The Xiaomi 12S series and Mi Band 7 Pro will both launch in China on July 4, according to the company. The wearable's design has also been tested by the Chinese company, which used a clip to tease a clip-on rectangular display dial, a first for the Xiaomi fitness band line. Although the pro version's specifications are not yet known, it is possible that the Mi Band 7 Pro will improve upon the Mi Smart Band 7 and Mi Smart Band 7 NFC, which were introduced last month. Mi Band 7 Pro and Xiaomi 12S series specificationsThe Xiaomi 12S series, which includes the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, Xiaomi 12S Pro, and Xiaomi 12S smartphones, will be released alongside the Mi Band 7 Pro, as was previously reported. Additionally, Sony's most recent IMX989 camera sensor will be featured for the first time on a smartphone in the world on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. The Xiaomi 12S series' specifications have also previously leaked on a number of occasions. It is anticipated that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC will power every phone in the series. The internet is rife with rumours of the Xiaomi 12S Pro Dimensity Edition running on the chipmaker's Dimensity 9000 SoC. The wearable, which will include a rectangular display and a sophisticated, professional-level sports and health monitoring experience, is known as the Mi Band 7 Pro(translated). According to an earlier source, the Pro model is anticipated to include GPS and a larger battery (perhaps 250mAh) than the 180mAh battery unit included in the Mi Band 7. According to reports, the Mi Door Lock smart lock's application code had the first mention of it. |

| Vodafone Idea to Struggle With 5G Because of Weakening Customer Base: GlobalData Posted: 30 Jun 2022 03:04 AM PDT
All the private telcos in India have been working for the last year to develop 5G use cases and prove their network is ready to handle higher data loads and capacity for enterprises and consumers. Vodafone Idea (Vi), the third-largest telco in the country, is, however, not in the right position to invest heavily in the 5G spectrum auction. GlobalData, a data analytics firm (via ET Telecom), said Vodafone Idea is likely to struggle with 5G because of poor performance in the financial department as well as a weakening customer base. Priya Toppo, an analyst at GlobalData, said that while Airtel is already testing 5G equipment, the question will remain over whether the telco can afford to build 5G meaningfully. As for Jio, Toppo said that it would be easy for the telco to gain a market-leading position because of the massive financial resources and existing market position. Toppo said Vodafone Idea is likely to struggle due to its weakening customer base and financial position. Bulk of Indian Customers to Continue Using 4G ServicesGlobalData estimates that a bulk of the customers in India will continue to use 4G services due to the rising data prices and smartphone prices, particularly in rural areas. However, at the same time, the data analytics firms said that India's mobile data usage would grow by 29%, and data revenue would go up by 67% between 2020 and 2026 because of 5G broadband. This is in line with the data that Ericsson has previously shared on its Mobility report. Ericsson estimates that most consumers will continue to use 4G in the coming years, and 5G will only become slightly dominant around 2027. Most of the parties that adopt 5G services would be enterprise customers in different verticals such as healthcare, fintech, agritech, and more. It is interesting to note that Reuters recently said, citing industry sources, that the telcos are looking to not invest heavily in the upcoming 5G spectrum auction. If there's a delayed or minimal rollout of 5G by the Indian telcos, it might even take longer for India to become a nation with most users consuming 5G services. |

| Jio, Airtel and Vi Aren’t Going to Bid Heavily in 5G Spectrum Auction: Report Posted: 30 Jun 2022 02:06 AM PDT
Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea (Vi), the three private telecom operators in India, are not expected to bid heavily on the upcoming 5G spectrum auction on July 26, 2022. Industry sources told Reuters that Indian private telcos are worried about losing 40% of the potential revenues because the enterprises can get spectrum directly from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for captive private networks. The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), the representative body of the Indian private telcos, had tried to stop the government from doing so, but things didn't work out. Now telcos are afraid to invest heavily in the spectrum auction because they fear a loss of revenue. Enterprises, however, would be happy with the outcome. SP Kochhar, Director General, COAI, said that the telcos were hoping the enterprise demand for 5G services would help them get a return on billions of dollars they will invest into rolling out next-generation network services. Business Cases for the Telcos Dim Around 5G if Enterprises Can Get Spectrum DirectlyIt is worth noting that in many parts of the world, enterprises are allowed to get the spectrum directly from the government for captive private networks. However, in India, the telcos were majorly counting on the enterprise services which involved private 5G networks to earn them revenues from the 5G rollout. The spectrum auction is still almost a month away. According to ICICI Securities, Jio and Airtel are expected to bid for spectrum worth Rs 38,000 crore each during the upcoming auction. Vodafone Idea (Vi) doesn't have the kind of cash resources that Jio and Airtel do and hence might participate in a very minimal manner. The telcos are definitely not happy with the government's decision around giving spectrum directly to the enterprises. Broadband India Forum (BIF) has, however, supported the government decision saying that telcos will still have a major role to play and earn revenues from the enterprises. |
| Oppo Takes Reno8 Series Camera Experience to Next Level With 6nm NPU MariSilicon X Posted: 30 Jun 2022 12:12 AM PDT
Oppo, one of the largest Chinese smartphone and electronics manufacturers, is soon expected to launch the Reno8 series in India. The company just announced that the Reno8 series would come with the 6nm neural processing unit (NPU) MariSilicon X. This 6nm NPU will take image processing to the next level, said Oppo. Oppo says its engineers have developed algorithms which will render accurate Indian skin tone and even be able to create Bokeh Flare Portrait videos. To apply different levels of beautification and skin smoothening, Oppo's AI will be able to distinguish between the beauty spots and the skin blemishes along with the age and the sex of the subject. The camera from Oppo will be able to recognise the appropriate camera mode based on the lighting and shooting scenarios. Oppo Worked with Sony to Bring RGBW Pixel Array Technology
Oppo partnered with Sony, one of the largest optical equipment manufacturers, to develop its new RGBW (red, green, blue, white) pixel array technology, which will be an upgrade over the traditional RGGB (red, green, green, blue) sensors. With this new technology, sensors will be able to take 60% more light, and there will be a 20.2% increase in purity when compared with the RGGB sensors. Essentially, the low-light pictures will be enhanced further, and the skin tones in portraits will also improve. This particular development is not new as Oppo had already introduced the new RGBW technology in collab with Sony with the Reno7 series and IMX709 selfie sensor. The thing worth noting here is the 6nm MariSilicon X NPU designed for computational photography. The chip has over 3.6 billion transistors and can perform up to 18 trillion operations per second (18 TOPS), said Oppo. But an even big advantage of this new 6nm NPU is that it consumes very less power even in the most demanding tasks. MariSilicon X's image processing speed will allow users to record night videos in 4K UHD with the promise of crystal-clear frames. There is more, but how good the actual performance is will only be known once the Reno8 series is launched in India. |
| 5G Launch Changed the Customer Experience for Users in US Posted: 29 Jun 2022 11:30 PM PDT
5G is only a few months away from India now. The telcos are eagerly waiting to get their hands on the 5G spectrum so that they can roll out next-generation network services. Anuj Mathur, Senior Director of Engineering, Compass India Development Center told TelecomTalk in an exclusive interaction that he is anxiously looking forward to the full flow of the 5G launch in India. Mathur is familiar with what is happening in the US with respect to 5G as Compass is doing major business in that country. He told TelecomTalk that with the advent of 5G in the US, customer experience changed completely for the better. "Airlines have started their own interactive chatbots, IVR-based bots. All these things and capabilities are only feasible if you are allowed to take a huge payload on the network. That can be only made possible with 5G. The second is the extent of 5G. So far 4G has been very limited to sub-sections of India but with 5G, we can reach every nook and corner of the country," said Mathur. 5G to Enable Immersive Experience
India's 5G spectrum auction is slated for July 26, 2022, which is less than a month away. 5G is definitely going to change a lot of things – both for the consumers as well as the enterprises. The only thing right now is that consumers might not get 5G right away in India. Telcos are expected to go ahead with a very limited 5G launch in select cities of the country initially. It will take several years for entire India to get 5G coverage. |
| Samsung Galaxy S23 Camera Leaks are Here Posted: 29 Jun 2022 10:41 PM PDT
Samsung Galaxy S22 series has been a huge success for the South Korean tech giant. It has been six months since the time Samsung first unveiled the Galaxy S22 series to fans globally. In another six months, it will be time for the S23 series to launch. The camera leaks of the device have already come. A render of the Galaxy S23 Ultra has also come by Technizo Concept. If the actual device will be anything like the leaked render, the Galaxy S23 series will have one of the most stylish smartphones on the market. For now, let's focus on the camera leak that has come of the smartphone. Samsung Galaxy S23 Series Camera LeaksGoing by the rumours, Samsung is unlikely to upgrade the telephoto sensor on the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+. According to a report from the Galaxy Club, the Galaxy S23 series is also expected to make use of the same 10MP telephoto sensor which is found in the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ devices. This might be to push more camera lovers to buy the Galaxy S23 Ultra. But there's no confirmation for what Galaxy S23 Ultra will hold either. It would be disappointing if Samsung doesn't make big camera upgrades in the next flagships. Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is known for the powerhouse it is in the camera and performance department. Just like every year, fans would expect big upgrades in the camera over the Galaxy S22 series. While there will definitely be some upgrades, going by the report from Galaxy Club, the telephoto sensor on the non-Ultra models isn't going to be upgraded. Samsung will of course say nothing about this right now. The exact date or the time frame for the launch of the Galaxy S23 series is not clear right now. But it should be done in early 2023, around January or February, like every year. |
| Vodafone Curve Smart GPS Tracker Features and Use Explained Posted: 29 Jun 2022 08:19 PM PDT
Vodafone, one of the largest telecom operators in the United Kingdom (UK), offers users a tracking product called 'Curve'. This is a Smart GPS tracker, which the company says can be attached to almost anything. GPS tracking products are pretty useful for people who seem to lose their belongings more often than not. But this product isn't just good because it can track things, but also because it can track your pets. Here are a few things that you should know about Vodafone Curve. Vodafone Curve Features and SpecificationsSo first of all, as explained above, it is a GPS tracking product, so of course, it has an in-built GPS system. It supports quick alert and beep to find features. The tracker is also waterproof. Note that it runs on battery and the battery life is dependent on the different tracking modes that the user is on. It can also be attached to its keyring accessory, which makes it very convenient for tracking by attaching the keyring with an important item or your pet's collar. But you do need a subscription to use this tracker. See, this product uses a Smart SIM, which uses the company's network so that the smart device can use features and send updates to your phone. Because a SIM is involved, data can be transferred between the phone and the tracker over long distances as well. To see the tracking data, users will have to download the Vodafone Smart App. This is not a product that can be used in a country where Vodafone's smart SIM is not supported. If you have just bought the device and want to learn how to activate it or other related questions, you can visit the product page of Curve on Vodafone's website. Under the FAQ section, you will get almost every answer you need related to the Vodafone Curve. Real-time tracking is not the best way to go about this product as it will drain the battery very fast. But users can leverage other products such as Apple AirTag and more for tracking stuff. |
