When it comes to high-speed broadband plans, a lot of internet service providers offer a variety of plans. Two of the most prominent players in the market – Airtel and BSNL offer a 300 Mbps broadband plan among others. While at first, it may seem that the 300 Mbps plan provided by both the service providers is similar because of the pricing, they actually differ when it comes to the benefits. Airtel Xstream FiberAirtel offers a 300 Mbps unlimited data plan as well which is called the 'Professional' plan. | Jio, Airtel and Vi 5G Tariffs Will be Low like 4G? Let’s Talk Posted: 02 Apr 2022 05:12 AM PDT
Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea (Vi) are all expected to launch 5G network services commercially later in 2022. There are a lot of people who doubt that they will go for 5G as they can be satisfied with 4G. But the thing is, like what happened with 4G, the telcos might do with 5G too. A few years back, Reliance Jio came and shocked the market with its unusually low 4G tariffs. This was to capture market share and build a brand image aggressively. To capture market share in the 5G era, the telcos might repeat the same. The tariffs might not go as low as they used to be in the initial 4G era of India. But they might not be too expensive either from 4G plans. If the 4G and 5G tariffs are almost similar, where 5G is slightly expensive, then people would prefer 5G. This would also give the telcos a chance to increase their average revenue per user (ARPU). Randeep Sekhon, CTO, Bharti Airtel, had said that looking at the international markets, it doesn't look like 5G is going to be very expensive compared to 4G. However, factors such as spectrum cost and the other network upgradation costs are something that the telcos will consider before the final pricing of 5G plans. This means that we can't really say whether the tariffs will be low like 4G right now. Another Round of 4G Tariff Hikes ComingBefore we talk about 5G tariffs, it is important to remember that another round of 4G prepaid tariff hikes is not far. Both Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) have already said that they will not shy away from hiking tariffs again in 2022. Going by the previous hikes, we can expect that by November or December this year, another round of 4G tariff hikes will come. The thing is, despite the prepaid tariff hikes, the consumer outlook towards telecom services has been positive only. People are paying more, and Jio and Airtel have been both able to add new active users at the cost of Vodafone Idea. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is the only operator who didn't go ahead with prepaid tariff hikes. But with the 4G launch, even BSNL might go for prepaid tariff hikes. |

On the back, the device houses a triple camera setup in a rectangular camera module. iQOO Neo 6 Specification DetailsiQOO Neo 6 was also recently spotted at the Geekbench benchmarking site with the model number V2196A. The listing suggests that the device will arrive with Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC with the motherboard codenamed "taro". For those who don't know this is the codename for the company's flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chipset. This flagship chipset comes with one core running at 3GHz, three cores operating at 2.5GHz, and four cores clocked at 1.79GHz. The listing further informs that the smartphone will arrive with 12GB RAM on board and will run on Android 12. However, it is very much possible that there will be other storage variants as well with different RAM options. The spotted device was able to score 1193 points in the single-core tests and 3523 points in the multi-core tests. A previous listing of iQOO Neo 6 at TENNA certifications suggested that the device will come with a 6.62-inch Full HD+ screen and will feature a 2,290mAh dual-cell battery unit, which should be a 4,700mAh battery. |

The active subscribers of Reliance Jio grew substantially even though the telco's total subscriber base declined by 9.3 million. Apart from Vodafone Idea (Vi), every telecom operator in India including the state-run telco Reliance Jio added new users. This is a good sign for the industry overall as it suggests that the consumer outlook towards prepaid tariff hikes is positive only. "Jio added more than 4 million active subscribers for two consecutive months i.e. Dec and Jan. Its active subscriber base has reached 368.5 million with more than 90% VLR ratio. Not only Jio, other operators except Vi continue to grow their active subscriber base. It reflects positive consumer outlook towards services (despite hikes) and improving subscriber-mix. We expect these factors to positively contribute to ARPU growth for operators," said Charu Paliwal, Counterpoint Research. Paliwal further said that the SIM consolidation and the removal of inactive subscribers are still taking place but the level of activity has reduced and the market is expected to stabilise now. BSNL Losing Market Share on the Back of Stiff CompetitionBharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), which used to be the kind of wired broadband service in India has lost plenty of market share to the private telcos Jio and Airtel. Both Airtel and Jio are now ahead of BSNL in wired broadband. BSNL lost 0.17 million wired broadband subscribers in the month of January 2022 while Airtel and Jio added 0.13 million and 0.26 million new users. This is because of the low capex levels with BSNL as the state-run telco isn't making any money. "Jio and Airtel continue to take the leading spots by gaining 0.26 million and 0.13 million subscribers. On the other hand, BSNL lost 0.17 million subscribers on the back of stiff competition from the market leaders," added Paliwal. The tariff hikes and a positive consumer outlook toward services should help the telcos improve their ARPU levels aggressively. There's another prepaid tariff hike expected to come later this year. |
