The company wants to take its digital talent resource pool from the current 3500 people to 6300 by April 2024. "Digital was founded to accelerate BT's transformation, innovation and return to growth. To succeed, we need to bring in and upskill the top digital talent, and our efforts will boost the tech communities in the UK and India along the way," comments Harmeen Mehta, Chief Digital and Innovation Officer at BT. Over 1000 people that BT will onboard from the UK will be around BT's hub sites in Manchester, Birmingham, Belfast, Bristol, Ipswich, and London. In India, BT will look to hire over 1800 people who will be centred around its hubs in Bengaluru and Gurugram. To ensure that its existing talent pool is up to the mark, BT is also continuing with its ambitious programme of up-skilling and re-skilling the employees. In order to support the recruitment drive, BT is bolstering its Digital recruitment capacity under Director of HR, Digital, Mark Murphy. But this deployment will certainly give a boost to Airtel's brand image and an upper hand over the competitors, as Airtel has proven the power of its private 5G services right before the spectrum auctions. The company implemented two industrial-grade use cases during the trial, which included improving the operational efficiency and quality improvement at the Bosch facility. At any manufacturing facility, efficiency and quality are two very important metrics for a company. Performance of the Airtel 5G Network at Bosch Facility Airtel's 5G network with high bandwidth in multiple gigabytes and ultra-low latency was able to help Bosch in driving automated operations and ensure faster scale up and reduced downtimes, both of which can help the manufacturing facility in making more money. Thousands of connected devices could be managed through Airtel's 5G network, delivering super-high bandwidth. With a private 5G network, security is enhanced, and automation is boosted. India Gets First State With its Own Broadband Internet Service Posted: 14 Jul 2022 11:49 PM PDT Kerala, one of the most beautiful places to visit or live in India, has also become the first state in the country to have its own internet service. The announcement of the internet service was made by the Chief Minister of the state – Pinarayi Vijayan. Kerala government wants the internet service to be accessible to everyone living in the state. Thus, the government set up Kerala Fibre Optic Network Ltd (KFON), which has also received the ISP (internet service provider) license from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). The minister tweeted that Kerala has become the first state in the country to have its own internet service. The KFON project can now be started, and the people living in Kerala can get internet as a basic right, the minister added. Goal of KFON Project and Current Project Status Under the KFON project, the BPL families will receive free broadband internet service. Over 30,000 government offices in the state will also be provided with free internet through the KFON project. This is definitely going to go a long way for the people of Kerala as well as the government. The state government recognises that the internet is a basic right of the people. Most low-income families can't afford internet access and are deprived of the opportunities that people with internet access have. The KFON website says that 15,600 km of access OFC (optical fibre cable) has been deployed along with more than 5,000 km of backbone OFC. The project has an ambitious aim of giving 20 lakh+ people in the state free internet service by deploying 35,000 km of OFC. This is something that other states with a strong economy can also follow. Not everyone can afford internet service, and thus it is important for the state governments and the central government to work together and ensure that even people who can't afford it are connected to the internet somehow. This will only propel India towards a better future.
