| Amazon Prime Video Now Has More User-Friendly Navigation System with Faster Content Search Posted: 20 Jul 2022 06:56 AM PDT
The redesigned Prime Video app user interface is currently being implemented by Amazon with the main goal of making it easier for users to find content. The Prime Video app will now have a more user-friendly main navigation bar for quick access to movies, TV episodes, sports, and premium channels, the firm said in an official statement. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will both be simple for Prime Video customers to access, thanks to the updated menu. Additionally, for easier access, the new navigation menu in the living room apps has been shifted to the screen’s side. More about the revamped Prime Video appThe updated UI of the new app includes a carousel that features movies with more dramatic visuals. For instance, the “Top 10 Chart” will showcase Prime Video’s most watched and trending content, while the “Super Carousel” will highlight notable films like Amazon Originals and Exclusives. Six main pages—Home, Store, Find, Live TV, Free with Ads, and My Stuff—will be available when the Prime Video app launches. There will also be sub-navigation options if a visitor wishes to browse by the type of information or offer. Additionally, Amazon is making it easier for Prime Video subscribers to discern between content that is free with their subscription and those they must pay for. To do this, the titles now include visual cues in the form of a blue checkmark symbol for content that is readily available and a shopping bag indicator for titles that require a purchase. Additionally, all of the videos that come with the Prime subscription can be viewed by choosing the My Subscriptions row at the top of the Home page. The new UI has also improved the Find page. The results can be filtered by genre or 4K UHD at the Prime members’ discretion. According to a statement made by Amazon, the new interface has already started to roll out for Fire TV, Android, and other connected living room devices, and it will soon be available for iOS and the web. |
| OnePlus 10T 5G and OxygenOS 13 Launch Announced Posted: 20 Jul 2022 06:35 AM PDT
OnePlus has just announced the launch of the OnePlus 10T 5G along with the OxygenOS 13. The new version of OxygenOS is likely going to be based on Android 13, as OxygenOS 12 was based on Android 12. The OnePlus 10T 5G is expected to be the last of the flagships from OnePlus for 2022. The launch will take place via an event in NYC on August 3, 2022. The company will be doing its first in-person launch event post the launch of the OnePlus 7T back in 2019. “As you've probably noticed, the OnePlus 10T uses the same T nomenclature that has, since the debut of the OnePlus 3T, always represented a holistic performance upgrade. With the OnePlus 10T, we're taking this concept to the next level – evolving the device's upgrades beyond improvements to speed alone by leveraging new technologies to deliver key advancements to the OnePlus experience,” OnePlus said. OnePlus 10T 5G Confirmed to Come With Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 SoCOnePlus has confirmed that the OnePLus 10T 5G will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 SoC. It is the latest flagship SoC from Qualcomm with better thermal management, meaning the performance of the OnePlus 10T 5G would be superior to many flagships running on the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 platform. “The latest version of OxygenOS boasts a bevy of improvements to gaming, connectivity, and customization, to name a few. OxygenOS 13 will launch first on the OnePlus 10 Pro, followed by the OnePlus 10T later this year,” OnePlus said in a community post. The launch event will take place on August 3, 2022, at Gotham Hall in New York City. People who purchase a ticket for the in-person event will get top-tier merchandise along with the OnePlus Nord Buds. In India, the launch will take place at 7:30 IST. |
| Netflix Might be Planning Something Big in the Animation Department Posted: 20 Jul 2022 05:29 AM PDT
According to a statement from the firm, Netflix Inc. intends to buy Sydney-based animation studio Animal Logic. The streaming service added that it hoped to use this acquisition to further its initiatives to develop complete animation production capabilities. According to Amy Reinhard, vice president of studio operations at Netflix, “Netflix has been investing in animation over the past few years, and this furthers our commitment to developing a world-class animation studio.” This acquisition was unexpectedly announced by Netflix immediately before it released its Q2 report. The streaming platform stated that it anticipates concluding this contract by the end of this year without disclosing the specifics of the agreement. However, the business did note that as part of the partnership, it will build a global production studio alongside Animal Logic animators to collaborate on a number of important forthcoming films and television shows. Netflix confirmed further that it would keep working with other studios. Zareh Nalbandian is the creator and CEO of Animal Logic. A second studio is located in Vancouver, Canada. The future Ron Howard-directed movies “The Shrinking of the Treehorns” and “The Magician’s Elephant” are already in production at the Australia-based animation studio Animal Logic, Netflix, and Animal Logic. In its Q2 report, which Netflix had previously provided, it was noted that it had lost nearly 1 million customers during the spring due to stiffer competition and global inflation that was on the rise. It was a relief, though, as the numbers were far lower than anticipated. The company has been planning to launch an ad-supported plan for the customers, which might come for free or at an even lower cost than the plans today, to attract new users. The competition in the OTT industry has eaten up the market share of Netflix, which has been going through a rough patch. The company has lost subscribers globally for consecutive months now, and most of it is because of its pricing structure and alternatives for consumers at a lower price. |
| Huawei Announces New Cloud Solutions to Help Carriers Boost Growth Posted: 20 Jul 2022 05:16 AM PDT
Huawei, a major telecom gear vendor, has announced its first suite of global scenario-based cloud solutions for carriers. The new solutions from Huawei are focused on monetising networks, innovating services, and optimising operations. The announcement was made during the summit keynote entitled Huawei Cloud: Enabling New Growth for Carriers. Chen Xuejun, who is the Director of Huawei Carrier IT Marketing & Solution Sales, made the announcement. With advancements in 5G, cloud computing, big data, and edge computing, cloud transformation has become the future of telecom carriers. According to Gartner, carriers around the world will increase their IT infrastructure investment in cloud transformation at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 27% in the next five years. Huawei has distilled its over three decades of telecom experience and cloud expertise into the following key factors for carrier cloud transformation: first, the selection of a transformation strategy by factoring in a carrier’s own advantages; second, the planning of a transformation path considering data security, system stability, and service agility; and third, the selection of a trusted, experienced, and competent partner for win-win collaboration. Huawei has built three factors into its carrier cloud solutions. These are three factors – First, Network + Cloud expands the scope of network monetization. Second, Service + Cloud accelerates service innovation. Third, Operation + Cloud drives operations efficiency. Let's take a look at these three factors in detail. First, Network + Cloud expands the scope of network monetization. Huawei’s network insights and cloud-network collaboration solutions enable carriers to expand their service and market boundaries for maximum network value. For enterprise customers in China, Huawei Cloud provides a Cloud Network + Security deployment solution to expand the coverage of traditional solutions with integrated ICT for a multiplier boost in value. Second, Service + Cloud accelerates service innovation. Huawei Cloud leverages Huawei’s experience in the telecom industry and its advanced cloud platform capabilities to make carrier development agile and bring innovation faster to the market. In Africa, a customer deployed the mobile wallet platform on Huawei Cloud, shortening service rollout from months to weeks. The Huawei Cloud ecosystem further shortened this rollout from months to just one week. Third, Operation + Cloud drives operations efficiency. Huawei Cloud pre-optimized cloud solution powers basic telecom services expands the user scale, and catalyzes the continuous growth of main services. An Asian carrier counted that only 10% of its 5G subscribers are using 5G service packages and 5G network coverage. Huawei uses the distributed data lake solution for collaborative analysis of business support system (BSS) data, improving operations efficiency and boosting the marketing conversion for 5G provisioning by 180%. Chen Xuejun concluded his keynote with Huawei Cloud’s commitment. “The key to carrier cloud transformation lies in smarter use of the cloud for networks, services, and operations. Huawei Cloud will work with global carriers to transform and open up new growth space.” |
