iPhone 14 series. |

There are more International markets where 5G networks might launch in the coming months which should further proliferate the presence of 5G smartphones across the world. According to the data shared by Nokia's Mobile Broadband Index (MBiT) report for 2022, India already has 10 million active 5G smartphones. | TRAI to Submit 5G Spectrum Auctions Recommendations by March End or Early April Posted: 16 Mar 2022 11:28 PM PDT
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is currently working on the 5G spectrum auctions recommendations and is likely going to submit it to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) by March-end or early April, said P D Vaghela, Chairman, TRAI. The regulatory body has been working on the recommendations since October of last year now. According to a PTI report, Vaghela said that generally, it takes TRAI seven to eight months before it submits recommendations for spectrum auctions. But this time, it needs to happen much faster, and the regulatory body is working hard on ensuring that it happens within the expected time frame. PMO Wants 5G Launch by August 15, 2022The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) wants Indian telecom operators to launch 5G by August 15, 2022. It leaves very less room for conducting 5G spectrum auctions for the DoT. Thus, DoT had ordered TRAI to submit the recommendations by March-end so that spectrum auctions can take place as early as possible. TRAI needs to consider comments from each stakeholder and then go with the best possible route. Every telco has different opinions on different matters. Thus, the task of the regulator is very complex. The recommendations from TRAI would include things such as spectrum pricing, how much spectrum should be availed to the telcos and in what block size, and more. Further, this time, the regulatory body also has to consider requests put forth by the satcom industry of India. There are a lot of things that need to happen in the correct manner for 5G to become successful in the country. It all starts from the recommendation that TRAI gives to the DoT. Thus, while everything is happening fast, hopefully, everything's happening in the right manner, and no decisions are taken in a rush, which can negatively impact the entire industry and the investments made by the telcos. The spectrum auctions are expected to take place during May or June 2022. |
| Airtel Xstream Fiber Plan for OTT Lovers and Professionals Posted: 16 Mar 2022 10:07 PM PDT
Bharti Airtel's fiber broadband arm, Airtel Xstream Fiber, has very few options for users to choose from. If you are an over-the-top (OTT) content lover and a professional with a need for high-speed internet, Airtel Xstream Fiber has one pretty decent option for you. The company offers users a broadband plan that isn't too expensive for professionals but at the same time packs enough OTT firepower and speed to ensure a seamless internet experience for the users. The plan that we are talking about is the 'Professional' plan. Let's see what it offers to the users and how much it costs. Airtel Xstream Fiber Professional Broadband PlanWith the Airtel Xstream Fiber's 'Professional' broadband plan, users get up to 300 Mbps of internet speed. This speed is the same for both uploading as well as downloading. The company offers a free fixed-line voice calling connection as well. The data offered by this plan is limited to 3.3TB or 3300GB per month, which is more than sufficient for most users in the country. But this is not all; the plan also packs additional Airtel Thanks benefits. These benefits include a free subscription to platforms such as Amazon Prime, Wynk Music, Shaw Academy, and more. To redeem the subscriptions and additional benefits, users need to go to the Airtel Thanks app inside their smartphone. The monthly rental of Rs 1499 does not include any taxes. There's also a slightly more budget option available for Rs 999 for OTT lovers and professionals, but it offers 200 Mbps of speed. For some users, even this plan might make sense. But if you have a big family with more like 15 devices connected to the Wi-Fi network at all times, the 300 Mbps plan makes for a good option. Other private internet service providers (ISPs) such as JioFiber and more also offer a 300 Mbps plan to the users with OTT benefits. |
| Global 5G: Malaysia Ready to Offer Telcos 70% Stake in DNB 5G Posted: 16 Mar 2022 09:14 PM PDT
Malaysia is ready to offer a 70% stake in the Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) to the private telecom firms in the country. The private telcos don't want Malaysia to get 5G network services from a single player. Unlike other countries, Malaysia had created DNB to offer commercial 5G network services in the country. The private telcos are not comfortable with the notion and want the government to consider a second 5G provider in an impasse with DNB over pricing and other issues, Reuters reported. A single government-run 5G service provider can hamper the competition in the country. Thus, there's a need for the involvement of private operators to offer 5G as well. Malaysia Ready to Offer Telcos Stake, But Will They Take ItMalaysia said that it is open to offering up to a 70% stake in the DNB to the private telcos and owning the remaining 30%. This would enable private telcos to become a part of Malaysia's 5G journey and help with speeding up infrastructure deployment. The government isn't going to allow any second operator to offer 5G but will offer equity to the private telcos in DNB if they want it. But what will really happen at the end is subject to the communications between the telecom companies and the DNB. The agency will be regulated by the communications ministry, with the government owning a 30% stake in the 5G vehicle if the deal goes through with the private telcos. DNB has further extended the date of offering free 5G services to carriers to June 30, 2022. This is with the aim to offer a seamless transition to operators who haven't yet signed up for its services. Malaysia wanted a single shared 5G network in the country to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and speed up infrastructure construction. While it may create scares of monopoly in the country, the DNB has said that the cost of accessing its 5G network would be lesser for users than what they had to pay for 4G to the private telecom operators. |
| 5G Launch, 4G Growth Calls for Skilled Manpower in India Posted: 16 Mar 2022 07:53 PM PDT
As the demand for digital connectivity increases, the need for skilled manpower goes up as well. To offer better services and scale up infrastructure in new parts of the country, the telcos need the help of a skilled and efficient workforce. With 5G, telcos will have to aggressively deploy radios and new mobile sites within the city and outside, too, for giving good coverage to people travelling. To do this at a fast pace with efficiency and accuracy, India must have a ready and skilled workforce. The Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) is working in this domain. Even to expand the already built 4G infrastructure, experienced and skilled manpower is required. 4G Is Almost Present Everywhere in the Country NowThe telecom operators are trying to reach as many locations with their 4G networks as possible. In the future, when they have the 5G spectrum and are ready to roll out commercial 5G services, they will need the help of a skilled workforce to get the work done quickly. With the network technology advancing day by day, even TSSC is working to improve the way it delivers education and skills to aspiring students. Arvind Bali, CEO of TSSC, had told TelecomTalk during a conversation that TSSC is also looking to place students abroad for jobs. The organisation's goal isn't just to meet the skilled manpower supply in India but globally. This will give the youth of the country employment opportunities while the international markets would be able to benefit from the vast amount of youth that India has right now. As technology develops further, new ways to deliver information to the students should arrive. With that, the need for understanding the new technology for the existing members of the telecom industry and young students will grow immensely. |
