| GTPL Is Offering a Very Compelling 50 Mbps Broadband Plan to Indians Posted: 03 May 2022 12:51 AM PDT
GTPL, a regional internet service provider (ISP), is offering a very compelling 50 Mbps broadband plan to consumers. The company offers services in select big cities of India and provides users with plans ranging from 50 Mbps to 100 Mbps. It is fair to say that GTPL won't be the first option for a majority of people living in the country. This is because, with GTPL, you can't go for super high-speed broadband plans. Further, users can only purchase plans with a validity of 6, 9, and 12 months when it comes to GTPL. The company doesn't offer a one-month plan to users. Let's take a look at why the 50 Mbps broadband plan from GTPL could be a good option despite the conditions. GTPL 50 Mbps Broadband Plan Details and Why It Could Be a Good OptionFirst of all, the company offers its broadband connections with a free-of-cost router, zero installation charges, and zero security deposit. Then, you can get the 50 Mbps broadband plan from GTPL for Rs 3,389 for six months, Rs 3,983 for nine months, and Rs 5,084 for 12 months. Of course, the price doesn't include GST over here. With GST added, the overall cost of the six, nine, and twelve months would become Rs 3,999, Rs 4,700, and Rs 5,999. The monthly cost of the plan won't be very low but would be suitable enough for a 50 Mbps broadband plan. Since there's no security deposit either, customers don't have to worry about paying money to get the router from the company. If you want to take a look at other plans, you can visit the company's website, which is pretty easy to navigate through. There are 60 Mbps, 80 Mbps, and 100 Mbps broadband plans available for users. GTPL offers its broadband internet service under the brand GTPL Fiber, and it is available in multiple cities of the country, such as Ahmedabad, Baroda, and more. |

| Reliance Jio ARPU Might See Positive Growth Post Removal of JioMart Offer Posted: 02 May 2022 10:33 PM PDT
On March 31, 2022, Reliance Retail stopped giving cashbacks under the JioMart Maha Cashback offer to consumers making purchases from Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) owned companies. These cashbacks could be used for making purchases and getting discounts across Reliance owned retail stores, both online and offline. Reliance Jio, a telecom brand under RIL, also allowed users to utilise this cashback to get a discount on the recharges made through the MyJio app. This meant that even after tariff hikes, a lot of users were getting the new expensive plans at discounted rates. While not every customer might have leveraged the offer to get a discount on their prepaid recharge, there might be many who might be doing that, which would have offset the effect of the tariff hike. However, users stopped receiving fresh cashbacks under the JioMart Maha Cashback offer from March 31, 2022. Further, any and all the cashback amount that Reliance customers had expired on April 30, 2022. This means that from now on, all the future recharges will cost users the complete amount of money as they can't get any discount going forward. Jio's ARPU Gains Decent Despite DelayIt is worth noting that Jio is not too far from Airtel when it comes to the average revenue per user (ARPU) figure. Despite the JioMart Maha Cashback offer and having a lot of users subscribed to the long-term plans, Jio's ARPU gains have been decent until Q3 FY22. The exact ARPU figure for the last quarter of FY22 isn't out yet, but we might see a significant difference in both Jio and Airtel's ARPU figure this time as the full impact of the tariff hike would benefit Airtel more. Jio's ARPU gains will be more evident in the coming quarters as there are a lot of long-term subscribers who haven't recharged with the new tariffs yet. The results of all the telcos should be out soon. Reliance Industries Limited's (RIL) board is all set to meet on May 6, 2022, to consider and approve the financial results for the quarter and year-ending March 31, 2022. The results should not take long post that to be revealed by the company. |
| 5G Modem from Apple to Become a Reality Soon Posted: 02 May 2022 09:40 PM PDT
In the last few years, we have seen Apple taking a majority of control over the development and design of its chips across products. The company has already designed its own A-series Bionic chips for iPhones and iPads. In 2020, Apple also brought its in-house M1 chip for Macs and started shifting from Intel. In the coming future, Apple is reportedly planning to ditch Qualcomm as well for the 5G modems on its mobile chips. As per a story from the Wall Street Journal, Apple might be bringing its own 5G modems on A-series chipsets starting in 2023. The company has even given a lot of hints about the same. Hints Which Suggest that Apple is Bringing Its Own 5G Modem for Mobile ChipsApple is planning to launch a proprietary 5G modem. The same is hinted at by the company's move to acquire Intel's smartphone-modem business in 2019, along with 2,200 employees. Further, in San Diego, which is Qualcomm's hometown, Apple is advertising that there are around 140 positions available which are directly related to developing and integrating cellar modem chips. Further, in 2021, Qualcomm's CFO had said that by 2023, Qualcomm is only expected to supply 20% of the 5G modems that Apple uses on its iPhones compared to the 100% now. These developments hint toward a future where Apple will bring a proprietary 5G modem for its chips. This might be a good thing for the consumers as the way Apple designs things; the focus is always on keeping the efficiency up. This will also give Apple better control over the overall cost of developing and getting the chip manufactured. It will pave a fresh path for Apple, but there are unseen challenges as well. Apple could also struggle with designing and manufacturing, and testing a new wireless modem since it takes quite a bit of time to do so. |
| Amazon Prime Video Store Arrives in India Posted: 02 May 2022 07:55 PM PDT
Amazon has launched the Amazon Prime Video Store in India. The sole purpose of the Prime Video Store is for people to get early access to a lot of new movies as well as old movies which are already on the platform. Users who don't have a Prime subscription will benefit by being able to rent old movies on Prime Video. This is for users who don't want to purchase a subscription to Amazon Prime yet be able to rent movies whenever they want to satisfy their entertainment needs. No Standard Price of Renting Movies on Amazon Prime VideoThere's no standard price for renting movies in HD on the Amazon Prime Video Store. Based on whether the movie is available with early access and its popularity, the platform will charge users money for watching something. For example, 'The Batman', which is a new title and is available at Early Access, will cost users Rs 499 to rent it. Both the Prime and non-Prime members will have to pay this amount since it is available at early access. But for old movies which are already on the platform, the price charged by the company is comparatively lower. Further, Prime members can access most of the old movies on the platform for free as they have a full-fledged Prime subscription. Renting old movies will only make sense for users who don't have a Prime subscription and don't want to get it either. The price of renting a movie on early access in the Amazon Prime Video Store would be way lower than what you would have to pay as a whole for watching a movie in theatres with your family. Spiderman: No Way Home is available for Rs 99 on the platform. Further, there's also The Matrix: Resurrections available for Rs 149. More such movie titles can be found on the Amazon Prime Video Store, which is now available for people living in India as well. |
